A lot of folk questioning why we didn't go for Moult and criticising the club for letting him slip through our fingers. I've been told by both rangers fans and guys involved at Motherwell that there was definitely an offer on the table from rangers and has been since the summer on very similar terms to the contract he just signed with PNE. Moult always wanted to return down south to be closer to his and his wife's family's as he has young kids. Can't blame the guy for that.

For me we're getting it all wrong here. We don't need a manager. we need a coach. We have a director of football in place who takes away a lot of the responsibilities and duties of an old style football manager leaving the football side of things solely to the coach. I think we have the perfect coach right under our noses in Murty. Give the guy the gig to the end of the season. With the right scouting dept and the proper back-up team now in place also i think he could do a great job.

I agree bigjohn, I would be happy to see how things go over the next 6 weeks. If we are sitting 2nd with good results against Aberdeen then i’d give Murty a 1 year rolling contract. It’s early days but his instructions to the players have made them get the results, I expect another 2 wins to follow before the Aberdeen games then we will see where we are at.

One worry I have is that whoever gets the managers job should have the final say on any transfers IMO. The director of football should be overseeing scouting, youth development and to an extent transfers but I don’t want a situation whereby the coach is there to coach what he’s given every summer like what happens at some Prem/ European clubs.

Agreed wee bear. The manager must identify the players he wants then it is up to the director of football to broker the deal.

Murty is intelligent, speaks very well, we know he's a good coach and most importantly he has the respect and backing of the players. No brainer for me!

I wouldn't get carried away and say the next 2 games are gimmies because that's when you usually get bit on the archie

is that not the job of scouts, the manager idendifies areas to improve, the scouts find them and dof signs them or am i stupid, don't answer that.

Does anyone remember the kid from Feyenoord we were trying to sign, his name was Tarik Fagrach. His goals record for their U20's was really good. Did we get him signed up?

bigjohn I'm sure we did sign him up in December. I'm sure I seen a interview in a match programme.

2.) 18 Jan 2016 14:33:08
Yes signed early December I'm sure but isn't on the rangers website for some reason.

3.) 18 Jan 2016 14:33:46
Think we offered him a 3 yr deal if i'm correct not heard much about him since.

The lad is 17, future prospect and is being used in the under 21's I believe.

Yeah I asked this question a few weeks back. he's listed on some sites as being a rangers player and has been confirmed on some Dutch websites over here that he signed. he's a risky one though. Very disruptive on the training ground and attempted to punch the manager during a training ground bust up. If they can get his temperament under control then possibly a good signing.

There is no way we should be looking to release Rossiter. Yes he's had his injury problems but he's only a kid in football terms and what a player he will be once he remains fit. The perfect example is our manager Stevie G. Gerrard himself was an injury prone teenager who suffered from groin, hamstring and back injuries which stopped him from playing when he first broke into the Liverpool team. Once he fully developed and stopped growing the injury problems stopped. he turned out not too bad!

Can anyone clear this up. Just want to know for sure what the compensation rules are for players under 24.

I posted the other day that Hearts would be entitled to £400,000 development fee if walker leaves next summer as when his contract expires on the 1st June 2018 he will still be only be 24. As far as I'm aware clubs are entitled to a fee for players 24 years old and under and a few mates of mine who are Jambos believe this is also the case. If this is true then i can see why Hearts are hanging on to him as there is no point selling for the £600,000 we have offered if they are guaranteed this fee anyway. I'd love to see Walker at Ibrox but if this is the case then it makes our bid look ridiculous.

He just turned 24 last month. When his contract expires on the 1st June 2018 he'll still be 24.

Magoo. As far as i'm aware he has just turned 24 on 25th June. Development fee's are paid for players 24 years old and under. When his contract expires next year he will still be 24 so Hearts due a fee? Could be wrong though.

Walker won't be a free next year. Hearts are entitled to a development fee which will be around £400,000. I'd love to see him at Ibrox but we either need to pay the money Hearts are asking for, or move on. Pretty sure he's not a rangers fan as the papers are reporting either as his dad is and always has been a season ticket holder at Tynecastle so doubt very much he'd try to force through a move to us.
