Are we being linked to anyone from Swansea?
My mate was at Ross Hall yesterday afternoon being assessed for a knee op. He is not a football fan but told me there was a "big" guy having a medical and that he had a Kit bag with the Swansea football badge on it.

Hope it might be for us rather than the Brenda connection.

gosman

1.) 31 Aug 2016 16:08:46
A big Swansea fan maybe?

2.) 31 Aug 2016 16:12:58
apparently rangers will be making no signings today, so i wouldn't get your hopes up lads. Hopefully it ain't true but i fear the worst myself as well.

3.) 31 Aug 2016 16:40:59
Senderos has signed.

4.) 31 Aug 2016 16:46:33
Senderos has just been confirmed. Contract till the end of the season.

5.) 31 Aug 2016 16:55:53
No signings will be made today other than Senderos, sorry lads but we just don't have the funds to compete with the funds Celtic have. Just not ready to compete with them just yet.

6.) 31 Aug 2016 17:34:07
Sadly our so called benefactor, Dave King, does not appear to be as willing to invest as Desmond does at Celtic. I am not a fan of Desmond but in the past he has funded deals, such as Keane, and given that King expects us to finish first two he hasn't exactly spent much, if any of his own £millions to improve the playing squad.

Thankfully they did not improve either their management or their team when we were in the footballing doldrums so we are not that far behind them however our return to the SPL has clearly motivated them to significantly improve both their management team and their playing staff.

From our perspective, with the arrival of Senders, hopefully we will see the back of Kiernan and Hill but our central defence will still be at risk on the break and a fast, quality centre back really should have been acquired.

I just hope that we can hold on to Waghorn and that he is not sold to balance the books.

7.) 31 Aug 2016 20:14:24
go over to the celtic page and ask them if you think Desmond invests!

8.) 31 Aug 2016 17:40:11
4 games in and the hobgoblins think the league is won! . love being the underdog and coming from behind. keeping words in the right place not my strong point however! #55.

Told last night from very good source that the reason for delay in manager is that the main target is with another club and compensation is being discussed.
In case it falls through then next choice won't feel like 2nd choice?

gosman

1.) 09 Jun 2015 20:57:15
Apparently Rangers are talking to Aberdeen to sort out compensation for Derek McInnes.
Would rather have Warburton and Weir to be honest.
Don't think McInnes offers anything better than McCall.

2.) 10 Jun 2015 01:35:50
Clubs tend to have more than one iron in the fire and when they decide through illimination ( by candidates or by club ) to appoint a particular person , this person is first choice .

3.) 11 Jun 2015 14:01:08
I heard a strong rumour that McInnes is going to get the job if they can sort out compensation.

As long as Warburton remains as manager, we will never improve as a team.
As fans, we all knew since the beginning of LAST season that we badly needed to strengthen in defence, needed a defensive mid and a proven goalscorer.
18 months later we still need them (thank god for KM)

Warburton has proven to be tacticaly useless, one dimensional, unable to change it up and has nothing to offer but his usual "we will learn" soundbytes which from what i see he doesn't even do that.

Time to go Mr Warburton

gosman

1.) 21 Jan 2017 15:06:58
That's pure nonsense, what warburton needs is money to buy some decent players, he brought in 11 players before he got garner for peanuts, of course he knows what he's doing, he just needs money to buy good players, not shop at the bottom end of the market, and btw that's not a dig at our board, because we can't spend what we don't hav

2.) 21 Jan 2017 15:21:09
Bollocks, £1.8 mil isn't peanuts for us and it has been wasted. Spent 1/ 2 mill on MOH and rarely plays him.
Those two situations alone tells you he is clueless.

Are you trying to say that the other signings he has made solved the problems everyone knows we had since last season?

If so then you are just as clueless

3.) 21 Jan 2017 15:21:33
Seems to me that we won? Would have preferred a more composed game but stylish silky football that ends in defeat is not something we need right now

4.) 21 Jan 2017 15:26:04
Lets not forget he has had more money than Aberdeen, hearts and the rest so that is no excuse, it is downright bad management

5.) 21 Jan 2017 15:28:47
So true BR65. Let's just win.

6.) 21 Jan 2017 15:30:12
Gosman you call me clueless yet your the one who can't read, read what I said outwith garner he's had peanuts lol
Anyway your just another rangers basher, I bet you hoped we got beat today, my god we won without playing well, yet you still want him sacked, I'm sick to think that me and you support the same team, your definitely one of the boo brigade

7.) 21 Jan 2017 15:41:35
Do you know what, I don't want to argue with you, I'm a fan that win lose or draw I get behind them, I, ll give warburton time to get it right because he deserves time at the very least, I'm obv very diff from you, I'm not stupid I know we are miles off were we want rangers to be, but I don't think warburton is clueless as you say, I think he's a very smart guy and if somehow he could a right good transfer budget he could do great thing at ibrox, but I'm willing to give him time to get there as he doesn't have the money for a quick fix

8.) 21 Jan 2017 15:43:05
No Delboy, i am a realist, we are a poor excuse for a team and that is down to the manager who picks the team and sets the tactics.

I have followed and supported them for well over 50years, at home and in Europe through good and bad times. Season ticket for at least half of those years but this is as bad a crowd as we have ever had.
Yes we have had poor teams but at least they put in a shift and knew what it meant to wear the jersey

9.) 21 Jan 2017 16:07:20
He has had far more money to spend than Aberdeen and Hearts yet there isn't much between the sides. His recruitment in the summer has failed miserably and to spend £1.8m on a non scoring striker when money is as tight is ludicrous. Sad day when a 38 year old is your best defender and a 37 year old is your best striker. Really can't see how we can close the gap on Celtic and it looks like under him we will be scrambling with Aberdeen and Hearts for 2nd place with the odd cup win

10.) 21 Jan 2017 16:31:35
I hope he learns from today!

On the live chat we were talking about his substitutions and who would come on / go off and surprise surprise, if fans could guess them, then so could opposition managers!

I am not a Halliday fan but thought he had a decent game today but Holt was a waste of a jersey. Windass made a difference when he came on as did all our substitutes and for his first competitive game I thought Toral had a reasonable game but boy our defence was poor and I include Wallace in that. He struggled to get back, he got dragged into the middle and sorry but he just is not leadership material.

We have some good quality young players but we are so short of quality it is frightening! We need some serious investment in players especially in defence!

11.) 21 Jan 2017 19:34:55
TOMUSA you make a lot of good points i'm just really surprised we've never sorted the problem areas scoring goals and conceding cheap goals, i think both new boys in midfield will be better in possession and won't have as much slack passing as both holt and halliday who i think are the architects of us conceding goals losing possession in bad areas of the park, would like to see bates along side hill for few games see how the boy plays, just glad we got the win and hope we can kick on from here

12.) 21 Jan 2017 20:40:57
We all saw us drifting back to our pre Dons and Jam Tarts style for 80 mins today and it is not pretty but we have shown when we can do it differently ijust as we did in the last 10 minute. However after the game today I was on the lift and wee Barry got on going from level 1 to ground, he did not look a happy lad. A brief bit of light banter took place about the game being poor for 80 mins nothing else but there was no reaction from him at all, really quite sullen. He is just a young lad and I just hope the pressure we put on him on this and other sites is not taking its toll, mayb some on here should go a bit easier on him!

13.) 21 Jan 2017 22:11:28
Agree wae uz lads I knew who would be subbed for who as soon as I saw starting lineup

14.) 22 Jan 2017 15:40:13
Thank goodness for km? Hope to God that's not Kenny miller because he was absolutely woeful today and his 2 goals don't change that.

30 Nov 2016 22:02:57
Anyone who reckons Warburton is a manager after this is deluded.
He constantly plays wrong formation, constantly plays guys that are next to hopeless at times and the worst of all? he plays players out of position.

Record shows we have not lost at ibrox in a while, on this performance we have 3 gubbings coming up. The sheep, tarts and tims.

gosman

1.) 30 Nov 2016 22:25:51
Why are we surprised at the result! Kiernan and Wilson is a joke partnership and neither of them are Rangers class although I have to ask what the hell David Weir is doing since I would have thought he would have the gumption to either develop them or tell Warburton to get rid!

There is a reason why Jason Holt left Hearts; he is a Championship player that is totally out of his depth in the top league and I will say it again, Wallace is never a leader and tonight he was a pathetic excuse for a full back as well. He was given the runaround by Patterson!

Defensively, only Tavernier and the goalkeeper come away from that game with any credit.

In midfield only Halliday is worth mentioning, he was Rangers best player. The rest were not worth the admission money and unfortunately Dodoo struggled although his goal should have stood.

That team is leaderless, they don't have a winning mentality, they don't, (with few exceptions), understand what playing for Rangers is about. They lack fight, the lack team spirit, I'd like to say that they are one dimensional but they are not even that.

I am starting to agree with Joey Barton and definitely agree with McCann. The summer signings have been a total joke; a mixture of injured players and players that are frankly not good enough. It was clear for all to see that Crooks was not match fit tonight, I could go on but its pointless.

If Warburton goes then he will be replaced by some other second rate manager or worse still, Weir will get the job, because any manager worth considering will want a transfer budget that is not there.

It look like King went for Warburton based on his exploits at Brentford without thinking it through and to be fair, most of us supported him.

Celtic, much as it pains me to say it, have set the standards with the appointment of the ex Liverpool guy. We need someone better!

2.) 30 Nov 2016 22:29:38
@gosman - and I bet you've never been a manager but seem to think you are by your post?

3.) 30 Nov 2016 22:38:58
Tomusa, I agree with every point you make except tav getting pass marks. He was sleeping for both goals.

4.) 30 Nov 2016 22:40:55
Tavernier comes away from that game with credit? Was I watching a completely different game?

5.) 30 Nov 2016 22:42:15
TOMUSA

Tavernier was at fault for both goals. How do you reckon he gets pass marks?

6.) 30 Nov 2016 23:07:54
Tom USA, are you serious? Holliday was shocking and Tav almost single- handed gave away two goals. Crooks was thrown in to an alien position to accommodate Halliday, leaving it for Holt to be the creator (which he never had been or could be) . I'm sick of everyone praising Halliday when he can neither, tackle, make a basic pass, cross or be in the position he's meant to be in. Barton might have thought he would have an easier ride in Scotland but, imagine how he must feel being jettisoned for a donkey like Hallidsu. MW must now go and get a caretaker manager to see us through til we can attract someone with a modicum of tactical nous.

7.) 30 Nov 2016 22:58:21
tav and halliday were probably the worst players on the pitch.

12 Sep 2016 17:10:27
Warburton.
Good manager or not?

Since we beat celtic in the cup semi and not counting friendlies or the stupid league cup section we have played 10 games.

4 championship games (overwhelming favs) 2 draws and 2 losses.
1 cup final, gubbed.

This season, 5 premiership games (overwhelming favs in 4 of them) .
2 wins 2 draws and another gubbing.

At any other time this would result in the manager being shown the door.

How things have changed.

gosman

1.) 12 Sep 2016 17:34:45
I think his statement about lustig shows how poor a manager he is, forgetting the fact he's trying to get a player sent off, but he hadn't even been booked by then.
It just stinks of covering his own arse, I've said since the cup defeat from st Johnstone last year, he has severely under estimated the spl, and thought he would overturn us up here, it's no embarrassment getting beat from Celtic, as they are light years away from Rangers, but dropping points to hearts and Aberdeen will set the cat amongst the pigeons.

2.) 12 Sep 2016 17:43:56
this isn't like any other time! we have just been promoted after ears out the spl, we don't have brilliant players like we have had in the past. in those 4 championship games we still won the league so it is irrelevant. do you expect us to win every game?

3.) 12 Sep 2016 18:15:01
I expect with the players and budget we have to beat all the teams that don't have our resources. Obviously that is never the case but since the cup semi, his record is shocking.

4.) 12 Sep 2016 18:15:01

5.) 12 Sep 2016 18:30:22
A lot of rangers supporters are unrealistic to where the club should be considering the financial position at the moment, though it is in a much better position than it's been in a long while on the field and behind the scenes that's not good enough for by the looks of it a good number of fans, our management and players must occasionally question sanity levels up here.

6.) 12 Sep 2016 20:43:42
Rfcbear

What are your expectations?

7.) 12 Sep 2016 21:37:59
When we got promoted and looking at delias celtic i thought we had a fair chance. Being honest rodgers has made a huge difference to them so 2nd is the aim and fairly so given the gulf in finances. We have always went on winning streaks then rough patches. I think with a full squad of new team mates and not many true leaders the confidence drops quick. If we get 2 or 3 good results in a row it could all turn.

26 Jul 2016 10:03:51
At the game last night i thought young Rossiter impressed when he came on and reminded me of Barry Ferguson when he was young (Gallus) lol.
Watched the recording this morning, and him in particular, and i now see him more like Fletcher in his day at Manu. Constantly making himself available and never wasted a pass and prepared to get stuck in.

This lad imo is a real gem in the making.

Your thoughts?

gosman

1.) 26 Jul 2016 11:21:29
I find it hard to compare him to fletcher or fergie as I've only seen him play for rangers for 30 mins but maybe down the line you can draw comparison.

I've seen the boy play for Liverpool a few times and England u19's at the Euro's and I think gosman is spot on with the Fergie comparison. We didn't see him play any long balls last night but just wait till you do, he can land a cross field ball on a hapeney.
The Liverpool fans have been calling him the new Gerrard for years, and whilst I can see some comparisons due to his tackling and long range passing, I think somewhere in between the two is more accurate. And let's face it it's not a bad place to be.
He will be the signing of the century for us, he's that good. Between him, Windass and Dodoo we have uncovered some of the best young talent in English football for 250k each and hopefully Crooks proves to be as good as well. Add them to young McKay and we have THE best young talent in the country right now, imo.

5.) 26 Jul 2016 12:20:16
It's certainly going to be good value for the paying supporter watching some good players play really good attacking football.

6.) 26 Jul 2016 12:47:57
Fletcher was rank and couldn't even tackle hope he turns out better than him.

7.) 26 Jul 2016 13:25:30
fletcher of man u was rank? are u serious mate!
one of the first names on the teamsheet when he was fit and u say he was "rank"? wow

anyway i thought he was like a young barry ferguson when i saw him for the England unders and when i saw him last night he has that energy barry had when he was younger and will be worth millions in a couple of years time.

8.) 26 Jul 2016 15:35:23
it's easy to look descent with Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick etc. around you. all he did was run around and try Hollywood passes, from what I've seen of rossiter he looks like he is 10x the smarter player than a player like Fletcher and he can tackle.

Can't believe there are still people trying to make a case for Warburton. You can slant it anyway you like but he is still completely out of his depth and never a manager.

The stats show him to be hopeless.
Team selection and tactics? hopeless.
Transfers of £1.8 mill for Garner, £500k for MOH and £250k on a reserve goalie? hopeless.

Sooner he is gone the better

Seems straightforward to me.
They asked to be released, the board accepted. Warbs and co then decide they are not wanting to be released (other options fell through perhaps? )

Effectively Warburton doesn't know what he wanted. No surprise there.

Well I for one am delighted the clueless one has gone and taken Weir with him.

Big DW was a great servant as a player but he has brought nothing to the club as MW's assistant picking up wages for SFA.

Onwards and upwards.
