just a thought for us unhappy rangers fans.

Im losing my patience hearing the word boycott everytime we hear something we don't like or see happening at the club and the only ones suffering are the team as is seen by the current level of performance and position in the league

I just think its time that we got behind the team as unless we do we face no promotion and further pain.
Look at newcastle the fans don't enjoy the regime that's in charge but they overlook that and stay loyal to the team on the park that's an example I beleive we should follow

Ive been a cautious supporter of ashley and his involvement in rangers and still beleive that his involvement in the long term will benefit us

All I ask is put the team on the park, first for once and give them our full backing for the new year but not from the sofa but from being at the game shouting and cheering them back to form and contention to get us promoted

Put ally and the board to the side and focus on what matters THE TEAM!!!

{Ed001's Note - the Newcastle fans have organised boycotts too you know. Also numerous protests. It is only that the team suddenly hits form as they get momentum that they die out.}

1.) GP, I agree with your thoughts on Ashley, cautious optimism about his involvement. Unfortunately, I refuse to watch the standard of football being played while mcc. is in charge. In fact, I would rather go shopping with the mrs. , and I rate that on a par with a visit to the dentist.

i think we have been putting the board and mccoist on the back foot far to long we have well and truly supported our team in previous years and been giving nothing in return what is there to be happy about at our club so action against the board and mccoist needs to happen and I see the report of hatley supposedly trying to talk to the players behind mccoist back now we no why he sitting next to easdales

3.) How can anyone make a case to watch that standard of football? The football is appalling. I understand about getting behind the team but why should we bother when it's the same one paced rubbish week in week out. Why watch the same players play badly knowing that no matter how bad they play they will be starting next game.

mike ashley is making the positive moves that the fans were shouting out for ,first of all remove graham wallace and the other guy I can't remember ,now the move to replace ally mc coist which to me a majority of fans wanted , M.A . has a game plan and that involves putting money into the club ,so please no more boycotts or we might cry wolf once to often and end up with NO club at all doug t.s.o

5.) Bigdimps ime not being cheeky here, but how do you know what mike Ashley has planned for our club, as there's been nought in the media, no word from nobody, have we to guess and hope we guess right about Ashley's plans, if he has plans.

6.) 19 Dec 2014 19:38:41
hi george M.A. is an ambitious guy with a track record for success and keeping his mouth shut , as my old ma would say never let the left foot know what the right foot is doing ,id my own hgv road haulage business for 39 years till I retired last year ,i had people wanting to buy into it as a partnership ,but success is better off in your own head rather than shared ,so there is no reason to share any his plans with the media or anyone for that matter ,its obvious to me he sees rangers as big potential to make him a lot of money ,but at the same time M.A will need to speculate to accumulate to which will be to rangers benefit doug t.s.o

7.) Bigdimps. Yes I agree with all you say at n6 mate, especially about letting us know the script, he must be smart enough to know that if wants the fans to back him he will need to let us in on his plans, he has me wondering why he won't declare his intentions, maybe he will be happy enough with his retail deal, without more involvment, I hope this is not the case, thus I think he should let the people, the people that will either scupper his plans, or back him to the hilt, he is a clever man but isn't acting like one imo

8.) Good on you big d, I'm with you and as we were both taught about your business dealings. --- '' Do the deal and live off it'', but most importantly, ''silence is golden. ''

9.) 19 Dec 2014 23:38:02
hi george and billy b I think M.A. will surprise us but at his own pace hoping to build up a trust between himself and the fans , he has the best opportunity to expand big time with gers if he invests money for decent players and a good manager to overtake celtic and spread his gospel in europe ,i also don't think he will let the spfl and sfa get in his way either ,as far as i'm concerned no rangers in scotland and scottish football is finished ,its balancing on the brink of a cliff right now doug t.s.o

10.) Billyb silence is golden when you are dealing with hundreds of people, not when you are dealing with hundreds of thousands, and with the media shooting us down at every farts end I think they should be put in there place, and give us something to look forward to, leaving us guessing is wrong imo

Coming from Newcastle I hear a lot about how unpopular ashley is down here bur for the last 18 months I have been told the closer Rangers ger to the top flight the more he will become noticed and this seems to be the case I for one don't view ashley as negstive for rangers he knows newcastle are never going to be champions league material while rangers given time will be and that's why his interest is increasing but will do do over the next 6 months

1.) OP, I'm no football finance expert, but I would imagine there is more money to be made in English football without Champions League football than there is in Scottish football with Champions League football.
To quote northbear below; "Quite simply there is nowhere near enough money in football in Scotland to conduct business the way our club has for as long as I remember".
I have to agree with that assessment. There is more money in the English second tier than there is in the whole of Scottish football, I would imagine.
Would Ashley seriously give up all that Sky money thrown at his English club for the money available in Scotland, just for the possibility of a few million from a Champions League run, given that for the foreseeable future several qualifying rounds mean that money is not guaranteed?
I think all you who believe Ashley will sell United and come riding to the rescue for the kind of money available to a club in Scotland are living in cloud cuckoo land.

Hi STYAB, I get your point. Although there may be mor emoney in football down south. Owning a team and branding sports direct on champions league games raises awareness to his brand. Look at Intersport they became a european brand retailer and shirt sponsers for marsielle, if Mike Ashley want to fund our path to glory in return for him to us to plug his other business I am fine with that that's mutual and sounds like a good deal. Ibrox, sports direct arena. It will still be Ibrox to the fans, the media will also still refer to it as Ibrox. I just want our club run properly I am not a snob about naming rights. I bumped into Andy Cameron yesterday in Royal Exchange sqaure out promoting the No campaign he has to be carefully what he says because he still does work for the club but I got the impression he felt the same way. I would rather be a sports direct branded club run properly with security than what we have now or no Rangers.

Bottom line is we should focus on things that rangers players can influence such as behaviour and discipline because if they did we would not have to put rangers in a situation where they are punished. In my humble opinion we focus on our own issues rather than focus on other clubs or governing bodies.

For me the league slipped away 1st game after the break at Killie when worrall gave that goal away . all of a sudden they went 3 points ahead and won the game in hand to go 6 in front and what's the gap now?
