Scott Allan subject of a £500k bid from Celtic, he maintains it's Rangers move he wants. Stubbs determined he is not going to rival. Source very close to the player.

100% reliable info. He will have to sit tight, bitter Stubbs and fragile Petrie cannot risk the wrath of the fans. It's all about integrity now, if they sell

I can't understand the desperation the fans are showing. Are we playing bad, are we falling behind in the league, are we that bothered about Stoke's has Stubbs got under our skin. We need to get a grip here, we are top of the league, five points clear and still building momentum why the panic. I know we have had so many knocks over the few years that we should be nervous but let's get behind the team not on their backs.

I don't believe that there is any panic however I do believe that there is a lot of disappointment that Warburton has failed to secure his two top targets of the transfer window and the only answer appears to be a lack of cash.

The disappointment for me is with King and despite all the talk of front ended investment in the club to secure the players that Warburton wanted this transfer window, it just hasn't happened. It simply suggests that like David Murray before him he is full of bullshit and I certainly don't want that sort of guy anywhere near the club! .

We should not forget that Murray was a master of deception, a perfectionist at getting others to invest while he kept his money firmly in his pocket and an expert at making the support believe that he was spending his money on players when in reality it was rangers money that he had cleverly entertained in his own businesses.

I see nothing so far that suggests that King is planning to invest his own money, like the £30m he promised in reviving the team!

2.) 29 Jan 2016 13:58:40
TOM42, go and find me the exact quote saying 30million in the reviving of the team. as from what I remember king said it would take 30m to get rangers back up and competing, that doesn't mean 30m on the team that means 30m in total over 5 years into rangers for all different reasons, like doing up the stadium and murray park, no one in Scotland would spend 30m on a team to compete at the top.

3.) 29 Jan 2016 14:38:24
TOM42 Dave King did not say he was putting in 30 million on players, as stated before all the previous crooks ran the club into the ground, people have to realise how important it was to bring in the people he has, chief scout, commercial people, much needed work to the stadium etc etc, all at a cost, have faith, things are going along fine .

4.) 29 Jan 2016 21:30:20
Brian-p you are spot on mate. I remember him saying we required 30m investment to get us back to where we should be. He also said investment should come from himself and others like the 'blue knights'. It was only the other day I read a story where a journalist (yes one of those unbelievably) had written that the current investment was already 15m+ (This is made up of paying off the Ashley loan, players signed, maintenance and renovation of ibrox so far and staff recruitment like McParland) and that DK's figure of 30m looked as if it might turn out to be about right. I have NEVER read/ heard King promise 30m purely as a transfer kitty. That's just the papers looking for stories!

5.) 29 Jan 2016 21:33:28
I don't have the time right now to go through all the press since King became involved but here are a couple of quotes.

OK in the later quotes he has dropped from £30m to £20m or £20m+

Dave King has revealed he is ready to spearhead a £50million plan to rebuild Rangers with at least £30m of his own money.
The South Africa-based businessman believes it could take that sum spread over the next four years to make the Ibrox club genuine competitors to Celtic at the top of the Scottish game once more.
Despite losing a £20m investment made during Sir David Murray’s tenure, King is willing to take on the burden of the funding. And he wants it to start with a £5m war chest for Ally McCoist to ensure Rangers win the Championship and are ready for top-flight football.
Daily Mail, March 2014

And, said King, he would personally finance £20 million or so of the £30 million he estimates will be required for Rangers to compete with Celtic in Scotland and make some sort of headway in Europe.
Telegraph May, 21st 2015

Dave King expects to invest "more than £20m" of his own money in Rangers after reiterating that £30m is required for the club to compete at the top level.
King, who will take over as chairman on Friday, has supplied £1.5m for working capital "in recent days".
"It is really going to depend on meeting the objectives of the club, " said King of his personal funding.
"I've already lost £20m [through prior investments in Rangers]. I'm expecting to invest more than that. "
BBC 21st May 2015

Being able to compete with Celtic does not mean a new coat of paint for the Stadium and while I agree that it does include a football management infrastructure I will remain cautious of this guy until I see a squad that looks capable of challenging Celtic for the title next season.

I keep hearing that if we had not done EBT's we would not have signed the stars. I would argue that we may have ended up not wasting fortunes on players like Bert Konterman, Dan Prodan, Tore Andre Flo, Oleg Kutsnetsov, Rosental, Giavarch, Alexei Mikhailichenko, Ronald de Boer. I doubt this gave us an unfair advantage, in fact probably hindered us.

thehunandonly

1.) 13 Nov 2015 14:28:12
Surely ronald de boer in that comment wasnt serious even big konterman was worth the money for that belter against them in the cup.

2.) 13 Nov 2015 14:43:51
Alexei Mikhailichenko has got nothing to do with the ebts, he was gone before the period under scrutiny began.

3.) 13 Nov 2015 15:09:59
You shouldn't try to argue or justify it based on the quality of players. The principle is simple. Regardless of the quality of player, EBT was illegal. Just cause you bought some duds doesn't excuse it. Like Konterman. The illegal use of EBT led to you buying him even though he was gash. it's the intention to gain an unfair advantage and that's what's coming to light here.

4.) 13 Nov 2015 15:42:46
JONTY JONES

EBTs not illegal at that time. Retrospective rules by HMRC brought them to attention.
Other teams used them based on the current financial advice eg Liverpool and Arsenal and Celtic also, based on their biscuit tin budget they got into it as much as they could.

5.) 13 Nov 2015 15:34:51
Jonty explain how ebts are illegal please.

6.) 13 Nov 2015 16:35:51
Johnny doesn't need to reply HMRC have! Oh and there will be no appeal to the Supreme Courts, another myth like the 30 million.

7.) 13 Nov 2015 17:13:36
If ebts were illegal murray and the players would face criminal charges.

8.) 13 Nov 2015 21:04:42
Jonesy
Don't panic! Ebt's were not illegal and many organisations openly used them at the time. Is anyone talking about stripping titles from Arsenal or trophies from Liverpool or even Septic? Funnily enough, no.

9.) 14 Nov 2015 01:08:57
EBT's are not illegal, its the way you use them, think.

10.) 14 Nov 2015 20:27:17
About these ebts seems all the English clubs involved in them paid a percentage of tax on them then case closed rangers tried the same but was unexcepted still to the now why! Think it's hmrc we should be looking into.

11.) 15 Nov 2015 01:29:56
Look taking drugs are not illegal, its not even illegal to take them in sport. Its the intent to use them as an advantage that's the cheating part.
Which part of that don't u understand.
Drugs only give u a marginal % of a better chance to win, it doesn't garauntee it so winning or losing is irrelevant its the trying to cheat that's important.

Seen a post rangers looking at considine. Anyone else heard this one?

I live and work up here, Considine is a local lad from a wealthy family. Very strong ties to the area. He and AFC are made for each other. Besides has signed a contract extension. Very much in the category of anybody but Rangers so won't happen. Also and more importantly he's not good enough

He is / was a Rangers fan, and will come all being equal. The trouble is it is very likely he'll get a better financial deal down south. Doubt Celtic would worry about this one though, suspect he's at his peak and not going to improve our midfield much.

The guy is highly thought of at Aberdeen but is looking for a move. Whilst it shouldn't matter who any player supports I think it can make a difference. All being equal I would take one of our own. I'm not sure how good he is but the sheep don't want to lose him especially to us. Worth a punt on a free.

These guys can only go for loss of earnings. I doubt any reasonable person won't see that the three of them we're in the process of chucking it in any case. No doubt DK jumped the gun but I think this will just go away, neither party can afford to fight a claim. Dirty washing and all that.

They don't need the money right now, they are quietly going about their business getting the players that they wanted without paying through the nose like us. They had a cash injection rumored to be between 6/ 7 million from a rich fan. They have no real debt so are under no financial pressure as far as the playing squad is concerned. They would sell McLean but only for stupid money and if they line up somebody else. It would take McLean to push for this or it isn't going to happen personally I think he's a good fit at Aberdeen and we should aim higher, if not then surely we should look at the second string before another player happy to play second fiddle.

He is known to have been a Rangers fan but did he not knock us back before going south. There's probably another £20000 reason why not.

The penny drops, frankly I doubt we'll have the resources to get either. Whilst hardly marquee signings I think they'll improve the squad. My only concern with them is they lack a real goal threat, would rather stick Tav higher up the park and get a better defender in, assuming he stays.
