Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

10 Dec 2017 21:07:07
Looking at the table now, leave Murty at the helm as he is more comfortable with DOF and has a great understanding of our youth set up. Long term if there is need to appoint another manager then we do. No more who is in running crap.

New scouting system in place and plans to build new youth facilities are the way forward. Champions League will be harder to get in to as will the Europa League so no short term fixes including spend, spend, spend to stop 10 in a row. Our league position is not that bad, considering Celtic are an amazing team. 😂😂.

11 Dec 2017 17:56:51
We may not be amazing windy, but we are the best, and will be for a long, long time. By the way, you need to get into good european runs pronto to survive, so your slow burner suggestion will kill your club as will spend spend spend right enough, do you see where i'm going with this? .

11 Dec 2017 18:02:57
Ha ha Windy. Cheered me up on a freezing day!

10 Dec 2017 18:21:07
Anyone have any news on the McCrorie injury? He was terrific yesterday once again and we need him 100% fit for Wednesday. This will be a tough game but we are not without a chance as I believe we have played far better this season against teams that come and attack us than we do against teams who sit in and counter!

If McCrorie is out then I’d like to see us set up defensively with 3 at the back and Pena could be useful in this game with more space and time as Hibs come at us!

10 Dec 2017 21:02:44
Pena is a man down it doesn't much how much you try and dress it up. We will need 11 battlers against His, they are a better team than the Sheep and our main threat.

10 Dec 2017 21:07:37
Pena makes me want to cry every time i watch him. there's so much potential there for him to become a cult hero and be at the club for years but.

Hes just missing that something that can't be coached and i'm afraid that's why he will never be a success at Ibrox.

11 Dec 2017 01:17:54
Pains me to see Pena play in midfield. No urgency to press teams, no intensity and no work ethic. Said before I'd like to see him upfront with Morelos but at the moment Windass deserves that role. Our big worry for Wednesday is midfield. There will be no McCrorie, Dorrans or Jack potentially. There's nobody left to partner Holt except Barjonas and a severely immobile Kranjcar. Hopefully McCrorie makes the starting 11 though.

11 Dec 2017 10:41:22
Windass doesn't deserve any role in the team.

11 Dec 2017 10:50:21
Windass has came onto a game recently. He's definitely benefited from pedro leaving and murty coming in. Again, he has scored vital goals recently, and he puts a shift in.

11 Dec 2017 11:56:32
I disagree, Windass is nowhere near Rangers class and is lazy unless running forward and at least 3 times on Saturday made the wrong choice of pass to play in goal scoring situations,

11 Dec 2017 15:04:42
What games are you watching?! He's been one of the better players in the team recently.
He's 23, get a grip and get behind him and the team instead of criticising all the time. Your just finding things to moan about.

11 Dec 2017 17:52:23
We missed ryan jack against ross county on saturday and will without question, miss him even more, against hibs at ER on wednesday evening! Especially as jack would have been tracking hibs best midfielder, john mcginn! He's a massive threat to us and a very good midfielder!

Ryan jack would have had the job to put the bite on mcginn and if he was able to, would have went a long way to us beating them on wednesday! Jack is a very important player for us and we will miss him badly in this game! His hard work in our midfield, sometimes goes unnoticed at times by our supporters! He's a future club captain in the making!

11 Dec 2017 17:58:14
Cult heroes are usually just pish players with a bit of character, best getting rid.

11 Dec 2017 18:02:04
Well I agree with ally rangers., windass is a much improved player but could do more. it’s night / day compared to what he was like last season

12 Dec 2017 07:58:08
Broony is my favourite Celtic cult hero 👍

10 Dec 2017 17:14:39
I think our board of directors in their search for our new manager, should take a look at the incredible job, graham potter (manager) and billy reid (assistant manager), are doing at swedish club ostersunds! Its only a matter of time before big clubs come calling for these two! Its a remarkable story! At the very least, i would like to think, that they're on our radar!

10 Dec 2017 18:20:15
Couldn't agree more coops I've said him from the start but would he move?

10 Dec 2017 19:41:38
Av been saying about potter also

10 Dec 2017 20:12:31
Be better with Harry Potter maybe he could make all the Tim’s disappear.

10 Dec 2017 20:25:04
googled them two you’ve mentioned supercoop, if they were interested it would def be worth a shout!

10 Dec 2017 20:50:24
Managing utter keek team in utter keek league, qualifying for europe against other keek teams, no thanks. Plus they will be looking to move to a big club not a struggling team in another keek league.

10 Dec 2017 21:05:04
Another positive corker Fod . in your opinion then no one would want the job . don't know why you bother mate

10 Dec 2017 21:53:45
Just read your comments again Fod, you actually contradict yourself totally, I was sure your not a Gers man, now I don't even think your a football man. Stupid comments and statements all the time.

10 Dec 2017 22:14:06
fod the prod, give up

11 Dec 2017 00:53:50
Fod, Potter and Reid are exactly the type of coaches we need. They’ve taken a team from nowhere with nothing to Europe. Billy Reid done an interview a couple of years ago saying why he gives youth a chance and how Scotland is backwards when it come to developing youth. And since we don’t have the money to spend then we need to develop youth and make a profit from them down the line

11 Dec 2017 08:21:36
Haha aye say what yous want about me n my opinions but it doesn't change the facts rangers have been tits up for ages and only real money will change it. The board don't have a clue aboutfootball and to me it looks like none of them are on the same page.

11 Dec 2017 15:48:28
Graham Potter is an excellent shout. he's beaten good teams in europe? they have beaten Galatasary, Hertha BSC and got a draw against Athletic Bilbao who are all very good sides!

11 Dec 2017 17:53:33
Fodtheprod, who do you want as our new manager mate? Realistically within reason who do you think will get the job? This should be very interesting!

11 Dec 2017 18:04:00
Very true mate.
Develop and then sell on.
After Murray Park was built I thought we would have plenty youth coming through. Maybe the fact Murty doing 1st team some will get a chance.

10 Dec 2017 15:11:22
We've no chance on wed they were really good the day.

10 Dec 2017 15:17:18
Hope the players don't have that attitude

10 Dec 2017 15:19:16
Pipe down

10 Dec 2017 15:23:30
we'd no chance for the 2 dons games either but look how that worked out
keep believing!

10 Dec 2017 16:29:15
Celtic too eye off the ball and Hibs scored 2 scrappy goals.

Rangers have a great chance if they match performance levels of Aberdeen games. It’s hibs no Barcelona.

10 Dec 2017 16:43:16
I thought it was a reasonable game but first things first, we will need to match the battle of hibs first and then be assured with our game plan and ability to take chances. I thought that hibs showed that if your not scared of celtic you can cause them problems.

10 Dec 2017 17:18:12
That's the spirit mate. Write the team off already. How have we no chance? It's 11 v 11 and I think we have the better team. If we turn up we win in my opinion. We are 3/ 4 players short for solid title challenge but you never know.

Enjoy weekend mate we caught 2 points.

10 Dec 2017 17:19:10
Nice to see the fans backing the team. who cares how they played today we are rangers no surrender 🇬🇧.

10 Dec 2017 20:11:58
Always got a chance support the team.

10 Dec 2017 21:00:16
Thought hibs were very slack today and kept giving the ball away cheaply. Need to shackle mcginn because he bossed broony the fud in the middle. Will be a different game on Wednesday night for stokes and mcgeoch and co as they showed earlier in the season. Did u see all the kisses and cuddles at the end it wiz like a birthday party in the railway tavern

11 Dec 2017 09:24:03
Aye I noticed a big cheesy grin on the lurgan lout's coupon when Lustig cleared the ball off the line. Wonder if we'll see the same grin on Wednesday night when Tav does the same in the last minute to deny them an equaliser.

10 Dec 2017 14:57:00
IF certain deceaions went our way and we didn't lose them 2 "easy" games before the Aberdeen double, we could have been top of the league! I honestly think we have a decent side in there. We just need to be more consistent and go out to each game with the right attitude!

On another note, how bloody lucky are we that ross mccorie has taken his chance in the first team? For me, he's turning out to be one of our best players and he was one of the only players that stood out in the first half for me yesterday! He's got the passion and desire to make it far in the game.

10 Dec 2017 18:03:57
Defo Mr Cruikshanks, he gets better every game, a stand out this season! Like all young players he is bound to make mistakes but he it the type of player that teams can be built around, much like Tierney at Celtic, sign him up long term Stewart Robertson!

10 Dec 2017 14:23:44
An interesting point raised this morning over Warburton's signings. Where would Rangers be just now if the board had backed him enough to acquire his first choice additions? I don't think he got one first choice signing. Even Barton wasn't the first name on the list for the ill fated marquee signature. Senderos, Barton, Hill, Garner were all signed after the board failed to acquire the number one target. The guy was slated for his signings but never got who he wanted. Even Tav was second choice to Reece Wabara. I know teams will miss out on players all the time. But to be failed in key positions constantly like with the Diagouraga saga, instead having to go with John Toral on a loan. He didn't stand a chance of competing the way he wanted.

10 Dec 2017 15:00:38
Tav is a much better player than Reece warbra tho so that one work out ok.

10 Dec 2017 17:04:59
Mate warbs wanted and signed the likes of halliday kiernan etc and persisted on playing his favourites even though there was better options on the bench, he also persisted with the same tactics when is clear they were not working. For a manager who constantly said that we would learn from this, ironically he never did learn. He had to go and so did the majority of his signings.

10 Dec 2017 18:37:31
Yes I agree to an extent about his tactics being one dimensional, he himself made it clear when he joined what his philosophy was. The point was a very small margin of his signings were his number one targets. Lucky to get someone in the top 5 of a 10 man shortlist, which is quite frankly appalling. So it is no wonder he couldn't get the winning mentality he knew he required to be long term manager.

10 Dec 2017 20:03:48
If Warburton had been more pragmatic then he might have lasted long enough to find out how much backing he would have been given in a Europa League qualifying campaign. As it turned out he wasn’t and was rightfully moved on IMO. Pedro again was rightfully moved on after a truly shocking semi vs Motherwell, one thing the board cannot be held for is bottling a big (but correct) decision.

Keep Believing!

10 Dec 2017 21:21:55
Missed the point totally again. Warburton obviously deserved the sack because he wasn't winning consistently. He lived and duely died by his signings which did not show the required competitiveness to challenge domestically. Signings of which a small number were actually first on his transfer list.

11 Dec 2017 10:46:23
Barton should have been a first choice signing. given a proper chance and more than 8 games he played he could have been a fantastic signing. but all the numptys from the other side of Glasgow and the press hated him and the fact Warburton played him central defence in the celtic game. I for one was glad to see Warbs and Weir leave and get rid of Forester, Dodoo, Senderos and the rest of the mediocre player he signed

10 Dec 2017 12:14:18
I wanted Mcinnes to be our next manager and my second choice was Stuart McCall. Always thought he was unlucky not to get the job when Warbs came in. Right now, I'm on the fence between Murty and McCall, purely because Murty done the sheep, got three wins in a row and took points off them. I really like Murty but I'm not sure if he's ready. Of those two, who would you all rather see?

10 Dec 2017 14:08:40
Again someone with a short term memory, took points off Celtic yes, but lost to Dundee and ICT then beat Aberdeen home and away this time round but lost to Accies and Dundee. Murty has bought Rangers time just now but as a long term thing!? Absolutely not. If anyone thinks Murty is the man who’s going to close the gap on Celtic then you seriously need to have a word with yourself.

10 Dec 2017 15:29:42
i don't expect murty to be the next manager either but you must be blind he has already closed the gap on celtic albeit very slightly
i hope we have he grit and determination to continue this form into dec 30th
if we nicked a win ther i think wed start to see cracks form in them
keep believing!

10 Dec 2017 17:01:41
McCalls record for Rangers
PL 17 W 7 D 6 L 4 win % 41 including a hammering in the play offs to motherwell ( 6-1 ) and you want him back?

10 Dec 2017 17:06:33
Agreed Lee👍

10 Dec 2017 17:23:42
With a view to a safe pair of hands and getting the team going in the right direction again we require experience, therefore I would go with big Eck, Murty and Alex Rae. With a view to Murty possibly taking over in a couple of years.

10 Dec 2017 18:14:21
I think you are harsh Lee_mcF, Murty has done well in my opinion under difficult circumstances on both occasions in the caretaker role. he has not had the luxury of being able to sign players or the authority to speak about the future due to the nature of his position. Were you a McInnes backer? I certainly wasn’t and am glad our search for manager befitting of our great club continues!

In the meantime I’ll set Graeme Murty the same target I was willing to set McInnes, 2nd place with a total of 65-70pts. With no Gio van B or the like on the horizon just yet then Murty is a good as any of the average Joes being banded about at present!

10 Dec 2017 20:29:46
i think that for both murty and mccall it’s a bit unfair to judge their records purely on wins, losses, draws as they both improved what was left over, got better results and morale after mccoist, macdowell, warbs, caixinha were moved on

10 Dec 2017 10:13:16
Hi,

This is my first post and I was interested in gathering people's thoughts on a suggestion for the next manager at our club:

The board made a suggestion that nobody out of work is suitable to the job, but I seem to disagree.
There are a few managers that I think would be a success wearing the navy suit, brown brogues and club tie.

The popular choice being Frank De Boer. But I'd also like to make a case for Martin Jol.

He has been out of work for the last 18 months, where he left Egyptian side Al Ahly as league champions.
Possibly the fact his last post was in Egypt is the reason that he has been forgotten, and not discussed when managerial posts become vacant.

Jol is well known for his successful spells at Spurs and Fulham. Finishing his two full seasons with spurs in 5th place, and finishing his two seasons at Fulham in 9th and 12th place.

Jol has two Dutch Cup successes to his name but unfortunately not the Eredivise title. He finished one point behind FC Twente in his closest attempt. In that same season Ajax won 14 consecutive games at the end of the season, and posted a record goal difference in Dutch football, double the goal difference of the next best team's. This shows a manager with the tactical nous to open up teams to score goals, but be defensively tough to score against.

I also think he is a realistic appointment and affordable.

If we are looking for managers who have a proven success at winning trophies we have to define that success. Managers who have won recognisable leagues such as top European leagues are likely to be out of our budget. Caixinha had a proven record of delivering trophies but he was doing this at a level lesser than or club demands. And if he had been winning trophies and leagues in a decent European league (i. e. Portugal, Netherlands, even English championship) he may have demanded too high a salary.
Martin Jol has delivered a high level of success with regards to his managed club's expectations. This might not be trophies but success is success.

I'd like to think he should be contacted by our club as a potential candidate, so we can assess. And maybe one day he can proudly wear the navy suit, brown brogues and club tie.

I also think we should open talks with Frank De Boer, and maybe also Cristoph Daum (another not mentioned by the media) . A conversation will at least determine if these three individuals are right for the job and if they are interested. In my opinion, all three of these managers have a better trophy success and CV than Derek McInnes.

What are your thoughts?

10 Dec 2017 10:47:27
welcome to the board mate. Actually think that is a good shout that would be worth exploring. Be prepared for the "he doesnae bleed blue" comments haha

10 Dec 2017 11:44:37
I struggle to think of anyone who bleeds blue that will be a good appointment. Derek McInnes was the best of that lot and he still divided opinion.

Obviously we can all dream of a Walter Smith era again but we have just been fortunate that a manager of his quality is one of us. I think he deserves his right to retirement for the service he has given us. But would be delighted if he fancies one last gig.

All the other supposed "bleed blue" options like GVB are only adopted to the family, not born into it, so anyone new can be adopted into the family and become a Ranger in time

10 Dec 2017 12:23:36
Stuart McCall

10 Dec 2017 16:57:37
Yip martin jol would be a good shout. Forget de boer, couldn't hack it at inter or palace.

10 Dec 2017 16:58:04
I know from a family member, he would love to come to Rangers - he is not wholly driven by money either, I am told.

10 Dec 2017 17:05:49
Stuart McCall had 2 games against motherwell to get job. Didn't manage it. Martin Jol not sure but thought board said British manager. I think we will end up with big Eck.

Would love Gio but doubt will happen.

Anyway will be backing whoever comes in whenever that might be.

Safe hands with Graeme Murty I feel.

10 Dec 2017 20:01:32
McCall may prove to be the right man but I wouldn't gamble on him now. Let's see what kind of manager he evolves into, and see what kind of job he does at Bradford.

We need a manager who has several successful years and McCall hasn't achieved that yet for me. But maybe one for a future opportunity.

10 Dec 2017 09:48:59
Jason holt was the man could tell we missed jack and dorrans. candias a nightmare for me can’t cross a ball, 1 of out 15 as usual.

10 Dec 2017 11:27:35
I agree we missed jack. Not dorrans. Candeas was mince in the 1st half much better in the 2nd when he turned his man inside a few time, his crosses are still pish tho. Pena and miller passengers and windass for all his running offerd very little. Good to have morales back and scoring goals

10 Dec 2017 16:59:02
you must be blind - I bet you rate Miller

10 Dec 2017 09:05:58
I admire Jason Holt. Out in the cold for a while but never gave up. Plays his heart out. Good squad player. I hope we sign Moult and Walker in January as I believe they would also do a job for us. i'd prefer higher profile players but being realistic about where we're at, then these 2 would do me.

10 Dec 2017 10:26:18
Agree mate, really like holt but do think he is abit lightweight at times. Seems to have the right attitude.
Moult and Walker Jan or summer would be brilliant and give us some more options. Moult remind me of Boyd but more mobile.
If we are recruiting in Jan then I think we should buy spl so we know what we are getting.

10 Dec 2017 10:44:10
I think Moult is a must. Probably going to have competition from English clubs for him now though.

10 Dec 2017 10:48:06
Im hoping January as I don't think we can wait until summer. Suppose it depends on the manager situation but I would hope DOF has looked at these 2 and has it in plans regardless

10 Dec 2017 15:05:48
Don’t be surprised if Celtic buy moults then lend him back to Motherwell

10 Dec 2017 17:15:50
For me Moult would score about 15 / 20 a season at The Gers easy.

10 Dec 2017 08:17:03
Murty has done well, but he’s not the next rangers manger I’m sorry

10 Dec 2017 03:32:35
I genuinely believe DMcn wasn't the answer as to the next Rangers manager. For a start I think the next man needs a good pedigree at a big club where a winning mentality is expected and trophies essential. Derek already fail s in that regard. His pathetic results against Celtic prove this especially with Delia in charge of many of these encounters. I also think it's worth to remember that Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and Dundee utd were absent from a good few of the second place finishes. A league cup victory almost 4 years ago doesn't give me much confidence in his ability to change Rangers fortunes. Add to that his inability to make the euro league group stages I feel we haven't missed out on much. Also being turned over twice in a week by Murty convinced me that sticking with our interm until the right appointment comes to the surface ain't that bad. merry Xmas bears.

10 Dec 2017 10:15:35
Hard to disagree with any of that, Iain. Whoever said DM was going to be some kind of saviour for us should look closely at his record in crunch games. Serial bottler.

10 Dec 2017 10:08:17
mcinnes is happy in his own little comfort zone, the only thing our club done wrong was think that he would run all the way to ibrox, we are better off without him, so let's move on and find a better manager who will take us forward, there will be better days ahead for us

10 Dec 2017 03:32:42
10 Dec 2017 02:14:33
Could it be time to bring Ian Ferguson home now there's a man that would not take any bulls**t from anyone and he also has management experience no doubt about it everyone at the club would be clear of what's expected of them and what it means to play for Glasgow Rangers as Fergie wouldn't be too long in taking anyone not pulling their weight by the scruff and giving them a good kick up the arse

10 Dec 2017 08:46:25
My brother knows him in perth australia and told me fergies been working in construction for the last few years so that's a non starter

10 Dec 2017 08:58:11
I doubt very much that he would want to return to Scotland even for the Rangers job.

10 Dec 2017 09:36:19
Think fergie is enjoying his life here in Sunny Perth WA

10 Dec 2017 02:11:48
To the board of directors:
Your search for a new manager is over, Murty is the answer. When you have disgraced yourselves and our club, referring to the statement made concerning the McInnes saga, Murty has shown with class what it means to be part of this club. The statement that was issued during the week was absolutely shocking, Rangers are better than that. Either get with the program or move on.

10 Dec 2017 10:06:01
What was wrong with the statement? Just because the media don't like it you shouldn't just jump on the band wagon. I happen to agree with it, the job is far too big for mcinnes.

10 Dec 2017 16:52:31
Lacked a bit of class for me the statement

10 Dec 2017 00:36:26
With Jack's suspension, Dorrans injury and now the possibility of Mcrorie being out injured.

What's everybody's thoughts for the Hibs game? Struggling for players in the middle of the park, can see us being overrun.

Missed Jack today, he might be aggressive but he does the dirty work that most won't notice, nothing fancy just breaks up play. Going to be a difficult 2 games without him. Jack literally does what Joey Barton could not achieve last season, at a fraction of the wage.

10 Dec 2017 09:44:22
It is worrying that Dorrans, Jack and Rossiter are all out injured. We could push Tavernier forward and play Hodson at right back. Windass and Morelos are must-starts (I would put Miller on the bench) . Holt is playing really well and we still have Candeias.
Foderingham; Hodson, Alves, D. Wilson, John; Tavernier, Holt, Candeias, Pena; Windass; Morelos

Of course McCrorie plays if fit but Pena could hurt Hibs lurking around the penalty box. Kranjcar could come on if we need to create openings if the game isn't going our way. We must not lose this game. Hibs play Septic, us then Aberdeen all within a week. It's a shame a whole midfield is out injured. How did Barjonas play when he came on - I didn't see the game.

10 Dec 2017 10:09:17
Totally with you BearMode91,regarding ryan jack! Echo everything you say about him mate! I would like to add that ryan jack has all the attributes, to be the glasgow rangers captain, in the very near future! Reminds me so much like tough midfielders of yesteryears, like ian ferguson, terry hurlock, kevin thomson etc! Every successful football team needs a tough tackling, no nonsense, hard midfielder, who can break play, fast ball retention and can start moves off, from the defensive midfield area! IMO, ryan jack can do all that!

10 Dec 2017 10:16:06
Aye young McCrorie will be a big miss. I like the look of Jamie Barjonas and feel he would be good cover there but if I were GM I might be tempted to put Cardoso in beside Alves and push Danny Wilson into a deep position in front with Barjonas, Holt, Candeias and Windass behind Morelos. The full backs will need to be on top of their game and be prepared to get up and down the park. Hibs have been crap in some games this season but no doubt the Lurgan lout will have them fired up for their 'cup final'

10 Dec 2017 10:23:27
Jack is suspended

10 Dec 2017 11:13:43
Push Wilson into mcrorie position and backfill with bates/ cardoso

10 Dec 2017 16:53:12
We never seem to have any luck re injuries, Dorrans, wallace, mccrorie would all start if available and throw in jacks suspension to that and its a big ask at a tough venue on Wed nite but this is when others need to stand up and b counted. i hope to god that Penas nowere near the starting 11
