This is going to be a shock for most people but here goes.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is going to sign for Rangers from PSV. He will go through his medical tomorrow night or Thursday morning.

That Jim Mccoll rumour is alot of codswollop before anyone reads into it, he pubically stated he had no interest in backing rangers with any finance or buying the club but was willing to provide the rangers trust with any advice they wanted, this was in the summer a cuple of years ago, you suddenly think hes changed his mind? yes he is worth about 1 billion and is a rangers fan, but you need to ask yourself why would he want to potentially lose s good percentage of his well earned money on a business venture he can make little out of? i would love to see it but absolutely no chance of it.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Bang on m8.this is the problem for me. its hard to break even at current levels with no cl money n even a run to europa final would only make 6-8m.downsize n maybie we could get a desmond type owner who dznt get into debt to deeply.our prob is this debt n tax case.if we get hit with the worst case scenario it could even be liquidation.

Agree0 Disagree2

Not a chance of Liquidation - there is no winners in that at all, the taxman is not an idiot, Rangers are one of two golden geese in Scotland, the game would be a boogey for the whole of Scottish Football and that is never going to happen, Administration is a possibility but liquidation will never happen stop talking rot

Pete

Agree1 Disagree4

Pete; why would it never happen? admin means we still carry a huge debt in an industry thats finding it harder n harder to keep income streams high.lose the tax case say 40m,whytes black hole 10m,monies owed to whyte 18m theres 68m reasons why it might happen.be wary of mr ellis who seems to me to be hovering in the background and is a property developer who are of course known for their altruistic streak!!

Rangers debt still exists, Whyte did 'not' pay it off, it has been re-financed and taken on by another company, but it's still there FFS if you all didn't know that, you shouldnt even be commenting on anything.....eh! so what company or jacket pocket did Whyte pull 18m from,,,,the guy couldnt even have a company again until 2009, he was banned for 7 years,,,so he just dug up 18M....awe man, it's frightening!!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

So are you saying he never paid the money to the bank and the bank are stilled owed 18m?

we must be paying monthly interest on the 18m then

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

The £18m debt was transfered from Rangers to another company and the other company now owes the £18m to Lloyds. No details are known about the arrangement between the other company and Lloyds.

What is known is that as part of the agreement of the £18m debt being transfered from Rangers to the other company, Whyte now has a first ranking security in the sum of £18m over Rangers. In the event of administration Whyte, having the first ranking security, gets paid the first £18m of Rangers assets. Contrary to some earlier debate on this webpage, Whyte gets this before any payment to the taxman.

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorrry that is pure p"#h

you are telling me that a mysterious company (you dont know their name) took over our debt and that the mysterious company are willing to pay monthly interest on an 18m loan for an undefined period

lloyds bank can not agree that whyte gets first dabs on 18m of assets

JG

And by the way i for one dont believe your propoganda and never did over the last four decades either

I wish some of my fellow bears would do the same

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

Rubbish! HMRC is the first creditor cos they can walk in the door n sell the marble staircase if they dont get money in there timescale.think about it.

Agree1 Disagree2

Rubbish?? you are obviously not in touch at all, if you are gonna come on and rubbish facts, then don't come on at all.....the guys posting about the 18m being still owed are 200% correct......Whyte is the preferred creditor, and will get the value of any assetts up to 18m.....and as for HMRC, they are ''not'' first in line.....used to be, but not for a few years now HMRC are treated exactly the same as joe bloggs, only Whyte is the secured creditor.....basically, Whyte has cleared the 18m debt, but borrowed it himself from another bank....he has a personal guarantee (PG) from Rangers as a business, making him the preferred creditor, so he gets the assets up to 18m....that means that if gers go under, nobody gets paid, except Whyte, who then pays the ''new'' bank off, and theoretically has Rangers for nothing 'debt free'.
Is it really that complicated......you might think he's a bam, but he's not a daft bam........don't post sh** if you don't know the facts.

Agree3 Disagree0

You don't know the FACTS either - None of us do, so best to just wait and see what the Tax case brings and continue to support the club in the meantime.

Pete

Agree2 Disagree1

Denial time! you really think that HMRC would just shrug the shoulders n say ach well thats 50m away? you ever had any dealings with HMRC? i have n if your up front n honest n dont waste their time you get decent treatment but still have to pay.i worked abroad n they still hit me with a bill i had to pay inside 1 month.whytes giving them the runaround n he's gonna pay

craig whyte's wife started divorce proceedings.nothing to do with football i know but could impact badly on us if it turns messy.i would imagine a lot of dirty linen might come out.your thoughts ed? {Ed014's Note - I can't see it having any effect on the club.People divorce all the time.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

If she gets a large financial payment from Whyte that could affect what he could invest in the club.

Agree0 Disagree1

He has a pre nuptial agreement

JG

Agree0 Disagree3

Ed014;i mean in the financial sense, hell hath no fury etc,i know were not in L.A. but shes gonna get a payout and alimoney payments thats gotta impact on his personal finances {Ed014's Note - It still won't have any bearing on the club that I can think of.

Agree0 Disagree0

He has zero intention of putting his own money into our club as it is, so I don't see how it would affect us even if she took him for everything. He's a con man

Believable5 Unbelievable7

10 Jan 2012 19:41:15
A man buys a business for £1. If the business goes burst he legally gets the first £18m of the businesses assets (and prior to any claim from HMRC).

Question: Is it in the interests of Craig Whye for Rangers to go burst and walk away with a hugh pay off.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

What are you talking aboot? The £18m he would get if we went into administration is the £18m he paid to loyds banking group. Stop posting garbage ya bananaplum {Ed014's Note - He didn't pay anything. He took on the debt himself.

Agree2 Disagree2

That would be why he will get 18 mill ed? he took over debt to a parent co I think must be part of the terms? {Ed014's Note - I don't see why he will get £18m.He will need to find it himself to pay the bank, the debt is in his name now to a bank somewhere.

Agree2 Disagree0

His 18m is after the tax man gets his money.no money then asset stripping commences.could that be just what he wants?

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed014 and nameless posters I think you will need to do your research. Craig Whyte paid off the £18m to Loyds Banking Group. NO money is owed to LBG. If the unthinkable happens and Rangers went into administration. Whyte would get his money before anyone. He is in a win win situation. So can I just tell you guys and girls to get your facts right before posting rubbish. Ed ask your side kick Ed007 and he will keep you right lol.

Ps when Rang {Ed014's Note - Where did Whyte get £18million for?He borrowed it.The debt still exists but it is in another company's name.

Agree1 Disagree1

If Rangers go into administration Whyte gets £18m from Rangers before the taxman gets any money. This is because he has a legal security over Rangers assets in the sum of £18m and that it paid out by the administrator before any money to the taxman. This is a matter of public record.

Whyte transfered the £18m debt owed by Rangers to Lloyds to another company which now owes that money to Lloyds. As such Whyte did not repay the £18m debt.

Part of Whyte's secrecy in his takeover of Rangers is what arrangement this other company has with Lloyds for the repayment of the £18m debt, no one knows.

All that is known is that if Rangers go into administration, Whyte has a legal security over Rangers and he is due payment of the first £18m of Rangers assets by the administrator. This £18m payment takes predecence over anything that would be payable to the taxman.

Many Rangers fans think Whyte has paid off the £18m debt, but he has not.

Agree3 Disagree0

If it takes a man a week to walk a fortnight

Question how many tatties in a pound o mince FFS i am losing the plot reading some of the stuff posted on here

JG

Agree1 Disagree0

JG - I take it you are one of the many who thought Whyte had paid off the £18m debt. But don't worry, go back to your mince and tatties.

Agree3 Disagree0

There is no way he gets paid b4 the taxman m8.

Agree0 Disagree1

It's incredible that while the worlds banks were collapsing and sovereign states were grappling with massive deficits ,while respected economists struggled to come up with the answers , no one thought of calling the Celtic keyboard accountants society. {Ed014's Note - So no Rangers fans discuss this?

Agree1 Disagree0

ED 14 i must question your comment above

He did not pay anything he took on the debt himself

does that mean that the bank never received the money they were owed?

I look forward to your response ed14

JG {Ed014's Note - The bank got their money.Whyte borrowed it from another source. That's why he will still have to pay it back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whyte does get his £18m before the taxman. He has a first ranking legal security over Rangers assets. A "first ranking security" entitles you to payment from the assets before any other party, which includes the taxman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lloyds are not owed anything by anyone connected to Rangers, the Money was paid to them in full " Alistair Johnston said LLoyds forced this deal through. Now whether whyte, RFC holdings or Wavetower borrowed this money from somewhere else, that's another matter, but it is not owed to Lloyds and that is concrete.

The fact of the matter is we do not NEED to sign anyone this transfer window as long as we can keep the most our squad and especially Jelavic then I'm positive that we can win the league.
-They only managed to scrape a 1-0 win at home when they were the form team and we were apparently on our knees so there is nothing to fear there!
-They will no doubt hit a poor bit of form again especially without their talisman in midfield (or is that bottleman!)
-We are the champions and will conduct ourselves accordingly for the run-in and open a can of whoop ass on anyone that stands in the way! Mark my words...
Nicko 1872

Believable1 Unbelievable6

Sounds like your desperately trying to convince yourself.

Rangers need new players in. McCoist certainly thinks so.

Agree6 Disagree1

Yes we could do with freshening up but my point is that on current form we are not in as dire a situation as most would have us believe and could be an opportunity to get the youngsters more involved as well as reserve goals for Bedoya and McKay can't ever be considered a bad thing in the current economic climate.
Nicko 1872

Agree0 Disagree2

A blind man can see we need someone to create in midfield

JG

Agree4 Disagree0

Nicko 1872; see where your coming from m8 but we would need to go thru season with no suspension or injury problems.

Agree0 Disagree2

You just keep believing mate. jelavic is getting hawked around england to the first club which will pay £5m. cheap replacement in to partner healy. wake up man the taxman and administration is as sure as night follows day.

Agree2 Disagree0

That 1-0 was the biggest 1-0 humping i've seen in a football match. you werent at the races that day, and if things went as well as they have been for celtic, it could easily have been 5-0

I am convinced this interest in the Spanish boy is more of Whyte's ploy to pull the wool over our eyes again. God knows he did it in the summer on numerous occasions. We have no money now we are interested in a £2.5m player, really?

We seem to have no money for Sandaza now and yet we can afford £2.5m. It makes no sense and we will put in some ridiculous bid, then bid £20 more, and then we won't get him, but Whyte will say we tried. As every day passes I have less ans less faith in this guy. Here we go again, more embarassment.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Its in the daily rebel so it must be true eh, get a grip mate

JG

Agree0 Disagree0

It's also on the official rangers site, mccoist has confirmed his interest, and got know he done this numerous times in the summer which came to nothing the majority of the time, goodwillie, dannes and hemed just to name a few.

RFCJ

Agree3 Disagree1

I may not be up to scratch with my english but

Asked if he would be interested in signing the player if the chance to sign him came up, McCoist added: "Quite possibly. He is a very good player and if the opportunity arose, yes."

This sounds like he was responding to a question from the press and gve a non specific answer

If the oppertunity arose to sign Messi he would say yes as well but we all know the reality right now

Why do so many bears get sucked in by the press and the east end propogandists

JG

He could just easily turn around two the press an say am not willing two discuss players who are at other teams wud be clever thing two do

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Hes doing it to let Mr Charlatan Whyte know that he NEEDS players and letting everyonw know his hands are tied with Mr Whyte and that hes withholding the key to the WARCHEST

£2m for guerra 34 goals in 55 appearances but why gamble on a player playing in the segunda divison.?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Because it probably still manages to produce much more quality than the SPL?

Agree3 Disagree0

Would you not want to sign one of the top goalscorers in the English Championship.
That is basically how good this Guerra guy really is, and that is good enough for me and I'm sure it would be enough for most Gers fans.

Agree2 Disagree0

If he was that good he would be playing in La Liga.

Agree1 Disagree2

Ortiz was playing La Liga (as a right back mind you) did extremely well for 2 seasons we buy him and play him in midfield and he gets dogs abuse, If that is average la Liga what is Secunda players going to be treated like, Ally will play him as a sweeper

Pete

Agree0 Disagree0

The third post is interesting, most of the posters on here were crying out for the likes of Billy Sharp who plays for Doncaster and J Rhodes for Huddersfield and look at the money their clubs are looking for them. If....we were to get the spanish segunda lad then shouldn't we(in an ieal world)give the boy a chance to pull on the jersey and play a few games before we slag him off for only playing in the second division of one of the best leagues in the world?

This new Rangers system of buying players is a joke. Having a lot of "interest" but not buying. Hamdi Salihi was suposidly going to Rangers now Celtic have snaapped him up for a reduced price. This is the real reason Rangers are behind Celtic. BAD BUSINESS" we should go back to the ways of Walter find players we like buy them and don't create thousands of rumours about it. David Goodwillie was just embarassing if we had offered 2 mill at the start he would have played for us but no we leave him buy ortiz, bedoya and other duds instead of spending big on one or two players. This is the reality of Rangers no Spanish hitman for 2 million at best a loan player and Sandazza. What is this great club comming to?

Was in the ticket office today and there were 24 people. What do these people do? We have approx 40,000 season tickets, so approx 10000 tickets a week to be sold. I remember the ticket office was in a small office at the main door and Margaret was the only one in the ticket office. At old firm games she got her husband in part time to help.

I don't want to see anyone lose their job but 20 wages would help with a player's wage. Another sign of Sir David's business acumen perhaps.

Incidentally does anybody know when JJB deal expires. Imagine selling the family silver.

Craig Whyte contacted Ken Dodd for some advice re Tax issues.
Mr Whyte said he was "Brokenhearted" as his "Promises" had not come to fruition. He asked Ken Dodd "Let me cry on your shoulder" as "Tears wont wash away these heartaches" and that any tax settlement was "Just out of Reach"
To this Ken Dodd replied "Happiness, Happiness" because I am a Tim!

Time to hand Bocanegra the captaincy IMO.

I'm not going to get tore in about wee Davis all i'm saying is i can't see him leading us to a title.

Bocanegra looks the part, has the expierence and his form has been consistant since he's came in. Davis has been hot and cold all season, perhaps the pressure of being captain is effecting his game? Take the pressure off him, maybe his form will improve.

Looking back over the years we've had guys like Davie Weir and Barry Ferguson who have a presence about them, unfortunatly wee Davis hasn't.

ok, before you string me up take 5 mins to reply. I am aware the suggestion has been kicked about before, but how many of you would pay (say£500-£1000) to purchase part of the club? I know there is German clubs who operate a system along those lines and alos Barcelona etc. Just curious to see how many would be willing to try something like this and aim for raising some much needed funds. I know there are loads of responses etc to this and will get the normal pessimistic samrt arsed answers. Just a thought.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

This might be in whytes thinking.the only thing that might stop it is the shockingly bed response when murray had a share issue and that was in much more secure financial times.i think i probably would invest 1k but the wife could never know! moneys tight for lots of us so its tricky.

Agree2 Disagree0

I can see where your coming from mate but times are hard for everyone. I count myself extremly lucky to have kept my job throughout the recession when a lot of folk were losing theirs. However, i still wouldn't be in a position to commit any more money to Rangers than i already do. ticket prices are shocking, especially in Scotland. Well over 20 quid for a SPL game at Ibrox? Germany is the most attended league in the world due to their ticket pricing, drop the prices-fill the stadiums. Anyway i digress... my point is we fans pay more than enough already and the club has to show the commitment we do. season after season we contribute millions to Rangers, at the moment i think our money is just keeping the club in business. The previous regime let the club down by operating outwith their means and now we're paying the price. Personally i wouldn't be in a position to contribute anymore money to Rangers, i'm sure this will be the case for a majority.

Does anyone know why Stephen Whittker got that new contract? Can't believe he's on 20k a week

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I think it could be in the long run we'll get more money in a transfer fee, no way is he worth £20,000 a week, cost us a few games this season.

Agree1 Disagree0

A don't have a season ticket at Ibrox and so do not see Whittaker week in week out, but everytime I watch him he is hard working and solid if not spectacular.

Don't understand why so many fans think he is rubbish.

Agree1 Disagree6

Whittacker is NOT a defender and mccoist should start playing him in the midfield to get the best out of him

Agree3 Disagree2

The 1 word you can't use to describe Whittaker is solid. A defender that can't defend is far from solid.
Johnger

Midfield...minefield more like.......

Agree1 Disagree0

Surely the big contracts for him, greegs ans davis were to make sure we got a fair fee if they were sold.i still think we might lose one of them

Agree2 Disagree0

Think he's on 27k a week which makes it even worse

Rangers have no money. Forwarding the notion that your team will not be buying anyone in this window or the next or the one after that. This page is invalid. Stop wasting your time. HH Treble Winners 2012!

Personally I wouldnt try and buy 1 player for 2 million, I'd rather we strengthen the squad in numbers, try for players like Alan smith and Peter lovenkrands from Newcastle, both could be bought cheap and both out of favour at Newcastle, smith can play anywhere and lovenkrands still has his blistering pace which rangers could do with up front

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Both players are currently getting paid more than any gers player so we can forget it !

Germinator

Agree6 Disagree0

Lovenkrands and Smith. You clearly know nothing about football. Both would not improve us. Both are past 30 years old and past it.

Agree8 Disagree1

Remind me what age is boca? Does that mean he hasn't improved the team?

Agree1 Disagree1

Look doesnt matter both players gettin paid too much, its a non starter and will never happen.

Still can't understand why the previous board etc seem to be getting off scot free by the press etc. The question surely must be asked, who is responsible for putting us in this position in the first place?

If they have realistic targets, go in and get them on the quiet- if poss- instead of making it public knowledge who they wish for. Will believe any 'interest' when I see the players in blue shirts on the pitch.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

You do realise that any interest or info givin to the media will come from the agent ! 90% of the time its them its their way of touting their client to toher parties by letting others know or think there is interest. Y would coisty or anyone go out and pubilcy state their targets (unless its like the goodwillie time were im sure the bid was to get the fans backing rather than to actually buy goodiwllie) however i dp agree with you on the transfer target thing (i assume your referring to the spanish boy) ill believe it wen i see it ... personally if we are gonna spend 2m on a player id prefer it if he was just comin into his peak ie. 25/26.

Get real, football goes beyond Glasgow and what we have now is as good as it will get.Sadly,Scottish football R.I.P.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Actually, the league is getting harder not to the point their are other challengers unfortunately but teams like St. Mirren & St. Johnstone have really impressed me this season, sadly all the best young talents which seem to be Rangers fans are heading south lol.

ED. How do you feel about Edu leaving in this transfer window?
I'm not a fan of him but the stats don't lie this season:

In our 3 spl defeats he didn't start in 2 of them (st mirren and celtic) and the other ( kilmarnock) he was taken of after 70 mins and they scored in 80 mins.

Defeat to Falkirk in cup: he didn't play.

In our 3 SPL draws he played 90 mins in 2 of them ( hearts and st johnstone). The other (st mirren) he was subbed after 72 mins and they scored in 90 mins.

I think we should keep him! Keeno {Ed001's Note - I think there are many other players that should be out the door long before Edu, such as McCulloch.}

Believable11 Unbelievable0

Exactly Ed. Players like McCulloch and Broadfoot should be out the door long before Rangers even think about getting some money for Edu.

The Scotsman reports this morning that trading in Rangers FC's shares on the Plus stock market has been suspended due to their failure to file audited accounts. It seems that Mr. Whyte isn't worried about this but it is all rather worrying for Rangers fans. I don't understand why he would 'take over' Rangers and then be in serious mire with debt, having taken so long to go through due diligence. Let's hope that the HMRC tax case goes in our favour and maybe some stability can return. What's your take on Whyte's takeover Ed? {Ed001's Note - to be honest, it is hardly a surprise, the club was in such a state when he took over, there were always going to be problems in the short term. A lot depends on the HMRC, all the other issues are resolvable, in my opinion. It is impossible to say whether the club is going in the right direction or not at the moment. It will be years before anyone will be able to tell for sure, by then it will be too late, unfortunately.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think this was always on the cards as im pretty sure were heading to admin.whytes comments to fans were deffo a pre-emptive strike to soften things up.i cant see anything other than a loss in the "big" tax case and theres already 2m owed from the "wee" tax case.my big concern is mr ellis who seems to lurk in the shadows somewhat.we also dont know who else has invested in the holding company which seems to own us.now whytes being investigated by the plus stock exchange and the audit irregularities and postponement of the agm all worry me.i think we all just want the truth.

Only 1K of shares have been sold in the last 8 weeks, the 15% of shares that are left are people like myself with a few hundred pounds worth of shares.

Not renewing your season ticket? I bet your one of the majority of so-called fans who go to ibrox these days & shouts your s**te at rangers players & gets restless if we haven't scored 3 mins into the game then leaves 10 mins early. why do you people even come to ibrox we are suppose to support our team not get on there backs & that's probably why we are not playing well, confidence is down because of people like you moaning at them every week. If I decided not to renew my ticket it would be because of w**kers who sit in the stands not because of players we sign

Rangers linked with £2million rated spanish striker Javi Guerra of Real Valladolid. 29 years old, 32 goals in 52 games for them. seems decent.

They may disagree because they believe that there's no way Rangers can afford that amount without first selling players.

I'd take O'Conner. I bet many celtic fans said the same about Stokes(who has, unfortunately, been brilliant)... support the club in their time of need and be realistic! We're completely skint and need to take what we can get! Mon the gers and any 'fan' that bitches about the club or Whyte isn't a real fan. Support the club eh guys!

rangers will not splash any wer near a million on any player even if jella is sold we are not even willing two pay 300k for sandazza so fans can forget about all these names like tamuz elmander ect not going happen rangers always conduct there business in the wrong way an us fans deserve better

10 Jan 2012 01:09:01
I know the guy who lives accross the road from a guy whos wee sisters boyfriend washes Craig Whytes Windows LOL! and he said that Rangers will be signing Sandazza on a Pre Contract and offering a nominal fee in the region 0f £100k to sign now if StJohnstone don't accept then rangers will seriously consider signing Novo or O'Connor but only on a short deal untill the end of the Season.

If Jelavic is sold Rangers will Resign The marsbarsuperstar (Kris Boyd obviously!) AND Murphy from Motherwell as Replacements as McCoist needs to add some quality up top.

Post makes complete sense, unless something develops re: tax case before the end of the month to more clearly establish an amount due they won't be in any position to be signed then either.

I have no idea why the directors said they would be filed by the end of this month if they don't anticipate the tax case being any further forward. You're right in as much that makes no sense whatsoever.

You really get some idiots on here Ed.
I have always supported Rangers and always will but I must say I am not sure if there is any money to be spent at the moment. I know ally has said there is however anyone can dress things up in interviews.
However whether Rangers sign anyone or not I will still be at every game until the end of the season supporting my team.
And for everyone on here slating Sansaza, he is a clever player who to be honest ripped Goain to bits at Ibrox just a few weeks back! So why slate him? Because we are not buying him for 6 million?
Those days are over and Sandaza is a decent buy for us at the moment.
