Our striker martyn waghorn is now the top goalscorer in britain at this moment in time, yet another fabulous signing by 'the magic hat'! Waggy is currently on 25 goals and imo he'll go on to score between 35-40 goals for the season injury permitting, it doesn't matter what league your in that would be a tremendous achievement for waggy and of course glasgow rangers even though there's been quite a few penalties in there, a little debate here, what do other bears out there reckon how many goals waggy will score for the season.

10 Jan 2016 23:17:31
I would agree he's prob got another 10 or so in him granted a lot of pens but still got to put them away fair play To him been great business need him to stay injury free.

10 Jan 2016 23:53:53
Surely 35 isn't out of the question.

11 Jan 2016 08:04:22
I woulda thought he will hit 40, we are virtually picking up a penalty per game due to the way tav is running at defenders in the opponents box.

11 Jan 2016 09:48:03
I think we'll see him kick on to a whole new level when we sign an out and out goal scorer and don't have to rely on him as our main goal threat.

Seeker I remember a day when every sign in was being questioned! I myself hadn't ever heard on Waghorn or Tav but I'm not the manager so only fair these guys got a chance to prove. And look what's happened! As for Warbs I've never ever doubted the guy. He is one of the few who has no real football background and for ANYONE to come in to the game and manage football clubs successfully is a massive achievement. No doubt he will one day move on to the EPL but until then I can only see titles and cups coming our way. Just a thought. If Warbs and the Celtic gaffer were up against each other in a different league managing different teams, who would you back?! I think Warbs if a far superior manager, he speak about the game better, he speaks to the media better, even the way he dictates the team from the dugout is seriously encouraging! The guy has it all.

10 Jan 2016 19:57:58
Surely you have to wait until both teams are in the same league before drawing any comparisons. We are still in the 2nd tier of Scottish football and how good the players actually are can only be known once we are back in the top flight.

10 Jan 2016 22:28:33
Why wait to make that comparison? Let's not lie here. The years we have been out the Premier League Celtic have not pulled away from the rest of Scottish football, the gap has got smaller and over the past year we have got considerably better! Would I take Delia over Warbs? Not a chance, Collins over Weir? Not a chance! I never compared players or leagues in my previous post. I asked about the 2 managers.

12 Jan 2016 14:29:09
Ok but my argument remains the same for the managers you can only compare them when they are competing against each other in the same league.

10 Jan 2016 17:35:56
Arsenal fan in peace guys. Watched your game today to see how Zelalem is getting on, thought he did OK. How has he been so far this season? Thought you played some nice football at times and think Warbuton has you going in the right direction with a positive football philosophy. Hard to tell how far behind you are compared to the top league but I don't think you are far off . Best of luck for rest of season guys.

10 Jan 2016 17:53:00
Some nice words Number 14,much appreciated my friend, to reiterate what you've said yes I totally agree that our manager mark warburton has got us playing very good football and I believe he's building something very special at rangers from top to bottom, he's a great manager imo and we'll only appreciate how good he is when he's not here as our manager anymore, on zelalem, he's all the makings of a right good player who is very skillful and always finds space, he's doing ok for us but I definitely think he's still a bit slight and needs to bulk up a little.

{Ed039's Note - I think with Zelalam being from Arsenal and playing with this current Rangers side in the Championship is that it suits him being on the ball and playing the attractive side of football, the problem with this and what he is going to/already lack is being able to dig in and and learn the dirty and gritty side of football)

10 Jan 2016 18:11:10
I reckon you'll get a mixed response on that question. He's obviously got a bit of class about him, great touch, good vision and can link up play. For one so young, he's excellent. However, he is young and lacks a bit of bite and sometimes looks for perfection when forward direction looks like the better option. He's a very good player who will be a great one and I'm glad he's staying on another 6 months. Hopefully he'll improve after his stint in one of the finest leagues in global football.

10 Jan 2016 18:27:12
I was at the game today and thought Zelalem did very well. He's obviously a good player and the more physical edge up here will stand him in good stead for when he goes back to Arsenal. Mark Warburton has transformed the club in a short space of time. Every one of his signings have been a success and the team always get the ball down and try to play football instead of route one stuff under the previous regime. I believe that with another couple of decent additions in the summer we will certainly be able to compete in the top flight. Delighted to see the Arsenal also doing well again. I've always had a soft spot for your team and would love to see them win the title this year. Good luck!

10 Jan 2016 19:25:54
Zelalem needs to take a pop at goal more, he has a certain amount of vision but can be to tippy tappy at times. I think the main problem will be in the guy's head, he keeps getting told he's great and will achieve big things, and I think he believes it, I sometimes get the feeling he don't wanna be here?

11 Jan 2016 06:41:36
He's a very classy player with the proverbial silky touch and his unique turning style on the ball means he always creates space and time for himself. It's easy to forget that he's only 18. I'd like him to add goals to his arsenal. Had to use that. It won't be easy for him to break into the Arsenal midfield, such is the wealth of talent there, but he will and you've got yourself a real gem of a player.

11 Jan 2016 09:40:37
Thank for the replies. I watch a lot of football because I love the sport and I enjoy seeing it played the way it should be, skilfully and with flair. I think that Rangers, under Warburton, and if given a few years, will gain your team a lot of fans outwith Scotland as fans love watching an attractive style of football. It will take time but I'm impressed by what Warbuton has done in a short space of time. I'm also a big believer in youth development and from what I hear Rangers are putting together a good foundation that will show rewards in about 4-5 yrs . The future is looking promising for your club .

Hello Bears, new to the site so just looking to voice my opinion on a few things to see if my fellow followers agree. First. Warbs, Weir, all the back room guys, players and staff at Murrah Park deserve a massive applause for making guys like me believe again in what's going on at Ibrox! Second is the current team which I think is only a few players away from being a real top side. A CD, DMF and ST needed, really like what we have on the flanks and the two Accrington boys also look decent. Lastly it's about Frank McPartland. This is a guy with bags and bags of contacts, stacks of knowledge and knows the scouting game inside out. Frankly if he identifies a player then who are we (as fans) to disagree. I couldn't care if the players come from Arsenal or Accrington, if this guy (and the management team) like someone. I'll support them! Still to many doubters looking for excuses to doubt or provide negative comments in my opinion.

Scott.

{Ed039's Note - Welcome to the site Scott. Don't be a stranger)

10 Jan 2016 17:46:12
It would be interesting to see what Warburton does should Wallace or Tavenier get injured as we don't seem to have any cover for either.

{Ed039's Note - Halliday would be the cover for Wallace and Aird would come in for Tavernier should they get injured)

10 Jan 2016 18:32:25
Aird is so far from the first team I doubt very much he would be considered good enough. As for Halliday it would only take a few injuries or suspensions in the midfield and we would be stretched.

{Ed039's Note - You are talking ifs, buts and maybes with suspensions, Danny Wilson can also play left back and Dom Ball has filled in at full back as well. I wouldn't expect any signings in those areas)

10 Jan 2016 18:40:53
Scott
Hard to disagree with any elements in your post. The difference between the club in every department now and 12 months ago is as wide as the Clyde. I also agree with you about the negativity of some posters on the site. We've had it all over the months - Waghorn, Miller, Halliday, Tavernier, McKay, even wee Holt was getting it at one point. They were all useless and wouldn't cut it in the top flight. We even had one guy posting that MW would have to go when Hibs opened the scoring at Ibrox. People really need to get a grip ffs.

10 Jan 2016 18:54:03
Would agree I don't think there will be movement in that area but it would be concerning if either picked up a long term injury. Was hoping there would be a few young full backs at the club. Think we have a right back out on loan but not sure if his loan has been extended or he is back.

{Ed039's Note - Ryan Sinnamon is on loan at Falkirk, his loan hasn't been extended but I think he is on loan until the end of the transfer window anyway. Aird would be the guy to play right back)

11 Jan 2016 10:35:46
Hi Biffo!

Normally I feel you are a wee bit negative for me but I agree with your concerns on our cover of our full backs being limited.
Warburton has always advocated a "lean" squad leading to everyone having site of the first team and therefore trying harder but we are just a bit too short for comfort.
I rate young Sinnamon at RB quite highly but not sure about first team just yet and Aird coming in worries meas he's not a right back. However it's the other side that's the biggest concern. E. G. If Wallace and Kiernan picked up knocks. Ball would take centre back and then only really Halliday can play left and there goes our midfield steel!
I reckon that Warbs has decided that other areas are a priority and CB, CDM and ST are more crucial.
Once the new season comes the likes of Aird will be gone and more funds available for full back cover. Here's hoping we stay fit until then!

10 Jan 2016 16:16:27
Been listening too the Celtic game on the radio and as clear as day you can hear the Celtic support singing "the roll of honour". I call on all my fellow bears to make complaints about this because when its us we all know what happens. If you take a look at the rangers page on their rumours site its calling us sectarian this and that. Their fans are in complete denial about their own sectarian terrorist supporting chants.

10 Jan 2016 16:19:06
or you could just let them get on with it.
Concentrate on educating our own fans that they shouldn't be singing sectarian songs. When we stop then the focus will be on Celtic.

10 Jan 2016 16:23:45
Well said let's get our own house in order first.

10 Jan 2016 18:00:54
Agreed. No point in moaning about what Celtic supporters sing. We have our own house to put in order first.

10 Jan 2016 18:43:11
Aye but it's really annoying that our club gets vilified for this while the other lot's indiscretions are largely ignored. Not saying any of this stuff should be tolerated btw.

10 Jan 2016 20:23:04
The Seeker

It may be but that kind of comment is like something from their website. We think they get away with stuff, they think we get away with stuff. When we are squeaky clean, we can get then have a go at others. Long way to go though.

Cheers.

10 Jan 2016 21:52:56
Who cares what they are doing?

10 Jan 2016 22:19:11
Think people are far too thin skinned. This talk about reporting other teams fans seems a bit petty and too much like grassing for me.
These songs are always going to be sang by parts of BOTH sets of fans, best just accepting it.

10 Jan 2016 16:10:53
I know it's not a rumour but I didn't get to go to the game today, how did harry forrester look in the 30mins he played?

10 Jan 2016 16:18:04
Like he hasn't played for 3 month.

10 Jan 2016 16:19:42
didnt do much.

10 Jan 2016 19:03:21
He had a couple of decent runs, a fine cross that somebody should have been on the end of and seemed to fit in ok with the style of football. All in all not brilliant but promising imo.

10 Jan 2016 19:13:07
He only got 30 min hard to say, he'll need to get his fitness up and we all need to give the boy a chance, the Gaffer obviously rates him but based on first opinion and on everything I've said looks not any better than what we have let's hope he's a good one!

10 Jan 2016 20:18:33
Looks like a winger.

10 Jan 2016 15:07:35
MacKay and Miller brightest for an hour. Joy to watch. Mon the gers.

10 Jan 2016 16:18:12
Thought that was wee Barry's best game yet, I know it was only Cowdenbeath but what a goal to cap it.

10 Jan 2016 19:09:11
Aye he played well again. And to think he could well have been wasting away in the lower divisions if Ally had had his way. It's plain for everybody to see the lad is a special talent. He's young and will make mistakes but if we can just give him some support and encouragement I'm sure he'll become an extra special player for us.

10 Jan 2016 14:32:57
Just been watching forrester for the last wee while here and have to say he seems quite a bit off the pace. I hope Warburton knows something we don't as going by this he is not good enough. He seems lost.

10 Jan 2016 14:53:47
Just as well he is on a short term contract then. Maybe he should be given a chance though. He is just in the door.

10 Jan 2016 14:58:27
Good grief it's the boys debut give him a chance.

10 Jan 2016 15:01:03
Agreed, not a great debut but in The Hat we trust!
Thought Gideon had a better game doc, but you're right, wouldn't be happy if he were our own player.

10 Jan 2016 15:06:56
Op that is 1 of the most ridiculous posts I've seen on here and believe me there's been some belters. I'm still shaking my head.

10 Jan 2016 15:13:10
Fgs the boy hasn't played for a while give him a chance jeez.

10 Jan 2016 15:38:54
I'm all for giving people a chance and like I said I hope Warburton knows something i don't but my first impression is he's not ready to play for us yet! Sloppy first touch, no pace and if you are comparing him to someone like McKay you can see he has some way to get to his level even! I hope I'm proved wrong! Good result and second half performance from the lads though! Who would we all like in the next round? I would take anyone part from Celtic at home! Keep them for the final! 😜.

10 Jan 2016 15:13:32
we win 5-1 and people come on here with negativity for god sake forrester has just arrived at the club about a week ago give the lad a chance. another pleasing result today and my honest opinion of forrester was it looked like he has a trick or two up his sleeve and when he is fully settled he could be an exciting prospect.

10 Jan 2016 17:30:04
I'm sure we remember laudrup struggled for a while. You can catch an interview on youtube between Smith and chick charnley were he basically says laudrup and boli are sh**te after there first couple of games.

{Ed039's Note - Said interview is a much watch for anybody who hasn't seen it. STRONG LANGUAGE WARNING http://tinyurl.com/zegltcn)

10 Jan 2016 18:01:08
Just like I've posted for weeks now regarding how negative some of our fans are, for yourself thejuanpacer, have a word with yourself, like hooly78 said that has to be one of the worst posts I've read on here for a helluva time, forrester has just come on as a sub for us, give the guy a chance and trust our management team.

10 Jan 2016 18:06:06
And that interview is a belter. Smith even invites Archie Knox to get involved and they both rip the p**h out of Chick "you'll be going for a few pints after that performance" Young.

10 Jan 2016 19:01:25
Have a word with myself? What, for pointing out that a player was absolute mince? I don't think so. And as for my post being ridiculous, I think you need a word with your chum hooly who just compared forrester to one of our greatest ever players! I have an opinion and if you don't like it, lump it. It would be a pretty pointless forum if everyone just agreed with everyone about everything to do with out great club. Some things are not great, it's not being negative, it's called having an opinion, you clearly disagree which is your own opinion! Like I said I'm willing to give the guy a chance and I hope he proves me wrong because then I will be the one who looks stupid. Let's just agree to disagree on this one as you clearly watched a different player from the one I watched.

{Ed039's Note - Bloody hell guys, I think everybody needs to take a look at themselves, the guy made a substitute appearance against Cowdenbeath having played very little football this season. Let him get a few games under his belt then ask the question)

10 Jan 2016 19:26:07
Ffs not ready? Give the guy a chance. If u can't bring a new signing on to get him match fit when we are 5-1 up when the f**k can u? Thought we were outstanding today btw and great to see wee Barry McKay going past men on the outside. What a difference. Also forget the penalties but Martyn waghorn is something else. Work rate, skill, passing quality.

10 Jan 2016 13:57:13
Zelalem won't do. No imagination no end product flatters to deceive.

10 Jan 2016 16:23:32
Disagree. He's got all the ability, he's young he'll get stronger. If he can start shooting at goal he'll be even better. But that's the academy mindset where ball retention is paramount.

10 Jan 2016 16:33:27
Forgot to add, we won't benefit from it though. I'm talking 2 years from now he'll be the real deal.

10 Jan 2016 17:24:34
Watching a different game to me Doc! I thought the wee guy played a great game. If he could get a wee goal would help his confidence no end.

10 Jan 2016 17:49:39
In the position he plays he will need to add goals to his game. Very neat and tidy player however he lacks the killer pass and has virtually no goal threat. These are 2 areas he needs to improve dramatically to get anywhere near the Arsenal first team.

10 Jan 2016 18:46:46
I thought the lad had a very good game. Some people must be watching something else.

{Ed039's Note - He certainly didn't do anything wrong, maybe clutching at straws he should have got a goal but apart from that I don't think he had a bad game, its easier for him when we dominate against this sort of opposition)

10 Jan 2016 19:37:06
I must have missed these bits of great play. I saw someone going through the motions keen to be involved but never looked dangerous. Plenty distribution but never threatened to create anything of value. Two ventures into the box exposed him as lacking the necessary killer instinct. Barry MacKay gets plenty negative posts on here and was excellent, creative not frightened to try something risky and a great run and finish.

10 Jan 2016 20:11:57
Thejuanpacer I was also at our game today just like I'm at every game to watch our great club and to answer some of your points of course everyone has different opinions and are very much entitled to but all I'm saying is don't try and judge a player who's played very little football of late and only made a subs appearance for us today, the last piece of your post stating I was watching a different player from you is wide of the mark because I didn't once say forrester was good today but I believe he will be given time as I trust warbs judgement of a player as his signings to date for us have been superb, I'll echo what I'm trying to say don't judge a player after a fleeting appearance wait and see after at least a few more games.

10 Jan 2016 00:43:30
Think some people watched sportscene tonight and seen the dunfermline striker had a good game no we want to sign him lol lay of the beers troops.

10 Jan 2016 01:39:14
Somebody, I can't remember who, was going in about signing a player from Dunfermline a few weeks ago and got slated for it.

10 Jan 2016 11:47:19
Alberz it was me who said a fortnight ago about rangers after a Dunfermline player it wasn't just a rumour it come from a Dunfermline director to a friend of mine don't know who the player was as no names were mentioned.
