Chesney must be puffing bangers. after that game on sat he said second half was the best Scotland had played in a while! Wtf then he says Chris Martin was magnificent? Clearly watched a different game to what I seen. also how can you go into a home game against that mob with one striker up top. reeks of negativity imo.

10 Oct 2016 20:13:05
Don't think it's the one up top that's the problem most teams play that at international level it's the one they played up top that was the problem, I'd fancy Clint hill to outrun Chris Martin lol totally agree your point about his interview he's lost the plot has chezzer.

10 Oct 2016 20:38:46
Yeah but to play one up front the other 10 have to be pretty dam decent for that to be effective and let's face it we are far from being a decent team. scotland and are best when they are pressing high up the park and playing at a quick tempo. i would agree that one up top is prob the way to go against the better nations but Lithuania at home. come on tae.

10 Oct 2016 22:00:28
Time for change if we don't qualify for the world cup, imo the next scotland manager and outstanding candidate out there is billy davies.

10 Oct 2016 23:35:59
Would be fine with Davies but Strachan has been told the jobs his if he still wants it, f**king unbelievable! Still think that Alex Neil should be considered when the time comes as its going to be well difficult to qualify best we can hope for is 2nd and then we've got a play-off game and knowing our luck we'll get a top top team that should've qualified automatically. So if the s. f. a ain't giving it to Strach then who? What other Scottish Manager is out there? Don't all jump when I mention Neil would just like to see someone a bit younger have a go.

10 Oct 2016 23:36:48
Supercoop its changed days, i think of it this way, i remember scotland qualifying for 6 world cups in a row, and that doesn't seem that long time ago. i am getting on in life, and I've heard it said time flies bye as you get older, never a truer saying, lol.

11 Oct 2016 11:03:16
You and me both bigjoh85.

11 Oct 2016 13:37:10
strachans tactics aswell as team selection are a joke and make us look to be even worse than we are.
we need players like McKay naisy that wee thumb forrest playing and the midfield is shocking looked as if Lithuania had susperstars running their midfield compared to us . don't see why halliday and that can't get a shout.
but same old Strachan anyone says its red he says blue because he has to be different.
I for one like Darren fletcher but since3 he came bacvk from that illness he hasn't had it and shouldn't be playing anymore.

11 Oct 2016 13:57:50
Aye the hobbit has lost the plot. You can put money on him finally bringing in a few of the lads we have been shouting for, McCormack, Rhodes, even Holt and then giving us a glimmer of hope this campaign. But as per we'll blow it. Then it'll be: ah nearly, almost. What if?

I'd even put money on the hobbit taking full credit for bringing in McCormack etc and when they start banging them in, he'll insist it was his idea all along. Such is his arrogance.

11 Oct 2016 15:09:51
My problem with strachan is the amount of times he's contradicted himself. He said he didn't pick lee Wallace cause he was playing in 1st div then he picked John maginn who was playing in same div. he also said Jordan Rhodes wasn't playing enough for his club but he plays Hutton who wasn't playing at all for his club.

11 Oct 2016 16:11:46
Bigjoh85,

I don't think Scotland did qualify for 6 world cups in a row. Was it not 6 out of 7 from 1974-1998? Missing out of 1994.

12 Oct 2016 13:20:13
Biffo 361 your right enough mate, it was only 5 times in a row, my mistake, old age doesn't come alone, lol.

10 Oct 2016 18:31:59
What the Hell is Going on with Barton?
Is 3 weeks not enough time to make a decision one way or another. We are looking like a amateur outfit, probably disrespectful to Amateurs.

10 Oct 2016 18:40:18
At least you have all the information on the situation to tell if we are handling it correctly or not.

10 Oct 2016 20:13:15
Regardless of what allegedly happen this has not been handled well by club, his outspoken past was not hidden from view before he was signed, my opinion is that our manager has not had the experience of dealing with a high profile footballer like Barton and obviously joey has undermined him verbally, not sure this will be the first time in football this has happened (arguments happen everyday st clubs), rangers must eventually spill what has gone on but can't help feeling he's been made a scapegoat for a poor start of season and gaffer didn't have balls to drop him when obviously he wasn't fully fit or performing.

10 Oct 2016 23:05:10
mjg in these days of stringent employment laws nolonger can u chase someone out the door without carrying out the relevant procedures the betting fiasco surfaced after first ban making further punishment and investigation by the s f a having to be proven and dealt with.

10 Oct 2016 23:06:21
He was suspended for 3 weeks then the gambling stuff came to light. Gives the club another week to find the necessary loopholes to get rid of him because after missing pre season he has been nothing short of crap. I was excited when he signed but he does nothing but slow our play down and other teams players walk by him for fun. Nothing to do with scapegoats or anything like that. Same folk on here last season giving Danny Wilson pelters and I said he was a scapegoat. He will end up a top class defender and still only 25.

10 Oct 2016 23:58:45
Mjp1067 , i don't look at them being at fault, they are obviously looking at very closely, to see where they stand if they get rid of barton. imho, shadow bear, once the barton saga has finished, we might not get the real story for years. even if it ends by a pay off agreement, cause that is what happens these days. there probably be a clause in place to prevent either party from talking about it.

11 Oct 2016 14:01:46
I wouldn't be putting the blame for this fiasco at the clubs door. It's Barton's fault. If he just kept his trap shut then there wouldn't be a problem. All the talk of poor results and performances this season can be put at his door. He has effected the squad dynamic and caused us to under perform. I'd have him suspended for the full season if we can't get shot of him.

10 Oct 2016 16:51:26
Ohalloran has to get a run of games in the side along with dodoo and garner through the middle. moh has great pace and would be an outlet when under pressure.

10 Oct 2016 18:23:46
Having an outlet when under pressure isn't a problem for us, our problem is we aren't moving the ball quick enough and aren't clinical in the final 3rd we tend to dominate without putting games to bed! Ohalleran for me isn't the answer, would like dodoo to get a run tho.

10 Oct 2016 18:45:33
Putting games to bed is the only real problem.

Think Garner will only be effective if he gets a winger who doesn't cut in and shoot for themselves like McKay and Waghorn.

Tavernier plays in defence and seems to be the only player willing to swing a cross into the box.

10 Oct 2016 19:43:53
We have no pace in the wide areas at all apart from McKay who insists on cutting back after beating his man. moh is prob the quickest player in our squad and if we got the ball moved quicker rite through the team I think you would see the benefit of him playing. i think you always need pace in a side regardless of which way the team plays.

10 Oct 2016 23:49:10
Mckay has to cut in! He's right footed and has no other option we NEED a left footer desperately! Warbs must bring in a couple of leftys and raid the top 4-5 teams down South, they have an abundance of talent valued in the millions Roberts at that mob for example. Feel for Mckay in that regard but Forrester and O'halloran would be doing the same, we were looking at Winks at Spurs and a lad at Liverpool both wingers and I think left footers. Anyways not sayin that bang answer to our problem, I think that we WILL get our rubbish together AND give them a game in the semi I just think a left winger is needed. Thoughts?

10 Oct 2016 23:56:46
I think you better tell the manager.

Moh hasn't exactly taken his chances that he has been given.

Running is one thing but if you can't pass, cross or shoot at the end of it then it means nothing.

I'd love him to come good, and we could do with it, but I think it's been a mistake to sign him- like I said ar the time.

11 Oct 2016 13:53:43
for me MOH is a good addition and could play well in games like the selik one and Aberdeen and teams who try play football against us but when they sit back and try to counter it makes him as usefull as sebo.

now that we have players in the middle like windass halliday holt rossiter i'd like to play those 4 and maybe McKay just behind the main striker wether that be garner or waggy. have rossiter and halliday shoring things up with windass and forrester playing l/ m and r/ m.

10 Oct 2016 14:10:36
Looking some of the polls websites are doing regarding Joey Barton (not sure if this one has done one) but the majority are vote get rid now my answer is why get rid what has he done that's so bad he's had bad games so has half the team including Wallace he got upset because we lost to Celtic good because I for one am sick of the whole we'll learn from this to me he has been made a scapegoat and the manager and board are looking to blame someone with a bad history and it's sticking and fans are jumping one board.

10 Oct 2016 15:21:46
What are the chances of somebody ever suceeding for a team where the board definitely want him gone but can't afford to pay him off, the manager presumably wants him out and a big majority of fans want him out.

10 Oct 2016 15:51:41
Now I'm not saying I want him gone but to ask "what has he done wrong? " is really a bit naive.

He is guilty of bullying a young player - Nothing reaaly bad here but he's got previous for this and it needs nipped in the bud.

He's disrupted squad harmony.

He's broken gambling rules.

And for me most importantly! He has disrespected the boss.
Arguing with your teammates isn't great but it happens. Both he and Halliday were guilty of this but when the boss says shut it you do it. Halliday did but motormouth showed his immaturity and arrogance. At that point he not only disrespected Warbs, but also the badge and the club!

Now for my opinion - Barton can close the door on this issue with 2 steps:
1) Confirm he has made a mistake in the heat of the moment and apologise giving Warburton his rightful place.
2) Show more drive and determination to be an asset to the club. Work his socks off on the pitch and aid those players that could do with his experience instead of undermining them. (thats not to say he shouldn't call out poor performances but needs to hold his hands up and admit he was also poor) .

10 Oct 2016 18:09:16
I don't recall Barry Ferguson getting hounded when he argued with Le Guen.

Same applies when Ambrose bullied Negri, no one called for his head.

Also don't recall an uproar when Black and Simonsen got caught gambling.

Now I totally get that you may not like Barton but jus be honest and don't hide behind lame excuses.

10 Oct 2016 18:20:20
As I have said in earlier posts - did any of these players tell the manager to f*** off - that's the difference. - That's why Barton must go - he overstepped the biggest line of them all - get rid -.

10 Oct 2016 18:28:44
Bluegenius out of interest who is the young player he has bullied?

10 Oct 2016 18:46:53
Human beings find it really hard to be impartial, if Barton had hit the ground running and he was suspended there would be an uproar. If it was any player other than Barton people would find a more of a middle ground. Since the guy isn't shy to voice what he thinks or feel (as we all are here) he displays 'arrogance' (Under estimating scottish football and over estimating his skills are different things btw) by telling everyone he is better when his career shows he is. You know what **** that Barton guy we were all ecstatic/ couldn't believe we'd lured to the club.

He now if he gets the boot he wouldn't have had a realistic chance to prove himself. Look at Kranjcar if we based his performances back when Barton was suspended, he would have been a flop too and now look how he is coming on. None of us realistically have enough information to make a solid judgement and we really should wait until more information comes out.

10 Oct 2016 19:24:55
Firstly nobody has accused Barton of bullying anyone except bluegenius. There has been no confirmation that he did anything except have an arguement in training. Nobody official has said he told anyone to f off. Also nobody has said that the manager or the board want rid of him and he hasn't been found guilty of gambling. don't base your opinions on paper talk. Remember who many of these journalists and sources are and what their true agenda is.

10 Oct 2016 21:41:32
Huey - I'm not somebody that bases my opinions on paper talk but the fact that within days of the suspension all Rangers' go to men like DJ and Derek Ferguson came out and said they thought he had played his last game for the club told me that this is exactly what Rangers PR wanted.

That's the way these things work at Rangers and all other big clubs and while Joey Barton is nowhere as clever as he would like to think he is, he certainly knows the club want him gone.

10 Oct 2016 18:05:38
Bluegenius, if you want to take that attitude then take it with the manager also.

The managers job is to manage the players- part of that is man management and through that he is responsible for the performance and behaviour of the players.

Could very easily say the manager must go because he has failed to control his players, failed to manage conflict (like every manager in every field of operation must), failed to get the best out of employees and worst of all allowed confidential employee information to be leaked to media.

I guarantee you a manager of a supermarket or any other job would lose his job under the above circumstances.

Worse than all that - due to Way this has been handed, Barton is not only due the rest of his contract but can easily take club to a tribunal for unfair dismissal or constructive dismissal- look at acas guidelines if you doubt this (because your wrong) .

To be Crystal I'm not calling for MW to be sacked- just pointing out that many of anti Barton comments are using shaky logic.

11 Oct 2016 02:21:27
FFS just get him back training with the development squad if that's what it takes then sell in Jan. Its ridiculous!

11 Oct 2016 09:06:08
Boss Hogg if I just don't like Barton I would say so. I'm not a man that minces his words. I'm actually indifferent toward him as a person.
As for the examples you have given you have no idea of my opinion so best you pipe down.

Garry, This whole furore came from an incident where Barton was sticking it to Josh Jeffries, one of the academy lads.

Dishco, I'm not sure what ACAS rules your on about but suspending an employee pending an investigation into actions like Bartons are exactly what any Supermarket would do.
The steps he has taken are the exact controls you have mentioned.
The expected performance of a manager would be decided by a senior manager over an extended period of time not by some external numpty on a website.
As for allowing confidential info to be leaked. This would hardly happen when wee Davie's comedown gets the better of him on a Saturday shift in Farmfoods.
And lastly saying I'm wrong by ACAS guidelines? How am I wrong? I have only stated what is wrong in Barton's actions. I have not suggested he should be sacked.
P. S if a NEW employee showed blatant disregard for his seniors, colleagues and customers whilst breaking other rules any supermarket could let them go without concern as he has been employed for less than 6 months.

11 Oct 2016 14:06:13
to bring up barry ferguson under paul le guen is just ridiculous one of the worst managers to ever be at the the at the time and barry was a brilliant player for us and commanded our whole team the way a captain should and always stuck up for his team mates and had years of service to the club won quite a few titles.

now barton I agree should be given a chance but if he isn't better in training and in my opinion he isn't better than what we have he shouldn't get a game but if ha can improve his play then yes if it betters my team bring him back he isn't the first to make a mistake .
first thing first though he must come out an say sorry to the boss and fans for bringing bad attention to the club.

11 Oct 2016 16:18:11
Andy1872,

I think that's the most likely scenario. We can't afford to pay him off and and I can't see there being enough grounds to dismiss him. Think he will either train or be put on gardening leave then the club will be hoping to offload him in January.

10 Oct 2016 12:38:29
Big game on Friday night at Inverness. They are on a good run and it is a difficult place to go at the best of times. Win well there and we will be set up nicely for the Cup match with Septic. Lose and I fear the morale of the team will drop further. I don't know about fitness and availability but Halliday, Holt and Windass must play, but who is going to score the goals? Miller, Waghorn, Dodoo, Garner?

10 Oct 2016 12:59:57
Waghorn wouldn't get in team if it was up to me . Looks unfit and off the pace doesn't look anything like player he was. maybe he's struggling with step up to spl but has played at better level than that before coming to us. He's got a bit of proving to do before he should be offered a new contract imo.

10 Oct 2016 13:44:55
Gotta give lad Dodoo a run of games. Garner too. Both can do a job for us. Whether or not MW is willing to give them this chance remains to be seen.

10 Oct 2016 14:06:43
I tend to agree with MontyPieFan, i would play do dodoo, garner and mckay as my front 3 against ict on friday night, it can be a very flexible front 3 as we can have dodoo and garner changing positions regularly, i would also like to see warbs giving young mckay more of a free, roving role and playing as a proper no.10 at times in the hole behind our central striker, thoughts bears?

10 Oct 2016 14:19:12
My rangers team for the inverness caley thistle game on friday night would be- foderingham
tavernier, senderos, wilson, Wallace,
halliday
holt, kranjcar
dodoo, garner, mckay.

10 Oct 2016 14:33:32
Warbs15 that teams spot on also agree point bout wee mackay getting more of a free role.

10 Oct 2016 14:59:41
mckay garner ohalloran front 3.

10 Oct 2016 15:43:32
Although not McKay's greatest fan, I think he plays better when waghorn is not in the team and he has free reign to come inside and even switch wings.

10 Oct 2016 16:36:21
He will play waghorn and McKay every game when fit which only leaves 1 position up for grabs some players are guaranteed to start regardless of form.

10 Oct 2016 18:53:18
Warbs15 I like the sound of your team select I would just like to see Windass at some point in the game also Rossiter so if Warbs is going to change things at half time I would put these two on for Nico and Halliday But would really like to see him adjust formation for certain games imo I think we should play 3 CB's against celtic with wing backs taking turns to attack down flanks.

10 Oct 2016 20:10:17
Thats not a bad shout for the celtic semi final andy1872,we at the very least have to match up in midfield against them as our 3 mids in the league game against them were obviously outnumbered and totally over run. Some of our fans criticise tav far too much on here and imo are way too hard on him. I rate tav very highly and has been a lot better defensively this season! He's a terrific athlete and footballer with a good final ball, he's also a big threat to the opposition at set pieces, i'm most certainly a fan of tav who would always be in my team!

11 Oct 2016 00:03:18
Supercoop11 do you think Warbs will stick with his 4-3-3 against the tic? Actually chuckle to myself and shake my head thinkin he will :) I bet he does the maniac got to admire it to a certain extent. Really like Warbs and he definetly needs time and I think we all know that finishing 2nd this season would suffice yeah getting into the Europe groups is key as none of the other lot can do it embarrassing our lge not once did the sheep etc qualify for the groups did they?

11 Oct 2016 08:51:59
Team for IC.
Fods
Tav. Sendaros. Wilson. Wallace.
Rossiter.
Windass/ Nico. Holt/ Halliday.
Dodoo. Mckay/ O'hall.
Garner.
Think this is an attacking team with pace also think Halliday should be playing further forward as DM isn't his natural position, think playing on the left of midfeild is ideal. Dodoo deserves a chance why bring a talent like that to Ibrox and stick with Wags who just ain't producing it must be really frustrating. Think he needs to make changes at half time if someone like McKay isn't in the game giv O'halloran a better chance to have an impact. Basically keep this team give them a decent run with the / = Subs Rotation if needed.
