39 year old gers man all my days, been to many many games and tbh I'm with CG, this whole league reconstruction is a joke, what is the purpose, do they think that this will kill us off for good, it really gets you thinking. This will only make gers fans more hostile to the rest.
Celtic are having a great run in Europe and I'm glad for them, though do they think they will do this next year?

what happens then? will they go to games knowing they win the league no mater what?

Believable16 Unbelievable18

Will your fans still go to the games knowing it doesnt matter whether you win the league or not youll still be no further forward or better off than the team that finishes last

Agree12 Disagree9

Well act like a 39 year old, it's a game of football ffs, not world war 3.
Tam

Agree19 Disagree11

Not being cruel here but they can't fill there stadium just now never mind when the inevitable happens, p.s are you really glad for them . im not

Agree1 Disagree10

@1 the answer to your question is yes but this wasnt a dig at you and as you must know there are swathes of your fans staying away from certain home games even season ticket holders are picking their games, there's a game on at Ibrox today why not come on over and have a great day out.

Agree7 Disagree7

@ 1 exactly and that is the
whole point how can a team
that wins a championship be
no better off than the team that
finishes last
Billy H

Agree4 Disagree5

@5 is the prize money not better for winning the league?
Also, are you proposing that if the team who plays at Ibrox win the division they should be promoted to a new second division?
Al

Agree4 Disagree1

@ 4 thanks for the offer but after all the excitement of champions league am enjoying the winter break putting my feet up before it all starts off again against juventus its a pity thou i usually enjoy taken in a game from the lower divisions when i get a chance but the excitement and emotion of the champions league is enough for anyone but i will pop over next year when you play stranrear and i agree with you some of those wee 3rd division games can be a great wee day out

Agree1 Disagree0

11 Jan 2013 18:59:58
I can understand why CG and Ally are annoyed about this decision being made halfway through a season and how that is not very sporting. However to sugest that because we win the 3rd division that we should be in the second tier league next season would be extremely unsportong to the 9 teams above us that we would leapfrog.

Believable26 Unbelievable9

The football authorities in Scotland are breaking their own rules. No wonder the two of them are raging. Why not leave it till the following season..To much of a rush to change. Fans have not been asked. Sporting integrity, sick to death of hearing that phrase.

Agree12 Disagree15

Are you having a Laff rushing the restructuring of the system this should be done at the start of season 2014/15 instead of rushing thru for next season and the reason for rushing it cause rangers would effectively be in first div1(spl2) which would mean the bottom league would be absolutely sh#t just like the idea of this 12-12-18 system

Agree8 Disagree7

Maybe its just me but if we win the league this year would we not be in the third tier of Scottish football anyway so basically it would be the same

Agree25 Disagree5

Too much hypocrisy from all sides concerning 'sporting integrity'. Not much integrity has been shown by too many, including those at and supporting Rangers in the last wee while (did they just expect everyone to bow down and let them waltz back in), yet too many use it as some sort of trump card or to accuse others of hypocrisy. Time for everyone to give it a rest.

Agree13 Disagree11

How sporting is it to tell a team that if you win promotion your not getting promoted?

Blueice

Agree12 Disagree12

5} there is a league above you right now . and next season you will play against 8 of them . how is that not a step up . yes you will play the same 9 as this season in the bottom tier but 8 from the present 3rd tier . i don't hear any of that 8 complaining abou getting relegated .. shammy

Agree4 Disagree1

Seriously, what is the big deal here?? You wouldn't be promoted to division one for winning division three!
You are still in the same position you were in at the beginning of this season, 3 seasons away from the premier league! And with restructuring of the leagues you will be back in the top division in the same time frame (2 seasons at beginning of the next season)!
So what is the problem?
The complaining, wingeing, the ranting about everything from that person green and this self perceived feeling of persecution coming from the fans is just getting more and more childish every day! Grown men and woman carrying on like pathetic wee children is bordering on the rediculous now! No wonder your new club and its supporters are being laughed at and have the piss ripped out of yous at every opportunity by the mob from the east end for the drivel that is being spouted on here!
You really have to have a long hard look at yourselves! Because the word pathetic certainly springs to mind when i read some of the rediculous things that come up on this forum!
The "Oh woe is me" attitude is wearing very very thin now!

Agree6 Disagree1

You say your getting slapped in the face but at the same time your quite happy to pass it on and slap someone else in the face ... if green and ally got their way and it was started next year what difference would it be ?? it would still mean the winners don't get promoted ally said the rest of the season was meaningless so would it not be a case of the whole of next season would be meaningless ?? but the rangers attitude is who cares about anyone else its time you stopped the pathetic winging and just except that's the way the penny fell and get on with it if they brought in a rule that the winners of the 3rd would go straight to the spl you would just winger about that aswell you would give victor meldrew a sore head

Agree1 Disagree0

For all of Greens blustering, and stupid comments, he may have hit on a real potential to force UEFA into bringing in
cross border leagues.

There is a cross border woman's league, sanctioned by UEFA
and you cannot have one rule for one sex and not the
other. This can be seen with European Courts ruling about
car insurance. This may be another Bosmans moment
as let's be honest the European courts will love this.

Believable10 Unbelievable23

Other factors have to be considered like the viability of women's leagues in those countries, not to mention the fact that it's a different entity and nothing like Bosman.

Agree12 Disagree9

Does it matter whether they bring it in or not epl or any english league don't want yous or us for that matter all this rubbish about court and stuff you could spend millions through courts but even if you win the case epl will still say your not getting in end of

Agree13 Disagree7

11 Jan 2013 21:13:07
@1 what the OP was saying is that if it went to European courts and they ruled in favour of cross border leagues because of the sex discrimination aspect then it would be a landmark ruling in football just as the Bosman ruling was.

Agree7 Disagree7

The duch/belgian womans league issue was brought up a while ago don't give green the credit of comming up with this,

We keep hearing the phrase, "for the good of the game"
I don't think there is one club that really has " the good
of the game " at heart. They as they should look after
themselves, if it suits them they agree if not they
disagree. That's the truth.

So here goes - Let's do something for the good of the
game in Scotland. If the consensus is that a 12-12-18
Is right or 14-14-14 or whatever, let's do it properly.
We should have a true system where the best are in
the top div, the next best in tier two, etc. , as Doncaster
said it should be on "sporting merit". So for the next
two seasons we should have a 42 team league, play half
next season and half the following season, home and
away. Then after two years we have an absolute clear
Picture of who should be where.

The benefits are that the small teams get games against
the bigger teams, so Peterhead for example would have
maybe 10 full houses instead of the two against Rangers.
All lower teams would benefit. Money would truely be
shared around. As for European places we all know
Celtic will win the SPL as they have no competition, so
they are Scottish entrants to CL. Whoever finishes second
each year qualifies for CL, next Europa league.

I have no doubt that I will get the usual dross that my
team will have a year less to the top flight etc, but if
anyone truely believes "for the good of the game" then
Everybody knows that the sooner Rangers are there
then it is better for the game.

You may think that senility has finally set in here, I know
it sounds a bit crazy, but why, it really does allow true
"sporting merit".

Believable14 Unbelievable13

The only thing i agree with in your rant is that everyone will be where they should be and rangers are exactly where they should be

Agree12 Disagree7

You really were doing well till you came up with a 42 team league . Only one team benefits from this and we'll you know it . I'm out ..........DH

Agree7 Disagree2

What part of sporting integrity involves teams from the bottom tier leapfrogging everyone else straight to the top ?? {The Ed039's Note - what part of sporting integrity involves a team to win a division but play the same teams the following season when promotion would have afforded different outcome)

Agree9 Disagree3

2) op here, I disagree completely that only one team benefits, that is not true at all. Every team outside SPL would benefit. They would get full houses every time they play a top team. If Annan get 400 normally and then get 4000 against Rangers, they would get 4000 against Celtic, Hearts, Hibs, Dundee united, in fact pretty much every current SPL club. This applies to every team outside SPL.

Now if you dismiss this because Rangers would get to the top one year earlier, then that's pretty sad and you don't have the good if the game at heart.

We have heard if "sporting integrity" and the new one "sporting merit". What element of "sporting integrity" is there in changing the rules in mid season?
"Sporting merit", are you trying to tell me that some mid table second div team that has been there for ten years, with no ambition to do anything else have more sporting merit than the most successful club in the world, has more sporting merit in the 500 people that watch them or a club that took 200,000 people to Manchester? Come on, take off the green specs, if your only gripe is because you want to win three titles uncontested rather than two, then where is your integrity.

Agree7 Disagree6

1) first of all this post is anything but a rant and secondly I never said Rangers are not where they should be, the Rangers fans wanted div three, so what's your point caller?

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed your still stepping up a league the only difference is all the other teams will step up beside yous you'll still be playing eight of the 2nd division teams you would have been playing against only in a bigger league do you here any of the eight 2nd division teams winging that they are getting demoted ?? no and they have more reason to moan than yous yous are just being totally selfish what happened to the " our new found friends " ?? friends for a year when it suits yous then sh*t on them first chance you get ... sporting integrity ?? you don't even know the meaning of the word {The Ed039's Note - maybe as the beacon of sporting integrity you can enlighten me)

Agree8 Disagree0

@5: looks like they'll have division 3 next year too, although it'll be third rather than fourth tier, so why the complaints?

Agree7 Disagree1

6) & 7) firstly number 6, how is it right to change the rules in mid season? A simple question. Forget Rangers, if you can, what about all the others in all divisions that will be playing for promotion, this year means nothing. I don't care who you support it's not right. Imagine if the CL decided after the final 16 that those that finished second in the group stages no longer qualify its only the top teams. If you start a competition with rules in place and change them in mid stream, just give me one reason how that is fair.

7) see above, that's the complaint. Perhaps you could let me know what is the rush for this? It even says in the SPL articles of association that three years has to be given to disband. Is it not fairer to say at the start of the season that the changes happen the following season then everybody knows the rules. Let's be brutally honest you are all for this because it keeps Rangers out for another year. Your only interest is to gain three tainted titles instead of two. Now that is the absolute truth!

Agree7 Disagree5

6) really this is so stupid. Do you for one moment think that those 2nd div teams want this, of course not but they are being encouraged to accept for money. They will earn more money from the handouts than if promoted. Stop this sporting integrity rubbish, there is not one club that won't do what earns them more money. For you to suggest that their attitude is for the good of the game is farcical. They are only interested in money and SPL are offering that money to get their way. If you don't believe that then why did SFL suggest another way, they didn't want 12-12-18 but guess what, they got a pay off. Sporting integrity it ain't.

Agree3 Disagree2

OP if The Rangers were in the SPL right now you wouldn't be bothering your arse about teams from Div 1, 2, and 3......DH

Agree9 Disagree1

@ 8 explain why the rules are being changed half way through the season ?? any changes made won't start to next season so nothing changes this season and next year youll still get to the 3rd tear only so will the rest of the teams if no one wants it then why are they voting for it ??oh right they where bribed... rubbish why would 3rd and 4th division clubs care less how many teams are in the spl even green said he gets why its a good deal for the sfl clubs they get more money and a bigger league and most of them are their for the long haul and why does the set up stop you from getting back in three year instead of two ?? are you suggesting a 22 team spl because that's the only way you could get their in two nothing in this set up changes the time rangers get back to top even two leagues of 20 starting next year you would still fall in the bottom because only 8 1st division clubs would move up @ 6 i never said its for the best but everyone is trying to agree a deal that suits everyone apart from the rangers whos only interested in their selfs and scamming a fast root back to the top the problem for rangers and their fans is they though this whole re structure was a plot to get you back to the top for the money now youv got to face reality no one needs or misses you

Agree4 Disagree0

10) you are probably right, I wouldn't be bothered but we are in div three, so it concerns me. If you are honest you would not be bothered about the whole thing except forthe fact that it keeps your rivals in the lowest div.

Agree2 Disagree3

@8, 12: please stop assuming that anyone who says something you disagree with on this is a Celtic fan. It makes you look silly.

Agree3 Disagree1

@13. That will be because regulars know DH is a Celtic fan who has never hidden the fact and frequently posts on both sites. That is one of the benefits of people leaving names.

Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

Ffs do you persons not understand the fact that it doesn't add any time on to your return to the Top tier? The fact you are just complaining for the sake of complaining is rather pathetic!
I would have thought that your supposed itinerary of making new friends would have you all over the moon thinking of the financial windfall coming their way! But no, not to be!! It's just another conspiracy to keep the new rangers out of the top flight! Seriously, the only reason you are up in arms is because the new puppet master has said so! It's really getting mundane listening to his rantings and then the follow up paranoid drivel coming from his beloved knuckle dragging foot soldiers is bordering on pathetic!

there should have been a british league, or very least cup years ago. at the expense of the league cup. it seems harsh as part of the uk, and paying sky subscriptions etc. that we feed off tit bits of the billions of sky money, with the english and welsh teams getting huge amounts. if rangers can get away into another league. and whether we take celtic with us or not. it.l be one of the best days of my life

Believable7 Unbelievable15

We did in 1980, it was called the Anglo Cup

Listen both teams been trying for yrs to get out of Scottish football, not going to happen and as for taking celtic with you make me laugh

clear up a arguement do rangers recieve payment.evry time there game is on tv.there is a couple of pints riding on it.BIG BLUE.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

I believe not, and if they do it is a paltry amount.

Agree3 Disagree0

Not as such. Rangers tv money no goes into big pot, and all sfl teams recieve a fair share. So rangers get that share - but not for each game actually played.

hope this answers the conundrum.

Greenes had his moments being comical, but after todays tripe spouted on he needs locked up in asylum, he's going too get swansea and cardiff kicked out premiership if gers not allowed in, time someone stopped him from any interviews, making a laughing stock of him and the club everytime he speaks now

Believable22 Unbelievable13

Why do you think they let him on talksh**e? That station is no friend of scotland

Agree6 Disagree4

He is a muppet only Swansea are in the epl although Cardiff are close and he's forgot about Wrexham.

Charles Green making enemies in Wales who won't forget what he said.

Especially if they ever get a vote on Rangers joining any English League.

A quote from Wales Online:

Scottish giants Rangers have insisted Swansea City and Cardiff City should be thrown out of the English system if the Ibrox club are refused the chance to enter into cross-border competition.

Rangers chief executive Charles Green has said that the South Wales pair should be kicked out if his hopes of seeing the Glasgow outfit are denied, describing the situation where Welsh clubs are allowed to play in the Football League and Premier League and Scottish clubs are not as "rubbish".

So that's Cardiff, Swansea and most of Wales taking Rangers off the Christmas card list then. Why does nobody tell the man to shut up? At this rate North Korean or Iranian leagues will be his only options.

Foxy

Believable20 Unbelievable7

Cant see these clubs every selling or buying rangers players or loans,

add aston villa and green burning bridges everywhere,,, why this will undermine rangers in future.. does he not care.

Agree12 Disagree1

The mans statement about welsh clubs is correct surely uefa know this

Agree3 Disagree11

Here we go again with this, the English league invited Welsh Clubs into the English league around the 1920"s, and before anyone starts about Monaco playing in the french league its because Monaco is a Principality, and the MLS letting Canadian teams playing in the MLS is due to the MLS being semi pro and also ran by Concacaf.

Agree6 Disagree0

@2: didn't you know that UEFA are fine with the Welsh clubs playing in England.

Agree9 Disagree1

@4) OMFG are we on this again? Have a day off will you trigger!

Uefa had there say a long time ago about this when they closed the loop thus stopping anymore of the cross border memberships. The Rangers will NEVER play in England, nor will Celtic for that matter. Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham will never be asked to leave English football either. Swallow it, memorise it, let it sink in ffs.

Agree5 Disagree1

@5: I wasn't claiming in #4 that they would be OK with Scottish clubs too but was responding to #2 to say that there wasn't a problem with the Welsh teams. I know the loophole is closed.

Agree1 Disagree0

If a welsh team qualifies for europe in england then they arent eligible to play in europe

Agree1 Disagree3

11 Jan 2013 15:55:41
I recon If Rangers do leave Scottish football, and power league 2 would be the place to start, hopefully promoting to the BPL in 3 seasons

Believable4 Unbelievable18

11 Jan 2013 15:31:21
As the SPL stands just now after 22 games St Mirren are 3rd bottom but only 9 points off 2nd place and 7 away from a European spot. Yet under the new rules instead of playing the rest of the season fighting for a euro place they will instead be thrust straight into a relegation battle. Does anyone else think that this is a total joke? Why on earth would these clubs vote for this?

Believable15 Unbelievable4

Agree with you mate and the other thing is the exact same fight for the euro spots as proposed is happening right now as you said, where are all the crowds that the new system will bring in, they're not here this now? where are all the new meaningful games? - the only ones i see are for the top 4 in the new championship split.
After the current spl split teams fight to survive or europe spot and sfl have play offs, so what's new?
piece of p!sh
the only thing i can see that would help would be to reset the points in the premier sub league after the split.
8 clubs home and away, league title and euro spots up for grabs, game on.

Agree2 Disagree1

Cos its more exciting for thier fans and they play games with meaning, they not gonna win championship, and unlikely unless miracle to win into europe.

Meanwhile top of spl have better games against the cream of the spl - not cannon fodder like these.

Agree1 Disagree3

Simple answer get the 7 point and you don't need to worry if not tuff

Agree2 Disagree1

11 Jan 2013 15:30:45
I think green has a point. For years i have dreamed of old firm in england and now rangers are in 3rd division now it makes sense to go to englands bottom and work way up. Although fifa/uefa are against cross border leagues, they are a bunch of crooked hypocrites like the spl/sfa and with financial turmoil in la liga along with catalonia pushing for independence. It won't be long till heavyweights spain are crying out to let portugals big 3 into la liga which will open a massive tin of worms when it comes to cross border leagues and european style leagues.

Believable7 Unbelievable14

Rangers may have fan base - but don't have a team of the pitch to match any foreign league - so its a pipe dream.

And FIFA/UEFA won't allow a newco to dodge financial dues.... so no win for gers in this scenario.

Will be 4 years until full member of sfa and then can move on.

Whyte scuppered any euro dream.

Agree10 Disagree2

What are you talking about op ? if the english league system needs new teams, and it doesnt, they will bring in english teams. as for spain and portugal ????

Agree7 Disagree2

Why is it that anybody says or does anything against Rangers are crooks?
I am sure Green is turning most football minded poeple against us with his stupid comments

Agree8 Disagree1

Totally agree with @3 plenty of posts have been shot down by ignorant people .so what if 12 12 18 don't thrill everyone its got to be better than what's on offer just now, and have we got any better ideas that don't fast track us back to the top, as i for one want to earn our place back at the top, and at least lets be honest we were told at the start of the season if an agreement on a new league construction could be met it would commence next season

Agree5 Disagree3

@4 I don't remember being told that the restructure of the system would start next season most thing take time to plan and put in position so the sfl come up with 16-10-16(best idea) then sphell come up with 12-12-18(liewells idea)one meeting later liewells idea is bein pushed thru for next season just hope the rest of the sfl teams stick together and vote against it the only good that came out the meeting was the muppets agreed that there should be only 1 governing body

Agree1 Disagree2

4) good and honest post and what you have said about reconstruction everyone was willing to go along with at least give it a go it's a start surely things can only get better

Agree2 Disagree0

@4: where's your evidence that it was Lawwell's idea? Oh, what's that? Because he's Celtic's chief exec, everything wrong with the game is his fault in your eyes? Grow up.

And what's with the Liewell? What's he lied about. What did Murray, Whyte, Green lie about to Rangers fans? Who swallowed loads of it? That's right - many Rangers fans. So who should you really be accusing of being good at telling lies?

Agree5 Disagree0

@5. I seem to remember league reconstruction being discussed as early as the end of last season to be in place for the start of the current season in an attempt to help any new team playing at Ibrox. Don't remember as much negativity then.
Al

Agree3 Disagree0

Al. True (apart from the new team playing at Ibrox, lol), but I also remember fans being consulted on the type of league set up they would like to see put in place and most saying two leagues of sixteen and one of ten or three fourteens. That would have equated to three leagues either way with Rangers in the second one if they win the league this year and I can't remember as much negativity about that proposal either. How many fans do you think mentioned 12-12-18 turning into 8-8-8-18 two thirds of the way through the season as the way forward at the time? Exactly. Typically the opinion of the paying public have been ignored once again. It isn't just Rangers fans that have a problem with the proposed set up either, I don't know a single person who is in favour of it, but if it does get the go ahead let's hope it works here (it hasn't anywhere else) as our game is in the mire enough already.

Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

11 Jan 2013 12:43:09
He's at it again is see G. The SFL clubs will meet on 31-01-13 to discuss the new set up. He can do all his ranting then maybe he might win over some of the lower teams I don't know, though he will not have a vote he will be allowed to express Rangers opinion in the proper way, which is how it should be done. Does he think all the fans who have backed him so far would travel anywhere at great cost to appease his cause ( don't think so ). He should ask the fans first. If things change or stay as they are whatever the case it will still take us the same time to get back where we belong and by then we will have a vote and accounts for Europe. If he is thinking of moving out of Scotland would he be allowed to use Ibrox Stadium if and how he chooses, another negative. Methinks he should tread carefully and stop alienating us to the rest of football The English have already stated they don't want us, at least for the moment, he already tried to buy a club there without success . What is he trying to prove or achieve ?
Bobby

Believable19 Unbelievable12

Thinking about taking UEFA/FIFA to court over sexual descrimination? Surely that comment was taken out of context by the journalist and printed by the MSM. ffs what next!

Agree5 Disagree6

Thanfully we live in a country that has democracy and free speech. You might not agree with it but it is there. That is unless you are the higer archy of Scottih football. They allow free speech frpm fans when it suits then and repress our voice when we shout about reconsrtruction. Allow free speechto the fans please.

Agree4 Disagree8

He is simply annoyed and has every right to be so its called an opinion just like yours.
There was no pouring of grief years ago by the fans when Rangers looked at possible ways of moving to England and lets not kid ourself we would if we could as would Celtic lets get real.

Agree2 Disagree8

Surely anything that betters the club should be explored. I agree CG comments are mistimed however I firmly believe he puts Rangers best intentions first. I also believe there is a lot of underhand deals being done in the spl for example when did celtic and Peter lawwell become the negotiator in the tv deal as he stated in his press conference and under the proposed league set up who will it benefit? So CG gets my vote to take us forward PB

Agree2 Disagree10

I agree with some points particularly the let's leave position. He should remember the summer when we thought we might not be playing at all. And that is the bottom line, there is nowhere to go!

I recently reached the big 50 and have been a season ticket holder since I was 7. This talk of going to England has been around as long as I can remember and we are no nearer now than we were then. It's not going to happen in my lifetime I am pretty sure of that.

He should be allowed to make his views clear after all we attract a huge percentage of those that watch Scottish football, but this threatening stance does no good, he should explain why he thinks it's a poor idea and what is better. This position of threats and boycotts does and has not helped our position.

Your point about using Ibrox as and when he chooses is however nonsense. If we could move any new league knows where we play, full stop.

I think that the 12-12-18 is stupid as was the top six split, total dross. How can you have a league where teams play different opposition as they do in SPL is crass stupidity and has brought nothing to our game. How can the team that finishes 7th or 8th have more points than the team that finishes 5th or 6th. However the bottom line is that we are too small a country, with too few fans, too little money, and too many teams. It can not be great because only two teams, now one, can win the title. I think Green is not upset at the proposed system, he is upset that this appears to being forced through too quickly and I think the feeling from the Rangers fans, is that there must be a reason and no doubt money is behind it. The Rangers fans are suspicious of anything that SPL do.
I agree there is no reason why this should not be brought in the following season, then everybody knows what they are playing the season for. To change in mid term is ridiculous, fans have bought tickets, they deserve to see the season out with the same rules and prizes that were on offer at the start of the season.

Agree6 Disagree7

Fact 1 all sfl clubs will make more cash fact 2 theirs nothing better for the 18 team that make up the 3rd next year than having rangers in their league for financial benefits fact 3 theirs nothing better for the 2nd division teams to know rangers will be in their league the following year do you think the sfl clubs will give a toss about what's best for rangers

Agree4 Disagree1

Rangers and celtic have been looking for an out from Scottish football for years. There's never been any secret over this. The problem is cg's timing and manner. He needs to be a bit more professional and behave less like a child throwing toys from his pram.

Agree5 Disagree1

This is his latest nonsense,,
And the Ibrox chief told : "As the structures stand now, there are not many options. People say you can't go into England because you are not allowed cross-borders (leagues). Well there is now a cross-border (league). You have a UEFA-sanctioned professional women's league in Belgium and Holland, so we have a precedent there."

He added: "If there was an opportunity to join a cross-border league and that was challenged by UEFA, I would go to Strasbourg and challenge the sexual equality."

Green also claimed that Rangers could apply to join the English Conference set-up before attempting to rise up the leagues, and he insisted he would do so with the blessing of the club's supporters.

"I could join the Conference and I would be in a higher league than I'm in. It doesn't matter to me (which league Rangers are in), " he added. "I can tell you this, if the only option is to go into England and start at the lowest level, I believe Rangers fans would support that.

"Nobody can question Rangers fans once they see the attendances. I got figures through yesterday and it's only Man United, Arsenal and Newcastle (that have) higher average attendances than Rangers."

Green also insisted that if Rangers were denied entry south of the border, Premiership side Swansea and npower Championship side Cardiff should then be booted out of England.

Oh my god lets just have no "mates" left in European Football Charles... slag off the other Scottish divisions by stating the conference far better than them,, the Welsh teams in English League structures,,, UEFA by calling them sexist.... who does he think will want to back us after all his gibberish?? betting no one in conference league wishes us to join their set up? or any other English League... get a grip man before the "big boys" start to waken up and alienate us form Europe altogether by banning us, which would be very easy for them to do. Charles just please "shut up" and leave the media etc to the people you pay to do the job ie Jim Traynor who thankfully is keeping his head down until its safe to come out .

"when did celtic and Peter lawwell become the negotiator in the tv deal as he stated in his press conference"

When he was in charge of the largest, most successful team in the top of scottish football. With death of rangers - he could finally give more away to other teams, something rangers never allowed.

Rangers had stranglehold on spl - with 11-1 veto - which has now gone.

Agree5 Disagree8

The 11-1 vote was for the old firm teams to veto any ideas that didn't suit them now it's a 10-2 vote which I think gives celtic the stranglehold on the sphell with celtic gettin st mirren and the sheep to help now

What do you think of this Rules are Rules !

"85. RESTRICTION ON DISSOLUTION
It shall not be competent to resolve to wind up the League with the purpose or effect of
then re-forming a National Association Football League within three years of the date of
the resolution to wind up which shall exclude any club formerly in membership of the
League or which shall exclude a club formerly in membership of the League from being
promoted to a higher division of such League where it had a legitimate expectation of such
promotion when a member of the League, unless such club shall consent in writing to such
exclusion; and in the event of such a resolution being passed and such circumstances
arising within the said three year period such resolution shall be null and void and treated
as such ab initio."

Believable11 Unbelievable10

Only applies to members.

Not associate members. {The Ed039's Note - So what about the teams involved in the play offs at the end of the season?)

Agree14 Disagree6

Rules are rules, I seem to recall a certain similar situation with Stranraer many years ago. Looks to me like CAS will be busy shortly. Why break rules to illeagily rush this through? Wonder if its really all about our tv rights and not some sponsorship deal for the leagues? The SPL is in its death throws and needs the money from our tv rights. Hold fast Mr Green.

Agree11 Disagree11

Are The Rangers not going from the 4th tier to the 3rd tier, as well as any teams in the play-offs? It's not the traditional sense of promotion but you would be in the top flight in the same time scale with our without reconstruction.

@2 The SPL is not in its death throws and already owns all the TV rights in Scotland, you don't have any, so you can put that one to bed.

All the fans of celtic and other clubs saying rangers should be treated no differnt than other demoted clubs, with no votes etc. what planet are they on. by rights we should be treated different. we are the biggest club in scotland. fund a large slice of scottish football. are the biggest trophy winners in world football. its not rocket science is it. that's why by rites we should be treated different. fact, and plain and simple to understand. any other country, there top team, would always be at the forefront. as soon as we do find another league, away from all the petty jealousys, bitterness, and small minded comments, the better

Agree10 Disagree24

Scottish football rules are constantly bent. They were changed to allow Aberdeen to stay in the league when they were due to be relegated. Yes the members ( not Rangers ) can vote to change them . Unfortunatley this new structure in my opinion is ludicroius .

@5. Drag yourself into the 21st century.

You are definately not anywhere near the biggest club in Scotland you may have the biggest ego you are in the lowest division in Scotland only because officcials of the SFA and SFL allowed it cheating other clubs who should have taken that place. Get over it nobody owes you anything after the way your club behaved and the poeple who they left owing money to. Stop moaning and blaming everybody else you might eventually get back to the top with some respect.
Calum

Agree8 Disagree6

@5;Are you serious? You were not demoted you were in liquidation and had to re-apply to join the league system.By insisting you should be treated differently you are the small minded one. You also did get preferential treatment, a temporary licence and the fact you are in the leagues is proof of that.A ridiculous post.

Agree10 Disagree3

Rangers are the biggest club in scotland and what's the difference between welsh clubs playing in england

Agree6 Disagree7

So the rule does not apply to Associate member---What nonsense read the rule correctly it states members and that means all members no mention of exclusion of associate member.

Agree5 Disagree2

Rangers are not a demoted club, they are a club who were lost their licence and therefore had to apply to join the football league at the lowest rung. Because of this FACT they only have associate membership and therefore are not entitled to vote. Many rangers folk, both staff and fans are complaining about a lack of sporting integrity in the league restructure and yet you ask for the rules be ignored to allow rangers a say in the restructuring. A little consistency please.

Agree6 Disagree2

Hey lance armstrong was biggest winner in cycling and now can only appear for free on Oprah....

Being biggest largest, fails if you also biggest cheats, 29th jan is start of that appeal.

Rangers were biggest team, but now are not even full members of sfa - only associate - for 4 years, and only gain full membership when they can provide accounts that auditors WILL sign off.

Agree5 Disagree0

@6: the rules weren't changed to keep Aberdeen in. Do some research before you post nonsense.

Agree6 Disagree1

You should do your research.the rules were changed to allow Aberdeen play partick thistle in a play off.the quicker we find a way out the better.then we can watch each one of them sink one by one

Agree1 Disagree5

@15: the rules were not changed to allow a play-off with Thistle. The relegation play-off in 2000 (part of the rules already) was avoided because Falkirk's ground was not acceptable for promotion. There was a play-off in 1994 (against Dunfermline) which Aberdeen won.

Thistle were never involved and the rules were never changed to prevent Aberdeen from being relegated - the play-off was in place as part of the league structure at the time.

Agree6 Disagree0

@15: how very bitter of you - you want out to watch others sink. Well here's news for you: you won't be getting out lol

Gents, i feel courts and a lengthly scenario appearing, involving RFC, SPL, SFL and SFA, many things have been done that many parties could see as not in keeping with their legal remit. And indeed it could perhaps be added to by EUFA and their current stance on inter country leagues, remember Bosman and EEC rulings on trading of individual/company restrictions, if scottish football was not in the mire now [and anyone being honest knows it is] it certainly could be unless ALL get a grip now.

Are you meaning when the transfer ban is up? {The Ed039's Note - I think the original post was in reply to a post about who would you like to sign when the transfer ban is up)

If we wait to next season wel get players from aberdeen dundee united when they go bust because its going to happen

Agree3 Disagree8

If that's the case then apologies. Still though, Danny Wilson is on big wages, Barry ferguson for a 3rd time? I think some of our players will be disappointed because this season could prove pointless and they will have been expecting more. Although it's Rangers, I think it will be harder to sign better/bigger players now until we are at the top.

Almost all of the posts do not deal with the crux of of the issue, which is, the state of Scottish football.
The proposal on the table does not help to energise interest, and thus put money in the coffers.
Apart from combining the two league bodies I see no benefits and nothing posted on the site makes me think otherwise. As a Ranger's man, I believe we will use our time to re-build and become stronger. However I would like to see the 3year cash projections of the current spl clubs[ celtic excluded].
Gone are the days of wealthy men using the clubs as a lavish luxury, but now we have financial bodies/indivduals after their pound of flesh on their investments.
Now, let's be honest, would you invest in scottish football, and would the proposals fill you with hope?
Action is needed before it is a lost cause and my fear is, it is too late.
From a Rangers point of view, we might get stronger but Scottish football will not exist, as we know it.
Billy B.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

On the contary - only new 8-8-8 proposal provides any means to remove the old firm domination of scottish championship and thier poor results in europe.

SPL only ever won (unless title stripping gives one to hearts) by Rangers or Celtic - this is why scottish football so boring and loosing fans.

Only fans of these two teams any chance on the title, any real chance in the cups, and only thier games are really exciting each season.

Alll other games are pants, and bigger leagues just mean more pants games, as old firm against more div1 teams.

8-8-8 split only thing to ensure old firm meats a challenge at end of season from best of rest, 4-up/4-down means huge turn-a-round (churn) between leagues - far more refreshing than 1 up/down {The Ed039's Note - Thats got to be the only plan I have heard that is more ridiculous than the one already being pushed through)

Agree5 Disagree8

To 1] My post is pessimistic about the future of our game but as Ed comments your reply is, I hope, a joke. Your thoughts are not progressive, just 'old firm' jealousy.
Billy B.

Agree6 Disagree1

@1 is it not the case that the other teams were just not good enough to live with the old firm?
There was to be an expected increase in fans attending this season due to the competitiveness of the spl for the euro spots.
Take a look at the table from 8th to 2nd there is a difference of 6pts(games in hand, looks good on paper) how many new fans has this attracted? This is probably what the new system will be like, so where are the fans?
This year the spl unofficial average attendance is 9819, last year was 10903 (without RFC included, 13861 with)
This is not about the bragging of attendances, but to point out that in the spl there is a chase on for euro places, this is what the new system will probably look like after the split. We are told more meaningful games, bigger crowds and this is what the fans want.
Lawwell and the rest are spinning a line while there is evidence of what they are predicting happening at present in the spl little change in attendances and product.
SFL div 1 this season 2022, last 2208 with 12pts margin now between 1st and 6th, div 2 this season 707, last 594 with 12pts margin now between 2nd and 7th, div 3 this season 5717, last 475.
The new system will do no good at all.

Agree5 Disagree2

@3 - There was to be an expected increase in fans attending this season due to the competitiveness ...

eh? with loss of rangers fans, and troubles at hearts etc...

Any increase in competitiveness will take year or two to pan out, and still looks like celtic will romp to next 9-in-a-row record....

There were two cup shocks last year, but that's simply the lennon and mccoist are first-time green managers....... and won nothing major (that thiers teams almost gaurenteed to win yearin-yearout).

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't undersand why people have got it in for "meaningless" end of season games re a 16 Team league set up . These under the old league set up were used to showcase and bring through youngsters, in a less pressured environment, for the following season so served a good purpose. Nowdays as well obviously the higher up the SPL etc you are the more prize money the club receives

Agree1 Disagree0

1) you are clearly deluded my friend. It is the same teams, with the same players, no more money, less money in what is SPL clubs as they are giving money to lower clubs. There will be one team in it until we are back and then there will be two. Splitting a league into a different league makes no difference at all.
