Does anyone think we've let one go by letting Liam Kelly leave? Every time I've seen him this season he's been different class. I know people talk highly of young McRorie but surely Kelly would've been a good successor to McGrgeor if he went out on loan in the meantime.

The lad did not want to go out on loan again. He asked to be paid or released.
He says he hopes to return one day on freedom of contract as a better keeper.

I think today's game puts them all too bed. Yes, we beat a 10 man Motherwell but we were ruthless the full game. Once Grezda is up to full match fitness, I believe we could have a genuine goal threat and exciting talent from the wide areas. Tav was immense driving the team on constantly. I thought the balance in the middle was immense with Jack, Arfield and Ejaria all linking up well together.
The young centre half were also rock solid against a physical strike force.
Stop over analysing the team after every game. We are Rangers, most LOYAL fans in the world. Stop acting like the unwashed who after a poor start to the season were turning on Brenda and were wanting Popcorn Teeth back ( the Hivs are 8th )!
Yes there is a long way too go and there will be disappointing results along the way. But we could be on the verge of something special this season.

I thought katic had a nightmare again UJ, his form is concerning. We were anything but solid at the back. We looked much better at the back when mcauley came on. We were clinical and never let up. I was glad grezda got two goals and an assist, I'm sure he will push on👍.

The problem with most of these posters, UJ, is not that they over analyse, but that they don't (or can't) analyse at all, they just whine and moan with predictable knee-jerk reactions to every wrong call or error made without ever seeing the positives in our club's position. I've seen them declaring that Gerrard doesn't know when substitutions are required and that maybe we would have been better off if we'd got McInnes.
I've seen them asking why we didn't go for Billy Davies, or why we don't bring back Ryan Hardie or that maybe Pena will come back and be a star or that Scott Allan could be our saviour. They want youth one week, experience the next. Players are world beaters one week, rubbish the next.
I'm convinced that very few of these 'supporters' couldn't find their way to Ibrox in a limousine driven by John Greig. Against ten men or not, today on the whole was quality and the sort of performance that Gerrard always knew was in us, and it will lift the whole place. However, if there is any sort of blip after the international break, just watch for the moaning morons slaughtering the team again, which is their normal fall-back position.

For me we need 3 players. A solid right back and move tav into an attacking midfield position. A no nonsense left back and a hard attacking central midfielder. I think our playing style would defy anything that the SPL could throw at us with those changes. Grezda is starting to be the player SG thought he would be. Nearly there guys let's go for it now.

the problem with Katic is he is a young man who has had his confidence blown to pieces by the management. Dropping for Worral when he hadnt put a foot wrong really, has really affected him. Them hauling him off at hamilton and yesterday is only going to make it worse
i understand the reason behind dropping him for Worall as young players can't be asked to be cconsistant over a long period but it has clearly shook him and i think it will be a while before we see the Katic of early season.

To be fair Katic was carrying an injury earlier in the season. As some posters have said, he is young and will learn. I've seen enough of him to know that he has what it takes. I'm looking for big things from him over the next few montbs.

IMO if people realise we are a work in progress and when it does click ( albeit against 10 men ) like yesterday then the future looks bright.

I thought he looked good mate. Solid and composed, but and there is a but, the game was already won and Motherwell we’re sitting almost all in their own box. He wasn’t really put under any sort of pressure at all. Would definitely like to see more of him based on first appearances. Perhaps he and Goldson could be the solid 2 we need at the moment.

Great result and performance but I don’t understand how anyone can judge McCauley based on that.
They offered absolutely nothing whatsoever in the second half and he was therefore under no pressure at any time. He may be great but let’s see how he gets on against an attack or two.

He really had nothing to defend, nobody running at him making him turn, no real double banking to assist Tavernier, never under pressure at set pieces. Difficult to judge, although he looked composed enough, much in the same way Clint Hill did at first. Sooner or later he'll face a real test and that's when we might see the real MacAuley.

As everyone has said, he was under little pressure yesterday but I liked his performance. He was talking everyone through the game and showing leadership in a young team on the pitch. Exactly what we are paying him for. He looks physically in great shape and a real specimen as well, if his legs are still there then I see no reason why he can’t become one of central defensive partners, we really have to find our top two though and kick on and start getting some clean sheets in December. That is going to be s big month!

Obviously coming from the same country, I would love Davis at Rangers, just like McCauley and Lafferty, what’s your opinion? Would you like him at Rangers or a younger version ( if they can find one )? As Imback said on this site, players like Davis are hard to get.

I posted on here some time ago that a former Southampton director said Davis has had several run-ins with his manager since the summer, he knows he cannot spend much more time in the reserves and that the club would not be hard to deal with if Rangers came calling.
He said that Davis told him he was a professional and would always give of his best, but Rangers were in his heart. If Stevie G wanted this guy, he'd be here in a heartbeat. He's still got miles in the legs and would be a great acquisition, but who knows, maybe the gaffer has hotter irons in the fire.

I have to say Gareth McAuley done well when he came in even though Motherwell didn’t offer much in 2nd half he was a calming presence in the back line which we probably need at the minute, I’d like to see him Goldson together are could Gerrard try the 3cbs again with mcauley included.

McAuley has loads of experience in the EPL and is also a seasoned international so he will be a quality addition to the team when required.

Brilliant today. Been saying for weeks someone was due a hammering. Good link up play between forwards, midfield close to strikers when needed, communication all over the park and individual battles one.
I couldn't care that it was ten men for a hefty part, this Well team have milked beating us and out musciling on too many occasions for my liking.
I hope now the team imbeds in and fights like that every game and smashes teams at home, it's our fortress and let's make it the most unhealth of places too visit. Keep this momentum going BEARS.

Big plus for me today, apart from the goals of course, was the quality of the corners and free kicks into the box. Just heard Stevie G on Rangers tv singing the praises of young Middleton who he has to literally drag off the training pitch at the end of each session. Obviously the practice is paying off as evidenced by the almost undefendable balls he kept whipping in. Also a big shout out to Andy Halliday. I thought he was superb today. Everybody is quick to criticise him on these sites so only fair to give him such well deserved praise. Magnificent performance today and it will give the rest something to think about. We are only 2 points behind and still in Eurpoe. Who wouldn't have taken that at the start of the season?

Seeker, totally agree with your point re Andy Halliday. The whipping boy for many but I feel he adds more balance to the team with him being naturally left footed. I would keep him in there until Barasic returns from injury. Good performance today by all the boys and pleased to see Grezda getting off the mark. If we continue to play to our strengths, we can mount a better challenge this year.

I have read people advocating the likes of pena holt etc to comeback and do a job. These type of players were losing 5 goals every game to celtic, these type of players struggled to beat spl teams on a weekly basis. How on earth does anyone think that these type of players will add to our squad? We have player at the club who are already much better than the dross like pena and holt. I ask, who would we drop to accomodate the likes of pena and holt? The answer is that we wouldn't drop anyone for this dross. I wish people would switch on and think about it. We will never get to the top of scottish football or play in europe like we have been with the likes of pena, holt, mckay etc in our team👍.

Holt and pena would be used to cover injuries if they were lucky. But who would they be ahead of in the queue? Jack, arfield, coulibaly, ejaria, dorrans, rossiter, mcrorie or docherty? Gerrard has done well getting the best out of players but he is not a miracle worker. Neither or holt or pena would play ahead of any player in the list above. We will probably sign a creative mid in january aswell. Thoughts dunoon? 👍.

This game just showed that when motherwell are dealt with properly by referees they don't get away with that sort of thing. I am all for teams being aggressive, they should be and we are included in that, but when you cross the line you need to be punished for it, that also includes us. I am glad it gets it right up Hartley though that's nice.

I just think that when a team like well who rely heavily on being aggressive that's fine but you see yourself sometimes with our refs these guys get to make 3 or 4 pretty poor challenges before seeing a card which ultimately could result in breaking up 3 or 4 good attacks, on the other hand if they get a booking when they should they won't be able to make that challenge again.
FB your right there wasn't much made of it really but I think it was pretty late the we man's 1st touch gave the defender a sniff.

Aye I would say it's up for grabs, celtic are still a better team than us, that's just being realistic but going on their results in the league this season there is inconsistency there. If we can be more consistent we have every chance but we have to beat them at some point.

I think when Goldson and Katic were our regular two central defenders the team were doing well. This tinkering by alternating between Katic and Worral hasn't helped the confidence of these two. Similarly, we need a regular left back while Barisic is injured. It is no coincidence in my mind that our form has stuttered since this tinkering began. We need a run with a settled defence. OK injuries happen, e. g. Wallace and Barisic, but I'd play Halliday at left back until Barisic is fit again. In midfield, Jack should be the first name on the teamsheet and I'd like to see McCrorie given a run. Big game today as ever and a win is a must. Win our next two games (both at home) and the worst scenario is we'd be second behind that lot.

Not posted for a while now but had to post in defence of Coops11 in saying Cadden for Rangers. As I have been touting Cadden on here for over 2 years. Yes the now he is not Rangers first 11 class but neither Halliday. But Halliday offers us versatility and cover on the left which Cadden would do on the right. Free transfer in the summer so we should be able to get him for knock down fee in January.
Only young so also time for him to develop.

Halliday is way short of the quality needed if we ever want to compete with Celtic. I doubt he would get a game with Hibs or Hearts yet some people seem to think he is good enough for us.
