Come the end of this season Danny Wilson will be Scotland's best central defender.

If Wilson gets a run of games alongside Hill or Senderos, he could become one of our most crucial players.

A decent centre back with some pace to come in January and we could have a relatively solid defence for the rest of the season.

11 Oct 2016 23:57:14
Starch must go NOW but who do we offer the job too. Billy Davies? And should the rest of this campaign be used to build a team, giv young players the chance to step in. So the new manager comes in tells us qualification is highly unlikely and we will use it to build a team. Just get that wee fud OUT.

12 Oct 2016 00:13:03
Foreign gaffer for me must be someone decent out there.

12 Oct 2016 08:24:49
I think it might go to Tommy Wright or Davies. but would the sfa appoint someone like Davies? probably just give it to mark m ghee.

12 Oct 2016 08:27:41
You could be right Thorn. It says more about the standard of central defenders we as a nation produce though than it does about Wilson's ability.

12 Oct 2016 08:48:58
Sorry bigblue ayr, this is not the time for a foreign coach as our national manager imo, the outstanding choice with who's capable and available out there just now its an absolute no brainer as far as i'm concerned. The outstanding choice for me is billy davies without a shred of doubt, this superb coach ticks EVERY box, a new scotland management team of billy davies with big joe jordan as his assistant would be my perfect dream team to replace strachan and could!

12 Oct 2016 10:05:41
Think I would prefer foreign coach. We need someone to take a fresh look at things strachan played his favs. Nobody springs to mind that would want job though.

12 Oct 2016 10:37:05
I might have a look at the odds on Alex McLeish taking over as next Scotland manager. Not a terribly inspired choice but did a decent job at Rangers, took Birmingham into the top ten of the Premier League and won the League Cup with them.

Strikes me there is no outstanding candidate for the job though.

12 Oct 2016 10:49:27
I would take my pal Tam as Scotland manager. He's no bad at champ manager on his computer n that. Anybody would be better than Strachan. I would take McLeish in a heartbeat, although after seeing him punditing on the telly, it seems he's on some serious meds or something. Can barely string a sentence together. When he said "Catch 24" on Saturday and caused a brief spell of heavy awkwardness, I nearly peeled my skin aff.

I would take a foreign manager too. Anybody. Here SuperCooper you want the job?

12 Oct 2016 12:56:09
tHE ONLY MAN FOR THE JOB. SIR WALTER.

12 Oct 2016 13:16:02
Aye, the Rangers job DUNFERMLINE LOYAL. Only joking lads put the knives back in the drawer๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ดโšช๏ธ๐Ÿ”ต.

12 Oct 2016 13:46:10
well said dunfermlineloyal walter would be my first choice but the shocker is my second choice and I know u guys won't like it, its lambert.

go on hit me with the anti ex celtic stuff. but for me he getsw teams to play good football.

leave it on a good note still want walter as my first choice.

12 Oct 2016 16:23:12
Thought I was being funny there but then I realised you meant Scotland job. Fine. I'll get my coat, phone a taxi, etc etc.

12 Oct 2016 20:02:50
Mccoist, durrant and mcdowell. can't be worse than chesney the bitter dhim.

12 Oct 2016 21:40:10
Monty - I won champions league 10 seasons in a row for rangers in football manager (without cheating) .

Surely I'm in the running too?

I think McLeish, Davies, Lambert are all worth considering along with whoever else is interested- but iv got 20 of the finest notes that say Mark McGhee would get it. Jobs for the boys is sfa motto.

12 Oct 2016 22:06:07
Andy1872, if the sfa ever get rid of chesney, the new manager will be lambert, or john kennedy or john collins or dalgliesh, or mcgrain, or chris sutton, or neil lennon or paul mcstay ime sure most people know it will be someone linked to celtic.

11 Oct 2016 23:17:54
Tonight! Yet again as a nation we get made to look like mugs by a manager who promised change but delivers so little! He falls back on players that " he relies on " allegedly but these players are so inept its unbelievable! We have gone from 5-0 winners against Malta to scraping a draw against a team that's not won in two years! We travel to one of the weakest teams in the group and yet again get made to look foolish! From now on we need to get rid of the wee ginger fook and bring in someone who's not scared to change it!

Now I ain't got anyone in mind but surely we have a manager out there that'll see some vision in our game the same way Wales, N. I and other smaller nations have done!

We are going back to previous glorious failures that are getting more distant than we can think of ( nearly as bad as 66 in my mind ) that's how long it seems and I know it ain't!

Even though I'm born and bred here but my father was a tally I'll always support our great nation but even for me this is becoming a chore under this wee ginger fook!

Bring someone with a bit of vision in now and I'd gladly see what fellow Bears think who could do a job for us?

12 Oct 2016 08:25:22
it's embarrassing no fight or emotion. no plan from the manager. captain can barely even run.

12 Oct 2016 08:51:40
In 2 words blackwoodbear 'BILLY DAVIES'. What's your thoughts on that my friend?

12 Oct 2016 09:43:37
It's strachans attitude that really annoys me, it stinks, he treats people like their stupid when he's doing his interviews, plus his team selection is a joke, c, mon Martin before wee griff, lol
I'm gutted, I love my country but it's time to get Walter back to manage the Scotland job, that's if he would want it.

12 Oct 2016 12:14:25
The two fletchers shouldn't be anywhere near the starting line up why was Robertson on bench best player against Lithuania Griffiths on bench as well as Anya mind boggles go now Ginger midget.

12 Oct 2016 20:59:02
Supercoopereleven thas not a bad shout there my friend and to be fair at this present time I think we need someone like the wee man that ain't afraid to drop the ones Ginger seems to count on! The two Fletchers shouldn't wear the jersey again, we need more youth/ energy about the team, two CB are absolutely gash and why we don't play on form strikers is beyond me!

The whole team needs a kick up it's arse as everyone of them should be proud to wear our national jersey and when you look down the line before kick off half the team didn't even know the words to the national anthem!

12 Oct 2016 18:38:19
Blackwoodbear, There is no such thing as glorious failure.

12 Oct 2016 21:42:56
Stachan knows best. Everyone else is wrong because they don't know what he knows- that's Steven Presleys defense of him.

Clearly someone headed a ball too many. Fact that strachan handed him a coshty coaching role is nothing whatsoever to do with it. Jobs for the boys.

13 Oct 2016 07:41:54
Biffo it was said tongue in cheek! Dishco I agree and have you actually seen the size of the team that he had around him? SFA has a fair wage bill just sitting there fooking up our qualification!

13 Oct 2016 07:41:54
Biffo it was said tongue in cheek! Dishco I agree and have you actually seen the size of the team that he had around him? SFA has a fair wage bill just sitting there fooking up our qualification!

11 Oct 2016 21:55:46
Absolutely weeing myself at strapon and his motley crew, lol thought of a few songs, here we go.

1 it's a heart ache

4 never ending story ( my favourite)
5 down the dustpipe ( the campaign)

there's loads man

Enjoy anyways, lol mon Friday back to the real stuff.

12 Oct 2016 09:44:44
I'm gutted about last night, strachan must go.

12 Oct 2016 15:52:33
Stuzo must be Jimmy Hills Boy ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚.

11 Oct 2016 21:26:22
I have to say even for Scotland that is truly embarrassing! Almost got beaten at home by Lithuania and getting pumped off a team that has one good player and zero ambition! Half of our team plays in the EPL, the rest at top Championship clubs, and we go expecting to get beaten by amateurs. The mentality from the SFA down to those 11 mugs on the field is rank! A bunch of losers to be quite honest!

11 Oct 2016 21:52:17
Great post mate sack srrachan tonight make him swim home arrogant barsteward .

12 Oct 2016 09:46:07
A better manager would get more from that team, get Walter back.

12 Oct 2016 17:36:40
Taxi for Chesney.

12 Oct 2016 17:23:41
Think your being a bit harsh on Slovakia. Hamsik is a very good player as is the guy who scored the 2 goals.

11 Oct 2016 21:21:57
Brilliant post ssi
How can us fans of Rangers support the national team who's fans detest our football club๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ.

11 Oct 2016 21:59:11
Yately, you shouldn't let any morons or moron stop you from supporting your country mate! Its some of the moron scotland fans that's participating on this ned behaviour not the scottish football players mate! Try and see it for what it is! Don't let stupid wee neds put you off! I'll tell you one thing they won't and never will stop me from supporting my country and i'm very proud to do so!

11 Oct 2016 22:09:37
Gutted at result tonite can't understand people born in this country celebrating a Scotland defeat what is going on here .

12 Oct 2016 00:16:48
It's a disgrace mate, same ones you will see every week with England and NI tops on.

12 Oct 2016 08:27:41
how can you be scottish and not support Scotland!? some of the fans at ibrox are absolute wallopers doesn't stop me supporting rangers. bet you wear an England top to ibrox.

12 Oct 2016 13:58:51
saying a national teams fans dislike our club sorry mate what a load of Lillian gish.
rangers fans make up almost half of the population of our country and celtic almost the other half with the rest being split between the rest. so if it wasn't for the idiots that support the English then we would have a louder voice than the idiots that don't like our club but naw some rangers fans and some celtic fans choose to support other country's in tournaments .

name another country where this happens?
its a joke and those people bring shame to our game idiots like aiden mcgreedy.

11 Oct 2016 21:15:52
Scotlands centre halves garbage. Wilson better than Hanley who can't get a game at Newcastle.

11 Oct 2016 20:09:59
After another scene on Saturday that enraged Rangers fans, will the Bears ever feel the urge to stand beside the tartan army again?
One of my earliest football memories was sitting, along with a dozen kids, on the floor in front of some rearranged sofas full of our adult male neighbours who were drinking a pile of beer from cans with a cavalier looking man or my favourite that had gorgeous ladies on the back. All crammed in to our living room on account of us having the newest telly in the street.
It was 1978 and as a five year old the memories will never leave me. A community joined in one aim and the emotional roller coaster I witnessed from the adults drew my attention more than wee Archie's wonder goal that day.
I was part of a full house at the old Hamden for a friendly v Argentina. Can you imagine that happening again?
Wembley, Euro96, I travelled down ticketless and paid far too much money for a front row seat in the England end from a tout. For those in any doubt, i was supporting Scotland that day.
I doubt I'll ever repeat any of the aforementioned experiences in my lifetime.
I like many bears feel totally disenfranchised from the Scottish football team. I didn't even know the score from the Lithuania game until well after the final whistle and that was only after I read many social media posts about the tartan armies treatment of Rangers club captain.
Back when Butcher and Woods stared for England and more than a few bears supported them, I was content following Scotland. That's no longer the case.
International weeks hold no interest at all for me now.
The reasons are many and complex to some but Wallace isn't the first Rangers player to get the treatment from the self proclaimed best fans in the world, the governing body does nothing to embrace me and the political scene at the moment all exclude me from being excited about a team I once followed with pride.
Something drastic has to happen that makes a guy go from driving 400 miles and pay 4 times face value for a ticket to where I am now and 20 years later I wouldn't open the curtains if they played in my garden.
The SFA, the tartan army and Scottish politics have merged in to a cocktail that I don't like the taste of and I can't see me changing anytime soon.
20 years ago as I stood at Wembley singing both anthems I could never envisaged where I'd be today.
It's a funny old game.

11 Oct 2016 22:20:26
Totally agree mate horrible country we live in like so many other Bears . Make him swim home with p45 worst coach ever.

12 Oct 2016 08:01:31
Whats politics got to do with Scotland getting humped 3-0 last night!?

And Britbear if its such a horrible country then you can always move.

12 Oct 2016 14:01:44
im gonny start the bring back berti campaign.

12 Oct 2016 17:17:17
What a fantastic post my Scotland dream started with John Robertson scoring a penalty against England then at Hampden seeing Kenny D score against Spain like you it was 100% rangers and 100% Scotland.

these days its Rangers and only Rangers your Stuart Cosgroves of this world and anti Rangers sentiment combined with the political situation making my type the Unionists as second class Scottish has made me so uninterested in Scotland and the Tartan we hate rangers mob.

12 Oct 2016 17:29:21
Selective memory ma friend the treatment celtic players received from the tartan army especially the 70s and 80s was ridiculous nevermind trying to get selected.

12 Oct 2016 23:04:34
Jjisataig , i couldny have put it any better myself,

11 Oct 2016 04:37:21
Question Bears, I did mention on another post but who actually thinks Warbs will play 4-3-3 against the dark side? I really do think Warbs is a intelligent Manager, I think we need to give him time and the squad will perform better as season progresses. Its obvious that Warbs strongly believes in this formation BUT imo it must be changed against certain teams/ venues. I just feel that if we go into the tic game 4-3-3 after being on the receiving end of a 5-1 defeat the abuse will be coming from all angles, I personally think 3 CB's with wing backs alternating is a start, BUT does any Bear out there actually think we will be go to Hampden with the possibility of getting the first piece of silverware of the season and Warbs plays 4-3-3!

11 Oct 2016 09:07:21
Making a back 3 work takes ages to perfect and work on the training park, i'd rather play the way we do or just stick to a 4231 when defending but the habit of the wingers is that they don't need to defend. Games are won and lost in the midfield in OF games and on second balls anyways, changing to 5 at the back would just invite pressure and our players don't cope very well on the back foot of games.

Need to start fast, high intensity, win the second ball and overun their midfield, keep pace on the wings to move in behind when they come forward as well. Either play waghorn through the middle or don't play him at all becuase McKay is stuck to the left when Waghorn is on the right.

11 Oct 2016 10:09:25
I often wonder if warbs would consider changing from 4-3-3 for certain games . I mean surely if he had got into Europe this season he wouldn't have played 4-3-3 against the better teams away from home for instance .

11 Oct 2016 13:04:20
He plays 4-3-3 regardless of who we are playing he's not for changing the formation under any circumstance.

11 Oct 2016 13:29:23
4-4-2 IS THE WAY FORWARD I THINK.
Our best players are our midfielders and narrowing them down to just three means u have couple of your best sitting doing nothing whilst selik take control of the midfield by playing 5 in the middle of the park which means we don't have any options to play forward .
but if we are to play 4-3-3 niko can't be anywhere near thastarting line up as we need pace and workhorses in there to make up for the lack of numbers.

11 Oct 2016 13:48:06
Stick to the same formation and tactics but use different personnel and we should give them a decent game. No McKay or Miller starting IMO. I can't see us winning it unless they don't show up but I don't think it'll be another gubbing. Who knows tho, it's an OF on neutral ground - anything can happen.

11 Oct 2016 15:21:23
Its all about midfield battle and 433 is ideal as long as the mid 3 are proper midfielders, ie not playing forrester or niko as one of these 3 it needs to b 3 who don't mind a scrap! Would like halliday rossiter and crooks in there but unfortunately think its too soon to pitch crooks into OF having not played first team, like windass and forester to be used as the two link players supporting garner, both are very busy and don't mind a scrap either.

11 Oct 2016 16:56:30
Playing with width is all well and good if you have enough players in the box which we don't half the time i reckon 4.4.2 is the way to go.

11 Oct 2016 17:44:58
I agree wholeheartedly with Nic-861 when he states its very important that we start with the correct 3 in midfield against celtic, most often than not these games are one by the midfield that is on top during the game, this is where the debate starts regarding which 3 start in our midfield, i agree with alex rae's statement in the daily record this morning, for me 2 of our 3 that imo must start in our midfield against them in the semi has to be holt and halliday, the big headache for me is who is the 3rd member to play beside them, i would personally play rossiter if he's fit beside holt and halliday as our midfield 3!

11 Oct 2016 18:23:07
Hallidy, windass and holt mid 3 possibly rossiter instead of holt and we'l b fine.

11 Oct 2016 18:34:12
4-4-2, 4-1-3-2, Either one of these formations for me is a MUST! We definetly need the system against celtic. We will lose the battle in midfeild playing 4-3-3 and Brenda knows this, Leicester played most games 4-4-2 and it worked for them. I think he's going to stick with it tho, if so the players fielded need to take the game to them, I think confidence is vital, the players need to believe that they can nail this formation. On another note I really hope Warbs has addressed the fact that our shots on target ratio is absolutely disgraceful and the lads need to start having a dig once they've worked the ball into decent areas. The lads do have the skill and ability to get their shots on target from around the 18yd box but they don't seem to believe in themselves. So in short if Warbs is going to go 4-3-3 then he must know that the lads are full of confidence and believe in their ability a huge factor in this system. Bold and Ballsy decision if he does but also asking a lot of the players, If at half time it's not coming off then he must change it, could be asking too much of the players up against.

11 Oct 2016 19:27:14
Bluedie, I wouldn't play windass as one of the 3 midfielders mate, I'd play windass as one of our 3 forwards if anywhere!

11 Oct 2016 20:55:45
Respect your opinion mate but my reasoning was his powerful running against that mob the last time just a pity he had 2 cart horses in beside him. if he could play up top that wid actually b better as rossiter could be our sitter and let holt and halliday do their stuff alongside him.
