Use our rumours form to send us rangers transfer rumours.

12 Dec 2015 19:38:08
Just want to say before we come on here and moan about performaces watch videos of last season and remember we r in a rebuilding process takes time to get players playing our system and used to scottish football.

12 Dec 2015 20:56:59
Scottym28 the most sensible op post I've seen on here in a long time mate, seriously pal, some people honestly believe the saying, "Rome wasn't built in day", is a Mith.

12 Dec 2015 21:09:01
Last year is irrelevant now and it was that bad then anything is an improvement. What you have to remember is that we are playing in the 2nd tier of Scottish football with a lot of part time teams. Yes the football is better but it's still way short of where we need to be and its worrying that we are struggling to put away part time teams.

12 Dec 2015 21:58:18
Yep. Nice one Scotty. I understand everyone's frustration but I feel that shows we have come a long way as we now expect to win all the time and we get angry when we have an off day. Justifiably so as the Hat has raised the bar and our expectations as a result. Some of us have mentioned playing too high up the pitch and not having the room to cut through defences. Teams are not going to come at us and create space for an open game. They know the only way to play us is to stifle us and hit on the break which is why I think we play high up the park. We are a work in progress and a good one at that.

12 Dec 2015 22:48:16
Biffo there is only two partime teams in the championship Alloa and Dumbarton who we have played twice each takeing 12 points scoring 15 goals for and 2 against so don't think we are struggling 2 put them away. If we win 4-0 and score 3 goals in the last 10 mins is that a struggle? Win 4-0 and score 3 goals in first 10 mins and it's not. Our goal is to win the league this season and we are top just now so I think that is where we want to be. we have had 1 transfer window to build entire team so where should we be well. Let's win this league first then we can see what is needed for the next challenge.

12 Dec 2015 23:26:59
East enclosure

We are still competing against teams that don't have anywhere near the resources we have. We should be hammering these teams but we have struggled against Dumbarton, Livingston, Morton and QoS. The goal is not just to win the league but be able to challenge for the title. We still need 6 or 7 top quality players to get anywhere near Celtic.

12 Dec 2015 21:59:55
we were lucky today hibs drew but falkirk were one of their harder games. morton were not ours we have still to play falkirk and we have hibs at ibrox today, was a huge missed chance.

13 Dec 2015 01:33:45
Biffo this season the goal is to win the league the 6 or 7 top quality players that u are talking about would proberly not come to the championship. no European football and no international football (just ask lee Wallace ) I can think of another team that has a lot more resources than legia Warsaw, Maribo, Malmö and, molde and u no what happened there. All I'm saying is let's win the league then next season hopefully add more quality players to the squad and we might just surprise some people.

13 Dec 2015 09:48:06
Totally echo East enclosure 107 here, spot on mate, let's win the championship title FIRST and then we can think about improving our team for our premiership assault! For all those impatient fans, rome wasn't built in a day and thus far 'the magic hat' and davie weir have done a terrific job and I buy into and back them to the hilt!

12 Dec 2015 17:35:47
Just lucky for 7s hibs drew too. our main problem is we play too high up the park. let's pull back and play across half way line instead of the 18 yarder. no room to thread fag paper through defences. just pull back and pull teams out then we can try play killer passes. this just not working. i said it couple weeks ago. were 50-50 whether we go up this year at the moment.

12 Dec 2015 19:01:36
its because we don't/cant shoot defence goes high up.

12 Dec 2015 19:04:49
we need a midfield enforcer, zelalem is way to lightweight and rem he's only18 I recon he is a good player in his mind but makes to many mistakes, wtf does he no play hardie instead o Clark, it's a no brainer.

12 Dec 2015 19:52:43
just wished we had matched Hibs asking price for Scott Allan, now he's fit and getting some game time with Celtic, I think he would he would have been a great player to have in the midfield, the guys looking real class.
big mistake not pushing the board out instead of making silly offers in the summer.

12 Dec 2015 20:59:20
Bluebeard I honestly think we had no chance of getting Allan, not while Stubbs is in charge over at the place, he would have let his contract run out rather than sell to us.

12 Dec 2015 17:35:24
Anyone know when Law will be back? Just my opinion and decry it if you like but I reckon we could be doing with him right now, he always takes long pot shots at goal and we are missing that.

13 Dec 2015 07:54:16
Law was a good player at Motherwell but was destroyed by the two halfwits at Rangers that called themselves coaches. I doubt he will ever be back and in any event if we sign a quality defensive midfield player Halliday can move further forward!

12 Dec 2015 18:30:39
get rid of Clarke. he couldny score in a barrel of desperate dannies. sign muller from Bayern quick. seriously, we need a six yard box man pronto. otherwise its Dundee utd in the play offs. deecee.

12 Dec 2015 18:47:32
Said before Clarke will never be our main striker simply not good enough.

12 Dec 2015 19:02:20
deecee
we never get the ball in the six yard box.

13 Dec 2015 07:56:05
Clarke will never be a quality player so yes, I would let him go, but he is not the only one in the current squad that is not good enough for Rangers. Sadly for Clarke he was destroyed by our previous excuse for a management team.

12 Dec 2015 17:20:29
Today's performance is not a one off. We need a bit of substance in the middle of the park.
I agree with weebill about the tip tappy stuff we play, and no I do not want to go back to punt and hope, but we must have a plan B.
We need to win games when things are not plain sailing. Playing attacking football is great but we convert less than 20% of attempts on goal and that is not good enough. I know it sounds crazy but we play too high up the park. We need to draw teams and play fast from midfield.
Unfortunately, our current playing staff could not play that way and are too lightweight.
Hopefully there are some players on the radar more suited to championship football in a Scottish winter.

12 Dec 2015 18:05:10
We can't draw these teams out, they go out specifically to play 9 men along there 18 yard box.

12 Dec 2015 18:27:12
Though we are a million miles away from the type of football played when McCoist was in charge there still seems to be a tendency to play the same team most of the time. McCoist famously didn't give the kids a chance so Murdoch, Thompson, Hardie and Walsh seem to be excluded. Also, Dean Shiels, Fraser Aird and Nicky Law might freshen things up. 1 defeat, 2 draws, 13 wins isn't a disaster but with Hibs drawing at home today, chance missed. We can't afford to slip up in the next two games against Falkirk and Hibs. If we can emerge in the new year with a six point lead over Hibs then fine but if we are level (or worse) I fear for the rest of the season.

12 Dec 2015 18:21:07
Billy's I kind of agree with your tippy tapped point, but 2 weeks ago after getting to half time with Dumbarton we came out, sat further back and played quicker balls into the box, we eventually won 4-0, so I wonder why we don't sit back more and do as we done then.

our defence is always too far forward IMO, last season under mccoist team scored against us by breaking forward quickly, though I blamed the age of our defenders at that time, but these younger players would be up to speed for these breaks if only the dropped back more .

12 Dec 2015 19:03:51
DOGIER

He is giving Barry McKay a chance and if he is the best of the youngsters I hope I don't see any more anytime soon.

12 Dec 2015 19:40:18
Billybluenose, our first paragraph states the way I see it, play a bit deeper and break fast. The tiptappy stuff comes about when your high up the park in numbers and from 18-30 yards out, the area is crowded, thus the short passing is essential. Play deeper and breaking fast means a few more offsides, but usually creates better chances.
I agree with Deeb, McKay is the right type of player to give us width but he is hopeless.
Given our current players I would play 3 at the back with a diamond in front of them. Wide in the diamond I would play Tavernier and Wallace, with Halliday deep and Sheils or Law forward. I'd play 2 up front and the other player positioned as the situation requires.
Just my thoughts boys, but would give us a stronger core.

12 Dec 2015 21:06:16
Billyb, the tippy tippy stuff from 18 yards to 30 yards gives the opposition plenty of time to get back and crowd us out, would you not prefer to see us play every game like we played 2nd half of the Dumbarton game; quick couple of passes saw us go two up quickly, forcing them to come out, thus allowing us to score another couple.

13 Dec 2015 05:36:41
Good morning all. I have to admit I had expected some of you on here talking about a change in system etc. The pessimism from you all is quite embarrassing tbh. When Warbs first joined he made it very clear. He will play with one system and one method, All out attack, If plan A doesn't work, then they need to work on it. There is no Plan B. He will use a small, young, hungry squad. Now either senility is kicking in or, your all women as I have never seen so many people be so fickle, or forgetful. 2 draws and a loss and 'woe is me the world is ending, we need to change the formation, McKay is McKrap, they need to stop passing the ball. ' Really?!?!

13 Dec 2015 08:40:59
I'm with u on this teddy some of the posts after the game was embarrassing. Like I said in my posts yesterday we can all be a bit dissapointed after a game but I think some of my fellow bears were maybe on the sauce a bit early yesterday. we even had some who wanted MW sacked . Couldn't believe my eyes.

13 Dec 2015 08:06:57
We have the nucleus of a decent quality side for Scotland and three quality signings in January should see us gain promotion, especially if we sign the young striker currently on loan. That said, we are well short of the quality that we will need to compete for a top spot in the Premier League and in Europe.

We have to accept that right now we are very much work in progress and Warburton has so far done a remarkable job given the total lack of a playing squad left by the previous management and the lack of financial resources that would still appear to be a major issue.

I am a big fan of the passing game but we are depending on young players like Zetalem that have still a lot to learn and others like McKay that, for me, are not good enough for Rangers.

January will be a defining month because it will show whether King is willing to invest since we need three quality players that we will need to spend at least £3m, maybe more, on, to secure their signatures. The trick for us will be to get to January without dropping any more points.

13 Dec 2015 16:30:22
Teddy I'm with you to an extent mate, but like I say our first half against dunbarton we couldn't break them down, 2nd half we played further back move the ball into there box quicker we were one in in the first minute of 2nd half then a long ball into box bang another, forcing them to come out a quickly taken corner resulted in a penalty, I would definetly like to see us playing more like this if we are struggling to break teams down, our first cup game against his was much the same quicker into ball into the box we scored 6 that day.

12 Dec 2015 17:16:46
That was a joke today. If mw thinks that teams good enough for pl we need to get rid of him. Throwing away points against a squad that we should have ripped apart. matched last seasons squad if not worse today.

12 Dec 2015 17:34:25
Wow get rid of warburton after a draw gis peace seriously just re read your post and tell me honestly you don't feel a complete person for writing waffle in the heat of the moment! I agree improvements need to be made but just calm down the team we have will be improved before we start in the prem!

12 Dec 2015 17:54:19
Azzlee

Sure - but the results since beginning of November hardly inspiring?

Played 6 (4 at home) won half!

3 home wins all 4-0 great
2 draws
1 defeat

If this form continues then need to wait a year for promotion unless we get new players in January?

12 Dec 2015 18:07:00
Nah i still feel the same. He needs to wake up if he thinks that squads ready for promotion. And so does any fan that ain't embarraced with todays game. dropping 2 points against morton who were never in the game. Fair play if they played well but they done nothing and take a point.

12 Dec 2015 18:40:22
Guys just back home from the game today and a little disappointed but on another day we would have hammered them and maybe should have won it at the end when holt missed a sitter but through a season u get games like today. We are still 3 points clear. 16 games 13 wins 2 draws 1 defeat. Not that bad imo with a new manager and basically a new team. That's just my opinion also thing some of the comments on this page after the game are way overboard. Maybe said at the heat of the moment but still not right. Nobody enjoys dropping points lads so enjoy the reset of your Saturday nite and let the team take out there frustrations on Falkirk next week.

12 Dec 2015 18:59:21
On another day, on another day we keep hearing this phrase. You have got to do it on the day or you won't get another chance. Change the tactics tighten up the defence and get a prolific goal scorer and get rid of Clarke IMO . Just angry at not taking advantage of Hibs result.

12 Dec 2015 21:34:29
Ranger57 I agree we have slowed and it's simply teams sussing is out but come on calling for warburton to be sacked? Bit over zealous no?

I feel warburton will strengthen in January and also again in the summer . Yeah held to a draw today but we just battered our last 2 opponents 4 nil some people just don't realise things take time I would much rather see us playing the football we are this year as opposed to the garbage that was on show the last few years warburton will return is to the top very shrewd man hope he is here for many many years.

12 Dec 2015 21:37:13
Nelson I didn't say I wasn't screwing over today's result what got me was you calling for warburton to be sacked absolutely the worst comment I have seen on here since snowy the dug.

If you can honestly hold your hands up and say you believe the man should be sacked you my friend are a fool.

12 Dec 2015 22:53:09
Let's put it another way one of the last 6 games was a cup win - excepting that

The fact is the record is simply

2 wins out of 5 with
2 draws and 1 defeat

So we have beaten a couple of part-time teams 4-0 and you all thinking we will get promotion?

Sorry but MW will have to do better on the basis of the last 5 league games or we should let join an English Premership side if they will have him!

Otherwise we wil be rotting in the lower divisions forever!

13 Dec 2015 00:26:44
Rangers57 I look at it the opposite way played 17 won 13 lost one and drew two, not bad for a team assembled together in such a short space of time we have had one transfer window, and spent less than 7 hundred grand, though I have to admit I'm looking forward to the next transfer window as m.w. now knows what is needed for him to get us promotion in his first season in Scotland.

13 Dec 2015 16:07:05
I said that in the heat of the moment. Fact is at start of season even playing poor we should not be dropping points like that. Wasnt acceptable last year for a worse squad. When we played a team didn't even challenge us n almost got beat think half these so called fans have forgot what passion is. Mw still got a lot to learn n fast if he's at a club as big as rangers. We should be scraping wins on bad days not gifting clubs.

13 Dec 2015 16:39:11
Nelson takes a bigger man to admit they where a bit hasty with there comments but a lot of the so called fans who have forgot what passion is don't scream for the managers head with 13 wins 2 draws 1 defeat.

12 Dec 2015 17:10:13
What does M. W. see in keeping zeleam
Until the summer one minute he is telling us he is going to bring in players in January to be bedded
For the next season and I do not think the boy brings enough to warrant another 6 months wages
When we should be looking at players
Who will be at ibrox next season.

12 Dec 2015 19:08:15
Zelalem is the new pillow, mmm rubbish.

12 Dec 2015 17:05:45
sorry also meant to add

22 shots only 6 on target
and 12 corners once again.

What do we practice at training then? God on;y knows.

12 Dec 2015 17:15:37
Yes all very poor and unacceptable- what hope in next 2 games against "higher" placed teams!

Too much talk coming from the players and manager that they are not "scared" of Hibs!

Well time for them to prove ithey have the guts for the next two games or else it's the slippery slope for us all!

12 Dec 2015 16:55:31
okdont keep Zelalem, let him go in January he's too lightweight and tippy tappy for me. Second point, nobody is going to tell me those players don't have something on their minds! What is going on OFF the park IS dragging them down, heres my opinion -, today team was the same squad, whatschanged? King and Ashley, that's what the problem is, and the latest lies re the UNPAID £5m, justabout had enough. Time we found someone with the same kind of cash as Ahley and either put up or shut up, we are starting to lose face i think.

12 Dec 2015 17:32:13
I thought Zelalem was our best player and don't know why he was subbed. He gives great passes to other players and what they do with it is up to them. The off field issues have nothing to do with it. Waghorn and Tavernier are shadows of themselves of 3 months ago and a couple of others have gone off the boil.

The opposition are now reading us like a book and we have no players who can spring a surprise. We're putting youngsters on the bench each week but that's where they generally stay. We desperately need to sign players in January or we'll be facing the play offs and none of us want to go down that road.

12 Dec 2015 17:10:48
wee bill the fact is the other teams have sussed how to play aginst us its now time to be a bit more direct and get a big rumble them up centre.

12 Dec 2015 18:01:48
Sussed how to play against us? By what parking the bus? How do u expect us to play? It doesn't matter what we play every single team will do the same park the bus and kick us off the park.

12 Dec 2015 19:07:21
kfraser

if we are talking about todays game, what did you see in Zelalem?

He failed to hit with half of his passes, he did not shoot when it was the better option on at least 4 occasions, his positional awareness is poor and consequently his effectiveness was zero.
Please tell me what you saw.

12 Dec 2015 19:59:47
Deeb, what I saw was a player with a fantastic first touch, who makes making space for himself look easy and who certainly had a better pass rate than you say. I agree he's lacking a shot on him but he put others through who could have done something better. Why blame him anyway? Waghorn's control was poor, Tavernier couldn't get past a defender, McKay could have, should have shot from his cut ins, our corners were wasted and none of the subs did anything of note.

12 Dec 2015 20:03:35
cee that's the way it is but when the the bus is parked and u try to pass the ball into the net it gets to crowded in the last third at times we are needing to play back to front because when teams defend deep u can't get in behind them.

12 Dec 2015 16:44:43
Mw should go had enuff of the last few games the other teams no how we play and he still plays same tatics every week.

12 Dec 2015 16:57:31
And who would YOU like instead.
Please, enlighten us.

12 Dec 2015 16:59:35
yeah mate let's bring back mccoist and we can enjoy long ball football.

12 Dec 2015 17:02:08
Dont agree that MW should go but this should be a big wake up call. I don't think we are as good as the management team and players think they are. Points lost today and we actually are a championship team at the moment and need a good few players to get the one secure promotion place.

12 Dec 2015 17:09:30
ar9

Exactly mate the fans are that desperate to have success that they have went overboard with Warburton. We aren't that great a team and he has done nothing yet. Have played some really poor football under him and are now struggling to break down part time teams.

12 Dec 2015 17:12:45
Better get a grip or another year at least in the championship. Must kill of teams or else.

12 Dec 2015 17:11:41
Totally flat, ponderous, tired looking display.
Hibs snatchin a draw with 10 men too, that's the mark of champions.

12 Dec 2015 17:36:16
Op this team was brought together over a couple of month, they have played 16 league games as a team, give them a break, we will be bringing in a few more players for the second half of the season, I think you could have had a point had we been sitting mid table, but cmon, give them a break, yes we should be beating teams like morten (a team then ended talks of trebles in the east end last season) games like this happen but having lost one and drawn two is not to bad, considering we are still sitting top of the league.

12 Dec 2015 17:25:53
Sacking MW is a bit on the crazy side, personally I would let him go if he wants to but sacking him is a crazy proposition. He must be sending signals he's available otherwise he would not be getting strongly linked with every job going.

His flaws are quite obvious to anyone outside the "warburton is god" group. No plan B, if plan A doesn't work its just more of the same. The team do play more attractive football than mccoists team but let's be honest, its not hard. We have been found out big time and very poor teams know that if they defend the box and hit on the break they stand a real chance of getting something. The lack of cutting edge must be addressed in January, it was obvious to many observers (I got pelters for pointing this out) that the summer business was insufficient. May of the players we are being linked with are simply not good enough

I truly hope that we get some quality in January and that Hibs don't have the best of Decembers otherwise we could face a major struggle to win league. Aside from todays draw Hibs have been the better side recently and have momentum. As I stated at start of the season man for man, position for position there team is very close to ours. With our playing budget that is not acceptable.

12 dec 2015 18:40:37
dm i would bring in.

13 Dec 2015 08:19:38
I have been looking through the comments and find it difficult to see why people want Warburton sacked. He is the best managerial signing since Souness and Smith were appointed and, like the Souness revolution will, given time, change things for the better.

People seem to be forgetting what Warburton inherited, a bunch of jokers that for three seasons had the misfortune of playing under the worst Rangers manager in living memory at a club previously run by a a bunch of crooks, (allegedly).

He had to build a team from scratch and has done pretty well to do that and have a Rangers team sitting on top of the league. let's not kid ourselves; we do not have a squad of players that are good enough, he has barely a first eleven that are good enough and has had to rely on youth players from England to put a team on the park.

In the short time he has been at Ibrox Warburton has made considerable inroads into developing a structure, (that was previously missing) , but it will take time to bring through our own quality young players. King now needs to put his money where his mouth is and provide the funds for a much needed defensive midfield player, a quality striker and a quality centre back.

We have the misfortune right now that teams like Hibs have been together for longer than us and have had the same level of coaching for two seasons or more. We have only had decent coaching since the club rid itself of McCoist and McDowall, two people that should never have been anywhere near the management roles at rangers.

13 Dec 2015 12:15:17
Well done Tom best post on here for a while. i couldn't disagree with one word of that. i also remember loseing our first 2 league games of the season hibs away and Dundee Utd at home under souness/smith and still won the league so I think some people on here are a bit to quick with there opinions spot on Tom.
