Looking at a piece in the Daily Rhebel re the Barton v Brown debate and surprise surprise it is clear that they are inferring that the Lego muncher is the better player going by championships won, well if you consider only 2 teams in the past 10 years have won it, you could therefore argue any Celtic player is better than Barton (which wouldn't be true) , however Joey has been in an English championship winning team and been top layer in.

Barton has been the top player in the Championship and has won player of the year prize in a more competitive league than the SPL compared to Brown having no individual honours, I know who I would put first.

12 Jun 2016 23:08:03
Can't compare the 2 as Brown has never played in the Premiership. To me he is or was a decent player in the spfl who was nowhere near good enough for the premiership. However fair play to him for realising this and playing in Scotland all his career. He snarling in your face tactics might work up here but in a decent league he would be exposed for the average player he is. Never shone in the champions league and poor in a Scotland jersey.

13 Jun 2016 17:31:15
Aye Biffo. Hard to argue with any of your post. Brown was a decent player, no more.

12 Jun 2016 18:58:42
Since the cup final, we haven't heard anything from Warburton or weir, I know they were on holiday for two weeks, but don't u guys think they should come out and tell us supporters what's going in.

12 Jun 2016 19:08:54
we heard from Weir when he commented that Hibs were the better team in the final. Correct no comment as far as I am aware from MW.

12 Jun 2016 19:27:59
Sorry TB, . I don't see or hear any other club coming out with a blow by blow account of their business. So would suggest we have patience, until the euros are past.
But then again, according to these pages we are linked with at least 20 players, so perhaps they are busy negotiating deals, AS THEY SHOULD BE.
It's not that long ago there were people on here complaining that business should be kept in house until a signing was definite and cut out the speculation.
Patience :-)
Onward and upward
Semper paratus.

12 Jun 2016 22:34:10
Don't panic lads!
Is MW not at the Euros to review a few games as part of his professional coaching badges?
He'll tell us what we need to know, when we need to know it.
Keep the faith.

As bil72 said, no other clubs come out with blow by blow accounts of their team affairs, it's just not MW's style, or anyone else's for that matter!

12 Jun 2016 19:05:23
Teddybear 73 would you get in touch with your empoyers to ask them what was happening, if you were on holiday? serious question mate.

13 Jun 2016 03:06:07
What you want then to come out and say. You want them to start posting photos of there dinner on Facebook so your in the loop.

13 Jun 2016 08:37:11
Are you daft MW spoke to talk sport before he went, he's on holiday **** sake he works 24/ 7 this is probably the only time of year he takes a break from it. Get behind the team and stop with all this stupid negativity all this complete nonsense is doing my head in. Anyone who thinks something's happened obviously don't know warburtons character.

13 Jun 2016 12:15:52
He can't still be on holiday! Preseason is about to start!

13 Jun 2016 12:27:42
What do you want him in the papers everyday talking carp?

12 Jun 2016 18:35:28
I don't know why anyone would believe the rubbish that the media spout. A week ago we weren't getting kranjcar cause his wife wanted to stay in the us and it took his father to come out to say "talks are still ongoing" Nothing angers me more than people buying into paper talk these same outlets have tried all season to tell us MW wants to leave MW is looking for a move down south.

They know you will buy it/ take the click bait because you're gullible. He has two years left on his contract we are in no rush to renegotiate in that sense i reckon he was on a low wage in case we didn't get promotion/ was a rubbish manager so we could just pay him off, now we are just trying to get him on a worthwhile contract since 6k a week i a joke for a top flight manager of our club.

When MW signed his contract he knew it was 3 years of 6k a week. He is a smart man and has signed on for the long term project. He is the footballing department of Rangers football club and from him to Mcparland and Weir its clear they are enjoying there time with us. I see no reason why Mark Warbutton wouldn't take an improved deal, whether way pay him 6k or 60k if he wants to go south and the offer is there that he would want of course he would take it, that's human nature. We aren't the bee all and end all of football we should be thankful for his services to the club so far and his endless efforts to turn around the footballing department.

12 Jun 2016 19:03:46
Well said! The reality is that he will use Rangers to further his career with the aim of landing a really big club in the EPL.

If he can overtake Celtic, strengthen our team/ club for the future then we should be thankful for his services and wish him well for the future.

Im sure that he will see out his 3 years - after that? Who knows!

13 Jun 2016 08:39:29
I'm just as bad how the **** would I know how much MW gets paid currently yet again #papertalk.

12 Jun 2016 17:19:51
I fully expect a slating for this but I feel the board has dropped the ball regarding Warburton. Bizarre timing for the contract renewal talks, after the cup final fiasco and just as he disappeared on holiday! I think this was to appease fans due to the nature that it all went very quiet! T-8 until preseason is fully underway and no defenders or a striker and this negative speculation will surely damage our chances of getting the players we desperately need!

12 Jun 2016 18:30:19
Aye mate, the season is goosed before we even kick a ball. I'd be surprised if the players bother trying this season, what with all the negative talk. Looking like a relegation fight. lol.

12 Jun 2016 18:53:02
I really feel for you, honestly I do. We have been abused, defrauded, completely disgraced by people who should have been our custodians. We have a completely unsubstanciated report of breakdown of talks with MW. The timing should be perfect, a manager contracted until 2018 performs up to, and batters expectations. OUr signings so far Excite me, perhaps we will fall short of winning the SPL next year, I hope not, but I have 2 substantial bets we finish above Aberdeen and Hearts. in Warbs we trust.

12 Jun 2016 19:04:24
Duly slated!

12 Jun 2016 20:07:24
@Cuilin I expected a slating but not that drivel patter!

13 Jun 2016 12:13:40
Wht do you mean disappeared on holiday do you want the guy doing press conferences at the hotel. We've made some quality additions so far a lot more and better than any other team in Scotland so give the staff and board a break will you stop reading the sun.

12 Jun 2016 16:53:16
Watching the build up to the NI game and it's showing Laffertys highlights looks to me as if he's grew up a bit and I for one would love him back need people who play for the badge.

12 Jun 2016 18:24:43
He's not in the game. Just running around like a headless chicken!

12 Jun 2016 20:30:24
He's a good player.

12 Jun 2016 20:51:37
He has had absolutely NO supply, not his fault. He is a much improved player.

12 Jun 2016 17:22:58
Gs1990 its a no from me on lafferty, but i would love steve davis back at our place.

12 Jun 2016 23:17:51
Davis would cost to much but I think Lafferty is in our price range.

13 Jun 2016 02:26:13
There is a reason Lafferty is in our price range, he is rubbish. I don't see a queue of clubs rushing to sign him and his performance today certainly won't improve his chances!

12 Jun 2016 16:02:46
Who here would like to see Rangers put in a bid for Robbie Muirhead?

12 Jun 2016 16:50:29
Not good enough.

12 Jun 2016 17:59:58
He's a young kid, lo9ked promising at killie.

12 Jun 2016 15:12:10
Now I'm not saying we should sign him but.
I noticed the BBC have advised Noel Hunt is hoping to come back to Scotland after his release. At the same time he is bigging up Barton moving to the Gers.
Do you think he is fishing for a link up?

12 Jun 2016 17:20:50
He is a Celtic fan and was never good enough!

12 Jun 2016 18:00:11
He is awful.

12 Jun 2016 18:31:28
He is a total Stephen Hunt.

12 Jun 2016 14:53:36
If the news on Warburton is true then heres why.

Barton is on 20k a week at Rangers and Warbs 6k a week.

Rooneys new contract at Utd was 250k p/ w under ferguson and he said you can't get paid more than the manager that's just wrong. Fergi got between 300 and 400k p/ w.

Warbs contract situation will be sorted and take note people are still on holiday so papers need to print something.

12 Jun 2016 14:59:02
I think the majority of managers are paid less than players nowadays, with the exception of Brendan Rodgers.

12 Jun 2016 15:34:27
Warburton signed Barton and knew the terms. The fact Barton is on more money won't bother warbs one bit. This will be resolved very soon.

12 Jun 2016 15:45:34
I very much doubt Barton is on 20k a week.

12 Jun 2016 16:48:46
Zidane and luiz Enrique must be on some wage then lol.

12 Jun 2016 16:50:56
Barton will be on 12-15k a week at the very most I think.

12 Jun 2016 18:18:10
The manager is always the most important man at a club and MW deserves more of a salary than Joey Barton.

12 Jun 2016 19:11:51
Not even thought of the MW issue salary wise because the
board would have a three year plan and that will include MW papers are stirring up a frenzy .
Chill, let's take next season first .

12 Jun 2016 17:25:57
Albertz i don't think br is on 45 grand at celtic, maybe 25 grandish, but that's good money for him, considering he has not done welll in managment, imo.

12 Jun 2016 23:34:54
I'm sure I read MW saying barton is on "nowhere near 15 grand"

12 Jun 2016 14:05:48
Mark Warburton might be on holiday but is the entire club on holiday?

If this turns out to be true, the fans deserve an explanation right now!

Some would say it's just rumours just now, don't give in to the stories that are trying to cause unrest.

If any group of fans don't deserve this it's ours. Rangers fans have been through the mill the last few years. Finally a positive manager and a positive group of players and then this happens.

12 Jun 2016 14:31:21
Are they expected to answer every little rumour no matter how ridiculous?
You say "positive manager and positive group of players" and yet your comments and 50% are negative.
Give them a break - they need holidays to recover and will hit the ground running very soon.
Positivity is the name of the game.

12 Jun 2016 14:55:37
Totally agree with you. Just a quick reaction to an unexpected story. Suppose that's all it is for now though, a story.

But I'm not trying to be negative about the club. As a Rangers fan it's very difficult to not react to these type of stories though.

When is very soon though. Tomorrow, a week tomorrow. It's just nerve racking and exciting at the same time for the coming season.

12 Jun 2016 19:19:35
Can't even believe someone can't get a holiday at the same time as the players etc .
What do you want a 24 hour call centre that will cost thousands!
Just keep using the rumour pages same as the rest of us
and look forward to when we are back .

12 Jun 2016 17:05:06
Now what happens. ? Nothing has happened mate, nothing, just a paper story, calm down, if warbs leave we will have another manager, McInnes probably, we are Rangers, not Warburton Utd.

12 Jun 2016 11:07:52
Hope the rumours are false with mw been class from the day he arrived but let's not forget no man is bigger than Rangers. Yes since he arrived he's worked wonders but rangers have done the same for him gave him the chance to build from scratch at one of the biggest teams in Europe I appreciate all he has done but he got sacked from Brentford would prolly be managing a bottom end championship team atm. Great manager but seen a rumour he wasn't happy a while ago on here would like to see him be more loyal never tells a reporter he not interested in jobs he been linked with in the past just say it flattering.

12 Jun 2016 13:51:36
Mark Warburton did not get sacked from Brentford, he left due to his chairman there not backing his ideas for taking the club forward.

{Ed001's Note - actually he left because the chairman wanted to use statistical data to do all the recruiting, whereas Warburton wanted to actually watch the players play as well. Bentham (the Brentford owner) wanted to use the club, like his Danish one, as a proving ground for his stats analysis company.}

12 Jun 2016 14:13:34
Cheers ed I knew he wasn't sacked.

{Ed001's Note - they actually parted on good terms, despite the disagreement.}

12 Jun 2016 11:47:49
I bumped into Alex Rae, buddies mgr, at petrol station earlier, a was fillin up ma corsa, him his Audi SUV, he was saying that the mighty gers are up for loanin him a rake o players next season, hardie, and a load o others, God news a think keeps hibs n unitedoccupied.

12 Jun 2016 12:30:24
The transfer window is never kicked off on this site without a petrol station sighting!

Hope its true, always liked Alex Rae.

12 Jun 2016 12:38:03
STUZO . I love the petrol station banter lol. You not bumped into kranjar there yet?

12 Jun 2016 12:59:01
Most of your football rumours begin at a petrol station mate.

12 Jun 2016 14:48:57
Stuzo mate get it was a petrol station in Paisley this time not the one in Perth, you get aboot so yeh day!

12 Jun 2016 16:39:14
For aw those doubters, it was the hart hill services, he was fillin up and me being a gallus numpty, a couldni resist a quick banter, kid you not, the guy was so enthusiastic about new season, am putting a few quid on the saints winnin that league they are 9-1 the noo so fill your boots lads.

12 Jun 2016 10:02:37
Why would warburton sign these players barton crooks windass share his vision with them sell the club to them then leave lol don't make no sense he's built trust up with players why would he risk his reputation and just leave the man is going nowhere he will sign a new deal with rangers he's having time off and had already agreed a new deal before he left he's not a money chaser he's loyal to his clubs.

12 Jun 2016 11:39:02
I don't think he would walk out on uz or his contract I don't think he's that type of guy if it's more money he wants I think he definitely deserves more for what he's done but we don't need to be held to ransom am sure it will be sorted out soon I'd love him to be here for years but these things happen if he sees out his contract that's good enough for me anything else is a bonus.

12 Jun 2016 13:35:03
With durrant going now hope the next guy the future manager help develop academy players n if manager goes he steps up we need to keep this new structure in place from now on.

12 Jun 2016 06:53:46
If warburton leaves I think we could see walter smith back with david weir one last time sir walter.

12 Jun 2016 09:24:08
Are you mad we play attractive expansive football now do you want to throw that all away. Walter is gone and if you like beautiful football then good riddence. Walter survived the first time through over spending millions and the second time when there was no one else. When we had the big players we couldn't do anything in Europe the second time when we got to the uefa cup final we played negative anti football let's move on in the same direction as Warburton but most importantly let's sort things out with the guy.

12 Jun 2016 09:24:40
No thanks.

12 Jun 2016 09:54:04
Walter Smith is history but while he has a remarkable record e is part of the past and should never return as manager. Quite simply King needs to sort out Warburton's contract or it is his credibility that will go. Our enemies across the City have had to dig deep to secure a quality manager because we have Warburton; what we don't want is to lose him and end up with a clown like McCoist or McDowall again that would undo all the good work!

Put simply, King needs to secure Warburton on a long term contract now or we need a new chairman!

12 Jun 2016 08:52:29
Where's all this drivel about MW leaving. The club are in talks about a new deal just because it has not been signed yet some daily rag is reporting he is leaving and mass hysteria breaks out. MW has started us on a road to glory and he is not about to walk away.

12 Jun 2016 09:23:31
Weir will go with Warburton. Warburton will see out his contract unless Spurs come in which is unlikely. Miller is being groomed as next manager.

12 Jun 2016 10:59:59
All I'm saying Gary is if warburton does leave then I'm afraid to say we won't have another manager who has us playing like warburton so I would like to see Davie weir take the reigns but with walter there to assist him. We don't exactly have the cash for a big name manager.

12 Jun 2016 11:35:05
Look none of the other tabloids have reported this and if there was any mileage in it bbc sport Scotland would have a field day between holidays etc talks may have been put on the back burner and if the one thing the board have proved theymeet things head on and it will be dealt with so less silly talk upwards and onwards.

12 Jun 2016 13:34:05
Lol absolute maniac, aye let's desert our attractive football for lumping it up the park and 4-5-1 have a word with yourself.

12 Jun 2016 16:37:12
The journalist is a no name hack trying to build a name for himself because, he has picked up that Warburton has not yet signed the contract offered to him. In general, senior managers and guys of quality do not take the first offer, they see it as the opening gambit in a wider negotiation. Warburton's position in the negotiations with King and Co has been strengthened by Celtic's appointment of Rodgers at a significantly higher salary for a manager that is untried in Scottish Football!

Warburton deserves a significant increase in his salary and in the process Rangers need to consider what they would need to pay for a replacement, (and that replacement is certainly not Walter Smith or any of the old school managers) .

King quite simply needs to pay the going rate to Warburton, no one wants to go back to the days of McCoist and McDowall!

12 Jun 2016 04:35:17
Really think we'll be seeing the lad Aucho at Ibrox nxt season, apparently they've signed Tiago da Silva and it takes them one over their foreigner rule, Also he's not returned for training! Not sure if he's just tryin to push through the move or he's a bit of a Wido! Anyways heard good things but not sure how much he'd cost if anything?

12 Jun 2016 02:24:36
Can I point out that the express also say Warburton has a year left on his contract?

I believe I'm right thinking he signed for three years.

Almost an attempt at a headline story, don't let any truth stop that now!

12 Jun 2016 09:56:39
The journalist that is credited with this story is a nobody! That said, King needs to ensure pretty quickly that a new contract is agreed and that we have the guy for the next five years or it will be yet another major question over King's credibility!
