Would any of use be happy with Nigel Pearson as our next manager. Out of a job at the moment. Done a good job at Leicester getting them into the EPL and then keeping them in it.

13 Feb 2017 22:45:11
Good shout mate. Pearson will definitely keep you up. Definitely. For sure. 😋

13 Feb 2017 22:21:30
What does fellow people think of the club looking for i director of football seems to suit frank de boer as this is what he had at ajax and to me this is the way forward works well at numerous clubs
the club has got to sort the scouting department asap to help new manager in summer this should be priorty

14 Feb 2017 11:28:35
To be fair mcleish in the now and deboer in the summer. I also have a funny feeling dave king will end up splashing sime cash be it his own or maybe the other board members, I can't see a new manager only using pennies warburton was happy to finish second but a new manager especially deboer will have even more expectations since he is a big name so to speak.

13 Feb 2017 20:51:36
HI ALL. I posted last week to get behind the manager. I look back know and think I was probably a bit to optimistic. It seems his own lack of personal experience caught up with him. The board were correct on getting rid but could and should have done it with more grace. Although could have been a warning shot to anyone else thinking they can piss Rangers about. Our squad is good enough for second all day long and there was a glimpse (more direct on occasion,2 up front etc) that on Sunday we can mix it up a bit to get a result. I would even go as far to say the players showed more fight to get the win. As for the next manager. I can remember the mcliesh times and I wasn't Impressed although I think he would galvanise the squad but not my preferred option long term. I really don't know who would be best out of the usual list supplied by the media. I'm just going to through a swerve ball into the mix. Before I say it I know it unlikely but his contract is up in the Summer and there fans are getting impatient. Arsene Wegner.

13 Feb 2017 22:20:06
We can secure second all day long as proven by struggling past Championship Morton who had no fit first team strikers (frightened to think what Quintongo would have done to Senderos)? You having a laugh. The squad are full of absolute dross and need a major overhaul. As for Wenger? He earns more than our match day squad combined.

13 Feb 2017 22:25:29
Can't see him managing another team after Arsenal tbh. He's definitely quality but those days are gone. Rather have Pep anyway but more chance of Pepe le Pew lol!

13 Feb 2017 23:21:58
I'd worry for Senderos if we got Wenger. We might end up losing him.

14 Feb 2017 03:27:03
That has to be one of the worst I've seen on here. Arsene Wenger. The 9 million a year would be no problem for us. Never mind the swerve ball I think a wrecking ball has hit your head.

13 Feb 2017 19:43:30
A think we should try and get Patrick viera

13 Feb 2017 20:02:32
We could certainly do with him in midfield!

13 Feb 2017 21:57:49
never shift halliday

14 Feb 2017 03:13:53
Archie30, thats not the worst suggestion i've ever heard mate! Patrick Vieira certainly has the big name to attract a higher calibre of player. He also has received good reviews about how good a relatively young coach he is, firstly with the man city unders and now out in america! Vieira would be ideal as a head coach working in tandem with a director of football! A sports journalist from holland has written an article tonight regarding rangers hoping to lure mark wotte as director of football with giovanni van bronckhurst as head coach! The journalist had reported that rangers wanted gio the now but he wants to see the season out as the feyenoord manager, where he hopes to win the dutch league title. I'd have mogli here in a minute! what's your thoughts on this fellow bears? I really do think however its far more beneficial to get the permanent manager/ head coach in NOW, so the new man can assess and see who he wants to keep and who he wants shot of. I don't think we can wait until the end of the season with europa league qualifiers coming up mid June! At least if he's in now he has a 4 month start instead of rushing things in a 2 wee week period in june!

13 Feb 2017 19:14:45
I see in more than one newspaper that King is now saying that £50 million in total will be needed over four years to get Rangers where he wants them to be. This seems to include £18 million already spent and he also states that he hopes to get some new investors. Another £32 million over four years sounds a lot but makes qualifying for Europe next season an imperative. Perhaps if Souness comes in as Director of Football Brian Kennedy might also come in with some of his cash?

13 Feb 2017 21:59:04
what makes you think they could work with king

13 Feb 2017 22:01:21
the more I think about it, the more I feel Tommy Wright would be a good choice. Solid, builds good teams with real fighting spirit and seems to be able to get the best out of his players ( compare MOH at St Johnstone to his time at Ibrox ) . He keeps a low profile which I really think we need just now. Just concentrates on the job in hand and gets the TEAM performing. I don't think he would be overawed by the challenge, and importantly would not look at the job as a stepping stone into the EPL.

13 Feb 2017 23:01:15
A manager who gets the best from his players is what we all want, Warburton was never that; look at how Dyche has Barton playing for Burnley and compare that to how we had him playing.

I would be happy with a manager who can get them motivated and playing for us.

13 Feb 2017 19:13:58
I just read a piece that says rangers fans and other football fans have been phoning up mark Warburton and firing abuse at him after his phone number was posted online. What the heck is wrong with these cretins. Leave the man be, as much as I'm pissed off that he tried to ditch us for Nottingham forest, he doesn't deserve that kind of treatment.
Sometimes I really am embarrassed by these so called rangers supporters.

13 Feb 2017 19:45:43
Don't taint the club by calling them supporters. they are thugs and morons. Same with those who abused Keirnan last wee.

These guys do more damage to our clubs reputation that any of Th Ashley, Easdale, Greens and Whytes

13 Feb 2017 19:09:13
Does anyone see big investment into our club from somewhere else or someone because if king has spent 18 million already were are we heading with team manager ect ect

13 Feb 2017 16:57:44
Sorry guys I am hearing all this McLeish, mcinnes, Davies stuff getting about. NOT ONE of these guys will be any better than warburton and won't attract a decent calibrate of player. We need a big name with the right attitude to take this great club forward, I keep saying it but we should be going for The likes of Rednapp, Holloway, Pardew, De Boer or Van Bronchurst. Surely these guys would be able to attract better players to the club. I will also throw in John Terry who is a born winner, could be a decent player manager.

13 Feb 2017 17:43:48
Agreed in theory. But how do you attract a higher caliber of manager (not sue Holoway fis in that category) with no money for bette playrs, a bang average squad and no prosept of Ashley disappearing anytime soon? Your example about JT is total unrealistic. Circa £500K-£75K (thats a guess) a year vs. £100K a week plus?

13 Feb 2017 20:18:25
yes agreed money talks but a club the size of Rangers can still attract a higher calibre of manager surely? On Holloway I think he is a brilliant manager who would light up our game in Scotland. He is one of the most passionate guys in football!

14 Feb 2017 01:12:45
Agree mate but Holloway seriously that's is funny Ha

14 Feb 2017 01:30:31
Holloway? Don't think so! Big name don't think so!

14 Feb 2017 02:13:15
Pardew Holloway and redknapp. I take back everything I said about Davies I would take him over they 3. Total imposters

14 Feb 2017 02:49:25
I just read that Mr King has said it may be an interm manager until the end of the season. Rangers is a massive job, so if the next manager is interm then I cannot see the person being high profile. How can you approach a high profile manager and say "get us second spot easily, try and win the scottish cup and try to get a win or two against celtic along the way, but, someone else is getting the managers job for next season".

13 Feb 2017 16:05:30
Get a man i'm now for next season let they clowns know they are playing for the futures at our club .

Guus Hiddink

Let me dream .

13 Feb 2017 14:08:22
Going by DK's quote in the Daily Rebel we will have an interim till end of season. My hopes are Ech till end of season then De boer.

13 Feb 2017 14:50:34
I will settle for anyone other than Davies, I don't want us to lower our standards to that level. At the end of the day we are Rangers and we must be mindful of that in any appointment made!

13 Feb 2017 14:52:47
Eck can do one. The guys incompetent as a manager and lacks intelligence!

13 Feb 2017 15:28:46
I reckon it'll be Murty till it's season book renewal time and then the board will start leaking big names to sell season books.

I have no issues with Murty till the end of the season. Why give someone else big wages for a few months then look for someone else? Would only waste funds and promote instability within the squad.

13 Feb 2017 16:29:51
Iwdawson totally agree. His interview was good and he actually made a substitution that felt like a change. With any luck he will give a couple of the 20's a chance as well.

13 Feb 2017 13:41:01
With the exception of the first 6 months Warburton was a total failure as manager. It became clear towards the end of last season that the job was too big for him. Many of his decisions prove he was out his depth. Here are a few facts and unanswered questions?
1)Amost every signing he made was a failure or did not live up to waearing the jersey. Very little re-sale value on any if his signings.

13 Feb 2017 13:35:19
Mcleish until the end of season will see us finish 2nd - but it won't be easy.
But that'll be based on pure old school tactics, grinding at 1-0's etc.

Now don't get me wrong Warburtons teams weren't capable of that this season so far but we are up and around that 2nd place area just now.

13 Feb 2017 15:26:34
I'd rather play good football and finish 3rd than play head tennis for 2nd. Plus, we can't play a physical game with Hyndman, Holt and the rest so why not play just continue trying to play football?

13 Feb 2017 20:35:13
Hopefully we do not go back to the old dull defensive stuff we witnessed under smith and Mcleish, our defense has been shocking but some of our passing play was great to watch, I'm sad it never worked out for MW but the club moves on and hopefully we can get the next management appointment right that can play a blend of football that can keep the back door closed.

13 Feb 2017 12:58:38
Why are so many people wanting Barry Ferguson involved in our management
Don't get me wrong I loved him as a player but have we not learnt anything from past experiences
His team are sixth in the bottom tier of Scottish football
This appointment needs to be strong and be able to move us forward.

13 Feb 2017 15:19:42
I agree with what u say in regards to him being manager, however, I wouldn't say having him involved would be an issue. As a captain his no nonsense approach worked and if he brought that as a no2 then I'd b happy as a few backsides r needing kicked in playing dept

13 Feb 2017 15:30:48
I wouldn't have a problem with him coming in as a coach at under 21 level or something like that to see how he is but its too much of a gamble to put him with the first team.
We need someone proven and strong if we are to move forward and challenge.
Backsides need to be kicked on and off the park and I don't see it happening.
Halliday shows passion but he' in no position to be having a dig at anyone when he's giving away possession as much as he is.
In my opinion he should never be played in the position he is as he's much more suited to further forward
I don't think he's that bad a player I just think he's bad at the position he plays.
I think centre half and holding midfield are huge problems for us and need sorted

14 Feb 2017 00:41:46
Let's not forget that he has a part time team who train only twice a week that's 4hours training a week when his players can get off work, he is doing a good job at Clyde with what little resources they have, he will be a decent manager I think, maybe in a few year after he has earned his stripes, his team are still fighting for playoff spot and chance to get to 1/ 4 final of Scottish cup that's not to bad for a young manager starting out

13 Feb 2017 12:26:47
De Boer was 27 points behind PSV when Ajax let him go. He then moved to Inter and won 6 games and was let go after 3 months. Be careful what you wish for - he would want a significant transfer kitty

13 Feb 2017 12:52:58
Eldersliebear, Ajax finished 5 points off Feyenoord when De Boer left. 2014/ 15 he finished a massive 17 points behind PSV, but then again PSV had an incredible season, only losing 4 games and drawing just one. Inter was a difficult one, he had to adapt to the league, he genuinely needed time which he didn't get. De boer could be a very good manager at Rangers. Also Ajax never let him go, he left Ajax.

13 Feb 2017 12:56:08
Sorry not behind Feyenoord. a mere 2 points behind PSV. so not exactly a bad season.

13 Feb 2017 12:58:20
Also won 4 titles in a row first manger in Eredivisie to do so. it was 17 points and ajax didn't sack him he left. Time at inter wasn't great but you can't sack someone 3 months into a job. Every manager goes through tough times and things don't work out.

13 Feb 2017 23:46:48
lets get real for a second whoever comes in will want a transfer kitty so they can at least compete with celtic as if they don't get close to celtic they will be chased from the ibrox hot seat

13 Feb 2017 10:38:07
If board were informed last Monday that management team wished to resign you would like to think about replacement isn't far away since it has been a week now.

13 Feb 2017 11:31:50
And you would have though they might have informed Graeme Murty before Friday night and let him have a bit more time to prepare the team before an important cup tie.

13 Feb 2017 13:07:14
Your rite naz that's how I think it's going to get messy with court case. I've no sympathy for mw or dw they were working there ticket but if they resigned on mon Murty should have taken charge on the wed at least you would have thought.

13 Feb 2017 23:49:38
yes but i also thin that they should be prepared in any case as they knew they weren't going to fund warbs and knew they would be looking for a new management team at the edn of the season so surely they have an idea of who and let's hope its not mcliesh.

if we can i'd like to steal mcinnes away from the sheep

13 Feb 2017 09:50:58
Wouldn't mind Big Eck in until end of the season to steady the ship with Kenny Miller as his no.2 then get Frank de Boer in the summer. If we can get Rossiter (if he is ever going to be fit) and Kranjcar back playing soon that should add grit and class to the midfield.

13 Feb 2017 22:43:07
late april for niko I've heard and rossiter is a good player just hope that he gets back to fitness soon as we need our best players availible

13 Feb 2017 09:24:37
2 posts in one here.
First the 18 million Dave King has spent? I think would have been on purchasing additional shares to try and out Ashwipe plus IMO ( softloans) both if which could be gained back if share price rises or somebody buys over the club.
So potential not my gone for ever as made out
Second why not bring back wee Stuart MaCall?
Rangers thro and thro and again IMO did more with the crap he had at his disposal than Ally?
Douneranger.

13 Feb 2017 22:45:40
id prefer mccall to mcliesh any day of the week as mcliesh only did so well with us as he inherited a great team off of advocat and by the time he left they where a an ok team.
then in his career from then on he has had no success

13 Feb 2017 09:19:11
Not sure who I want as manager but we must get Barry Ferguson in as assistant.

Also Charlie Adam out of contract end of the season, on £35000 a week so might be out our range but he is exactly the type of midfielder we need. Any ideas on a cheaper option?

13 Feb 2017 11:59:38
As much as i love barry, can you tell me what he has done in mamagement that you think he deserves to be no2? Smacks of a mccoist esque appointment - legend of the club but doesn't seam the sharpest tool in the box that can run a club like rangers as a manager

13 Feb 2017 22:47:47
id like barry to come in aswell as he will for sure fire the boys up for the games.
alex can get to f*ck i'd prefer murty than him every day of the week

14 Feb 2017 00:16:20
thats why people are saying have him as no 2 mate not our manager he should learn the reigns here and maybe a good manager for us in the future .

barry as no.2 would bring passion back to the team his love for the club and his passion for rangers where soo effective when he was a player and he can get the players fighting for every ball and under the tactical knowhow of a manager with experience that could be a very effective team.

but not mcliesh

13 Feb 2017 08:34:29
The next manager has to be big Eck. Was dying to admit on Sky Sports he will say yes. Looked buzzing to possibly return. Won trophies and did a treble. Was a neighbour of mine and know he cares deeply about club. c'mon Eck get in and sort these players out. this season is gone but next season starts today. As Marvin said keep believing. Any thoughts on Barry in for some coaching roles? Assistant?

13 Feb 2017 09:26:31
He won trophies with a decent size transfer budget and brought in international players who were paid well. Those days seem a long way away

13 Feb 2017 15:22:36
@jjkgers4life - considering he's not got a job at the minute I bet he's desperate for the role. In my opinion him and Barry are totally wrong for the job. What do they bring apart from being ' Rangers Men '. Sorry next appointment has to be on ability.

13 Feb 2017 22:57:13
big eck is a flop that got lucky with the squad he was left by advocat one of our most expensive sides in our history with debours and arthur numands the list goes on and he won't have that this time so no to big eck for me

13 Feb 2017 08:25:17
I can see only one candidate in this hole thing. Yes McLeish has done it but he done it with money, De Boer will need money aswell. Until MA is away this is all about getting the boat steady. I say Tommy Wright proven working with a team and not having to spend money. We need a manager who can work with what we have not moan he isn't getting the millions that aren't there. My vote is for Tommy Wright everyday of the week.

14 Feb 2017 03:27:44
I disagree that big eck did it with money. I struggle to think of French players that have been even half decent in scotland and that was market eck largely shopped in. A lot of his signings were poor but he turned around a vastly under performing advocaat team. Warbutton was a 3 yr old buying football manager for 1st time.

Tactically niave. current squad nowhere near level it was at when eck took over b4 but its substantially better than what mw got out of them. He isn't good in transfer market but eck wld do till end season

13 Feb 2017 05:45:21
Please not de boer have said in a few posts that if he comes in nothing will change same 4-3-3 wich doesent work for us

13 Feb 2017 07:25:56
Would work with a good dm and a better defence like it does with all the other teams that play the same formation

13 Feb 2017 07:59:42
I agree Bdg

13 Feb 2017 08:30:08
Warburtons 4-3-3 didn't work. De Boer could easily take our team and turn it right around.

13 Feb 2017 08:37:28
4 leagues in a row at Ajax
Ready made scout network
Plays youth if they are good enough
Would FINALY sort the youth system

We would be lucky to get them

13 Feb 2017 10:11:40
The one thing I will hand to Warburton is he fixed our youth and bought a few youth players so we do have some talent that will come through in the next 2 seasons or so. De Boer promotes youth, which would suit us nicely, he also has an eye for a bargain, yes during his time at Ajax he bought expensive players (£2-5mil Per Player) but he did pick up quite a few good players on the cheap, Schone and Onana for example. Yes he would cost a fair whack but I reckon it would be worth it.

13 Feb 2017 23:02:38
de bour would work and its not the formation 4-3-3 that doesn't work its more to do with how the play it our team right now like to pass the ball to our defenders which is inviting pressure instead of looking for the forward pass as we did last year.

people say we played that well last years because it was championship but i don't agree i think warbs had us playing a great style of football and if we managed to get that back we would be a lot closer to the unwashed.

but we have went backwards and we need a manager like debour to recognise we aren't staeady at the back a smart guy that will probably build from the back as he is not a dumbass

13 Feb 2017 05:05:25
the McLeish knockers should take a reality check he won 7 honours for goodness sake. he is the man, been there done it. A no brainer.
He would be my choice a self confessed Rangers man, He would def. steady the ship in my opinion,
here`s hoping.

13 Feb 2017 08:03:34
Im all for big eck aswell, forget his failures elsewere. he knows what it takes to b Rangers manager, he won 7 honours and a treble amongst that against the best selik team in 40yr. and he would b more expeirinced aswell

13 Feb 2017 08:38:00
The football was brutal.

13 Feb 2017 08:44:15
Lost 7 or 8 old firm games in a row

13 Feb 2017 08:47:13
@blue bear - he's done nothing since 2012 at any of the clubs he's been at to justify your blind faith in him just because he's a ' Rangers ' man. I'd prefer someone to get appointed on ability.

13 Feb 2017 23:05:02
naw just naw to big eck said it already but big eck came into a great team and left us with a mediocre one that couldn't attack. then he went on elsehwere to be a provan failure so naw we don't need to get a grip as he won titles with a lot more money and a much better team he can't build a team

13 Feb 2017 02:18:03
For me it's a no brainier what should be done

Big eck and Rae in till end of the season too get some fire in the belly of the player and have frank set up too come in right at the end this would give him time too look for players too bring in obviously he will have been told what money he had too work with I'm sure he will know of some Dutch gems that we can bring to ibrox instead of any the British based managers that would shop in the same English league 1 and 2 market warburton a has shopped in.

Even if it's not frank it's got to be a manager with some pull outside Scotland and lower English leagues.

But no matter who we bring in short term or long term they need the fans backing as do the players.

Don't forget

We Are The People!

13 Feb 2017 23:33:55
we nned a debour or a gio
but for me there would have to be money to spend.

people are saying our players aren't good enough i think we have a good team but need better in 4 positions two centre backs and a cdm

13 Feb 2017 01:48:46
I would also like to share an idea re the boycott of ashley. If someone could print up or make a badge. That would cost you the price of a gers strip. This would be handed to any manager as a transfer fund. This way the gers would retain a 100% of the shirt sales. I for one would buy one those badges and show that scum ashley true fan power.

13 Feb 2017 23:06:48
got to say i like that idea but isn't there already tops we can buy that do the same thing

13 Feb 2017 01:37:24
I wish that people would get off of dk back and keep throwing up this 30 million. Ok king pumps his 30 million into the club in one season. What happens to the club if it doesn't work and we still don't get champ league. Oh i'm sure that there is a long line of investors waiting in the wings ready to pump another thirty million into the club. King has backed mw and dw by allowing and funding 13 signings in plus youth signings. Nearly all major work to the stadium and murray have been carried out. He had started to reintroduce scouting system all this with no merchandise money or european money and we are prob at the lower tier of tv money from sfa being newly promoted. If these fans that want instand success have their way. We will be bust again in 2 years. Celtic have had 5 years to build up their finances in the years that they never qualified for champ league they managed to sell a player for 4 plus million they have also been cherry picking all the best in scottish football and have a vast and well run scouting system as much as it pains me to say. The only way that the gers will get near to the unclean is if a major investor pumps about between 50 and 60 million into the club then about between 5 and 10 million every season and who will do that in scottish football. So let's be thankful that we have king and the current board who will chip away at celtic and attempt to close the gap.

13 Feb 2017 23:12:07
we are not 50 - 60 million behind the unwashed mate a first team investment of 10 million would get us the players needed to challange them and be miles ahead of the rest but i do agree king is trying everything he can to get us back to where we belong and the uneducated fans we have can't see he has both hands tied behind his back at the moment in reguards to merchandise and european football money.

and the uneducated that thought the 30 miilion was for players should start reading what he says he knew a lot of the money would be going to auchenhowie and a lot into stadium
