A wee debate here guys about why barrie mckay should have been selected for the scotland senior team way before john mcginn of hibs, as far as I'm concerned there isn't a thing that mcginn can do better than mckay, ie. mckay has by far the better first touch (arguably the best first touch at rangers) , mckay is easily faster, he has much more assists, glides past defenders with much more ease, so for the life of me I can't understand strachan's logic in picking mcginn and not mckay, barrie mckay has thus far had a brilliant season for us and will without question be well in the running for the rangers player of the year and the young player of the year this also goes for the scottish championship young player and player of the year.

For me warb15, he's come on to a game. I was one of his biggest critics but to be fair he has shut me up. He was outstanding against dundee. I think he plays much better on the right wing and would like to see him play more on the right. But I agree he's a lot better than mcginn who should be nowhere near the scotland team.

Mcginns a centre midfielder and mckays a winger can't compare.

Cee mckay can also play the no.10 attacking mid role mate, in the hole behind the main striker if you like, to be perfectly honest I really do think mckay can play anywhere along the attacking mid or forward line so to an extent you can judge him against mcginn.

Strachan said he watched Mcginn play well in November and unless anything has changed since then he is worth the call up?

I am no manager or expert but I think things can change a fair bit in 4 months?

Also, I am not so naive to think he hasn't done a fair bit of scout work before selection but to say that sounds daft to me?

It's a shame none of our lads were chosen but it also keeps them fresh for the important games ahead.

The point I was trying to make cee was about level of quality. I'm well aware that they play different positions.

Strachan said he didn't pick Lee because he knows what he can do, that is fair enough, but he should be looking at the players who will be involved in the World Cup qualifiers and start building a team for that, and that's where I think he is wrong not picking wee Barrie, even if he only gets a half hour run out, it is the international experience .
I will start getting very worried about him when we are back in the SPL and he doesn't pick any of our players . !

Ive said on a previous post that we should've been using younger players through the squad we wouldn't achieve anything playing old school players or half the green team, let's bring in guys like mackay cummings henderson McCormack rhodes give them a pop, mcginn went through a purple patch then went flat hate saying it but i really rate the boy henderson and would love to see him and barry get a shot, surely we can't keep picking players who know won't lose there shirt, plenty of good young scottish talent to pick from and these are the games we have to use them.

The one thing I can see is its still an us and them mentality Scottish football hates us there is no getting away from it our players don't just need to be knocking on the door they need to kick it in and ragdoll anyone in the way. They can't say it's because of the fact we aren't in the top league as they are going to a team third in the second tier there are Falkirk players who have played better than those in the hibs side. Nailing his colours to the mast by making some wee boy from celtic number one choice for left back instead of Wallace us an outrage but we have to expect it. Lawell has John park pick the players instead of dilia I wouldn't be surprised that him and his sfa board cronies in mutual hatred of rangers have an unwritten rule that our players are a last resort or to be completely overlooked until we are glaringly obvious choices in champions of Scotland but even then if there is someone else play them. this isn't new tosh mckinley played ahead of davie Robertson even when he wasn't playing for celtic, anyone got a shout before Ian ferguson who when on his game was the best player at our club from the end of the 80's and early 90's, the great davie Cooper only got 20 odd caps the sfa are run by the same chairmen in the league that blames their own failure on our success and this has caused the league football and international football to suffer, I love Scotland but I can safely say I hate the sfa they know nothing about football they just want to make themselves celebrities all of the are the same from Peter Lawell to the les grays, and turnbull Hutton they want fame look at the alloa chairman on TV when they took their pitch in I thought it was Alex ciderson from Burnistoun they are an embarrassment to themselves and this country they have too much to say when it comes to rangers they need to concentrate on their own club because we are coming to pump them all next season but as long as wee Chesney is picking with his anti rangers friends then Scotland will suffer.

I for one don't think Barrie McKay has done enough for a call up. Fair enough strachan shouldve picked wallace or shinnie before tierney in my opinion but Barrie McKay is further off than other options Scotland have.

John McGinn, bossed off Jackson Irvine yesterday proved that Strachan hasn't got a clue and is overhyping the guy.

I think Barrie is playing well, confident and can progress, just hate getting carried away.

FYI Greg Stewart has a better record than McKay, he wasnt even mentioned for scotland.

Why not leave the paranoia to Celtic fans Gary. I disagreed largely with Strachan on his recent squad selection but to suggest Lawwell etc are helping him pick the squad is just ludicrous.

And Turnbull Hutton died last year incidentally so is hardly calling shots at the SFA.

James Morrison is not staying at West Brom after his current contract I think we should go for him his wages may be high at the moment but he has made his money and at 31 this is the chance to play for the club he supports plus this is his best chance of European football he would bring experience and class that we want for winning the league next year we will be in it to win it nothing less and he would definitely help that become realised.

He's 29 gary75 I'd take him tomorrow but I think it's highly unlikely he would take a pay cut from 48 grand a week to what we would be offering. I'd doubt we would be offering over 10 grand a week to players so what's the chances of a player taking a 40grand a week paycut.

Thing is a player out of contract is earning zero £s per week. So 10k a week is a rise on zero.
