A lot of conflicting opinions on here now, about whether graeme murty should get the rangers manager's job, beyond this season! ED, would you be so kind to run a poll for our fans on here just to gauge how split they are over murty getting the permanent gig, or not for that matter! The poll should be should graeme murty be the permanent rangers manager, beyond this season, or should someone else be appointed? Cheers ED!

Murty or Someone Else Poll

14 Mar 2018 12:03:09
Frank Deboer is wanting the Rangers Job, imo we should give him the Job with a Scottish / British Rangers man as his assistant, the players see Murty as a pal and not as a Boss we need somebody who won't be afraid to make strong decisions and the right decisions.

14 Mar 2018 14:30:11
DeBoer's got a good name, but his record is awful as a manager. I was keen for him before we got Pedro, but right now I'd 100% rather we keep going with Murty. What he's done in a very short period of time is tremendous and should merit our full support. If everyone gets behind this guy and gives him every bit of our fantastic fans support, he'll do the rest!

14 Mar 2018 16:12:27
Murty will 100% be given the job in the summer so there is no point in even talking about this really.

13 Mar 2018 20:26:27
I wish people would stop blaming Murty for Sunday’s failures . He was extremely unlucky with Martin unable to be included in the squad then unlucky again when bates got injured, this resulted in him having to play 2 Centre halves that everyone knows isn’t good enough . If Morelos had taken his chance prior to Celtics third we would have won the game and everyone would be giving Murty a pat in the back. Mistakes cost us and we will learn . This is the closest we have been for a number of years and we are all naturally disappointed- remember were we were in the December. Murty has worked wonders and we should be applauding. A couple of decent central defenders in the summer will sort our issues at the back and we have quality midfielders and the club captain to come back . Celtic got lucky at the weekend and they know it - follow follow

13 Mar 2018 20:57:30
Celtic got lucky? How do you work that out? They played 30 mins with 10 men and still won. Also how is a guy with 94 caps for Portugal not good enough? Our team isn’t exactly full of players like that. I actually thought he played well enough

13 Mar 2018 22:53:19
Got lucky in terms of rangers not being able to play strongest 11 . It has been obvious for some time alves I isn’t good enough and the second goal illustrates this. If bates and Martin had been fit alves would have been nowhere near the starting 11. Arthurd - the width of the post was all that was between the teams on Sunday, over the last few years it’s been the length of the mate. Fingers crossed bates and Martin will be back for semi final.

13 Mar 2018 23:17:47
Agree about Alves. I thought he played well. I also thought we were very unlucky. Morelos was inside prior to their second, his shot that Bain saved took a slight Nick of the defender's leg allowing him to make the save. With Rogic"s shot the opposite happened. The Nick off Bates took the ball even wider. Not only that but Bates was badly injured at the same time.

Then Morelos hits the inside of the post. A matter of 2 inches to the right would have given us a deserved equaliser. Our luck must surely change soon. Those criticising Murty should get a grip. With just a little luck we would have won the game. How many of you would have thought this possible following the havoc the previous manager wreaked upon us?

13 Mar 2018 23:41:14
You could say they got away with one with Morelos' two chances.

But at the end of the day they took their one chance and we didn’t take ours when the opportunity came.

The defenders gifted Eduard the chance at goal, but at the same time their defence also gifted us chances which we failed to capitalise on.

Looking forwards - basically summed up it’s fine margins!

We are getting better, remember this is a season where we have sacked a disaster of an appointment and given the job to our development coach until the end of the season and we are now giving Celtic a good go at it, pulling away from Aberdeen etc. We are doing pretty well considering the season we’ve had (progres anyone? ) .

We are moving finally moving forward.

13 Mar 2018 23:58:48
Hampden hospitality if you want to pay for that.

14 Mar 2018 10:51:18
i get we had a few players out but let's not forget they turned us over with their 3rd choice GK who hadnt played in about 6 months. they were also missing probably their best winger in roberts along with their first choice RB and top scorer and they won playing about 35 mins with 10 men. so fair enough use players missing as an excuse but both teams did.

nothing alters the fact that we never really looked comfortable in the game and despite many thinking we are so close we are just as far as ever from beating them. i think that's now 12 games since we managed to beat them and they now have 4 wins in a row at our home.

i can't see anything changing anytime soon neither

14 Mar 2018 10:53:44
bearmode91 i wouldn't really say we are pulling away from aberdeen. if they win their game in hand its only a 2 point difference and we still have to play aberdeen and hibs plus possibly killie twice as well as celtic away.

if we are not careful hibs could easily sneak up on us before we realise it and end up 4th.

im certain we will finish 2nd but its by no means done and dusted not by a long shot

13 Mar 2018 19:02:26
Hello fellow bears. Looking for somebody to point me in the right direction. My son turns 18 in April and would love to go to an old firm game. I'm going to try the impossible and see if I can somehow find a couple tickets to semi. Any tips? Thanks

13 Mar 2018 19:48:18
Join a facebook page called available ibrox tickets. You may be stretching your luck as cup semi tickets will be gold dust mate.

13 Mar 2018 20:39:36
Cheers chris. I know the is zero chance but worth a shot.

13 Mar 2018 17:22:42
This is my worry. If Murty is binned who is the alternative? . We've already agreed we need a Scottish or at a push English manager and not foreigner but that narrows our options significantly. The only English manager getting close to availability is that bum Pardew.

13 Mar 2018 17:38:09
Potter and Reid?

13 Mar 2018 18:20:59
Neil warnock

13 Mar 2018 18:32:28
Hope Murty stays but he needs guided at times. Maybe Alex Ferguson and Walter could be called from dugout lol. I think he's right for the job. Players performances have vastly improved along with results.

13 Mar 2018 18:41:09
No need to worry about any of them becoming the new rangers manager! The new rangers manager beyond this season 100%, will be graeme murty and most definitely, the correct choice!

13 Mar 2018 20:01:54
Its graeme murty's first job In management and what a first job it is, being the manager of glasgow rangers! Murty is a young manager who will learn as he goes along! I can only see, graeme murty getting better and better with more experience! If our board don't give him the manager's job permanently, at the end of the season, then i have no doubt that another club will benefit greatly, by having murty as their manager! Don't make a mistake board of directors! Let us benefit from having murty as our 17th permanent manager! Of course murty has made small mistakes since he's became our manager but all young managers, go through this and learn with the experience from it! Even sir alex ferguson and sir walter smith made mistakes especially when starting out in management! You just have to look how successful they turned out to be! So common bears cut murty some slack here, he'll go on, imo to be a terrific manager for us in every way! I certainly see that in murts!

13 Mar 2018 20:33:44
Let’s see how Murty performs in the remainder of the season. If we go on a run now and lift the cup totally agree Murty and Nicholl should get job on permanent basis.

13 Mar 2018 20:42:11
Give murty a break I think he could be great for us as he has improved the team big time, remember he has not got Mitch experience as well. bit like a good young prospect give him time

13 Mar 2018 20:58:41
Supercooper, why is he the right choice? we're Glasgow rangers, we have been through one of the hardest periods of our history. we need to stop Celtic doing ten in a row, it's a must, so why should we trust our u20 coach to stop them? were you at the hibs and Celtic games? if you had your way we would still have warburton, I'm still hurting from Sunday and it ain't getting any better.

13 Mar 2018 20:58:21
Stevie Clark or Frank De Boer?

13 Mar 2018 20:59:05
Supercoop

You did say the same about Warburton though

13 Mar 2018 22:54:23
Graeme murty has impressed in the short term and at the very least deserves the chance to take us forward! Walter struth, i'll turn the question around on you! Why is graeme murty the WRONG choice as our next permanent manager? With another couple of transfer windows under murty, i honestly think we'd improve much more again! Going by murty's only transfer window as our manager, to date, we have to be very optimistic! Been impressed by his january signings! What's NOT to like here guys? Forget all this total shite that he's not a big name and all the other stuff!

14 Mar 2018 08:30:05
I keep hearing from within Ibrox Warnock will be the new manager

14 Mar 2018 11:00:46
@supercoopereleven you ask why is murty the wrong choice. i don't know if he is the right or wrong choice however one of his biggest downfalls will be his tactical ineptitude. his reluctance to make changes that can really have an impact on a game and change the outcome. that coupled with his dreadful defeats to some of the lesser teams in the league and the home record could well be enough.

ive read some defending murty saying he waits so late to make changes as he's showing faith in his players. for me that's wrong and is showing favouritism to an extent. numerous games I've seen the likes of windass especially being absolutely non existent and yet he's the one player you know will very rarely be taken off.

of course their are positives as well but for me neither outweighs the other and i think given time murty will become a bang average manager for us. not good enough to beat them on a regular basis nor win the league but easily win 2nd place

14 Mar 2018 11:35:30
Rabc10000, I watched Walter smith doing the same thing as murty,
ie. waiting too long or 'till a certain time to make substitutions! You're not telling me that you think sir Walter smith wasn't a tremendous manager for us, are you?

Murty is still inexperienced and will only improve and get better and better in my eyes mate! I only hope that's with us! Otherwise some other club will get the benefit of murty, who will be imho, a very good manager! I like everything about murty! He epitomises for me, that the rangers manager's job is tailor made for him, in every way!

14 Mar 2018 12:22:25
cant really compare both managers as they are totally different eras and when walter was manager most subs back then were really about adding freshness for the last 20 mins.

roll on to this day and age and a tactically astute manager can get weaker or lesser teams competing and winning games they probably shouldn't be. leicester was a prime example when they won the league. however i don't think murty has the ability to spot the glaringly obvious and change things to suit whether that's thru his own inability or down to having his preferred players playing no one knows. genuinely love to see murty being mentioned in the same sentence in 15-20 years time as one of the all time managerial greats but genuinely can't see it myself. firmly believe if we lose the semi and 12-15 points behind them then he hasn't justified staying in the job.

even the defeats to sy johnstone, hamilton and dundee are games which any rangers team should be winning, and we done so under warburton and pedro mainly would have made the league table look completely different and to drop 22 odd points at home is dreadful. for every good result there has been at the very least 1 bad result to even it out and even now we still can't win more than 4 league games in a row

13 Mar 2018 16:37:17
Stop giving Rossiter agenda in side because ain't and never will be fit again so is not an option.

13 Mar 2018 18:36:16
Well said Millerbrandwilson. He will never stay fit at us for whatever reason. 10k a week is 520k a year. What return have we had? Nowt.

13 Mar 2018 10:12:53
Just to reiterate what others have talked about on here about that game, fact is Murty is still inexperienced in this job, he must know he made tactical mistakes, the key thing is can he learn from them in the next cup game, more important now, if he is shown he hasn't then points have to be raised on whether we become also-ranks like the bottle merchant McInnes and the sheepshaggers or be champion material under someone else. who that would be is another question.

13 Mar 2018 12:08:32
Murty is learning on the job. Let's remember he has zero experience. Hopefully he will understand that changes need to be made depending on changes in the game. ie red cards, injuries, formations. Pretty sure he will be gutted about result after how we played. The hard work starts this weekend. How will we bounce back.

13 Mar 2018 14:17:23
Wonderful to see all tickets sold and another full house on Saturday against Kilmarnock. Let’s really get behind the Murty, Nicholl and the players. Follow Follow

13 Mar 2018 15:04:31
Soundless never bossed prior to coming to Rangers.

13 Mar 2018 15:21:22
Guys, Rangers are a million miles further on than under MW or PC. PC had us taking Caravans and Dogs Barking. GM has built spirit and togetherness in this team
Rangers still need significant investment in the summer
Another 4/5 top players. The defence need to be priority number 1 and perhaps GK
Hopefully we can beat them in the semi.

13 Mar 2018 15:22:47
What’s jimmy Nichols role then? Asset manager, everybody looking for a fall guy and Murty is always going to get the he’s a "under 20 coach"
Get behind the guy remember he was dropped in it due to our boards inability to appoint someone.

13 Mar 2018 23:01:28
DVT1200. Please tell me Soundless is predictive txt and u r not taking the piss out of Graeme Souness. I think I would rather somebody slagged my mum than slagged Souness.

13 Mar 2018 09:57:46
Lets all say what needs to be said. That looked like an old firm game. Which is what we all want to see. As soon as windass put the goal away (which was not a bad finish), i thought oh no. but Celtic just simply have better players. Even with a boyota doing mad stuff we won. But during that game i never thought we would pump you. Moraeles. everytime he got the ball he was badgering our defence, think at one point he nutmegged one of our players (might be wrong) . Last year no contest, this year a contest but class shone through. I hope Rangers and Celtic are at full strength for the semi, so the old bf butterflies come back. Didn't think Rangers were pish, but glad a few of the vocal got shut down. but the shoe on the other foot would i be any different. probably no. Its football guys! .

13 Mar 2018 10:33:33
Refreshing to see a respectful post about the footballing side of things Bribhoy.

I'll not lie, I've only just calmed down today, was such a sore one to take, but the reason it was so hard to take is because like you said, for a change it was a contest, it could have went either way.

I feel the result ultimately came down to Celtic's experience, your manager knew what to do when you needed to hang in their, made the changes at the right time, our manager has done fantastically well but he's still learning and didn't change it at the right time. Still managed so much more in his 3 Old Firm games than the last two managers.

Looking forward to the semi final.

13 Mar 2018 13:27:07
Totally agree with Brib and BearMode, a great close game with small margins making the difference, the way it should be. Brenda got his tactics spot on when down to 10 men, and I'm sure Murty has learned from this and will make us stronger again.

13 Mar 2018 17:20:33
bribhoy, why did your old boy friends butterflies come back?

13 Mar 2018 09:18:17

Review Of The Day 13th March 2018

13 Mar 2018 05:57:14
{Ed's Note - Tris Burke has posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 13th March 2018

13 Mar 2018 02:39:49
Joey Barton branding Scottish football as Sunday League standard.

That's funny because Hamilton Accies ripped the arse out him first game at Ibrox and a former Hamilton Accies player in a 21 year old Docherty managed a better fight against Scott Brown than he did in his pitiful performance in his Old Firm debut.

I'm personally embarrassed a mug like him got the chance to pull on the royal blue.

13 Mar 2018 08:19:46
He only played a handful of games for the club so it’s harsh to judge him on that. There were plenty of other worst performances in that game than Barton’s and he has to leave the club after only telling the truth about how bad the team were. He was proven right as Warburton didn’t last the season and the team were rotten

13 Mar 2018 09:16:42
I get your point definitely Arthur, but when you claim you are going to run the league and nobody will get close to you etc, you don't really get a run of games to settle in haha.

13 Mar 2018 14:19:42
Joey Barton is a banker and should never have been allowed anywhere near our great club.

13 Mar 2018 16:19:13
BearMode

That’s just Barton though he was saying things like that long before he was at Rangers. I didn’t think he was that bad in the old firm game as there were others who were worse. As for the argument that ended up in him leaving he was spot on. Warburton couldn’t face the truth
