Great To see young Barjonas get more game time today, thought he looked good and seems to have a great attitude. Was expecting the boy Burt to have featured more recently, anybody if he is injured or anything?

14 May 2017 00:17:35
You may as well post about getting Messi and Ronaldo as we have the same chance of getting them as we do Defoe and Crouch

14 May 2017 07:56:15
we need a whole new spine am afraid fellow bears as quality of player we have is pretty average.

3 strong aggressive cntr backs and cple dynamic ball winning cntr mids (hopefully to add to a fit rossiter) will allow us to compete and control games.

holt too lightweight nikko too slow halliday too hesitant bates gives ball away far too often and hodson just ain't good enough. don't get me started on waggy kiernan or moh.

most of all we need a top drawer finnisher. miller and garner will get goals in SPL but we need a go to 20+ goal a season natural finnisher of quality

shoot me down but i'd take cummings

14 May 2017 15:56:16
I am sure everyone see this El Minto, only time will tell whether the Board is brave enough to make it happen.

Sadly, with King in charge I doubt it!

13 May 2017 20:45:01
Well I've listened to some nonsense today! Another day we would have won by 3/ 4! Give pedro a chance he is working with what he has at present! For me we are 3/ 4 players away from a solid side! Garner was good today looked like he wanted a nippy wee poacher around him! We are short of a leader at center half and and midfield boss get those singings right and were not far away.

13 May 2017 21:42:51
Would agree although I reckon that we are a minimum of four and probably five players short if we want to challenge for the top slot and definitely secure second. We need at least one, but more likely two centre backs and they need to be top drawer. We need two central midfield players, one of them a holding mid., and an assassin!

We also need a good strong centre forward and if we can't a quality winger then McKay can be deployed inside.

I guess, if he doesn't go to Notts Forrest then Tavernier could play right wing but then we would need to sign a quality right back, (because Hodson is not good enough) .

13 May 2017 21:51:05
I agree with most of your comments but I'm unsure on Pedro, Murty totally changed the same team to get results but Pedro has taken us a step back with his formations and subs, miller should be up front every week not picking up every other tits pieces, McKay has ability but doesn't have defenders worried,
If we had appointed a local manager that had some knowledge and better tactics we would have been happier bears

13 May 2017 23:56:25
Try at least 8 players for a solid side

13 May 2017 23:59:56
Guys wilson is a player we need one solid ball winner at center half that's our basis we must build from there

14 May 2017 00:15:16
A local manager? Who, like Macleish, that was a disaster when he lost the quality players, or McInnes, who has had five years to take on Celtic and has failed. Celtic has set the Bar at the level for all other Clubs with the appointment of Rogers, so that is the level that we should be aiming for if we are serious about competing with them.

Do I see Pedro at that level, probably not!, but I doubt we would have been able to secure the services of one of the top ten managers in the EPL, or a top manager from Europe so from the contenders that applied it looks like the Board, for their own reasons went for Pedro.

The guy does appear to be a winner, he does appear to be totally committed to the cause and I just hope that he has the contacts to be able to bring in five or six quality players with minimum financial outlay because I doubt there will be much money for him to seriously compete i the transfer market.

Whether he is successful or not only time will tell but we need to gauge his success based on the resources he has at his disposal and right now the vast majority of what he has in the first team are not fit for purpose!

At the end of the day, it is down to him to find the players that are committed but there is no guarantee that he will secure the quality needed without serious investment.

13 May 2017 20:08:35
McKay needs to toughen up. he doesn't jump for a header or put a tackle in he let's people just run past him.

13 May 2017 20:49:04
Whilst I agree! We should be playing the ball on the deck and bossing games not lumping high balls! Imo he looked more interested today

13 May 2017 21:14:53
Ace I agree with you. McKay does have talent but he is to soft, I get the impression he thinks he's better than he actually is. As for Waghorn, I'm sick watching him, the premiership is out of his league and it's evident he is struggling big time. Eyes are on Pedro for next season.

13 May 2017 22:08:55
When I started watching gers in the early 60s it would have been laughable to hear a gers fan saying Willie Henderson had to toughen up that's what the Harold Davis and griegs were in the team for win the ball and give it to the baxters and hendersons. Let Barrie mackay do what he does best and get the ball winners in the midfield .

14 May 2017 00:08:19
Jaws, Henderson didn't need to toughen up. If you really remember him you'll know he wasn't one for shirking a tackle nor was he chicken hearted like McKay.

14 May 2017 00:18:48
Jaws, I fully agree and the same can be said for the Souness and Smith teams. We are badly missing players that can look after the Ball Players, guys like those you mentioned, guys like Tam Forsyth, Butcher, Gough, Roberts, Terry Hurlock and Souness himself.

We need to see two or three assassins arrive during this transfer window!

14 May 2017 00:19:26
Thats acceptable when he "does what he does" Jaws. But apart from his goal he was poor and just looks like he can't be bothered. Been like that a while. Players that have undisputed talent that produce the goods 99% of games can be forgiven for well being lazy but he doesn't produce that kind of constancy.

13 May 2017 19:22:57
TOMUSA:
I agree that just about all our problems lie in the fact we don't have a midfielder than can boss a game and if need be crunch his opposite number. we are all lightweight and predictable at best with a real lack of quality. I hope we see Rossiter blossom next year and Niko comes back like he was when he got injured and not when he signed.

What I'd like to see is 3/ 4 quality players sign, no more squad players. An athletic dominant centre half. A box to box midfielder, a forward that has that little something in his locker to bring others into the game and will easily hit 20 a season and one other.
I honestly think with 3/ 4 quality players it will bring more out of the players we already have.

For the avoidance of doubt, players from Ross County, Motherwell and Hamilton are not what I'm talking about as the answer.

13 May 2017 19:56:16
Kenny Miller thinks Rangers only need 2 or 3 quality players to win the league? So it should be pretty easy then. Just bring in 3 and that's it sorted.

13 May 2017 20:14:40
I should have finished off by saying what a nuptie kenny millsr is. He is trying to undermine Pedro. Saying how rasy it would be to make rangers invincibles. Comparing what Rodgers has done to how Pedro should compete. He needs to look at how many goals he has scored compared to Dembele and concentrate on his own perfirmance which has been average at best. Instead he wants to tell Rangers how easy it would be to win the league? Kenny if you think anyone is buying into your undermining bullshit then you carry on.

13 May 2017 21:44:49
Maybe when Miller said we only need to players he was referring to Gareth Bale and Messi! Even then our dodgy defence would let us down!

13 May 2017 14:29:26
3rd place, we'll take it. I'm all for criticism when it's due and constructive but directed at young players isn't helpful. Never has been. I'd like to see those against McKay and Bates giving them a break.

13 May 2017 15:03:10
no break needed. Bates coming on great and barry improved his workrate from last time.

13 May 2017 14:16:34
Barry Mckay's effort has been night and day, scores the winner today and deservedly so but he needs to keep that level and be consistent.

Hopefully he's not just putting the effort in to get himself in the shop window.

13 May 2017 14:30:55
Kenny miller says Rangers need 2 players to become invincibles. Yeah if its Messi and Ronaldo. What a load of tosh comes from thst mans mouth!

13 May 2017 15:01:03
Barrie is a winger, wingers are notoriously inconsistent. If the current squad weren't so poor all over the pitch, we would not be looking to players like McKay to produce a moment of individual brilliance every game (goal vs Partick etc) . But I agree that he should be a bit more consistent overall.

Rangers desperately need a CM that will confidently take the ball and control when things aren't going our way, the fact our most creative players are Barrie and Kenny speaks volumes for this group.

13 May 2017 15:29:42
We need a lot more than two players! We have some good kids that will do ok as squad players and will come in and do a game so long as we have quality players alongside them.

If we think that the majority of the players there today are quality then our expectations have sunk to a new low.

We need two quality centre backs, not run of the mill average players. We get those and with Wilson and Bates as back up we have the central defence covered. We need to sell Hodson, he is no where near good enough and we need to bring in a tough tackling right or left back.

Midfield is non existent. Holt is ok as back up but nothing else, Halliday is a joke, there is no guarantee that Rossiter will be fit or that Krancjar will fit into the team. The jury is still out on Windass and Crooks. We need a top quality holding midfield player, that has been our problem from day one, and we could do with a Souness type central mid that can defend, play the ball forward and score goals. Up front we have Miller and McKay with question marks over everyone else and we could really do with a young fast goalscorer.

I reckon that it will be wishful thinking to believe that we will secure the services of the right quality of player with the budget that we will have unless Pedro can pull off some very clever deals in South America and Portugal!

13 May 2017 16:08:46
It tells a story when Hill gets MOTM and rightly so. I'd keep him for next year! And Miller ended up playing holding mid in second half against 10 men. WTF

13 May 2017 18:03:00
I think we are missing a turn by not giving big Clint another year. Even if he didn't play every week he is a great roll model for the younger players and would make an ideal defensive coach. Whatever happens I am happy he played for us. Good luck big man.

13 May 2017 19:13:44
You r right Sam.
I was the 1st to protest about signing him, in my mind he was done and well past it but when you hear the phrase "good pro" that doesn't do him justice. I'm full of respect for him and thank him for being the only defender worth a jersey this season

13 May 2017 21:48:06
Yea, by freeing him it means we must sign someone better and there are not a lot of quality central defenders about and even fewer if you don't have the money!
Hill has been our best player this year yet we could end up with Kiernan and Wilson being our only option!

13 May 2017 13:09:10
Im seeing a lot of fans who slate bates and go on about how he isn't good enough. get your head out your a**e we aren't exactly spoilt for choice and for me he looks solid defensively sometimes looks abit shakey but i think its down to the fact he's a young guy whos just being introduced to first team football for us. i think so far in this game he's looked solid next to clint hill. At the end of the day its all opinion but i think its unfair to critique a young developing player like there a fully developed player so please bare in mind he can only get better.

13 May 2017 14:10:44
Agree with you Kyle, he has had some shaky games but he looks better each game.

13 May 2017 14:51:29
He is a young guy and will take time to learn the game. That will come so long as he has quality defenders to help him and we have a solid midfield in front of him. We are five players short and so long as Pedro brings in the right level of quality we will have an excellent side.

13 May 2017 03:08:29
Lets hope bates isn't part of caixinhas plans the guy is garbage. what we were thinkn signing him on loan fae raith in the 1st place. then on a permanent deal lol.

13 May 2017 08:25:02
Better than Wilson, Kieran and hill. Give the boy a chance

13 May 2017 08:31:20
A bit harsh the guys young and still learning and playing in a team low on confidence also playing behind a midfield that get overun.

13 May 2017 08:54:15
Totally agree. He's had 5 or 6 games and he's not looked comfortable in one. Never a centre half for a start. Infact never a footballer.

13 May 2017 09:24:53
Think we should loan him out and watch his progress but I agree he has not looked very comfortable at all so far.

13 May 2017 10:16:18
Better than hill, Wilson and Kiernan 😂 speak sense. the guy is terrible.

13 May 2017 10:30:31
Ffs! We all bang on about "give the kids a chance" then when we have a couple in the team they get slated! Give the boy a chance to adjust to the first team

13 May 2017 13:05:29
Well.45 mins in and i must say Bates is looking solid. Especially next to Clint, i disagree with people saying he's "garbage" completely disagree? Guessing you lot will be the same people that think Beerman is awful? He's young and looks promising.

13 May 2017 14:20:35
Half of these posts show exactly why Scotland doesn't produce good talented young players! Give the guy a chance. He's young and of course he's going to be nervous. Would you lot not be nervous getting thrown into the team you've supported your entire life? Of course you would so cut the guy some slack. I've yet to see him do anything so bad that's cost us

13 May 2017 14:41:58
Thought Bates had a good game today won most of his tackles and headers and kept things simple when on the ball

13 May 2017 15:33:21
He is only a young lad and with a top quality centre back alongside him he will grow both in ability and in confidence. He had a decent game today and Hill was arguably the best man on the park. Hodson was gash and most of the attacks came down his flank and the midfield was non existent.

The problem lies in midfield, Holt is no where near the quality we need and neither is Toral. That plus a top quality centre back is three of the most important positions we need to fill.

The other two are in attack where other than Miller and McKay, (when he wants to ), there are question marks over the rest.

13 May 2017 19:38:58
I hope the young guy bates doesn't read the pxxx some people write on here do we want young ones to get a chance or not they will learn if they get the backing or they will go if they don't and probably end up a good player so give all the young ones of the future hope

13 May 2017 21:50:21
Bates will take time to blossom but he has the ability. Just so long as Hill is replaced with a better quality full back that can help develop the young lad! The thought of Kiernan and Wilson, (or Kiernan and anyone), as our mainstream centre backs for next season fills me with dread!

14 May 2017 08:24:13
That's a bit harsh the guy has about ten senior games to his name, yes he's raw and seems a bit nervous but I think he could have plenty time to develop into a good defender. He's certainly no worse than keirnan etc

12 May 2017 22:24:07
Jermaine Defoe anyone? He would have a field day up here.

13 May 2017 02:23:44
No chance he would sign

13 May 2017 03:06:27
Yes he would but we can't afford him!

13 May 2017 08:00:45
Totally pointless post. Yes he would score for fun but there's not a chance he would even consider it.

13 May 2017 14:47:23
Banter site James2016?

13 May 2017 15:34:43
It is not a case of him not considering it, it is a case that we don't have the funds and I am not sure that right now our Board has that level of ambition!
