I am assuming I have missed the public announcement by Celtic that all their fans will be boycotting amazon, Starbucks, McDonald's and the many other major companies that pay zero UK tax by way of creative accounting.

I must take it that no Celtic fan will use Amazon for Christmas shopping thus year. Or pop into Starbucks for a latte. In fact should they not be outside one protesting such is their expertise on these matters?

As a group of such well educated tax experts like them, they must be all over that one or are they only going to pay attention to the tax issues of one company- rfc.

Ps I forgot to mention man utd have paid zero cooperation tax since takeover.

13 Nov 2015 17:59:15
I wonder how many players put their savings into overseas bank accounts to avoid the tax on that. I remember a few years ago a few TV presenters from BBC and stv news and a few other Scottish celebrities that had their main addresses at euro central to avoid tax did they pay back this money I think I recall most saying this was a legal loophole and that they have done nothing wrong so it is a bit rich that they keep pursuing this. Since we went down I don't watch any Scottish football apart from ourselves but the other day I put on the BBC and some wee cross eyed rat was asking stevie Thompson and Stuart mccall don't they think we were cheating why do the BBC keep getting followers of the sheep and other periphery teams as presenters and is it any wonder why decent football supporters no longer watch sportscene or even live games.

13 Nov 2015 20:33:44
Well McCall was well before that anyway, these guys need to get their facts straight.

14 Nov 2015 01:29:39
Despite the EBT scheme being a perfectly legal one used widely in England, the interpretations of it in Scotland by tax sponging student bloggers, and lazy biased journalists have been uniformly inaccurate, EBTs are legal. Paying for players outside your club's financial structure in my opinion is definitely seeking unfair sporting advantage but every guy on the Rangers payroll was payed by the club.

16 Nov 2015 09:06:18
GARY

I agree with your point re BBC.
They have a peculiar spin on the way they ask questions and interpret the response. If a 'guest' says they do not have a point to make re the legal process, they give them one.
Pay close attention to Chris the Gerbil, their Chief Sport reporter when he comments; some of it sounds innocuous until you pay close attention.

13 Nov 2015 15:33:27
Been listening to Celtic fans on Clyde 1 Super Scoreboard bumping on about Rangers' EBTs. Almost tempted to phone in. A few points to make:

1. Celtic used the EBT scheme too! Might only have been one player but it doesn't matter if it was one player or a full team. Sporting integrity is sporting integrity. Stop being hypocritical!

2. Celtic fans seem to think if Rangers were stripped of titles then the titles would go to them. Hahaha! No. Celtic never won them. In the case of stripped titles then they would be blank in the history books.

However, titles won't be stripped because Rangers NEVER BROKE ANY RULES!

13 Nov 2015 15:40:03
Nope no law broken.

Also never heard it mentioned that our advisors and accountants at that time raised the issue. Therefor if it was illegal could we not be after them for giving duff advice.
duff advice, not Duff and pHELPS ADVICE BUT MAYBE THE SAME THING.

13 Nov 2015 16:33:20
Nobody wants the Tainted Titles keep them or Mabe an asterisk beside them. The EBT you are clutching at straws with was examined by Sir Fergus and after analyzing the contract he paid the full amount and dismissed any EBT dealings as away back then he knew was to risky. Did any Bears see any MSM reporting Mr Kings EBT statement in 2012!Have a look.

13 Nov 2015 17:04:29
Steffantos, did Celtic not have an "unfair advantage" over other Scottish clubs while Juninho was playing while under the influence of performance enhancing EBT? Regardless of whether it was paid back afterwards, there must have been an advantage at the time. Surely in the interest of sporting integrity there can't be double standards.

As for the fans. I have Celtic fans crying "we want OUR titles" on the radio on a nightly basis. Celtic fans suffer from a tragic inferiority complex and will apparently stoop to the gutter in a futile attempt to match the Rangers.

13 Nov 2015 17:19:30
all this rubbish about EBT and Rangers having a sporting advantage because we fielded players we couldn't afford, get of the moral high ground Celtic fans Juninho was on an EBT regardless if the tax was paid or not, the tax wasnt paid while he was playing it was paid a year or two after. also what about the two Keanes Dermot Desmond paid their wages because celtic couldn't afford it. did that not give celtic sporting advantage at least the money our players got came from our club.

13 Nov 2015 17:49:08
Excellent point, lochaberbear. Problem is the Celtic fans want to have their cake and eat it. They are so desperate to put the boot in that they are blind to the facts.

13 Nov 2015 19:56:43
Great point Lochaber bear, I sure the lawyers of oldco/BDO will be usin that in court. "Hey why u picking on us didn't that lot over the road do it too lol " What a defence . Its a it wasn't me it was a big boy did it and ran away scenario. Guys grow a pair and admit your guilt because you are guilty the courts said so. You may appeal and good luck with that but as it stands u are guilty. You were quick to say u were not guilty when u won the case. No humility whatsoever.

13 Nov 2015 20:52:20
Steffanny, Rain man, and all the other Rangers haters, give it a rest, was it not said let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and while we're on the good book I'm sure one of the commandments was thought shalt not covet thy neighbours titles. WATP.

13 Nov 2015 21:20:28
Rayman, surely you must also be wondering about Celtic FC's statement about so-called sporting integrity or at least the timing just before their AGM? The argument about gaining a sporting advantage is flawed. How can anyone prove that the leagues and cups wouldn't have been won in any event? What proof is there that if we had other players in the teams that even one result would've been different? Isn't that a bit like saying "if my auntie had balls then he would be my uncle"? There is no way to PROVE advantage was gained is there?

13 Nov 2015 19:45:53
Lochaberbear lots of Celtic players were using a fake movie bissiness set up to make movies, for the avoidance of paying tax the Roy Keane etc, a lot of them, I can't really be bothered going online to find the othe dozen or so names a scheme set up by one of the head honchos at park head, I just wish they would worry more about there own problems, a report will be out at the end of this month letting everybody know about other shady schemes they were involved in, ie dodgy land deals, and them obtaining money from other places that were illegal (allegedly)

14 Nov 2015 09:29:12
Well does that not top it all? "No humility whatsoever" this guy is priceless, absolutely unbelievable coming from one of them. Why people on here still choose to engage this mob in discussion I'll never know.

The irony of his comments are clearly beyond him so what's the point guys, seriously? Enough is never enough and anybody who believes striping titles would appease them is delusional. They WANT TO BE RANGERS pure and simple. It's a deep seated jealousy born of the inferiority complex that consumes them.

The incessant attacks on our club, the demonization of our affairs have turned what was a fierce rivalry into a very dangerous and unhealthy division. That division in this new age of progression and tolerance is undeniably now wider than its ever been.

14 Nov 2015 19:15:41
@lwdawson - I would like to point out the inaccuracies in your post.

1. You are correct in stating that the mhanky mob used an EBT for Juninho but it was used in a different way from the way we used EBTs. On account of the way they used theirs it did not violate any SPL/SFA rules to my knowledge.

Let me explain, the reason we got investigated. It was because we did not declare the EBT payments when we registered our players and the EBT payment was used for footballing activities. Therefore, we potentially violated the rule that states all payments for footballing activities must be declared.

In relation to the mhanky mob's EBT for Junninho, they did not have to declare the payment when they registered Junninho for two reasons. 1 - no EBT existed at the time of registration and 2 - the EBT payment when it did come into existence was never used as payment for footballing activities. Junninho's EBT was created to pay for his contract termination and thus was not for footballing activities.

2 - You may be right (but let's hope we never find out) but it is too early to say whether or not they would be awarded to other teams if they were ever stripped.

3 - You are wrong when you say we never broke any rules. Do you not remember the wee tax case we were found guilty of (Luckily LNS considered these early schemes the same as the later ones) ? Do you not remember that we have now been found guilty in the big tax case? Do you not remember the fine we received for failing to declare payments during player registration? As much as it pains me to say it, the club I love have screwed up a number of times and we the fans have had to pay the price by suffering the indignity of playing in the lower leagues, being taken over by shysters, dragged through the media on regular occassion and being dragged through the courts.

I know this is not what most of you want to hear so appologies for being such a pedant.

14 Nov 2015 19:35:57
Can I just point out in two other court hearings rangers were found not guilty but as soon as one different court says we are guilty the unwashed just on it. Just you lot worry about hearts and Aberdeen and then next year we will show you what you've missed.

14 Nov 2015 22:04:01
Guys I think you are all missing the point here. A drug cheat in a race let's say the 100m in the Olympics comes last in the final, yet he is caught. Do the IAAF let him off because he was last? No of course not it doesn't matter he was last, IT WAS THE INTENT to gain an advantage it matters not a jot that he didn't. Did rangers do this to create an advantage? Well they didn't do it so they could stand still. Of course while there is intent there is no garauntee of winning its the intent that's important. That's where the guilt is.

16 Nov 2015 10:09:48
"How can anyone prove that the leagues and cups wouldn't have been won in any event? "

No need to. If even one ineligible player plays in a game, a result of 3-0 is awarded to the opponents. You have to look no further back than Legia Warsaw.

13 Nov 2015 13:51:08
I keep hearing that if we had not done EBT's we would not have signed the stars. I would argue that we may have ended up not wasting fortunes on players like Bert Konterman, Dan Prodan, Tore Andre Flo, Oleg Kutsnetsov, Rosental, Giavarch, Alexei Mikhailichenko, Ronald de Boer. I doubt this gave us an unfair advantage, in fact probably hindered us.

13 Nov 2015 14:28:12
Surely ronald de boer in that comment wasnt serious even big konterman was worth the money for that belter against them in the cup.

13 Nov 2015 14:43:51
Alexei Mikhailichenko has got nothing to do with the ebts, he was gone before the period under scrutiny began.

13 Nov 2015 15:09:59
You shouldn't try to argue or justify it based on the quality of players. The principle is simple. Regardless of the quality of player, EBT was illegal. Just cause you bought some duds doesn't excuse it. Like Konterman. The illegal use of EBT led to you buying him even though he was gash. it's the intention to gain an unfair advantage and that's what's coming to light here.

13 Nov 2015 15:42:46
JONTY JONES

EBTs not illegal at that time. Retrospective rules by HMRC brought them to attention.
Other teams used them based on the current financial advice eg Liverpool and Arsenal and Celtic also, based on their biscuit tin budget they got into it as much as they could.

13 Nov 2015 15:34:51
Jonty explain how ebts are illegal please.

13 Nov 2015 16:35:51
Johnny doesn't need to reply HMRC have! Oh and there will be no appeal to the Supreme Courts, another myth like the 30 million.

13 Nov 2015 17:13:36
If ebts were illegal murray and the players would face criminal charges.

13 Nov 2015 21:04:42
Jonesy
Don't panic! Ebt's were not illegal and many organisations openly used them at the time. Is anyone talking about stripping titles from Arsenal or trophies from Liverpool or even Septic? Funnily enough, no.

14 Nov 2015 01:08:57
EBT's are not illegal, its the way you use them, think.

14 Nov 2015 20:27:17
About these ebts seems all the English clubs involved in them paid a percentage of tax on them then case closed rangers tried the same but was unexcepted still to the now why! Think it's hmrc we should be looking into.

15 Nov 2015 01:29:56
Look taking drugs are not illegal, its not even illegal to take them in sport. Its the intent to use them as an advantage that's the cheating part.
Which part of that don't u understand.
Drugs only give u a marginal % of a better chance to win, it doesn't garauntee it so winning or losing is irrelevant its the trying to cheat that's important.
