We should sell Jelavic to West Brom for £3-4M + Dorrans then use the £3M for Malmo's Larsson then fund a move for self-confessed Rangers fan Jamie Murphy. Sounds like the ideal scenario to me if Jela leaves which is inevitable whether it be January or the summer.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

As long as the price reflects his importance to Rangers and Ally buys well all will be rosey. Big test for the management coming up. IMO. CheltBlue

Aye larsson has really set the heather alight in Europe league this season. NOT.

Rablam

2 1

If the guy had "set the heather alight" in Europe this season why would he sign for Rangers?!?

2 0

"Aye larsson has really set the heather alight in Europe league this season. NOT."

Did he not pump rangers out the competition? That's enough for a contract.

0 1

Best getting cash only for Jelavic and spending it on quality players available for reasonable money abroad, no dumplings playing in England quoted at looney prices.

Wet spam bid £7m for him last year if I'm right?!? For a reserve. That's money you obviously would never see again. The sad part is, they probably wouldn't even give us £7m for an international qualitm striker like Jela, and yet didnae take that last year for a Livi player made-good, who had one decent season for them in the championship and hasnae done a thing since.

0 1

Daniel larsson is rubbish he scored a good goal at ibrox doesnt mean hes a good player he has a very poor goal scoring record at malmo so yous are welcome to him but it wont happen

2 2

You seem to think any money made from Jelavic sale will be used to buy numerous replacements ! How stupid are you. If Whyte takes in 6 million or so for him i would be amazed if he even spent or was allowed to spend 1 million on a replacement

Jelavic will be sold to Liverpool or Man Utd in January for £15m with Fernando Torres coming in on loan.Ian Durrant has spoke to Villa boas about it today {Ed003's Note - good grief ! }

Believable4 Unbelievable12

Lol best post in a while. Don't know what'd funnier, jelavic at 15m or the Torres stunt.

Great post mate should have had left a name

Lenny

1 3

FF81 {Ed001's Note - personally I would have deleted the post as stupidity.}

2 0

6 1

We should feel sorry for the original poster hes obviousley not well

0 1

Yes and its nearly as funny as jellyfish being valued at 1o million aswell lol

0 3

To the above poster... the original post has him quoted as 15million... obviously funnier than 10 million? No name, didnt read the original post and wasnt funny. Fail Fail? CheltBlue

0 0

I wouldnt take any less than 10 million mite be playing in spl but some of his moves and goals have been something weve not seen at rangers in a long time ! if liverpool want him they just have to look at carroll before they bid !!

Sick to the back teeth of this Team GB olympics row! Why cant the football associations of Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland request a contractual agreement stating that if their players are selected it will not harm their independence with FIFA?

Steven.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Agree something needs done but the nations could easily sort it out.

Do you really think FIFA would push this? I doubt it.

I'll be cheering on GB regardless

3 3

Naturally I hope GB do well in the football as well as every other event, but I wouldn't go out of my way to support the football team in particular. Certainly not if it does in fact jeopardise our identity as an independent footballing nation.

Steven.

3 0

We would get a couple of reserves

1 0

Personally i would love to see a team GB permanently and get rid of the 4 home nations and play as GB think we could have had a cracking team over the years what do use think?

RAB

0 3

It would be only England players selected anyway, so still wouldn't have won a thing. Look at it this way, would any Scotland Wales or Northern Irish players improve Ebgland's team to the point of winning a Euro Championship or World Cup? Answer is definetely no. Not for me, not permanently I'm afraid.

Steven.

2 1

If they took away the seperate fa's then surely it becomes GB leagues? CheltBlue

0 0

Everyone is assuming that by joining team GB it will affect our independant footballing assosiation. how does anyone come to this conclusion? who do they expect to join with? the FA? they wont even concider the OF joining their league. a merge with wales and ireland? think not.. it would need to have a majority vote from the football assosiations. as for the players. team of 11 with about 5-6 subs your looking at a team with 5 players from each nation for fairness.

Hey bears was reading about the new secterian laws that have been passed. As a southerner (who appears exempt from the law?) Im a bit cloudy on good/bad and exactly wats now illegal. Wat is covered by the new act? Are Celtic fans reigned in in any way? Any thoughts welcome also because its not an issue down here:/ CheltBlue. {Ed001's Note - Chelt = Cheltenham by any chance?}

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Alright CheltBlue? Alex Salmond should be concentrating on getting our country back on its feet instead of interfering with with football and religion. That's the police job. 1 in 12 people in Scotland are out a job and he wants to put all his time into poking his nose into football. The sfa/spl should just deduct points off clubs that chant sectarian/political/offensive songs. That would soon sort it out. Just my opinion.

Not entirely sure exactly whats in it, but my law lecturer made it clear that the bill (as it wasn't an act when he was talking about us) was going to be no were near as radical as it was originally interned to be. Can't help you more than that i'm afraid. Muzz

Cheers for your input guys, yes edd the lovely Cheltenham :) CheltBlue {Ed001's Note - don't know I would say that myself, I lived there a few years back, still live nearby as my daughter is round here. There are worse places though, lots worse!}

RANGERS are set to step up contract talks with Maurice Edu and Thomas Bendiksen as they attempt to tie the midfield pair down on long-term deals
Yeeeessssss ya dancer!!!
CB67 :)

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Im pleased too, Edu has plenty of experience winning titles and Bendiksen is finally getting fit... CheltBlue

5 3

Hope they do lafferty as well and that means we have three truly world class legends at the club. after all, barcelona were looking at them.

5 0

Great news isn't it. What do you think Bendiksen best position is CB. That's good you support the Gers CB. I always knew that you were a closet Rangers man. Lol

Ed what was up with the link to a song I posted?
FF81 {Ed001's Note - I haven't had a chance to check it yet, as soon as I get caught up on all the posts waiting on the sites I will check it.}

Cb67 as the other two have been shot down for what they are i see you have taken up the challenge to be the new fud on the site .Well hats off to you.Absolute Sycophant that you are.Shaun H

How's he a sycophant? He was on the wind-up, not the suck-up.

2 0

The comment relates to his idiotic notion that by coming on this site apparently on the wind up as you put then returning to his own site and posting about how he has just had all the Shame(his words) biting in an attempt to gain favour and appreciation .Suppose you would call him a Windophant would you how pathetic as is he . Playing with a back 3 and wing backs is ok for certain games ie superior opposition but in the SPL most teams against will play most probably 1 up front leaving 2 players redundant and not having an influence on the team/game there for IMO its 4-3-3 in possesion or as some would say the dreaded 4-5-1 when not .Shaun H

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Mccoist is as boring defensivley as old wattie zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

4 3

Playing 3 at the back allows midfielders to push on and support ,safe in the knowledge that defensive duties are well covered. Also if teams do play with just 1 up then that allows the centre halves to retain possession between the 3 and gives more time to build attacks. I can see why you would think it's a negative approach but if you look into it a bit you'd see that the system is pretty expansive. Wing backs, 2 midfielders pushing on to support attack and one playing off or beside jelavic. Defence is taken care of, with a siting midfielder as insurance. so in this system at one time you could potentially have 6 attacking options with Wallace and Whittaker from wide, Davis and McKay/Aluko/Fleck and either Laff/Aluko playing off, or Laff playing beside Jelavic. If could be the system that brings out the best in guys like Whittaker, Davis and even Fleck/McKay (given a chance). Just a thought!!

Aye pity it does not work out that way and is just s**t to watch

Ally hinted pre match against hibs that he planned on going with a back 3 but weather prevented him from preparing in training. I was initially against the idea but since have come round. Hear me out...

Potential Team

McGregor

Bartley Goian Bocanegra

Whittaker Wallace/Papac
Edu

Davis McKay/Aluko

Lafferty Jelavic

Bartley and Boca are pacey enough and Goian would win the majority of high balls, back 3 solid. Whittaker has been poor but take away the emphasis to defend as part of a back 4 and allow a bit more freedom to attack and i think we'd see an improvement. Wallace or Papac have the engine to get up and down for 90mins as well as Whittaker so there's where our width would come from. Edu would sit and allow Davis and McKay/Aluko to play support our front 2. If McCoist didn't want to go for a front 2 then Laff or Aluko could easily play off Jelavic. The system would provide a solid platform in defence with another bank of 3 in Whittaker, edu and papc/Wallace infront when were on the back foot. Going forward we'd have 2 midfielders pushing on with a front 2 or 1 off Jelavic and width coming from Whittaker and Papac/Wallace when they can provide support. I think this system would cause teams problems. Thoughts?

J1985

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Yeah I like your system, similar to my own opinion too, although mine is slightly different.

Would love to see ness in the Rangers team but i think theres problems there, don't know what but can't seem to get him fit. An ideal replacement for Davis if he was sold but like i say i don't know what the problem is with his fitness. If anyone can tell me what's going on with Ness it'd be much appreciated.

Just want to send my best wishes to Darren Fletcher after hearing the news of his illness and consequent extended break from the game. Very important player for Manchester United and Scotland. Gets a lot of criticism for his national performances but games would be much tougher without him in the side. He does lots of unselfish work and gets others playing as well as helping the younger members of the squad a great deal. So as a proud member of the Tartan Army, I would like to say all the best Fletch. Get well soon skipper.

Steven.

Believable17 Unbelievable3

Don't worry mate, once Edu gets naturalised having been here a couple more years, and can pull on a dark blue jersey, no one will notice the difference. :-)

2 4

Oh Rodney u plonker, mo edu has been capped for USA.

Rablam

5 1

Irony detection fail from the big kablamo. Pass me the flipchart delboy. :-)

2 3

Irony?
Possibly wrong term, Mr expert.

the bigyin

4 3

Irony is the correct term - i'm guessing the comment was tongue-in-cheek, which is a form of irony.

An Expert

2 1

Spot on An Expert. I can confirm that I'm obviously aware of Mo's hard-earned international caps and comments were indeed tongue-in-cheek, lest there be any doubt. :-)

My comment was indeed ironic. It's ironic and a tad hypocritical of people who use one stick for beating Mo (figuratively speaking Rablam :-) turn round and criticise people who are critical of FLetcher's contribution in a Scotland shirt. The two cases are very similar: people are on their case as they expect something different to their game- that's generally the fault of a manager misusing them in an unbalanced side. E.g. Putting Edu beside Lee Mcl in central midfield and wondering why no one can pick a pass.

I think part of the problem with some of the recent poor performances is due to the fact that certain players can have a run of bad games and still not loose their place. Whittaker hasn't kicked a ball all season and lets not forget the champions league two years ago when every team targeted him as our week spot. I would personally give broadfoot a chance at rb. Some of you may laugh but lets remember firstly a rightback is their to defend and when he was fit Walter Smith liked to play him. When was the last time Whittaker made it to the bye line, Broadfoot does that, it may look clumsy and unorthadox but it works.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Broadfoot has already cost us games this season!

8 1

Our options are limited a R.B thats why Whitts plays every week.
Who do we have to fill the R.B position - McMillan,Cole, broadfoot, and possibly Perry.
Tom Hateley would do a job for us at R.B thats if we signed him.
Meantime give McMillan a chance and move Whitts into Midfield.

3 1

Tom Hateley,

Not a chance mate... He is gash. Daddy was great but he is not Gers quality.

GB

3 2

Whitts is as bad a midfielder as he is defender give him away that's what I say.

6 1

You criticize Whittaker for not defending and then say when was last time he got to by line, well to me it sounds like your contradicting yourself

1 4

Hes still woeful full stop

3 0

If you remember when Hateley first signed for Rangers he wasn't that great so dont write him off
