does anyone think that Clarke could be an attacking midfielder. if the answers are all no then its seeya. clutching at straws here but moneys tight natno. also if by a freak of chance do we fancy our chances in a double whammy against the arabs.
deecee.

14 Dec 2015 19:55:48
I don't think he will get a contract he's not the answer at all.

14 Dec 2015 20:54:30
Deecee, I think we have the ideal attacking mid-fielder in Dean Sheils.

15 Dec 2015 18:44:34
Clark and Aird - naw! Law -mibbees!
Shiels - Aye!

14 Dec 2015 17:30:52
Along with my post that may or may not be up yet.

I wanna know what departures you would like to see?

Personally.
Clark: for obvious reasons
Law: has had his chances and flattered to deceive at best of times
Templeton: Attitude seems wrong, far too injury prone. Shame because he looked class at Hearts (at times)

On another page, I'd like to see Shiels given another year at SPL level with us. Ball is apparently out of contract at Spurs, wage depending, I wonder if it would be possible to offer him a permanent contract. Same applies to Oduwa, a recent dip in form doesn't hide the fact that he's had the whole stadium on their feet at times.

Just my thoughts.

15 Dec 2015 13:37:55
Clark, Law and Temps should all go.

Would love to see Ball and Oduwa given contracts, can't see it happening tho.

15 Dec 2015 12:41:53
Nope ball is definitely going back south, he said so himself that's he's looking forward to going back home when this seasons done.

15 Dec 2015 19:11:10
Still not sure on Templeton due to injuries and severe lack of coaching under previous management. Not a fan of Clarke or Law even though they too have my sympathy for having to play under McCoist!

Clarke has not shown any of the goal scoring skill he showed at QotS and tends to run around like a headless chicken. Law lacks heart and just does not have the mentality to be a Rangers player. Not the player he was at Motherwell.

14 Dec 2015 17:25:03
This is just my opinion, however:

I don't see why all of a sudden a large portion of fans have turned on Zelalem, the boy knows how to play. He's a real prospect. He's our best passer and quietly keeps the midfield ticking (along with Holt, might i add who is a future Scotland international) .

Anyway, I firmly believe that Zelalem has the silk and cutting edge we need. He fits the exact mold of player MW likes/wants. He's a better option to Nicky Law and Shiels.

We are now a fluid footballing, attacking side. We must fully back this team and management for what has truly been an immense start to the season. Would you honestly go back to how we were playing 2/3/4 years ago? . This is a very young team, with many promising players. Learning a new league and footballing style. We WILL win this league and I am sure of it.

I'm just sick of the team and management being ridiculed for trying to play football the right way. We are heading bang on in the right direction and with the right additions in January and/or summer. We will be a force to be reckoned with.

P. s don't worry about Hibs boys, we all know the amount of bottle that lot possess.

14 Dec 2015 19:14:53
KK great post regarding zelalem he is 19 and pure class he makes playing the game look easy also been impressed by his tracking back and tacking because for his slight build he gets stuck in only negative is I think after creating the space for himself he should take a shot more often other than lookin to slide others in. We should enjoy this lad while we have him because I think he will reach the very top. I am also with u regarding some fans turning on him. I don't get it surely this is exactly the type of player every team is lookin for. the type of player that other teams pay big money for. ( just wish he was ours) I just think getting on the young lads back for a mist place pass isn't helpin our cause. It could maybe sway other real prospect about coming to us . Also been very impressed with holt he looks like another gem. I know he has a Long way to go but reminds me of Paul scholes. Also happy with the manager and the style of play. I maybe a bit over confident but I am also not worried about Falkirk or hibs. I really feel we are on the way up.

15 Dec 2015 19:14:13
Zetalem shows all the attributes of a quality player of the future. Unfortunately Arsenal will be the ones to reap the benefit. Ideally he would play some games but not all but unfortunately we are severely limited on the playing front and that does not allow us to be flexible with our rating eleven. It also means that the team pretty much picks itself and without competition for places, players become lazy.

15 Dec 2015 12:46:10
Agreed Gedion Zelalem is only young and is just learning his trade so he will make mistakes but us fans should get behind all the players as their giving 100% in every game, yeah we might drop points but their efforts will hopefully be rewarded come next May.

14 Dec 2015 14:59:36
So to my knowledge we have a couple of players with their contracts running out at the end of the season.

Nicky Law
Dean Shiels
Nicky Clark
David Templeton
and Craig Halkett

Do you think any of these will be earning a new one?

One definite no for me would be Nicky Clark. I like the lad but it just isn't working.

Shiels and Law have their moments but don't know if they are Rangers SPL material. I like Shiels though, he's been with us from the start and would maybe give him another year.

I would like to see Temps back when fit as I think he could do a job for the end of the season but unfortunately think his time may be up if he doesn't perform.

14 Dec 2015 15:20:50
Border ranger a would let clark shiels go a just don't know what shiels bring to the team to me he's to slow on the ball a would prefer thompson to get his chance before shiels clark gives 100% but just not good enough other players a would see how the go in the second half of the season another one who a think will go is bell in the summer.

14 Dec 2015 15:38:43
A lot depends on our Finances and who we bring in. I don't know much about young Halkett and I would like to think that Templeton could recover the form he showed at Hearts although he does appear to be injury prone.

Clark just doesn't do it for me and we haven't seen the goalscoring exploits that were there at QotS. Whether he could come good I doubt and we don't have time on our side to experiment. As for Shiels and Law they are not the players that they were at their previous clubs and certainly in Law's case I would hope that we could get some money for him in January or perhaps use him as part of a transfer to bring in a good young player. Neither Shiels nor Law are bad players but they are not 'Rangers' players and that is the important thing.

15 Dec 2015 09:47:13
TOM

I agree with what you say except for Templeton.
How did so many OK/promising players come to us and end up not good?
I think we all know.

15 Dec 2015 11:37:47
Aye, I reckon Hardie could easily take Clarks spot and Thompson walk into Shiels or Laws.
As I've said, they both have had their moments but I think we only need one of them. Law has scored some good goals from edge of box last season which I think we need more of this season rather than walking the ball in sometimes. Shiels can pick out a good pass and changed the game a couple weekends ago when he came on and was involved in 2 or 3 goals.

14 Dec 2015 12:36:01
I have been on here for wks saying we do not have the squad that is going to see out this season and win the league, if we don't get in 2 strikers and 2 midfielders I fear for us.

It would not surprise me if we dropped more points next 2 games. My feeling is that if we don't take full 6 points and get the players we need in January it is playoff spot for us again!

14 Dec 2015 13:57:24
you may very well be right mate worried myself about some players coping with the bad weather and the pressure, we desperately need a it of experience in middle of park to calm the boys down and add a bit of steel, no mention of the middle aged guy who was signing every week please, we should have gotten an explanation for that? but we do need someone in to steady the ship.

a younger alex neil would have been ideal but I sure the likes of Davidson at saints would love to have rangers on their CV and there are guys in England who can bolster our young team, We must take all points available to us over xmas, and especially do better than hibs, and Falkirk for that matter, we must win on Saturday, hibs got lucky again against them and Houston will have them right up for this, c'mon the Rangers.

14 Dec 2015 09:37:25
Warburton needs to look back at the first few games of the season and think about what might have gone wrong since then. We've still won 13 out of 16 league games and are still effectively 4 points ahead of Hibs. However, I agree that this tippy-tappy stuff is all very pretty but isn't producing the goals we need. Maybe Warburton should play Miller, Clark and Waghorn as a front 3 from the start against Falkirk and have Halliday and Holt in defensive midfield with Mackay and Aird as attacking wide midfielders in a 3-2-2-3 formation! I'd just havae Tavernier, Kiernan and Walsh at the back. Oduwa and Zelalem? Well I'm really not sure. Just a thought to keep the debate going so don't laugh!

14 Dec 2015 11:13:44
What has Clark done to merit a start it's clear he isn't good enough and can't score. We desperately need a striker and a strong midfielder. Oduwa and Zelalem have been very poor. When we signed I thought they were going to be standouts in the league however both have done next to nothing.

14 Dec 2015 12:35:58
Doiger, Clark should be let go in January if we can find someone to take him, I think he's out of contract next summer, I wonder if this will change warburtons mind about only needing 2 players in January, I personally think we need 4, but what do I know. still have 100% faith in the gaffers judgement.

14 Dec 2015 15:31:51
Doiger
I agree a change of personnel and/or formation could be done to freshen things up a bit but can't agree with the likes of Clark or Aird playing. If MW wants to hasten his exit out of Ibrox, that would be one way to do it. I don't have a problem with young Hardie coming in or using Miller as an impact player. I'd also consider bringing Danny Wilson in and moving Ball into midfield with Halliday to stiffen things up there. I'd have Shiels and McKay switching wings with Waghorn through the middle and Holt floating in behind. My starting eleven would be: Fod, Tav, Wilson, Kiernan, Wallace, Ball, Halliday, Holt, Shiels, Waghorn and McKay.

14 Dec 2015 17:08:48
Doiger, I would not play aired out wide, in fact I wouldn't play him period, unless we were mega hard pushed.

14 Dec 2015 15:44:29
We need to tighten up our defence and as such I can see Wilson coming back into the team with Ball moved into a holding midfield role. That will mean sacrificing an attacking player and for me that has to be Zetalem who is struggling to cope with the over physical style of the Scottish League.

I would play Oduwa from the start, get him running at the defence and putting them under pressure. If he is on form then the only way that the Falkirk and Hibs players will stop him is by fouling him and if the referees are being fair then we will have a major advantage. Problem is that the boy has been kicked black and blue and the culprits have got off Scot free.

What ever we do we need six points from the se two games and then, very quickly in January we need to bolster the side with two or three new players!

14 Dec 2015 20:56:15
Tom i think that would be a mistake why should we change our style of play to a more defensive lineup surely we need to win to make a statement to Falkirk and hibs that we are better than them. The only time it was changed to this season to a more defensive line up was at easter rd with the 3 players u mentioned ball Wilson kernan the only time the 3 of them have been on the pitch at the same time. it was our only defeat in the league. I would rather go for it than sit back and invite pressure on to us. there is lots of points up for grabs and Falkirk and hibs will drop points against other teams through the season. A don't get all the panic.

14 Dec 2015 01:11:03
Seems as if every hypothetical line up proposed by fans often includes Ryan Hardie in the first eleven.

It does appear MW values Nicky Clark's contribution ahead of young Ryan Hardie.

Would love to see him get more opportunities than Kenny Miller. The fact that Nicky Clark is ahead of Hardie in the pecking order just seems mind blowing.
