Why do people think Alves does not want to be here? Because the papers used the fact he didn't get straight back into the team after his suspension and injury to make a story about him wanting to leave for more game time?

He's always going to be one of the first names on the team sheet. He was suspended and then picked up a knock. Murty left him out rhebteam because at that point we had beaten Hearts and Patrick and didn't want to break up Wilson and McRorie considering they were winning.

Unless I'm missing something? Would like to know everybodies view on this!

14 Dec 2017 22:26:58
Definitely first name on the team sheet. Only time will tell if he wants to stick around or if the club want him to hang around after Pedro leaving, after all Pedro pushed the boat out to get him here and I think he might be the highest paid player in the division.

14 Dec 2017 22:31:06
Totally agree bearmode Murty didn't want to drop macrorrie or Wilson cause they had played well. Alves will be no.1 central defender and I would also say he was unfairly blamed for hibs goal. He had to leave the player he was marking because our midfield didn't track back when hibs player cut ball back.

15 Dec 2017 09:16:54
Bruno Alves is an absolute class act.

Some folk need to wisen up, he made one poor mistake against Hibs - but was the rock and core of our defensive unit in the second half.

Do people just think it’s a coincidence that Danny Wilson has all of a sudden started playing well?

Bruno gives all the others around him the platform to perform as a result of his composure and communication.

Idiotic of some folk to suggest we’re better off without him.

14 Dec 2017 18:42:27
So is the title challenge back on?

14 Dec 2017 19:22:04
It should always be on.! No questions

14 Dec 2017 19:30:30
You tell us Rayman.

15 Dec 2017 09:11:31
Not a chance of this team winning the league, we need to get second place sorted before we do anything and that's not a done deal, Hibs we're by far the better team on Wed we couldn't string two passes together how we got out of there with three points I'll never know.

one step at a time the team at other side of city are miles ahead of us both financially and player ways, we need three or four quality players to lift us up people who can put their foot on the ball and control a game, every time we got possession on Wed tried to move forward we lost it again through our own silly mistakes, we need investment where that comes from I don't know share issue we need a nomad and to be listed and bank borrowing facilities.

we can't carry on expecting the board to keep the lights on, we need a manager some one with a bit of panache a figure head who takes no nonsense and can work with a DOF, so let's be happy with where we are three points on Sat and hope the transfer window brings us a surprise but I won't be holding my breath on that.

15 Dec 2017 09:10:02
why are you starting to panic? Good win for us last night 3 points is 3 points. Squeaky bum time at Easter Road on Sunday for the invincibles.
Brenda's melt down is getting closer.

15 Dec 2017 09:11:09
Short answer. No!

15 Dec 2017 09:13:17
Are you not even remotely concerned that we have been bang average, lost a manager, have our youth coach taking the reigns at the moment and are not too far behind 🤔

15 Dec 2017 09:14:47
Rayman are you getting a bit paranoid?

15 Dec 2017 09:15:33
Right now no but another slip from Celtic before the old firm could see rangers Within 4 points of them if we win our remaining 4 games I done the maths

15 Dec 2017 10:11:00
If celtic are miles ahead of us, how come we are second and at the moment only 5 points behind, despite us apparently being in disarray? If they slip up against Hearts on Sunday then we can grab a win on 30th December at the midden heap, we could be equal on points going into the winter break. Brenda's teams tend to implode in time and the same will happen on the dark side. Time we talked our team up again. Murty is doing a brilliant job. With Dorrans, Jack and Walker back we'll be stronger again, hopefully the first two before the Old Firm game. A bonus is that McRorie, Bates and Barjonas have broken into the first team squad and wee Holt has really been our man of the match for the last three or four games. The league title is not out of sight yet

15 Dec 2017 11:19:27
I meant Wallace, not Walker lol

15 Dec 2017 12:27:18
DOIGER
it's all ifs and buts, if we win that game and they loose this game, yes we are five points behind they have a game in hand as well, in my view we need at least two to three transfer windows to build a team, that's two managers who have wasted millions on players who just aren't good enough, yes we had two good performances against Aberdeen poor against Ross County and Hibs but yes we got six points, we will drop points along the way as we don't have a team capable of winning all games Celtic will out spend us in Jan so we need to be patient get investment in place to build that team
After saying all that I'm a happy bear right now four wins in a row Jack and Wallace to come back soon pity about Dorrans out for three months but Mcrorie has been a sensation in midfield but we need two or three quality players added to the squad players that can change games put their foot on the ball and control the game, you saw it against Hibs our passing was abysmal we kept giving it away how we got three points I'll never know, I'm a patient guy and I see we have moved forward in the fact we dug in on Wed and defended with our lives but it will take time three points on Sat will help

15 Dec 2017 15:17:01
The deluded arguing with the deluded lol.
Now that was a catch.

14 Dec 2017 15:42:10
So Moult has signed for another team. Who cares, how many players bang in the goals up here, go down south and do nothing only to come back up here again?

14 Dec 2017 18:36:31
but we play up here .

15 Dec 2017 09:12:37
Spot on Trev

14 Dec 2017 14:04:23
Louis Moult agrees 3yr deal with PNE. Would have been good to have got him but at least the manky mob haven't pulled another Scott Allen.

14 Dec 2017 14:22:02
good luck to the lad

15 Dec 2017 09:01:57
He's been saying for a long time he wanted to go back south, he was never going to sign for us, thank goodness. Preston's his level.

14 Dec 2017 12:18:52
Louis Moult to Preston. A bit of a sickener for me as I think he would have done a sterling job for us. He knows the league inside out and scores 1 in 2 for a very average Motherwell team.

£450k being the estimated figure that Preston have paid, I would have stumped up with that for a physical, pacey goal scorer.

Oh well.

14 Dec 2017 12:36:42
utter madness we haven't gone for him

14 Dec 2017 13:07:37
if we start signing players without any manager in charge then what happens if the new manager doesn't want them doesn't make sense to sign any players just now.
I do not expect to be many incomings this jan maybe loans but could be a few going out to get them off wage bill.

14 Dec 2017 16:47:15
It's not a given he would of come to us anyway by all accounts he wanted to leave Scotland and go back down south.

15 Dec 2017 09:02:04
He was always going back south! He was never a target for that reason!

14 Dec 2017 12:07:22
I'd be giving the captains armband to Danny Wilson permanently. He plays better with it and after listening to Murtys interview last night he said Wilson was the one in the changing room at half time shouting at players to get the finger out. Bates also spoke of him helping him through games.

14 Dec 2017 12:20:17
I agree that Wilson has come onto a game, and seems to relish the responsibility of the armband. However, Wallace is deservedly captain and I feel that talk of stripping him of the armband is completely disrespectful to him.

14 Dec 2017 13:14:57
I like Wallace but I prefer my captain not to be a mute.

14 Dec 2017 15:28:03
Wilson had a great season for hearts as captain been solid since he came back has Murtys trust now and is repaying him big time

14 Dec 2017 15:41:23
Wallace is never a captain.

14 Dec 2017 16:50:39
He has the armband but if you watch it's actually Alves who is organising that diffence so don't really make much sense him being captain tbh but if murty did it to give him more confidence then it has certainly worked.

14 Dec 2017 17:20:20
Agree lads, give McCrorie 2 years in the first team then give him the armband in the meantime I’d wouldn’t have a problem with Wilson, Dorrans, Alves or Jack

14 Dec 2017 18:55:26
No problem*

15 Dec 2017 09:06:08
Big Wallace had earned his role as captain. He stuck with the club in our darkest hour and by being banned by Pedro suggests he had a voice in the changing room. I hope he gets back to full fitness and proves the doubters wrong.

Just seen Dorrans out for 3 months on stv news leaving jack and holt as the only half decent midfielders at the club. Big mccrorie although playing in midfield is our next centre half along with Danny Wilson.

14 Dec 2017 11:38:26
Did anybody feel that Candieas's attitude seemed a bit off last night?

He's normally one of the hardest workers at the club and is very passionate etc, however I just felt he did not look happy and a certain points in the game took his foot off the gas? is it just me?

He also did not celebrate any of the goals really, if you watch him as Morelos scores to take the lead, it looks as if he literally turns round to go back to the starting position for the restart with almost zero reaction to the goal. Wonder what has happened there?

14 Dec 2017 12:21:12
Probably Baltic and wanted to get down the tunnel.
Or maybe not happy being left out. Who knows - maybe he is the mole!?!?!?!?

14 Dec 2017 15:27:15
I totally agree bearmode . candieas gave the ball away constantly last night and was shirking out of challenges definitely wasn't up for it

14 Dec 2017 15:45:40
Yip bearmode he was shocking last nite and looked like he didn't want to be there and standing about with his hands in his sleeve like a wee schoolboy is my pet hate.

14 Dec 2017 16:51:47
Thought he started the season really well but he has definitely gone down hill since Pedro left imo

15 Dec 2017 09:03:55
He's in the huff because he's no longer an automatic starter and his gaffer's no longer there. Soon we'll see an exodus of Pedro's boys.

15 Dec 2017 09:09:26
Thought he was a great wee player but has been very poor since Pedro left. Hope he finds his form soon.

14 Dec 2017 11:12:37
I know that there are a lot of folk on here who can't see past Miller but I think with his injury last night we might be able to be more of an attacking threat and have two forward thinking players that stay upfront and in and around the box like he used to. Windass just off Morelos. When Wallace is fit get him in at LB with John in LW. Windass is not a left mid and as frustrating as he can be at times there's a player in him. As for Alves I don't think his heart is in it and he doesn't want to be here.

14 Dec 2017 12:03:56
Spot on about Miller. His injury will be a blessing in disguise so hopefully it’ll be Morelos and Windass up front from now on.

14 Dec 2017 12:22:49
I don't think Kenny should start every game, but it has largely been out of necessity this season due to a lack of options.
The injury allowed us to change formation and combat their width more effectively. I don't think it was Millers withdrawal, more the tactical re-jig that made us more effective.

14 Dec 2017 15:04:08
This will be Kenny's last season as a player for us and really hope he gets the credit he deserves. He has been a great servant of our club and Ibrox should raise the roof on his final appearance!

14 Dec 2017 21:17:22
What makes Murty's achievement so far impressive is he's had to deal with a lot of injuries and suspensions to 1st team players.

Bruno, morelos, dorrans, Jack, Wallace have all been missing at various points, but Murty has managed to get the best out our limited squad.

It bodes well for the second half of the season when these guys are options.

14 Dec 2017 10:02:41
I could beleive what i was watching last night Rangers habe turned into a walter smith team resiliant and then bang goals. Windas finish reminded me of jelavic and morales goal was like dan cousin against lyon. Then the second half was backs against the wall like our euro cup run but we got the result in the end as a hard working unit.

14 Dec 2017 11:45:49
Difference is we were not playing Lyon we were playing Hibs. Taking nothing away from them they are actually a good side and they have a manager who knows how to set a team up (regardless of what we think of him) .

I'm as happy as the next bear with the win but we should be passing the ball better even in that defensive shape, we were lucky to get away with that last night let's be honest. Murty admitted it in his post match with RTV.

14 Dec 2017 12:09:36
Winning ugly can be the sign of future champions 😉

14 Dec 2017 14:53:52
Future future future future. Celtic are winning ugly currently. I an positive this will be resolved by December 30th when we win beautifully.

15 Dec 2017 09:07:42
@kwaj - you got a stutter? And Celtic are just plain ugly! And I'm expecting a New Year Timplosion when Murty puts Brenda in his place.

P.S. I'm still waiting on you coming back with separate club listings for Rangers and your beloved Sevco in the SFA and UEFA websites?

14 Dec 2017 09:43:12
I just watched the highlights back and thought our goals were magnificent strikes from Windass and Morelos. If Morelos has got his mojo back he will be worth a goal a game like he was earlier in the season. Remember that Jack and Dorrans were missing last night. Murty is growing in stature with every game. So what if a penalty claim was turned down and they hit the post? How often have we seen the luck go against us? St. Johnstone at home on Saturday for us and the manky mob are away to an improving Hearts team. Interesting times!

14 Dec 2017 12:08:52
Well said, a bit of momentum and throw in a bit of luck. We were lucky last night, Windass said after the game we were battered, I’ll take that for 3 points.
Big Marvin always said, "keep believing".

14 Dec 2017 08:01:31
Great result, well done lads. Defended for our lives and were lucky on a couple of occassions. Thought fod was absolute class, murty great tactical change bringing on bates. We need more quality though, hope the dof has this sorted for january.

14 Dec 2017 08:39:55
Agree we rode our luck it was a stone wall Pen but we defended well but going forward our passing was a disgrace we kept giving the ball away hence the pressure on us but we need two or three better quality players who can put their foot on the ball and control the game but three points is three points and at Easter Road where a lot of teams will drop points they are valuable points

14 Dec 2017 09:09:35
Not a great performance but defended better than we have been
100% a penalty and we got away with one but no more a penalty than we should have had for the pull on Mccrorrie in the first half so Lennon should shut his hole
In my opinion we have miles to improve in all areas of the park but we are only about 5 points behind them

14 Dec 2017 12:01:39
Great result last night, but mark Allan do your job and get moult from Motherwell, I really think he could be a big player for us

14 Dec 2017 12:05:21
Squad is down to the bare bones.

The game was too fast for young Barjonas and it’s unfair to throw 18 year olds into these games. It shows how good McCrorrie has done coming in. We have too many players in the squad who just won’t play - Rossiter, Krancjar, Hodson, Dalcio and Cardoso. Add players who aren’t good enough Pena, Herrera, Morelos, and Candias.

What has happened to Candeias in the last couple of games. I really liked him but he has been rubbish in the past few games.

14 Dec 2017 14:23:35
are you seriously adding morelos to a list of not good enough? one of the strangest things i have seen on here

15 Dec 2017 00:51:21
Won't play? Cardosa got his nose broken. Candeias has created more goals than anyone in the league. Morelos? Our top goalscorer? You're either on the wind up or crack.

15 Dec 2017 09:08:33
He’s rubbish. Useless.

He missed 2 great chances last night and I stopped counting during the Hamilton game, his touch is like an elephant’s, he can’t pass, he can’t hold the ball up, he makes rubbish runs and he is as slow as a week in the jail.

15 Dec 2017 09:50:29
How many times has Cardoso played since being fit again? He is number 5 centre half and taking a good wage. He won't play too often under Murty.

Have you read the other posts about Candias? Has Murty not dropped him to the bench?

Compare Morelos to Jelavic, Prso, Naismith - the last decent forwards we had. Lad couldn't lace their boots.

He's that good he was getting booed at the Hamilton game.

Get a grip and stay off the glue.

14 Dec 2017 07:31:17
Had a few last night so please bear with me (Whisky 1st prize at quiz! ) . So we got lucky, big deal. Some might say its papering over the cracks, but I'll take all the luck we can get. We already have to put up with no-one liking us and us not caring, and teams that want to challenge for trophies need to grind out those sort of results. It's clear Celtic get a fair rub of the green, and I'd rather it was for an honest mistake than deliberate cheating! Not trying to go down the route of complaining about it just think we should suck it up a bit longer. We should remember that Celtic in our absence have become the 'Establishment Club' and consequently the majority of contentious decisions go in their favour, and the gutter press won't write a negative word about them for fear of losing their jobs or being pilloried by their gum bumping chums. I remember those days fondly.
Murty does seem to be developing a bit of a siege mentality. Instead of an experienced manager what about experienced No2? Perhaps a firefighter for when Graeme wants to go for a wee cry.

Keep Believing.

14 Dec 2017 05:53:57
Murty is doing a great job for a guy who is inexperienced? Who's old enough to remember Walter Smith taking the manager role? Most successful manager of our club. I say give this man a chance and see how far he can take us! I think it will be a lot further than most of us think.

14 Dec 2017 08:17:50
Sorry bladesy, I disagree, did you watch that game tonight? He has no tactics whatsoever and his team were all over the place for 80 minutes, I love the guy but can't see him attracting the players we need in to Ibrox.

14 Dec 2017 12:04:52
Jyf he did the best he could with the players that were available i would say

14 Dec 2017 12:11:43
Jyf as he said it Allen’s job to sign plates not his, and if he got the job, it would remain the same.

14 Dec 2017 16:27:57
Loads of respect for Murty but i actually think he should have went 451 rather than 541 towards the end last nite. i know people will say we got tge win but it could have been costly not flooding the midfield around the time we brought Bates on

14 Dec 2017 03:08:53
Murty has git us fighting again and its great to see. Maybe a bit hard to watch at times but at least we are still up for it. Wee note bruno alves isn't the answer at the back.

14 Dec 2017 06:45:52
It is great to see that we never gave up last night, however what was not great was the very poor passing that throughout the 90 put us under constant pressure. Alves has a poor game I agree but he is by far the best centre half we have. I just happens that defenders get looked at more as errors usually cost goals. Thankfully fod has great game.

14 Dec 2017 08:18:57
Cant believe i'm saying it but Alves looks poor.

14 Dec 2017 12:06:22
Thank goodness we have mcrorie then. Mcrorie wiilson partnership when Jack n dorrans come back i rekon

14 Dec 2017 12:12:58
I have to agree, it was Alves who was at the near post doing nothing but watch Ross County score on Saturday as well. He was better second half last night but I'm no going to miss him if he's off in January.
