Ed I've heard 3 or 4 SPL clubs will go into administration once the league reconstruction is signed hence the fact why they want to push reconstruction as the points deduction won't mean anything, do you think there could be any truth in this. {The Ed039's Note - That has nothing to do with it, clubs struggling financially but have cut their outgoings, Hearts are in real danger of entering administration but nobody is battering down any doors)

Believable5 Unbelievable19

For a start the spl will still have relegation so your talking garbage ... that puts an end to that

10 1

Spl is one up - one down, stale and limits advancement, but protects spl clubs status quo.

new setup could see 4up/4down, but even this would not be disaster, as if in top 4 of lower div next season at split then you back in lower half of spl equiv, with 50-50 promotion prospects.

this should means more new faces in spl level, but will always be small teams with small grounds and small fans bases, but could give glory run, like with grentna, so not once in generation

but new glory days for handful of clubs to regro thier fan bases.

any club not won anything for 60 years is hardly going to have strong fan base, to fallback on in hard times.

5 0

Bigger issue reported elsewhere is need uefa licence to play in top division, and rangers can't acquire that for 4 years at least.

11 8

I thought it was 3years for a uefa licence? {The Ed039's Note - Three years signed accounts for a UEFA licence, which would effectively take 4 years to produce)

4 2

ED 039 - how will 3 years accounts take 4 year to produce after RIFC's first year they will produce first set of accounts, 2nd year 2nd accounts 3rd year 3rd set of accounts No?

JG {The Ed039's Note - Yes, so all being well after the 3rd years accounts are submitted then a licence will be granted to play in Europe the following season, which will make it 4 season without European football)

0 3

RIFC started officially 18thDec2012 - so count from that date for 4 years... out of europe. At best.

ignoring spl/sfa punishments - like banned from europe for some years, which would not start till next qualify.

;( {The Ed039's Note - You are all wrong on the start date guys, these companies absorb or work with the other companies, so you can forget that one. And what SPL/SFA punishments have been ignored? Rangers have taken everything that has been thrown at them without a choice)

Rangers fan here, Have to say i genuinely have taken to CG (He's a character) so far however his political nous seems to have abandoned him on this. His response to the League reconstruction will and has given the SPL and Lawell the gift they needed as sure as night follows day certain sections of SPL clubs fans will automatically oppose the opposite view of anything Rangers representatives say. Common sense says if CG came out with such direct comments he was going to ensure that even the fans as bitterly opposed to the gerrymandering of their own SPL directors and representatives would at the least remain silent as they unfortunately can't be seen to support anything that suggests supporting the same view as Rangers representatives in public at the moment, due to the current environment. The shrewd thing would have been to give a platform for other viws to be put forward with a more understated comment from Rangers board. He could have given aci support through opinion polls of Scotish fans about the proposals instead of giving the SPL boards the gift of making it a Rangers against the rest of them narrative. So far the fans have been gagged because of CGs comments which is unfortunate as everyone knows this is not what he fans wanted. Our fellow SPL clubs have not been encouraged to give a view as CGs comments have drowned them out and i would be suprised if all of their clubs would have supported the proposals seeing as they had unanimously put forward different proposals. And finally Cg could have encouraged media pundits e.g Mr Traynor and his friends to explain the negatives surrounding the V deals as in the end it will be Sky and ESPN who decide wether the changes will go forward. And as an end note ESPN have already been reported as ready to pull the plug on their 10 game deal and that was before the shambles of the proposals. So to sum it up Charlie should have used his quite significant salesmen skills to attack the proposals on three fronts and let the proposals unpopularity with the
TV paying public kill them off.

Believable11 Unbelievable16

Dont you get it?green has to keep the siege mentality alive. He has great support at the moment but there might be rocky times ahead. Are you for or against the naming rights for the stadium? Lets see if he listens to the fans then as the vast majority are against it.And by the way traynor is rangers media director now, not a pundit.

17 1

Why bother abour league reconstruction as cg stated won't take rangers into spl or has he changed his mind on that as well {The Ed039's Note - Are you having a laugh? League reconstruction would see the SPL and SFL disband and merge as a single entitiy)

9 6

Op- he's going to call a spade a size ten shovel everytime and its not a bad thing, its time we had someone to stand up for us, why should he kow-tow to the spl or anyone else in scottish football

JG

6 16

Whenever I hear of someone being called a 'character' I imediatley think w*nker.
DB77

17 2

He is a chancer, keeps changing holding company - so no prolonging the date of the first year accounts. This typical scenario for asset strippers - as by time accounts do emerge value been stripped.

NOTE: Green needs 4 years of accounts to get UEFA licence to play in countries TOP division - so he can't play in SPL until 4 years of accounts produced, and as he keeps putting the date of 1st year account back, was June2013, now Nov2013... he is DELIBERATELY delaying entry to SPL - then spinning this as

"I won't go back to it" - when it could not be 5 years to they can enter top level.

11 4

So makes a big difference then ed still be spl teams slight change in name still spl though isn't it, still same teams cg has condemned as putting boot into rangers {The Ed039's Note - Yes but he is not dumb, he has said he would never return to the SPL as he knew that reconstruction was in the immediate offing, this way whatever it is called, it will not be the SPL, he knows that the top league is where Rangers need to be but his comments about the SPL were just to appease the masses)

2 0

Surely his 14-14-14 proposal would mean Rangers playing the same teams again next season? Unless his proposal is for it to start the following year. {The Ed039's Note - That is what he is proposing, 14-14-14 to start at the start of the 2014/15 season)

0 0

Ed. but that would mean whichever team that wins the bottom division before reconstruction will have to play the same teams again the next season. It won't be Rangers, obviously, but the principle is the same as what CG is opposed to with the proposal for reconstruction next season. {The Ed039's Note - I dont think that is the case, I think the alternative plans include plans for promotion/relegation, at least one team anyway or a playoff system)

mr green to sell the naming rights to ibrox for 2.5 million with only 1.5 million up front the name will still contain ibrox in its rename mr green must be really desperate for money before we get any where near the top leauge i can see us being in trouble financialy again our income aren't covering our expenditure so who at the club is going to cover these loses

Believable36 Unbelievable28

You only have to look at the numbers in the prospectus to see that hard cash will become a problem. Any company needs a credit facility, at the moment rangers don't have one.

29 21

@1, firstly Rangers have several million in the bank, and secondly they have a credit facility with Metro bank. Not that they need it, do the simple maths. A wage bill of less than £8million and ST income of around £12million. There is a surplus of £4 million there and there is plenty other sources of income.

9 20

Everything looks Rosie just now as green stacks up the cash that he walks away with but what happens after he's gone ?? how do you take the club forward whens he's exploited every avenue and emptied every cash option that's available

23 11

It's only press talk just now but 1.5 million to rename the stadium but include Ibrox in the title is good business. Every penny we can get is great news. 7 months ago we nearly never had a club so look on this move as another step in the right direction.

Iain.

21 22

@3 - Metro bank !!

branches only in england only at present. So money offshore already. {The Ed039's Note - Yeah we all forgot about that big Ocean between Scotland and England)

4 4

Selling stadium name is fine but how much of that into greens pocket for arrangement fees etc, and how much onto pitch ?

Green sold lots of players at sheffield and lots of the money walked away with them.

10 3

@5 i agree, what's in a name it will always be ibrox anyway, if sports direct want to give us a few million i am ok with that, what's the bet that others will follow our example as they always have done

JG

4 9

Celtic fan here, . Take Ashley's money, because whatever he calls it, it will always be known as Ibrox ., 2.5 million, no brainer, .

7 4

@9: or are Rangers just following Arsenal, Man City, Coventry, Bolton and Newcastle, to name but a few?

5 1

@3 ah another rangers fan bragging about all the money inthe bank! Do any of you have any conscience? Bet it breaks the hearts of all the creditors who's livelihoods have been destroyed by your rancid club!

13 4

Jg no sign of other club going into administration of liquidation, so doubt they will be selling the family silver.

history bought and sold for £1, ibrox sold for mill.... oh does not sound like biggest club in world.... biggest joke i. world maybe.

green bringing in half what he claims...

can see him making a mint. and gers loosing all the way along the ride.

9 5

To number 3 saying rangers have money in the bank we only have this cash in the bank due to the share issue before that the cash was starting to dribble away so what happens once this money is gone green then has to sell players no brainier we are losing money every month in third division we have upkeep of murray park ibrox non playing staff costs security and policing at games and a wage bill that is to high for this division the list could go on and on money will run out again i hope not but am sure it will

7 3

@11. Slightly out of date with Newcastle. The Sports Direct signs were ripped down months ago and it is back to St. James' Park.
Al

0 0

Haha sports direct stadium! Very good name for ibrox as its as big a midden as what every sports direct store is lol

5 3

Ed039 last time i looked england and scotland law was different, so might as well be offshore... no?

like to see any attempt by scottish fans to recover any money from english bank, just why do you think its in there, its untouchable. {The Ed039's Note - I think you need to look up what an offshore bank account is lol)

3 1

@13: they've still attempted it, though. Would Rangers be the first in Scotland or have others already done it?

1 0

Ed039:

"An offshore bank is a bank located outside the country of residence of the depositor, typically in a low tax jurisdiction (or tax haven) that provides financial and legal advantages."

no need for that ocean .... happy new year {The Ed039's Note - So England is a "low tax jurisdiction (or tax haven) that provides financial and legal advantages" ........... give it a rest)

3 1

@17 Ed I think the point the poster is making is that being in a different country it will be a lot more difficult to get money back being in England when green finally has enough and takes all the money and run! {The Ed039's Note - I dont think so)

3 0

@18 exactly. Why else squirrel all the ST and floation money into bank with other jurisdiction. And not one gers fans says - hey wait a minute what's going on here....?

Already seem Rangers and Rangers scotland - created as two seperate companies, one in english law, and one in scottish law - as they differ substantially in application.

Surely with £22 million raised the real banks will now beg green to open an account in scotland, so branches and managers on hand... or no do the real banks not trust green and imran within an inch of thier rickety business after the credit crunch.....

banks can't work with dodgy car dealers at present, too many fines being applied and bonuses clawed-back....

hard times.

i'm a Hearts fan and can see us ending up in the same boat as you guys very soon. Its clear who's running the sfa and I don't think they like either of us very much. Not one supporter of any club I have spoken to wanted 12 team top league but that's what we're gonnae get. As far as I can see the Scottish league is finished. Been to see Hearts v Liverpool, Celtic and Hibs this season and cost me more than £50 for me and my 6 year old son. So decided to start taking him to Newcastle utd and can get in for under £30 for us both. I love Hearts but i'm not the only one doing this. Hope everything works out for us both.

Believable20 Unbelievable11

How much is your ticket and travel costs? Smelling something here

8 3

Bull. Travelling to Newcastle?? On a Train? Or a Bus? Or Transported by the Star Trak Enterprise? I hear Scottie was a Hearts fan, Beam me up! {The Ed039's Note - Did the OP say where he lived? Plenty of Jam Tarts from Midlothian down to the borders)

7 2

Guy might be a pensioner and get cheap travel doug t.s.o

After a reasonably successful share issue, why are we not scouring the globe for the most talented 17 year olds ? Surely a salary in the region of £5k + in addition to our clubs history and playing in fron of 45,000 fans every other week would be enough to entice said talent to join our climb up the leagues. I appreciate every team in the planet is scouting young talent but we are in a different position being only able to sign youth players hence are more likely to be able to offer greater salary.

Believable4 Unbelievable18

£22 million raised, but £10 million hole per year. Then £10 million to rebuild spl-level team - eek that's tight alright.

Remember salaries (of all staff, not just the 10k/week goalie et al), upkeep of ibrox and murray park - tough for a div3 income base.

Clues keep coming out, hearts offered 60% early, rather than 100% on time.

rapid vienna - offered 60% early, but rejected.

Keeper only offered 1 year extension.

So lots of hints of penny pinching, why is ST money untouched in bank, and £22 million also in bank... unless that hides the truth, little left in kitty after bonuses, director salaries, staff salaries and taxes are accounted for.

12 10

Not all 17 year olds will be able to play in Scotland because of work permit issues, if they're from a non-EU country or don't have a passport from one (dual nationality etc.).

6 1

We don't need to sign anyone to reach th soon to be championship.
