Just been watching videos of us back in the day, I'm too young to remember the most of the greats. It saddens me to see the quality we have on show now.

14 Jan 2017 23:01:08
Dont worry matthew the good times will be back

14 Jan 2017 23:03:52
Don't despair Matthew. We will get back there. 50,000 fans will demand it.

14 Jan 2017 23:38:13
In feel sorry for the younger fans, I been fortunate to have seen some of the best players that have played for Rangers. I dread it in a few years when some of the players over the last four years will be inducted into our hall of fame, especially when I think of past players that haven't roll on the good times and decent players again cause we have a few the now that shouldn't be playing or wearing the blue jersey for Rangers!

15 Jan 2017 08:48:15
Barber 1 I think a lot of our fans can't grasp just how far we have fell 50,000 fans at home games doesn't even pay our bills we run at a loss every week the board have put in over 20 million just to get us to where we are now until we can get rid of Ashley I'm afraid nothing will change and that contract has seven years to run so fans can demand all they wish but we are where we are.

15 Jan 2017 07:51:51
The point is inheritance. that's why Davie Weir should more to the fore And Miller and why we need our own players coming from academy. Also so many feeder opportunities from USA Ireland etc.

15 Jan 2017 11:00:37
Mathew 94 we will get there, I remember the early 80's .3000 of a crowd at home and a good result was a draw, it all changed and it will again. This time through having a better economic plan and not through overdrafts, although great times and players, It in the end worked against us. Keep the faith!

15 Jan 2017 12:16:50
It was painful for me as a lad too as when I started going regularly to Ibrox Celtic were dominant and on their way to 9 in a row.

We did have some fantastic players back then like John Grieg, Sandy Jardine and my favourite Willie Henderson and were capable of winning in Europe but it still hurt.

Saying that when we did stop them getting 10 in 1975, which they all shouted and sang about, well that was a sweet feeling and I know it's going to feel just as good when we do it again.

15 Jan 2017 12:57:16
It is not just Rangers that are suffering from a lack of quality. Scottish Football is suffering in general because the quality, quite simply is not there anymore. Where I do sympathise with our younger fans is that they are missing out in seeing quality English and overseas players in our ranks because the Gascoigne's, the Albertz', The DeBoers' etc., are still there.

Just look at the players that Scotland produced in my youth, Law, Baxter, John Whyte, Ian McMillan, Davey Wilson, Willie Henderson, Davey Cooper, and that was just at Rangers. You had Miller and Macleish at Aberdeen, then you had guys like Gough and I dare say that the lot in the East End had some quality players through the years as well, with Jimmy Johnstone, Bertie Auld and Billy McNeill, immediately springing to mind. Scotland, these days, struggles to find eleven players of any quality, to play for their International Team

14 Jan 2017 19:37:54
Since the Gaffer likes a loan. What you think about Akpom from Arsenal?

14 Jan 2017 20:44:18
Akpom is a fantastic striker and would run riot in the spl! I can't understand it myself why warburton wouldn't chanc his luck with arsenal and try and get him on loan if I'm honest considering we're desperate for a striker!

14 Jan 2017 18:05:18
Alright folks, anyone know where all the teddy bears are getting their refreshments in Berlin tonight. Me and a mate are out here and looking to catch up with the lads.

14 Jan 2017 22:17:58
Head to Warschaurstraße

14 Jan 2017 22:19:34
Or here Am Zwirngraben 17-20, 10178 Berlin

14 Jan 2017 16:48:22
I see Joey Barton has scored on his return to Burnley. Did we let him go too early or was he just no trying at all when he was up here?

14 Jan 2017 18:01:40
No we got rid of a bad egg. don't think because he scored a goal in a game we've made a mistake

14 Jan 2017 18:32:28
Halliday set his dummy out because he didn't like what Barton evidently said and Warburton sided with Halliday. Perhaps if Barton had been playing well he might have been listened to!

14 Jan 2017 19:06:41
Do we know that's what happened for a cert?

14 Jan 2017 19:50:51
I asked the question because he scored after coming on as a sub in one of the top leagues in Europe without having kicked a ball competitively for 4 months. No doubt he will be shouting his mouth off on twitter later about it.

I know it was only one goal but that is more than he done for us against poorer opposition. I agree with both of you he wasn't playing well enough for the manager to do a u turn and he probably wanted out and would cause trouble to force the club to take action.

14 Jan 2017 19:50:52
To be honest I think Warburton thought we could have challenged Celtic hence him saying 2nd is nowhere for Rangers and they took a gamble offering big money to Barton and Kranjcar it became apparent early on that we weren't good enough and they saw a chance to get rid of Barton.

No matter what you think of Barton 8 games isn't enough to say how good or bad he was and I think the whole situation could have been resolved had Warburton really wanted to.

14 Jan 2017 20:18:42
Spot on tom. He told mw and a halliday a few home truths and they didn't like it. He's certainly got previous but sean dyche and the burnley players don't seem to have a problem with it and he will be a key player for them this season in a far superior league than the spl.

14 Jan 2017 20:33:54
if he had only done a proper pre season and warbs used him properly he would have been an asset on the park. off the park he is a total mouth piece and is cringeworthy every time he opens his trap. good ridance

14 Jan 2017 21:24:04
Playing now in much easier and overratedl leagie is the truth of the matter.

14 Jan 2017 17:58:50
Defo not trying, he quickly realised he didn't want to be here so he worked his ticket

14 Jan 2017 18:39:49
Barton should have replaced Halliday in the defensive mid role no doubt about it. I know its unfair as Halliday is playing out of position but a fully fit Barton has loads more to offer than what we have at the moment.

I think this was probably his frustration after the old firm 5-1 game and gave a few a character reference and told them in no uncertain terms they weren't as good as some of them believe they are.

Our loss in my opinion and the situation was terribly mismanaged.

14 Jan 2017 22:54:55
An easy league? your having a laugh the spl is one of the worst leagues in europe. Take out celtic and it's on a par with league of Ireland you only have to look at dundalk getting further than any Scottish team in Europa league and there basically a part time team. Epl might be over rated but I know what league I'd rather watch. (If rangers are not playing)

14 Jan 2017 23:15:00
Hooly you must be having a laugh, when was the last decent English prem game you saw? Totally over rated, and over priced league in the world, spl might not be the best of quality, but I've watched some cracking games this year. Stop knocking our game for a change.

15 Jan 2017 03:34:17
Barton's not under any pressure now. Burnley were expected to be relegated while Rangers are expected to win every game no matter how limited the team. Barton couldn't take the pressure, he's under none now so he will be much happier.

15 Jan 2017 08:27:09
Spurs v chelsea last Monday night.

15 Jan 2017 07:57:32
Take out Celtic and it's a very competitive league. Maybe not have the best players (which English leagues don't either) but just as competitive.

15 Jan 2017 11:24:17
Ya and on a level with league of Ireland.

15 Jan 2017 13:01:59
Alberta, you are 100% correct and that is the problem, the rest of the teams, ourselves included are dire in terms of quality sides that could compete in the EPL. That is where we need to get back to; it is a nonsense that a club with a support the size of ours is so poor in our pursuit of the league championship.

14 Jan 2017 14:36:33
Would like dodoo to start through the middle. and senderos should be given a game. because he had a bad debut doesn't mean he's a flop.

14 Jan 2017 16:42:04
I agree mate.
Dodoo scores 2 against thistle and hasn't been seen since.
Senderos had a nightmare at parkhead simply because warbs tactics that day where by warbs own admission wrong to say the least, . The midfield was non existent from start to finish.
Butcher and Gough would have struggled playing at the potato bowl with no midfield in front of them.

Out of both. Senderos should definitely be giving a chance next to hill in defence. because kiernan and Wilson are an accident waiting to happen.

I sometimes wonder if warbs and Weir really have a clue what they are doing.

Also why are we continuosly getting young players on loan from other clubs without getting a clause in the loan deal to buy them at a price if they do well,

Also can any fellow bear see the logic in getting rid of young Tom Walsh. ?

14 Jan 2017 16:53:33
I agree 100%. I have a feeling though he will stick to the usual team!

14 Jan 2017 18:25:19
No way can dodoo lead the line up front he looks like he has a lot of potential but he's too light weight the game against hearts he closed his eyes while trying to win a header it's got to be waghorns turn he scores the most when he's fit he's not great but goals are what we need

14 Jan 2017 18:36:08
If tom Walsh has been released I'm sad to hear that thought he would have came back and fought for place in squad. Wish the boy all the best.

14 Jan 2017 20:06:58
thought boy looked like a player but he couldn't get a game with st mirren! all the best wee walshie.

14 Jan 2017 18:43:04
I don't see Tom Walsh leaving as any loss to us he simply isn't the standard we expect at Ibrox and any youngster is going to have to be exceptional to be given the opportunity unfortunately as we need progress immediately, we as fans are demanding it.

With regards Senderos I would like to see how he got on alongside Hill. Heard a few folk say they're not fast enough but I don't see Wilson or Keirnans amazing turn of pace either.

14 Jan 2017 13:47:28
Who arranged the game tomorrow, us or them? Thing is, if it was them why did they want to invite us out there? Seems a bit strange. I know people posted about red bull interest in us which I feel is off the mark. Does anyone think we might come back with a new player?

14 Jan 2017 13:51:37
I hope we leave with a shite load of money being thrown at us by Red Bull, others might disagree

14 Jan 2017 14:01:01
Surely Red Bull will be impressed with 10,000 Rangers fans, (or more), at a friendly. Will just show them the marketing potential of being associated with Scotland's biggest club!

Will be delighted if this game results in a sponsorship deal or better with Red Bull.

14 Jan 2017 14:07:43
Wouldn't happen as both clubs could be in Europe next season. RB can't own 2 clubs playing in same competition or something like that. Well that's what I read somewhere

14 Jan 2017 14:23:48
Are you sure that's the case? They own Salzburg as well as lezpig

14 Jan 2017 14:28:42
New York also

14 Jan 2017 15:01:17
It's a strange match to be arranged as most big clubs like getting a break to warmer climes during any winter breaks.

As TomUSA says Red Bull will surely be impressed by the number of fans making the journey.

Does anybody know for sure whether Red Bull Salzburg and Liepzig can compete in Europe in the same competition?

14 Jan 2017 15:50:48
UEFA rules state that one company cannot own more than one team in European competition.

14 Jan 2017 16:06:26
What is the definition of ownership. Is it more than 51%? There again, sponsorship, and possibly a small %age stake in the Club would surely benefit them and us!

14 Jan 2017 16:23:41
I think we're all jumping ahead of ourselves here, fellow bears! I don't think there's any chance whatsoever, that red bull will actually buy us and become outright owners! I do however think there's a very strong possibility, that red bull will replace 32Red, as our new shirt sponsors, starting next season, when our 3 year deal with 32Red expires!

That in itself will be much welcomed finance for rangers! I suppose there might also be a chance of red bull sponsoring a stand at ibrox with the stand being named the red bull copland road stand as an example. I do think there's something going down here, as this friendly was thrown up and arranged out of the blue, so to speak!

14 Jan 2017 17:02:00
Given the Sports Direct situation, if Red Bull did Sponsor us with shirt advertising could we sell our football strips from outwit the UK rather than through Sports Direct, (assuming of course that Sports Direct has the souls agreement for selling strips in the U.K.)?

14 Jan 2017 17:05:31
Red Bull own Leipzig, Brasil, Salzburg and NY. From what I see they own a majority stake in each club.

14 Jan 2017 19:41:50
Well, i'd guess the definition of ownership would be whoever is the majority shareholder but I'm not looking into it much Leipzig seem to be their main focus atm.

14 Jan 2017 20:14:41
Let's hope there's some financial benefit coming out of it. Rumours have been flying. Worldwide brand who can hopefully see the potential of backing the worlds most successful football club.
Also great to see so many fans travelling for the match.

14 Jan 2017 23:17:45
Remember Ashley wasn't allowed to own more than 9% of rangers.

14 Jan 2017 23:49:04
They could plough millions into sponsorship and advertising without buying a single share. You can't 'own' a business without a majority shareholding. The Red Bull Academy and Training Ground? The Red Bull Stand? The Red Bull Suite (s)? Even The Red Bull Ibrox Stadium? I could live with any of these and many other potential revenue sources.

15 Jan 2017 14:17:45
I posted ages ago about the German set up where the fans own half the club. Question what do the fans on here think the number of worldwide rangers fan base is. Let's say it's 200,000, if each fan paid in £5 per week, over a year that would give the club £52,000,000. If we did that for say 3 years we could be back on our feet, have better player and winning the league, plus hopefully getting into the champions league playoffs. I know some people will think this crazy but for me, I believe it could work. Another point I forgot to mention, season tickets could be bought much cheaper.

14 Jan 2017 13:02:50
Question? I'd just like to gauge from all the posters on here, in the past there's been players that at that particular point of time in the particular team of any given time there's been players we have signed some we had big expectations of but ended up being crap while at the the Bears, likes of mabey Nuno Capucho, Karl Svensson, Oleg Salenko, Duncan Ferguson ect ect what's peoples thoughts and can they think of anyone that we slated and thought were rubbish at the time due to the quality players we had but would take for our current squad in a heartbeat as I'm sure we could think of a whole squad of players that didn't make the grade at the time but if we had them now as they were back then because they'd be way better than most of what we currently have at present.

14 Jan 2017 13:17:15
Vukic Hutton Charlie Adam Whittaker John Fleck Daniel Cousin

14 Jan 2017 13:19:42
Be easier to tell you who I wouldn't take tbh! The squad we have at present is miles off rangers class.

14 Jan 2017 13:33:49
Totally unfair to include big Duncan Ferguson, he was hounded out of Scotland by the referees and the SFA.

Right now I would gladly have Charlie Adams, Daniel Cousin And Hutton back in the team. All three would make a significant difference to the current team. They are all of a significantly better quality than what we have today.

14 Jan 2017 13:51:30
Daniel Cousin is 39 and has retired. Surely, having retired, he can't be better than what we have. Hutton and Adam would make a difference. Both in early 30s, so maybe stop gap. We really have to be looking forward though.

14 Jan 2017 14:03:19
I didn't realise that Cousin was 39! As for Adam and Hutton I reckon we could get two or three seasons from them and Adam could easily play the Holding midfield role. Hutton just has to be better than what we have at right back just now.

14 Jan 2017 14:49:55
Dreaming of what could have been with Ross Mccormack, the lad is lethal in a notoriously competitive league no matter who he plays for.

Realistically Aluko, Hutton and Adam.

14 Jan 2017 14:36:16
Big Dunc would absolutely gallop into our team. Charlie Adam (though his lack of pace could be a sticking point) and Hutton would also get in the starting eleven no problem. If only we had a couple of good pros like Bocanegra and Weir at the heart of the defence and an Alex Rae type in midfield would be great.

14 Jan 2017 14:53:20
if its players we 'signed' and who didn't make the grade why have folk quoted hutton - he came through our academy and more than made the grade so much so we got circa 9m for him.

I'd say tugay - he cost 1m and cldnt quite 'make the grade' as our midfield was so good with likes of wee barry albertz gio reyna mccann kanchekskis etc but tugay was a class cntr mid who went on to do well at blackburn.

14 Jan 2017 15:02:51
Got to disagree TOM as i don't think Adam is a DM, I know you don't like Halliday in that posistion but Adam doesn't have the dig or the mobility to play there either imo

14 Jan 2017 15:40:14
Bert konterman 😂

14 Jan 2017 20:11:24
Daniel cousin is 39?

14 Jan 2017 21:44:12
Aye stone😂Did nobody see him on french tv doing the QA. With jerome rothen (remember him he was gumph), rothen looked like an ewok next to him

14 Jan 2017 10:33:52
I hope the lads enjoy the game in Germany and use it to learn.

Result for me 4-1 to Leipzig

14 Jan 2017 13:52:22
I can't see them winning but if both our new loanees play then it will give us a good indication of their quality. I don't suppose there is any chance that young Rossiter is fit to play part of the game!

If Warburton can play the best eleven and that means not playing his favourites then we could have a decent team out there and it would give us a good idea of how we might compete for second place and closing the gap on Celtic.

My team would be Foderingham, Hodson, Kiernan, Hill, Wallace, Hyndman, Windass, Toral, McKay, Miller and Waghorn. In terms of substitutes I'd be tempted to have the young lad we got from Raith Rovers on the bench along with Forrester, MOH, Wilson, Holt and, if he is fit, Rossiter along with a couple of our youngsters.

14 Jan 2017 14:31:08
I agree with team other than perhaps giving time to Dodoo. He needs a start to see where he is at. I am convinced there is a decent enough player there.

14 Jan 2017 15:48:24
Team looks OK, Tom but doubt Rossi ter will play. Didn't see him in any of the photos of this week's training on the club website which likely means he's still not fit, sadly. Also agree Dodoo should be given a proper run out up front now that Garner is going to be out for the next few weeks at least.

14 Jan 2017 16:10:49
Any idea whether Rossiter is back home for rehab, Liverpool Ger. I have heard rumours that he was struggling psychologically with the time he was out and that he was missing his football and his family?

14 Jan 2017 16:52:40
I think Supercooper passed on that rumour on here the other day about Rossi ter but I haven't heard anything about him being back down here, sorry Tom.

14 Jan 2017 18:34:21
Cheers Liverpool Ger.

14 Jan 2017 07:40:34
Toral, hyndman are they deals only until end of season or do we have an option to extend the loan or buy them?

14 Jan 2017 12:17:45
@liverboy - deals are only until end of season to give these lads game time before they return to their parent clubs. Toral has stated as much. Here's hoping they do the business which will suit all party's.

14 Jan 2017 10:18:20
End of season only if the reports are accurate.

14 Jan 2017 10:28:34
I think the're only with us until someone on here say's they are sh**.

It's a new version of reality football manger where the fans decide which league we'll play in next season by making all decisions for the manager.

14 Jan 2017 13:27:10
I don't think MW takes any notice of what anyone says on her BR65 nor dies it affect the team! They here to end of season as its that or nothing because were skint, I for one wouldn't have bothered as we would finiah 2nd without them anyway so any wage we pay them is cash we can't afford! Only bonus is we will see a decent player in toral for a couple of months before he goes! Imo we need to have every penny available going into the future of our team

14 Jan 2017 19:08:38
BR65 i seen that reg plate today. didn't happen to be you did it?
