Just watching the Portugal v Iceland game - Sigthorsson from Iceland, He looks a player!
Strong CF who is good in the air and knows where the goals are, mobile and closes down tirelessly - only 26

Hope you are watching MW.

14 Jun 2016 23:43:09
Was thinking that myself and a few more.

15 Jun 2016 05:08:24
RFC111, I'm sure he he would be good for us but at 6 million transfer value, you can forget it. He's contracted till 2018 plus 1 year option. 😭😭.

15 Jun 2016 07:30:04
Yeah just read he signed 2015 for around 2.7 million on a 5 year contract so I think that one is a no starter lol.

15 Jun 2016 07:39:48
Don't know where his 6 million value comes from but where is Dave Kings transfer funds for MW -?

15 Jun 2016 08:10:11
RFC111 Warburton doesn't spend big. never has. The most he spent was £1.1million on one player. normally fees were around 500k-800k. He picked up Andre gray for 700k. Warburton clearly doesn't want to spend money. he likes a bargain.

15 Jun 2016 08:38:27
RFC111 google his name make sure you get the right one go to transfer/ player profile, it tells you all you want to know!

15 Jun 2016 16:17:50
Scotman, players are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them and I think he was signed last year for 2.7 so can't see anyone paying 6 for him, no?

14 Jun 2016 21:06:22
My mates just came out of saughton Nick and said warburton is in there on remand for the aftermath of the cup final still awaiting trial.

14 Jun 2016 20:44:58
Do people understand that the transfer window hasn't actually opened yet and considered that perhaps we have signed all the released players we intend today the moment? Or as someone else has sensibly suggested, perhaps the other targets are in a tournament environment right now?

14 Jun 2016 21:04:27
Thing is mate, it has opened.

15 Jun 2016 00:56:18
Has it not been opened for like a week now or there about lifelongGer there's this invention called the internet and on it I'll whisper this bit "Google" just type in there Scottish transfer window 2016-2017 it tell you lots, chop chop son.

15 Jun 2016 05:36:27
U can only sign players from Scotland at the moment the window for the rest opens 1st July.

15 Jun 2016 08:12:47
Guys the Scottish window has opened. However nothing is stopping us from entering negotiations.

15 Jun 2016 09:36:54
only the Scottish window* is what that should say guys.

14 Jun 2016 22:27:34
I'm just glad the club can now keep the business in house with no one leaking anything.

14 Jun 2016 20:41:07
Mark Wright must be 52 at least.

14 Jun 2016 19:06:31
Mark warburton likes his permanent signings in by the start of pressure season a lot to do in 4 days I don't think so worring.

14 Jun 2016 20:29:14
Work is most likely going on in the background and some of our targets will be at the European Championship and Copa America so I wouldn't be too concerned!

14 Jun 2016 17:51:06
On a another subject, I was watching the England game the other day, did anyone else here the English fans sing cheer up Gordon strachan, how does it feel, to be sad Scottish b##t, with a sh##e, football team, or was I hearing things, now I'm a Scotland fan but I thought it was quite funny
Also I was sick watching the Ireland game yesterday as it should have been us playing Sweden, if only we beat Georgia, but we're just not good enough, and we won't be good enough as long as strachan plays the same old players.

14 Jun 2016 18:24:59
Everyone keeps referring to the Gorgia result but even if Scotland had won it would have made no difference. Poland and Ireland took 3 and 4 points from the World Champions while Scotland took the grand total of zilch. That was the difference although Strachan likes to pretend otherwise.

14 Jun 2016 19:25:31
strachan must go he has conned the suits at hampden.

14 Jun 2016 17:12:09
When do the SPL fixtures come out?

14 Jun 2016 17:52:31
Friday.

14 Jun 2016 17:53:43
Next week I think, but I might be wrong mate.

14 Jun 2016 17:55:18
Friday 17th june.

14 Jun 2016 17:57:11
Friday a think.

14 Jun 2016 18:37:33
Cheers. Looking forward to seeing them.

14 Jun 2016 21:10:54
Forgive me my ignorance but is there a new year old firm game anymore? The most hungover game in history lol.

14 Jun 2016 15:28:52
What's happening with Krankjar, I was excited by the prospect of this happening. Is it happening or not, is anyone informed enough to know if it happening or not, I know the sun said a 2 year deal is agreed but I'm having my doubts. Is it happening or not?!

14 Jun 2016 17:17:47
Donno if it's happening or if it's not happening. One minute folk are saying it's happening then the fact we are hearing nothing makes me think that it's not happening. One things for sure. We will have to wait and see what happens.

14 Jun 2016 17:35:57
I think things will start to happen more quickly when the squad arrive back to Murray park for pre-season which is Monday I think?

14 Jun 2016 17:57:09
The gaffer is on a coaching course at st georges park and squad back in auchenhowie on saturday 18th i think for pre season training so i think there will be news on players.

14 Jun 2016 21:47:15
Not seen krankjar at any petrol stations yet, will keep aw posted.

14 Jun 2016 14:41:22
awriet bears I don't like the fact we are looking down at league one to get players just because they are cheap or free.
I think we should be improving the quality by looking at signing defenders such as Daniel ayala big guy would be tremendous for us.

we don't need a lot like that but if we could get some1 of his calibre at cb and another as a striker instead od bradshaw then I think we would be going in the right direction.

14 Jun 2016 15:20:09
He's retired from football.

14 Jun 2016 15:46:06
Our last 2 signings have been from the EPL so I wouldn't be worried. It does t really matter what league a player plays in anyway. All good players have to start somewhere, look at Vardy/ Mahrez for example. It's more down to who's identifying them and fortunately we have one of the best in the business with Mcparland. Don't stress our signing policy is the best in Scotland right now, including Septic.

14 Jun 2016 17:38:33
Spot on recob, I never heard of hooper or van dike and they done very well for Celtic, it's all about having great scouts in place, and mcparland is the best in the business.

14 Jun 2016 17:41:16
Totally agree with RecBob; because a player is playing in a supposed higher level doesn't necessarily make him a better player.

Rangers' market has dramatically changed over the past few years and we are now in the bargain basement looking for a Vardy or a Mahrez when in the past we just went out and signed the finished article. This is why Frank McParland is probably going to the The Hat's most significant signing.

15 Jun 2016 07:42:35
Ayala hasn't really improves in recent years, would surely because over a million?

14 Jun 2016 14:38:29
Anybody seeing the bizarre story in The Herald about celebrating MW and how the gamble paid off. V strange, not sure what to make of it.

14 Jun 2016 17:39:59
Not seen it, care to elaborate my friend.

14 Jun 2016 18:31:33
Focus is on how the appointment of MW was a gamble that paid off for the Gers and that after such a successful season he has justified all of the hype surrounding. I just find the timing bizarre. May be wrong but feels like a piece of spin planted in the media.

Regardless good when everyone including the manager report back to MP next week and we can see, hear and feel progress in the countdown to new season.

14 Jun 2016 19:57:17
I get the impression it's a year in the job next week (mw+dw) and he's giving a review/ report. Nothing much to talk about as most of us watched it all unfold.

13 Jun 2016 19:45:49
This will upset some people, But warbs should be looking at a couple of former heroes, in particular Davis and especially greegs, before anyone raves on about leaving us, try to get the big picture, these were young men with glorious careers ahead.

They had mortgages much bigger than yours, school fees, cars to pay fir, and other outgoings, they also had advisors who would have disowned them i'd they hadn't gone immediately. I am true blue, I believe greegs is too, and Davis and Naismith, even after his ill advised statements, I'm sorry he ever got involved in the tv thing, greegs would send shock waves through the green side.

14 Jun 2016 14:35:27
Davis, yeah sure. Naismith, no.

14 Jun 2016 14:36:26
davis i would welcome back in a heart beat as he was the only one who made sure that we got a fee of sorts but doubt we could afford him,
mcgregor, naismith, lafferty. not a chance.

14 Jun 2016 14:13:11
Tomtom12 steve davis left us with his head held high mate, imho.

14 Jun 2016 15:51:40
Only Davis for me but I doubt he'd leave the EPL again, he starts most games.
Why the need for old players anyway, I'm excited about new potential players recruited by Mcparland, not rehashing the past. The football played when all they players mentioned were here was awful to watch anyway (albeit successful) , we've moved on and so have they.
McKay, Forrester and Rossiter are our future now, and believe me it will be a lot better to watch once it all clicks. I also have a funny feeling when we do eventually get to Europe it will suit our new system to a tee.

14 Jun 2016 17:42:02
Rangers could not afford Steven Davis, he has done really well at Southampton and is now very highly regarded down south, unfortunately for us.

14 Jun 2016 17:45:44
I think we need to look forward and never back. Richard Gough and Trevor Steven aside, very few players come back to a club and are successful.

As much I would love to see Davis et al back, I think we need to move forward with the Young Team and a few select old heads.

Greegs is arguably passed it, Naismith's second touch is a tackle and Girraferty, well I will leave it at that.

15 Jun 2016 02:06:13
One or two players that I'd like to see back at Ibrox but due to wages/ fee it ain't going to happen Davis being one, but got a GUT feelin that if we brought Fleck back he would fulfill his potential under Warbs and become the player we all thought he was going to be at the team he was supposed to do it with! I know we've got players in the midfield but we are still waiting on the Krankjar deal to materialise, dunno what it is but think the guy would excel with Warbs and co, I read that he is comin to end of contract at Coventry and although they want to keep him and think he was voted their player of the season he's stalling! Just my opinion on a player returning and one that's a real possibility, telling ye the boy would turn good, mixing the fact that he'd be learning a few things from Barton too and it sounds even better! ;)

14 Jun 2016 11:37:01
I want to help the Daily Fail with a new headline. Rangers started talks with MW and our captain at the same time. No word of his signing yet, HEADLINE talks between Rangers and Lee Wallace break down.

On a more serious note I wish the Euro's were over so we could get back to dreaming who we might be signing. I'd still love Tom Huddlestone class player, looks like being released, wages probably a big problem, mainly played DM but has played CB and far better than we have currently.

14 Jun 2016 11:17:17
Rangers say no interest in Bradshaw.

14 Jun 2016 12:48:29
Where did you see this information as I can't see it on any sights.

14 Jun 2016 06:57:51
I know we don't really want to talk about the other mob too much, but was thinkin that Brenda will be under huge amounts of pressure regarding qualification to the CL! I wonder if Dermot will accept another judge me after a year patter hence the 12 month rolling contract (oozes confidence eh) also think he's trying to make best of Brown situation, he knows he could get better without breaking bank but think he feels obliged to keep him in team, Brown will be benched after 3-4 months and again re: CL we will see ;)

14 Jun 2016 08:12:39
Imo rolling contracts are good as if it doesn't work out you don't have to pay to much to terminate the contract and if the manager wants to leave they aren't trapped.

14 Jun 2016 10:14:20
All the pressure is on Brenda Rodgers and Celtic, if Celtic finish 2nd it's seen as an awful season where if we finish second it's seen as progress.

Also the fact that Brenda hasn't won anything at all in his career so far and is on a really high wage (For a Scottish club) . so all pressure is on them.

Rolling contracts are a mixed bag, if your manager does poorly. you can release them without any crazy payoffs but if they do really well you can lose them for nothing and you don't get a say in the matter.

14 Jun 2016 11:15:08
Not strictly true.1 years notice has to be given by either side to nullify the contract so can't go for nothing compensation of one years wages would be payable by either side
. just like when Ally sat out his contract on gardening leave on full wages.

14 Jun 2016 12:59:35
Celtic always use rolling contracts, even Martin o'neil was on a 12 month rolling contract.

14 Jun 2016 13:50:24
think they will have a new manager next season as they won't want to be giving him a warchest every year I've heard he has 15 million to spend this year and when celtic get beat to the title by us then he will be shown the door and that will be that for him! lol.

14 Jun 2016 13:02:06
Tbh all this Rodgers is under pressure stuff sounds a little desperate. The guys a decent manager and Celtic will be a completely different animal to the lame goat they were under Delia Smith.

Hopefully with further transfer business so will we, but let's be realistic about next season and give our manager and team a chance to grow without putting u realistic pressure on them to win title in first season back. It won't happen, will take 2-3 years of hard work and good recruitment for that.

14 Jun 2016 14:17:16
Delboy9 martin oneil was also on a tax free contract just like every signing since, as celtic have paid no corporation tax since the year 2000, all the crowds they brag about, and the profit they have made, yet no corporation tax.

14 Jun 2016 20:02:58
I think Rodgers will be a duck egg in the job, the reason being he wasted an absolute rake of Liverpool's cash on dross and only really looked good for one season due to Luis Suarez. And I think he'll crack under the pressure from the GFITW. Then when he takes it out on the players he will lose the dressing room. They don't call me ye olde soothsayer for nothing. Mark my words.

14 Jun 2016 00:46:59
Right Bears, subject that ain't hugely popular and one that ain't going to happen for some time, but was thinking who would I want to see at Ibrox when Magic does go? Was thinkin that the best choice for a few reasons would be Weir, not only because he will have learned his trade from Warbs but whoever he does go to and we all think it will be an EPL team of a considerable size and we know that he would love the Spurs job, so say he did end up at Spurs and Weir stayed then we would have in place the makings of a great realationship between the clubs regarding player development Weir may even be able to hold on to McParland tho that would be long shot! The only other guy at the moment I would like to see at the helm would be Rednapp! He understands how big a club like Rangers are and as for wages he's made his money and don't think it'd be a huge issue. I've always liked Harry and it seems he and Warbs have a good realationship. So I know it's a sh#*#y subject but one that was rattling around my nut! I hope we hold on to Warbs for as long as poss but that'd be my opinion regarding the future., . go easy Bears :)

14 Jun 2016 05:32:14
It's something people don't like to talk about but I agree take rednapp all day he's an underrated manager who should have got a top four epl team but I think he's the next England manager and if warbs does go weir and definitely mc p will be off aswell there a team there selves now hate it to happen if Dave King is seriously not willing to give him what he deserves then I can see it happening if a player has a great season he's rewarded with a bigger deal I think he's earned a bigger deal we should start a warbs wages whip round and show we want him hear to keep building on what he's started.

14 Jun 2016 08:14:46
I got to laugh at people who say give him what he deserves (contract of over £1m per season) but slated ally for having such a contract.

14 Jun 2016 08:20:38
Albertz

Maybe you weren't aware but Ally was a truly awful manager whose teams played some of the worst football seen at Ibrox, he lied to the supporters about not knowing how much his contract was and endorsed every chancer that came into the club. That's why he was slated.

14 Jun 2016 08:21:14
No offence op mw hasn't a hope of getting the spurs job. And the talk about him getting a top epl job is ludacris. Unless he does something out of the ordinary over the next few seasons it will be a championship club he goes to. You only have to look at other old firm managers who have left. Smith ended up at an everton team with no money and fighting relegation. Mcleish went to Birmingham even lennon who done a decent job especially in the champions league ended up at Bolton.

14 Jun 2016 09:43:43
Hooly you it looks like you are saying Lennon achieved more than Smith and McLeish?
McLeish is statistically one of the best managers to have graced the SPL.
However, I do agree with your point that not many recent Old Firm managers have gone on to bigger or better things.

14 Jun 2016 11:02:34
Anyone think Ian Cathro will be linked with the job again whenever Mark Warburton departs?

Young coach with little experience. Kind of wondered why he was linked in the first place before the club appointed Warburton.

How about Michael Laudrup with his brother as assistant. If Warburton was to take Weir.

14 Jun 2016 12:59:17
Not saying that at all. Mcleish in my opinion is underated by most rangers fans. What he achieved on a tiny budget compared to other rangers managers was exceptional. Also I rate stubbs and he ended up at the bottom of the championship with Rotherham.

14 Jun 2016 13:02:16
When warburton leaves him and weir will leave together, as both of them are a team, but I understand were your coming from.

14 Jun 2016 14:02:30
people only want to be assistant for soo long and I think being rangers till he dies, if weir was offered the job after warburton I think he would take it. That that would be the best option for rangers!
on the other note if warburton wins us the title first time round that I would say is exceptional enough to merit a top team coming in for him especially the style of play he stamps on his teams.
If so i'd hope he would stay to have at least one pop at Europe and enhance his chances of a top team like spurs coming in for him.

14 Jun 2016 06:36:23
Why are we even talking about a new manager already? Get a grip. Everyone being so negative that things are quiet at ibrox I for one am glad our business is no longer all over the news. Manager goes on holiday and your looking at his replacement.
