once again the English give us reason to dislike them.
why NO mention of Rangers in Gazza's interview ? He once said Walter was the greatest thing that happened to him. could the English producers not stomach such praise to a Scot ?
Also, who does Doncaster think he is ? A British cup ? He should be organising a complete revamp of the Scottish game instead of trying to get into fantasy island !!Get a 20 team league going before the game dies of starvation here.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Couldnt agree more, living in england and there is hardley a jot of infomation or praise.

4 2

What planet are you on pal lazio and everton wernt mentioned and there was just a little bit about spurs it was an interview about his private life nothing mentioned about transfers, and i welcome the british cup makes it moe interesting

5 4

Everton were mentioned. I'm making the point as a Scot and a fan, when he was living in Kilbarchan, Sir Walter kept him out of jail !! so he should have given credit to him for that.
Regarding the British cup idea, do YOU want to find us getting beat by Chesterfield like we were before in that mickey mouse competition ? None of the big "British" teams would enter like before also, so the competition would be a distant fourth behind the league cup

1 2

Sorry bud but a British Cup would be the only way to get us toward the 20 team league you want without clubs going under.

With a 20 team league you only play each other twice. Most SPL clubs would struggle without the 8 or so old firm visits per year.

If both sides of the border scrap the league cups. Make a british cup. First four rounds no SPL or Prem clubs (like FA cup). The money lost with less OF games would be re-couped with playing larger english clubs.

The league cups which are struggling anyway would be re-vamped and may be more attractive as a british cup.

SPL could go to 16-20 teams neaning there would be some teams that would always be mid-table and could afford to bleed younger players without the threat of relegation. This would be positive for the national team as young scots would get game time.

So Good for SPL, Good for Scot team, Good for UK clubs(inc Welsh and NI).

Here here one of the best posts ive read in ages.

1 1

Wholst i agree with a lot you say, i still do't see EnglishPL sides being interested. Bear in mind most of them moan about the league cup and some too about the fa cup, and they put out reserve teams, which is actually doing the public out of a faid deal since they still charge full prices. The game is all about money these days, and Scottish, Irish and Welsh sides bring nothing to the table to entice the big teams to participate. Your ideas are good but they just wouldn't work because of the finances.

0 0

I agree that the big issue here is getting the English teams interested.

However the league cup on both sides of the border is a wash out already. So really they are no worse off. Combining this with a British Title may sway them. But yes that is the stumbling block. My main point is this is the only route Scotland has to being in a financial position to increase our league size.

So happy for the Scotland U21s tonight beating Holland, I was actually surprised with the quality coming through had players like Leigh Griffiths on the bench with Jordan Rhodes running the show upfront. Ross Perry (Rangers CB) was solid and Gregg Wylde had a very good game and got in some great crosses.

why is john fleck not getting a chance with the scotland u21s?

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Because he's been rubbish u need to earn a cap call up he's not earned it.

5 1

He hasn't been rubbish, he hasn't had a game that's the reason he's left out. He has more ability than probably everybody who's in the Scotland u21 squad. If that boy got a run of games he would show what the hype was all about i'm confident of that.

4 3

Never truer words spoken, such a frustrating player, wish he would come good already but need to exercise patience...Charlie Adam, never again shall we be so stupid!

Ben & Lad

3 4

Sure he has not had games because when given a rare opportunity he has not done it, sorry to say but it looks like he believed the initial hype and thought he was already a top man.

2 0

How many other players are being left out of the scottish national though? boyd, fleck and (althogh he refused to come back) B. ferguson. and thats from our (mostly old) squad. what about up and coming quality as well obviously this result show their quality, dump levin as he is a complete amateur and bring back walter smith and for good measure put in dorin goin.

1 1

Boyd and fleck havnt earned cap call ups and fergie doesn't want to play. What's ur thts on it ed? {Ed001's Note - I can see why Fergie doesn't want to play, he is coming to the end of his career and he is taking the money over his country. Understandable, all those boozy nights out can't be cheap.....}

1 0

Because he is not good enough. I think that about answers your question.

Fergie would not get a game anymore! Simple as that. As for Fleck he is done, time to move on to a new club my fat friend.

A question to all. What was your best moment in following Rangers and your low point?

Best moment for me was well two being at Tannadice for us winning 9 in a row what a night. Being at Fiorentina Stadium Stadio Artemio Franchi for us getting through to the UEFA Cup Final.
Low point losing to Zenit Saint Petersburg in the UEFA Cup Final. But the day in Manchester I will never forget for all the right reasons.

Followfollow81

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Best for me was at Ibrox for 8 in a row, when Gazza scored the hat trick against Aberdeen.
Worst are either the Uefa Cup Final or not achieving 10 in a row when the team just ran out of steam even after beating Celtic twice in a week. Blue4ever

Best- UEFA Cup semi final penalties v Fiorentina

Worst- Uefa Cup final loss

Best was when Gers won the title up at Aberdeen or drawing with Celtic at ibrox with 9 men gough scored worst was getting beat fae septic 6 -2 I watched it on big screens at ibrox

Big Jock Wallace Winning the Treble for the second Time - against the odds as the tic had a very decent side that season and they won nothing.

How good would G Wylde be if he could only kick with his right foot. Well done the Scotland U-21s great performance over the mighty Dutch so its not all doom and gloom and while I'm on my high horse and to show you that I'm not that bitter what a great wee player J Forrest is for them over there. Leethepee :0

Believable4 Unbelievable0

He has to learn to kick with his left foot first!

Cross ratio is very poor, but he is a decent player.

This is what Graham Speirs wrote today.

I told Rangers in May they should appeal their FARE case because I believed they’d win. RFC chose not to. Interesting to see Celtic’s tack.

I just don’t get Celtic’s complaint. Rangers have been embarrassed for years by sections of their support. Now it is Celtic’s turn. Sort it.

Why would we want to sign oconnor he's past it and not very good. Methinks media making up crap.

Believable7 Unbelievable4

He's much better than aluko that's for sure, past it he's 28 we have a captain that's nearly 41 who was a 1st team player last year at the age of 40.

Hey.. was wondering when does this tax case get sorted 1 way or another.. i knew it was in november but were almost halfway through November.. in my opinion it wont be a ad as th media or them bunch tink it will be ... on our way to 4in a row

Aluko actually might be a good bit of business if we go for him. Hes skillful and is quite pacey. He could maybe play the Naismith role? Anybody think so?

Rory

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I completely disagree he wasn't even getting his game. I remember him being benched a lot. Just another cheap option I'm afraid also i think he's a bit lightweight for rangers. Scary time

3 3

To the post above, do you even know who he is? The boy had a tremendous run in the Europa 2007, in particular against locomotive and Bayern. He is 22, fast, 2 quick feet and now very strong.

For next to no fee or even free he worth a punt, easy.

It's 2011 now 4 years have went on since then, how has he been without a club for so long? Another cheap buy.

0 4

A question to the poster that goes by the name Scary Time.

Was Goian and Bocanegra not cheap options? Look how these guys have turned out. Being a cheap option doesn't mean they will be rubbish does it? If he signs on a free transfer give the boy a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Who did you tell? You never told me or I would have past on the information to Ally. You should be our chief scout whoever you are. I will put your name forward for it oh that's right I don't know your name lol.

He might be heating the goals but he's also getting 3 times the wage. We all need to wise up there's no money in the Scottish game & i for one am pretty worried about it. Don't get me wrong Im sure we will be ok but the standard of football is going to be scary.

1 0

Teams will start to concentrate more on youth systems as the way ahead, and no more cheap and nasty foreign options..... I mean, no harm to the guy,but is Ortiz any better than Gregg Wyde ? We should be and will be encouraging our own in the very near future. Rangers 'Til I die

No, they are both equally bad unfortunately.

Right bears... As we know we have been disciplined for siging in Europe and FARE have had a big influence on that, now Celtic face an investigation. Makes me wonder... Will Chelsea face a similar investigation after the Anton Ferdinand chants in Belgium? A fellow Rangers fan brought the point up on Clyde 1 last week and it was a great point. I think Graham Spiers made the point that UEFA fear the bigger clubs, so it's unlikely. We are two of the biggest clubs in the world, Fan base wise and history wise, yet we are treated like wee diddy teams in Europe because we play our football in the SPL. Chelsea should be treated the same way as the old firm are. Thoughts? J1985

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Old firm teams are wee diddy sides, gers got knocked out of Europe by utter garbage and celts lost to sion both clubs are a spent force and its only going get worse I'm afraid

3 0

J1985.

I have already raised this issue about the Chelsea and Celtic fan's chanting. I even took the liberty to email FARE and their response was that they don't investigate domestic matters, since when did Rennes play in the SPL??

The song in which Rangers fans were reported for was an anti-IRA chant, "Build my Gallows", I have stated this many a time before on forums across the internet. Now, if Rangers are to be punished for an anti-IRA chant, surely Celtic fans must be punished for singing pro-IRA chants???

Where is the logic?

TonyTheGer

1 0

Firstly both of us were in the wrong cetlic and gers so we deserve what we get but to the point about big teams not facing the same punishments ..... The OF are easy targets, why .... cos at fan level we still have a big enough stature for people to take notice wen things are done ie word gets about however on a footballing level we are now diddy clubs so uefa can get there job done well advertised without hurting themselves as the OF voice is only a whimper now.

Germinator

1 0

That response about a domestic issue just sums FARE up. Totally clueless!! There are far more serious issues in football that FAre should be investigating, like the racial abuse that players recieve in Russia, Roberto Carlos had to leave the pitch during a game because of it last season!! Yet we are punished for signing a song in Holland. If Chelsea aren't punished i'll be astonished!! Surely a similar punishment that we recieved should be the minimum they get? J1985

0 0

Chelsea won't be punished as FARE also said in their reply that they don't take any "3rd party" complaint as a serious issue??? WHAT?

So WHO is the culprit that reported Rangers then? Build my Gallows isn't even an offensive or sectarian song.

I think it's high time someone just came out and told everyone what songs are offensive and sectarian. The only problem with that is the fact Celtic fans are offended by, well...everything!!!

TonyTheGer

3 1

Let me get this right ,build my gallows , ive never heard it but sounds as if it might be about building a platform to hang people to death ,right ? yes my humble apologies for being so easily offended ( crazy crazy people with crazy crazy logic)fab1

0 1

Fab1,

May be a tad late with this reply but need to get my point across.

So, whenever you hear the word "gallows" you are offended?

You say you haven't heard of the song, so why jump the gun and comment about it??

(crazy crazy fab1 with crazy crazy logic).

TonyTheGer

0 0

Well if build my GALLOWS is not about building a platform to kill someone then what is it about ? and if it is any normal reasonable person would be offended about a song about KILLING people.fab1(ps any song about killing people of any race , religion or creed)

ed do you think the decision for the taxcase will be decided this week or do you think we will be waiting for weeks to see if rangers can make some kind of deal with hmrc {Ed014's Note - I doubt it will be this week and doubt any deal will be struck at this stage now.It is not the debt Rangers are contesting it is the penalties, they know the bill will need to be paid but are fighting over the fines incurred by it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed - that is wrong. There are two tax bills. one for 2.8 million that we are contesting a 1.4m penalty on. The 1st tier tribunal is for a 49m bill, we are contesting the entire liability of that case. {Ed014's Note - I am no expert on it all, sorry.

0 0

I read somewhere that it will be done near february

0 0

I thought the 49 mill was including the 1.4 mill tax bill ( + pelanties). and that that big tax bill was in the region of something like 45 mill

0 0

RANGERS are contesting both cases the 2.8 million & 1.4 million fine we are contesting on the grounds it is a tax bill that is over 6 years old hence the bailiffs being sent as hmrc can't collect this themselves, also the ebt case we are contesting on the grounds that RANGERS don't think they have a case 2 answer our legal team think we have done nothing wrong & they are using the point that hmrc only brought this matter 2 the fore after 10 years of using the scheme
clever f***ers in charge of every1's tax in this country eh
