If the SCO manager thinks Shinnie and GMS are International class SCO have no chance. Ross Mcrorie is better than shinnie and Middleton better than GMS to but name 2. (IMHO) . Mcleish is a great, man but he needs to return to punditry and put his feet up. Time for new blood throughout the FA. A pull through with a burning duffle coat required.

15 Oct 2018 07:47:50
I’m sure McLeish’s boy is an agent and agent of both O’Donnell and Shinnie, just saying.

15 Oct 2018 15:18:56
He's no an agent! he played football manager once! and signed messi! you've made a bottle of wine out a grape there .

NO LAFFING MATTER, Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty branded DISGRACEFUL by ex-Celtic and Arsenal striker Ian Wright for pulling out of Northern Ireland squad
Lafferty declared himself unfit to travel for his country's Nations League double header against Austria and Bosnia due to an Achilles strain.

So does this make grifhied a disgrace also? Typical Timothy response of your going to slate one player for 1 thing slate them all doing the same why pick out a rangers player when a celtic player did exactly the same, only grifhied actually is fit just carrying too much baby fat from all the kids he's had.

15 Oct 2018 08:27:00
Wright is just a babbling fool tbh. Hate listening to his England love fests unless they lose and lose heavily. He can't hide his disappointment.

15 Oct 2018 09:01:41
He's right though, why did he pull out the NI team if he's fit. You can't say what lafferty did was right in anyway.

15 Oct 2018 09:06:10
Tbh i don't think Wright has any great love for the dhims following his largely unsuccessful spell up here, especially after the gfitw shoogled his car a bit while he was making his getaway from the scene of a defeat! I remember him calling them neanderthals or similar. I've heard some pro Rangers stuff from him over the years, especially after 2012.

15 Oct 2018 11:16:41
I’ve no interest in NI so couldn’t care less if Lafferty pulls out of the squad.
The Thumb on the other hand has taken the huff with Big Eck after his snub. Not the type of player / attitude Scotland needs at this moment in time.

A lot of talk tonight, within social media that us rangers supporters are going to turn our betfred league cup semi final, into the paul gascoigne semi final, to show our genius hero gazza, how much he means to all us gers supporters! He's our hero and he's in the glasgow rangers hall of fame, who needs they sfa muppets and their tainted hall of fame, especially the way they've treated our geordie genius, paul gascoigne, who as far as i'm concerned, is the greatest footballer ever,
to have been brought to scottish football! Really do hope all us who are going to our semi final against the sheep mob, contribute and carry this special tribute out, for the one and only, paul gazza gascoigne! The greatest english footballer, of his generation! We'll show gazza, how much us bears love him,
though i suspect he already knows that! let's get all the gear on for the semi final, ie. jerseys with his famous name on the back, gazza t-shirts, blonde wigs, gazza masks, everything we can think of, in support of a maverick of a footballer, who this useless SFA chose to snub, which was shocking, especially so with the mental illness fight, gazza has fought,
throughout his football career and beyond!
GLASGOW RANGERS AND OUR SUPPORTER'S, LOVE GAZZA! THE PAUL GASCOIGNE, BETFRED LEAGUE CUP SEMI FINAL, IS THE TITLE WE SHOULD CALL THIS GAME AND WE WILL! let's GO AND PUT ON A SHOW AGAINST ABERDEEN, THAT PAUL GASCOIGNE WAS ALWAYS CAPABLE OF! GOD BLESS YOU PAUL GASCOIGNE,
"THE GEORDIE BOY CALLED PAUL!

14 Oct 2018 21:31:41
The SFA have embarrassed themselves yet again. Time for Doncaster and his team to step down.

14 Oct 2018 22:58:10
I agree with you on this, that if you have a FOOTBALL hall of fame it should be about what the player accomplished on the field alone. Few footballers are shiny white. Two who were both outstanding talents and worthy role models are Larsson and Laudrup, and in my opinion both better players than Gazza.
It is you who decide who your heroes are, not the SFA. Nobody I know gave a toss about the hall of fame before this.

I wouldn't make the Sheep game the Gazza game though, as you will more than likely get pumped. Make it a Dundee game or something.

14 Oct 2018 22:56:20
How on God's green earth can any Rangers supporter disagree with what Supercoopereleven has said. I have disagreed with many of his posts but really! Well said. I believe you will get your wish. thankfully.

15 Oct 2018 09:03:08
I'd rather we concentrated on winning the match and getting to the final.

15 Oct 2018 11:14:40
All rangers players etc should return award and withdraw from hall of fame in support of gazza.
Chance for mccoist to redeem himself, lead the way Ally.

15 Oct 2018 11:18:34
@sweep1 - this is nothing to do with the players but a tribute from the fans.

15 Oct 2018 11:45:28
Bang on union jack!

15 Oct 2018 18:32:05
I agree with sweep. Loved Gascoigne but Get the game won first or are you so arrogant to think we can just turn over the sheep and cheer about Gazza especially with no strikers.

15 Oct 2018 19:59:31
Gazza is a Rangers great who cares what anyone else in the SFA or other supporters think of him. He was superb for us and it was a privilege to see him play in a Rangers jersey. He should be honoured by us fans and where better than at Hampden.

14 Oct 2018 16:43:11
I've read with interest the thoughts on the Scotland manager, it's a difficult 1 because it's a strange job international football manager it's not always the best managers who are successful take my own country Sanchez and more so O'Neill have had success with a limited pool of players but with very little club managerial experience then we had Nigel worthington who got norwich promoted to the the premiership but was atrocious as NI manager. Wales had the same with Coleman who only lasted a short time in club football. Sometimes you have to take a gamble and not go with the safe bet like Mcliesh was.

14 Oct 2018 19:18:44
Not go with the safe bet of McLeish? How is his appointment a safe bet?

14 Oct 2018 19:36:34
How on earth is McLeish a safe bet? McLeish was out of work and i didn't see many others queuing up for the job.

14 Oct 2018 20:02:41
He had done the job before and was relatively successful.

14 Oct 2018 22:59:38
A safe bet to be sacked I’m afraid.

14 Oct 2018 11:22:19
We change of football subject here guys, but nonetheless, an important one, as its our country's fate, i'm speaking about here. Having read michael stewart's column, in this morning's sunday sun, i tend to agree with him, which i don't do often! He states that big alex mcleish shouldn't have been reappointed as the scotland manager and now he has, he should be removed, as scotland are going even further backwards, under his watch! I totally agree with him. Alex mcleish was a good manager years ago and was terrific as rangers manager! I really liked mcleish, but he's burnout as a manager now, IMO!

Ed, could you please run a poll for me, gauging who we would want as the scotland manager, if mcleish left his position? The manager choices being guus hiddink, jurgen klinsman, davie moyes, stevie clarke, neil lennon, derek
mcinnes, scott gemmill or any other! Cheers ED, would be much appreciated mate!

Scotland Manager Poll

14 Oct 2018 11:32:33
Supercooper

Why are you reading that dreadful excuse of a paper? After their truly disgraceful coverage of the Hillsborough disaster who in their right mind would entertain this piece of filth?

14 Oct 2018 11:57:00
Also should have an option for "couldnt really care" if you want to cover all bases!

14 Oct 2018 12:18:52
That’s a terrible paper to read Supercooper why read it?

14 Oct 2018 12:21:56
Important? Not to me. Literally couldn't care less.

14 Oct 2018 12:23:13
I'm not going to try and defend his tactics because they haven't been the best. However in terms of selection, who do we actually have who is better? In particular the defence!

Trying to fit Robertson and Tierney into the same defence doesn't work but do you play a CB just because that's his natural position?

We line up with Robertson, Tierney, Mulgrew and Souttar (or some other random) . Basically our whole defence is Left Backs.

Any one who comes in will have the same problem unless we as a nation start to produce some decent CB's.

Middle to front I feel we should have enough quality to beat teams like Israel and although I detest the guy an in form Leigh Griffiths should be starting ahead of the likes of Naismith. Watching him the other night, his positioning was terrible. Comes far too deep into the midfield.

14 Oct 2018 13:15:32
grant89 - scotlands managers of the time had no poblem playing Jardine and McGrain in the same back four, boh were right backs. Why not the same now or is it that McLeish is hell bent on playing a back 3. This would not be a problem if the players chosen played that system for their clubs.

14 Oct 2018 13:17:06
Other than the 2 goals against England that were brilliantly taken I don’t think Griffiths has done much playing for Scotland. Tbh I don’t think he really wants to play for Scotland and has alliegences across the water. He also took the huff after being dropped and refused to play in this round of fixtures. Are we that desperate that we want players to pick and choose when they play for us and childishly pull out when it suits? Fact of the matter the current Scottish team are full of average players. We have 1 genuine top quality player who is a left back and a very good keeper other than that no one else of quality required to qualify for tournaments.

14 Oct 2018 13:31:09
Bindo who is your 1 genuine quality left back, IMO we have 2.

14 Oct 2018 13:55:10
Whos the two then bluetoon?

14 Oct 2018 14:30:26
JYF - I'm not afraid to say Tierney and Robertson. Still awaiting Bindo giving his choice.

14 Oct 2018 14:30:46
Git a grip of yourselves! I read the article online and asked a question to everyone on here, regarding the scotland situation! I don't condone one bit what that newspaper done and reported, regarding the Hillsborough situation, which was a terrible tragedy! So guys don't ever suggest i do, just because i read an online article in that newspaper!

14 Oct 2018 14:39:03
my point would be blue that robertson has played in a european final tierney has been part of a defense that takes REGULAR humpings in europe, top quality my arse.

14 Oct 2018 15:04:31
Obviously it’s Robertson a guy playing for 1 of the best teams in Europe.

14 Oct 2018 15:09:00
Supercooper

No one said you do however I am merely pointing out that I’m surprised you read such a paper. A paper who reported their “truth” about that tragedy. Believe they accused Liverpool fans of peeing on police trying to help the victims and fans stealing from the dead. It’s just strange you are against someone like Naismith coming back (something I agree with) but are happy to read a paper that can print such things.

14 Oct 2018 15:13:53
Some on here unwittingly seem to be supporting the anti Mcleish originating from the dark side. Broonie persuaded the Thumb to pull out from squad and now they have persuaded Tierney to withdraw. All actions intended to undermine the current Scotland manager.

14 Oct 2018 15:23:29
Bluetoon

Robertson and I’m shocked you have to even ask. He is playing for one of the best teams in England and excelled last season in their journey to the Champions league final. As Jyf says what exactly has Tierney done to be considered such a great left back? Anytime he has come up against quality opposition in Europe he and his team have been taken apart. However if playing well against Hamilton, Partick Thistle and Dundee means you think he is a great player then fine. Maybe myself and Jyf aim a bit higher?

14 Oct 2018 15:23:46
Was McLeish really our best option? My question is - who would take it? Its a tough job being our national manager, fact is McLeish has been away from football for to long, i actually cringe listening to him now. It doesn't help when players like Griffiths spits the dummy out. Its a bad day when the players make excuses not to play for Scotland or is it they don't want to play for McLeish?

14 Oct 2018 15:42:25
TBH, not enamoured by Mcleish but TBH when you have **** to pick from your going to struggle. However to the point in hand, who else available or want the job?

14 Oct 2018 16:00:59
Bankie

It is a pity Brown didn’t pull out of more squads for all the use he was in a Scotland jersey. On McLeish I think the game has moved on from him and he isn’t what’s needed going forward.

14 Oct 2018 16:17:34
Bindo, because i read an article, doesn't mean i agree with the certain newspaper regarding the heartbreaking Hillsborough disaster! We all read articles written by certain outlets from time to time, who have written some very poor articles along the way! So don't bring anything like that into it,
when all i was trying to do was gauge what us scotland supporters felt, regarding michael stewart's article! Nothing more, nothing less,
nothing untoward! IMO you shouldn't have brought up anything to do with the tragic events at Hillsborough,
when i never mentioned it! No need whatsoever mate!

14 Oct 2018 16:29:18
Supercooper

I think the point being is that why even bother reading anything from that paper? Don’t think anyone is saying anything about you personally or about your character. The article in question was shocking and as a result a lot of people don’t read it especially in Liverpool. Let’s face it they aren’t slow in printing rubbish about us too.

14 Oct 2018 16:40:20
bluetoon - Tierney and Robertson are good players but I wouldn't quite class them in the same bracket as Jardine or McGrain.

On Griffiths I'm not saying pick the guy even though he doesn't want to play. I was just making a comment based on the past few seasons. He scored 40+ goals in our top national division (some will debate the quality there) but players such as Martin and Fletcher were chosen who were woeful.

But anyway if we could get 2 reasonably good quality centre backs then I think we would have a much better chance.

14 Oct 2018 17:15:16
Supercoop, believe you started off this thread referencing Michael Stewart’s negative comments on the Scotland manager. That is the same Michael Stewart who had 5 days training with us at Murray Park under Mcleish when Rangers manager. Need I say more. Mr Stewart carries a lot of baggage.

14 Oct 2018 17:57:01
Grant89

Chance of what?

14 Oct 2018 22:10:28
of actually winning some matches and maybe making a tournament.

15 Oct 2018 08:10:38
Tierney is top drawer lads, let's be honest. I take the point about him playing in a shoddy defence but Maldini wouldn't be able to do much with those muppets. Tierney will end up at Man U or similar in the near future.

15 Oct 2018 14:05:09
No he isn't. He is a decent player in Scotland and constantly found out in Europe. Man Utd player? Nearly spilled my coffee!

15 Oct 2018 18:27:18
Tierney is maybe top drawer in the current Scotland team standards. Unfortunately that's not saying much. A bit like saying you are the most sh*ggable out of the ugly sisters!

15 Oct 2018 19:45:09
Snell, can’t recall if that was Donald Trump and Joey Barton but think we get your point.
