Rangers are the thirteenth best supported
club in Europe, absolutely remarkable. A big
pat on the back to all Bears who have stuck
by the club in their greatest hour of need.

This is not a point scoring exercise but Celtic
are number 20.

You know for the standard of Scottish football
it is unbelievable that two teams from Glasgow
attract so many punters, can you imagine if the
football was watchable.

Believable35 Unbelievable27

On the account of the fact your tickets are more than 70% cheaper than everyone else's in the top 20

Agree15 Disagree10

Season ticket and match day league ticket prices are about 30% cheaper
and any cup game prices are the same across the board, so don't know where
you found them at 70% reduction.

More rubbish from Green. Buying back the 16 shares in Arsenal? Who is selling Arsenal shares? that's right, nobody. There is a battle for control of Arsenal, and nobody is selling. Green, would say anything to try to please. This is such rubbish. Those shares are gone forever. Does Green think Rangers fans can not use Google?

When is mr green going to start the work on the stadium think he earmarked £6mil for that or was it £9mil. Maybe use the shirt deal money. look mr green stop saying things just do them & then you will shut people up stop all the smoking mirrors

Agree22 Disagree9

Greens too busy on a worldwide jolly to supporters clubs. All business or first class. Nice work if you can get it. Keeps him out of the way of any embarrassing questions for a while

Agree12 Disagree3

Any work on the stadium would surely be done at the end of the season. Correct on the arsenal shares though there gone for ever. He really should engage his brain before speaking. Or does he think the fans are that gullible they believe anything he says.

Agree16 Disagree3

It was 9M for essential maintanence -and NOT new seats for filling in the corners for increased capacity. has someone asked the question about why this work not done before. has Ibrox not got a maintenace manager.

Agree6 Disagree1

There has been no investment by the club on anything, don't forget it was the fighting fund that laid a new pitch

Brilliant to see Hegarty and Aird sign extensions. We all know we need to improve drastically but with some additions in the summer, well September, and a couple away perhaps, we will continue the climb. We all need to keep supporting our team however we can, renew season books or buy tickets for matches when you can afford it it. We will come through this stronger together. we are all the Rangers family, keep believing. Govan Fr CPL

Great to see the young lads signing on for the future, so let's boost this with the addition of some hot prospects [under 18. ] from other clubs. The future is bright so let's make the most of it as we could offer chances to the the potential stars of tomorrow.

A deal of hope being pinned on the current crop of youth players coming through from Murray Park

Where they not the same squad that has been soundly beaten in every youth and under age competition by Celtic for the last five years.

Their CV looks a bit weak - but maybe Ally and his coaching staff can turn them into world beaters

If Rangers want to get value for money ie save some they should do what Saracens rugby are doing, they just installed artificial turf at a cost of £500k it lasts for 8 years, and they will lease it out to local sports clubs when they're not using it, minimal maintenance, no more under soil heating bills, no more sun lamps bills to make it grow and if they can play rugby on it why not football, it's time to look forward not back.

Had to laugh. Celtic fan on sky text asking why they hadn't made official complaint to uefa regarding ref on Tuesday night? The obvious answer is they have complained so much about ref's and linesmens over the past few years they have run out of stamps ha ha.

Feel a little bit sorry for big am rose getting all the flak for the result the other night. After all he has just won the ACON mind you he was playing in a team then with ten other good players. Lol.

Watched tv last night and the thoughts of those
on the panel seemed to think that it would take
us years after getting to SPL to get back near the
top, and I think that is rubbish.

This is not Italy, England or Spain where there are
many big teams, in Scotland there are two.
I hope that Green goes easy with the money
spent and put some away for our return to the
top league. Let's be honest by spending £5m we
can finish second and that brings Europe money.
In Italy or England you would need to spend £40 m
plus and may struggle to stay in the top div.

Not here, and remember the higher leagues will
attract better players. Ally recently said 90% of
players said no, that won't happen.

I believe it may take us a year to be competitive in
SPL.

I would remind those Celtic fans that I can remember
saying to a pal when 9 in a row was happening, that
Celtic would never catch us, with the CL money
every year, how things can change!

Believable15 Unbelievable17

Just one point regarding Europe. Three years accounts are needed to gain a Euro licence to play in the SPL. Mr Green really needs to get a move on getting audited accounts out asap, time is moving on.

Agree19 Disagree3

Op what a load of tosh.

The rangers finances will not increase drasticaly if they reach the SPL.

yous are currenlty paying black, alexander, sandanza, kyle etc in excess of 7k a week. your struggling to keep your finances in check so I don't think shelling out anymore on wages is viable.

rangers won't be in europe until 3 seasons from now minimum and that's if there lucky enough to fluck a cup win.

also do you think ally will walk without any compensation (20k a week,,, wonder what he would be due)

also don't see another share issue in 3 years to raise enough capital to plough into the squad.

so tell me this, were is this enourmous warchest going ot come from. because we all know the apparent money raised for share issue will be long gone by then

Agree12 Disagree0

I heard or read somewhere uefa don't look for 3 years accounts but require a club to be playing in a professional league for 3 years.

Agree8 Disagree12

@4 well you should read proper things as even uefa came out and said you need 3 years accounts, keeping holding onto and loving all the false hope

Agree5 Disagree2

@3 - correct, there won't be an spl by the time we get back to the top division, you may have missed it but there is going to be reconstruction, the spl will join with the sfl into a new organisation

16 Feb 2013 16:05:54
@6. regardless of what top league is called 3 years of audited accounts will still be required to qualify admittance to european competitions and as there are none on show as yet and not likely to be until late 2013. you could be in top flight for a couple of seasons before qualifying for any euro excursions. maybe that is a point that should be brought up to Mr Green and as for all these glamour games mentioned ( man united - LA Galaxy- Newcastle- arsenal) surely dates and venues being announced would be more believable or are these just more promises to keep you guys on board. ? let's face it not one team in the country are commenting on pre season friendlies/tourneys at this time so why hughie Green doing it or is he just hoping oppertunity knocks for him. lol. JohnnyG

Agree6 Disagree0

You need 3 years of audited accounts to play in the top league as well as European competition. I'm sure the SFA will again try to bypass the rules and let rangers in regardless. However as it is a Uefa stipulation they may not get away with it.

Agree1 Disagree0

@8 I do not think that the sfa will bend anymore rules for rangers they have already done them more than a few favours and yet all that lot do is moan about how they have been treated, i. e. relegated, transfer embargo, ally I want names, chico the rangers will never play in the spl as long as I am here, chico the spl is a busted flush, there are many comments which can be added to this list but as chco said "I AM JUST AN person FROM YORKSHIRE" so I predict no more deals with that person as he simply has no gratitude. pat-c

Great news Aird and the other young lads signing for 5 years.

Believable12 Unbelievable7

Aird is rubbish.

Hegarty is rubbish.

MacLeod is a good prospect.

McKay is not bad but seems scared.

SC93

Agree8 Disagree15

Very harsh on Aird after only a few appearances. Think any sensible person would give him a chance

Agree14 Disagree3

Maybe if they don't have a clue about football they would. He is terrible. One half decent appearance against Motherwell and that's it. If he was any good he would be playing because let's face it, we aren't exactly blessed with attacking prowess. He is very poor and is scared. I'm entitled to an opinion and know enough about football to know he will never be good enough. The standard of opposition is only going to get better you know.

SC93

@3 you still shouldn't judge someone until they have played more games. He is only a young lad and should be given time to prove himself. He may well turn out to be no good but at least give him a chance

There was a time when JT had a decent enough reputation as a sports journalist. I remember enjoying reading Ian Paul and Jim when they were at The Herald.

Now, any reasonable person would be forgiven for reaching the conclusion that anything he has written in the last 15 to 20 years is full of complete nonsense.

I am very disappointed. Why anyone here is defending his behaviour and having a pop at the messenger defies belief. These snippets are clearly the tip of one very large iceberg, and we are left to ponder what was going on, back in the day, with the previous regime at Ibrox. All those back page stories about casinos and retractable roofs and war chests etc, etc. The mind boggles at how those exchanges went.

Reporting news, commenting on events, is fine. Crafting the news, that is going way beyond the Job Description. Surely?

Believable23 Unbelievable14

Since the whole Rangers circus last year a lot of journalists have lied and made up utter nonsense. On both sides of the divide. One thong that shocked me is that certain journalist have shown that they definatly have a bitter agenda against RFC. Even at school I was taught to write and discuss matters in a nuetral agenda.

Agree5 Disagree16

Imagine a journalist checking his sources-get rid of him now.

It amazed me the amount of greeting that this club does. Even today it is stated they have written to UEFA for clarification in refereeing decisions. Whi fo they think they are that all and sundry are answerable to them? The last time I looked I actually thought you had to put the ball in the net to be able to win a game of football? When did they come close? Oh yeah that's right the Ambrose header. the guy that has been lambasted for his offering to the game. Yet, it's not Lennons fault for picking him? It's always everyone else's fault when Celtic fc don't get their way. Dust off the persecution complex and role it out. Give us peace!

Can you imagine what it would have been like had all that has happened to rangers have happened to Celtic in the last year and for them to be now operating out of the third division! It would have been 10 times worse than what has already been. Greet greet greet. always cheated and never defeated.

Agree15 Disagree14

It's just been announced Lennon will complain to UEFA about the referees handling of the game. Some things never change, he is unable to accept he was beaten by a far better team.

Agree16 Disagree10

Fair enough mate. I'm fed up of all this patter about Juventus fouling us at corners. Personally I don't think it made any difference to what the outcome would have been. Juve would still have won seeing as big Billy Ocean was intent on making the line up for the big game. We were beaten by a better team, 3 big chances 3 goals. Ruthless! As all the best teams are. Efe even managed to miss a point blank header from 7 yards out just to compound his shameful performance. Don't think we deserved to get a 3-0 beating as it doesn't tell the whole story as Celtic played some good high tempo football, some of they're best of the season. that's the way it goes though. The players are going to have to break they're necks and run till they drop in turin to avoid it getting out of hand. As long as we do better than the 8-1 aggregate Rangers were beaten by them during the gazza, laudrup years aka the David Murray kamikaze years i'll be able to live with it.

Agree9 Disagree4

Have you seen the pcture on the bbc? Hoopers two hands on the opponents face. And heres me thinking raising yur hands to an opponent is a red card offence.

Doug don't you have bigger things to worry about than Celtic like how my new club is pretending to be the old club but can't punish new club because were not old club make your mind up lol seriously coming on here trying to slag Celtic for getting beat by juventus in last 16 of cl just shows how of low intelligence you are doug

explain this then. H.

Agree6 Disagree0

No 6 tre 67, bamber doug here, like I stated you were well beaten which isn't going to change, next thing lennons going to ask for a 3 goal handicap against juve for the 2nd leg, give up, same as your management should be doing, you aren't going any further in this tournament, new club, never, new owners yes, always was and always will be rangers fc inside the big red brick house, so you should just wander back down the yellow brick road to where you belong doug bamber t. s. o

Agree9 Disagree7

All this talk about Celtic losing to club that has 100mill more on the pitch, days later and are still talking about the biggest club in Scotland.
How are we poor losers and say we are not defeated? We except we made mistakes as nl has said but as you watched the game in the box after being worked you cannot keep pulling at shirts, what about izzy being tripped in front of 18 box in front of red yet nothing. After this big scandals about match fixing wouldn't you want clarification? Your hate for Celtic is a joke like your club for you fail to see the rules in order to have a go at Celtic, pathetic much

Agree8 Disagree5

Clever tactic. Puts the ref under the microscope for the next game. Why you lot even bothered about it. Do you not all come on here every week moaning about 3rd div players tackles.

@1 Dust off the persecution complex? are you for real is that not the card Charlie's playing just now ( i'm phoning the Prtime Minister because Engerlund don't want us in their league). So what about your little ditty " no one like's us we don't care ". Scottish Football is a sinking ship. Overpriced and lacking in quality and competition. The SPL crowds are on the slide and clubs are starting to panic under pressure from the money men. 2500 crowd for the 2nd placed team midweek and last weeks crowds were dire. What is there to play for? The 2nd and 3rd placed teams will be out of Europe before next season kicks off. I have watched one SPL and one 1st division game this season and both were dreadful and well overpriced.
Based on SPL clubs reaction to Rangers situation last year I look forward to some of them going down the same road. If there is a way out of Scottish Football via the Conference or any other route then Rangers should fight for this as Scottish Football is finished.

Believable23 Unbelievable20

Another self involved post. If your club were in the SPL the attendance would have been the same. As for looking forward to some clubs going down your route? I would think walking away from debt, buying their history and restarting debt free might suit them don't you?

Agree19 Disagree11

If you only watched one 1st division match and one spl match then you don't even qualify for an opinion

Morning Fellow Bears.
I was @ Ibrox last night for a Valentines dinner in Argyle House. The meal was smashing and would highly recommend it. More to the point, I had a wee moment to reflect on how last night compared to this time last year. I had a wee moment to think how much I appreciate we what we have came through and we are still here. Very proud last night to look out onto the pitch knowing we are only going to get stronger and also the staff working away last night very happy (apart from the wee manager who is 4ft tall and was angry our mains were late).
Anyway, was a great moment of reflection and I'm proud things are on the up
Coisty09

Believable28 Unbelievable34

Glad your 'wee moments' were better than mine. It's been a horrendous year ---let's not kid ourselves. We are not where we should be and the team is so poor. I know 'things can only get better' but it'll be a 'long time coming'. I agree though, we are still here and should be thankful I suppose. Can't get my head round it all ---even a year on

Agree26 Disagree1

It's a transitional period. We have a team on the park, albeit some should never be in a Rangers jersey. However, hopefully we have some players in on free transfers in September to boost the squad and increase the level of performances that we have seen. Also once the transfer ban is lifted we will be able to sign players (attracting them to the lower divisions will be the problem).
We should be thankful we are able to watch our team every week. Follow Follow through thick & thin is what we do. Good times and the bad.
