I just want to highlight last couple night games in the champions league. We seen a handful of teams either making their debut's or coming back after a long long time out of the Euro elite competition.

Teams Like Napoli, Dortmund, Ajax, Leverkusen and Basel. All which have had their financial difficulties in the past and had to go through allot of club reconstruction and development, even relegation.

If we can Follow these teams guidance and plan i will be one happy bear, even if it costs us silverware in the short time and bring a greater, stronger and successful club.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

In an ideal world that would be great but the teams you have highlighted are playing in leagues that have more money invested in them, maybe apart from Basle who are bankrolled by a rich director.
A vast majority of our fans would not share your patience and would expect to win most competitions we enter.
I also think we would never be allowed to ever build a young team because if we have a player(s) who look the part they will be away to bigger and better things.
The only thing that can truly save Rangers and Scottish Football is a worldwide wage cap from the biggest to the lowest teams as the financial state of football is there for all to see, With the fanbase We and Celtic have there is no way we should be struggling but player wages are the largest expense in the game and it needs sorted or the competitions in so called lesser counties will die.
The big clus are all in debt mainly due to player wages and agent fees.
I don't want Rangers to be a feeder club grateful for every cent, we are a big club in our own right and are only a victim due to where we are based.

Does anyone know the rangers players that use twitter. If anything happens at the club surely they will be tweeting away?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Don't really think they are gonna tweet anything about subjects of a serious nature, and don't think it would be appropriate for any players to comment.

Agree1 Disagree0

They cant really comment on club business. They have a confidentaility agreements in their contracts, standard practice in all players contracts i'm led to believe. If they talked they would likely incur a huge fine and be placed on the transfer list. As seen with Barton at Newcastle.

Agree1 Disagree0

I know about confidentiality.I just thought with all the manky mob saying rangers players not gettin paid they would be on moaning about it.3-1 to the mighty gets lafferty to score first.

From the statement that whyte released yesterday i am quite positive that we will be ok in the near future. He has came out and said that times will be hard, but the same can be said for every club in the SPL, including them! Whyte is doing what he does best and that will be reduce outgoings by cutting back on perhaps security, coaching staff, catering ect. He will sit tight, ride things out and if this tax bill isn't as bad as reported then we will be in a really strong position to push on in terms of transfers and upgrading the stadium. WATP>

Right I am going to rant here,

We are in a better financial state than we were a year ago, yes we have issues with the tax thing but that is in the future and if the tax consultants say we have a good case going into it we must have something up our sleave, so we don't need rescueing at the moment and we have tied up our best assets in long term contracts(very smart move so if the EPL come sniffing around in January it will cost them and this can only be good for us. I have to admid that the tax thing is concerning but not the be all and end all!!

I also want to say that Mr Whyte in my opinion is doing a good job by not throwing money around willy nilly, I would be more concerned is he came in and say 20 million there you go, this guy is a good business man who has the clubs best interests in mind,

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Heard a rumour that the celtic team bus has been ambushed by the Sion squad in Madrid. No one was hurt but it is believed that Mark Wilson had p****d his pants and Gary Hooper was left curled up on his seat, crying like a wee baby. Neil Lennon automatically tucked his socks inside his tracky trousers and was heard shouting "come intae me" and "CFC in yer area". One onlooker said that lennon's reaction was similar to his behaviour after last seasons scottish cup replay at Parkhead. Due to this incident, celtic are taking drastic action against Sion, QC Mr McBride is on the case. Charlie Mulgrew was asked to look after the 2 lads effected worst in Wilson and Hooper ...More on this story to follow.

Guys, just read an article on newsnow rangers, about Whyte and his battles in and out of court, this article states that every time Whyte goes public he is giving more information to HMRC, Levy &McRae and Bain. Judges dont like their rulings being questioned in public, which is what Whyte is doing.
Also Whyte made comments about the law firm which apparently they could sue over. It is just one big mess, and we are going to end up in court on several different issues, the only people making money will be Whyte's new team of lawyers, lets hope he IS PAYING THEM. Wee Bud

Celtic fan coming in piece here.

If Craig when took months too buy rangers then he must know what he was getting himself into,on that note buying any football team with a bill that 'might' be 49million I'm pretty sure he's not daft and when he bought rangers I'm sure the guy would have done a deal with Murray that if this bill comes to however many million pounds Murray must pay so much to it ?

Also remember hearing when whites name was thrown into the hat about buying rangers a guy was on one of the phone ins & said he worked with the white in (I think contruction) and he said he was a money grabber & he would only buy rangers too make profit but everyone knows making profit is hard if not impossible in the spl unless u do what we done (the hoops) & get 9 million for mcgeady. So wouldnt be surprised if at the end of the season rangers will be a wipe out player wise

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Rangers have made more overall profit than celtic in the last few years-you only shown a profit from the sale of mcgeady otherwise you`d of lost about £6m or summat!

Agree0 Disagree1

Yes but if we had,nt sold McGeedy we would not have bought other players and if Rangers had not sold Hutton Cueller and Bomsong they would have been another 30million down on income. What the boy is saying is that the only way to make money is be selling on players for a profit and if that is whytes plan Davis, McGregor Jelavic and Lafferty most all be in the shop window

Just a question why do we bother with a youth team and Murray Park at Rangers?

We have shown over the years that we'd rather play other teams cheap castoffs and other SPL youth players over our own so why even bother having them?

I'd have Macmillan, Perry, Wylde, Hutton, Ness and Fleck in the team every week. Also have Little, Bendicksen and Hemmings waiting in the wings.

We have this huge wage bill and we say we need Murray Park to pay but the answer is there right now!

Seriously p*sses me off

Rossco Cyprus Bear

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Fleck has had a few chances and failed to take them. Little is not good enough. I'd have McMillan in there before Whittaker and Broadfoot every day of the week and i'm sure if Ness could stay fit he'd be getting a run in the side. Hutton will come back from Partick a better player and get his chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

This is a typical attitude that stops our young guys getting anywhere. Little not good enough? Based on what? Has had hardly any chances but scored the goal that got us a vital point against Hearts last season. And Fleck? Hows he had a chance? You can't just give a player 45 mins and expect him to light up the league. We need to give our young guys extended runs in the team, say 5 games to see what they can do.

If Little and Fleck aren't good enough then how do Edu, Mculloch, Broadfoot and Ortiz get anywhere near the team sheet?

Bottom line is even if these guys weren't superstars I'd rather have our young guys playing badly but getting the chance and on low wages than internationals like the ones listed above playing pish and draining the club of funds.

Rossco Cyprus Bear

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree with most of what you day Rossco, but Fleck is s**te and there is no getting round that fact. He has had chances, lots of them and not taken them. His attitude is also poor, not cleaning boots when he was younger as he was too good for that. I am sure he will do okay in his career, once he gets the chop at Gers and realises he needs to perform much much better. Hutton will be fine and should be getting a game ahead of Edu. I am sure Ally has that in mind for him after PT loan deal. Little and McMillan should also have been put out on loan if we cant get them on the park.

Murry Park is okay, not great. We don't have any teams in the SPL with proper reserve teams as they just play bounce games. It is that what is keeping us behind. Perhaps we sould see if we can get the reserves into a regional league in England or Scottish 3rd div... Just thinking out loud.

Fleck - how can a young football pro be carrying too much weight?
He has the same body type as Rooney, but he is not a shadow of the player of fitness Rooney has.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we should defo have a feeder club in the lower leagues in the same way Barca do. Truth is it must be so demoralising for our young guys to watch the guff that is put ahead of them week in week out. I just cant comprehend why you wouldn't give them a chance. Other thing is why do we say our guys are young? Fleck and Ness are 18+19. Down in England in a much tougher league guys at that age are established first team players! We have guys at 22 and say they're young! What a joke.

With regard to the argument over Month Edu.

Yes he's had some bad games, but there's a point I'd like to make to the fans who continue to huff and puff every time he has a bad touch.
Yes you have the right to boo if you want but it achieves nothing. Eg look at what's happened with Charlie Adam. The boy was just played out of position but he got boo'd all the time.
(played well against Dundee utd by the way).

Has anyone ever noticed that we seem to bring foreign players into this country and somehow make them lose all the qualities technically that we brought them in for, within a year these foreign players look more like Scotsmen on a football field, they have lost the ability to control the ball and make a 10yard pass. We then go and play mediocre European teams and they have got better technical ability than our team full of foreign players??

Go figure?

Is it our coaches or just the pace of our game that causes it?

Before we know it jelavic will have a first touch like mcculloch. Lol

Anyone else feel this way?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Lol 1st touch like mculloch, ur right tho we get good players in becoz we see wot they can do then we change there position or they're style of play total pointless a think it's down to the way we coach players we r still behind the times with our coaching techniques and the amount of leaniancy(spelling f*** knows lol)we give our players {Ed001's Note - if Scotland is behind in coaching techniques, why do UEFA base a number of their coaching courses in Scotland?}

Agree2 Disagree0

I think it is in part style of play. I go to the under 21's interntionals and when you see the teams warming up, the Scottish lads are hitting the ball 30 - 40 yards while the European team is nocking it about in wee triangels. Also in the game you can hear the ball whacking against scotland players boots, which you can't when the continentals play. Also the SPL is a bit rought

David

Agree0 Disagree0

I played at a high level back in the day and when you play with better players you are a better player yourself, and in some ways it is much easier to play. If any of us on this forum jumped into the Barca first team I am sure they could actually pull it off because they are all so good and can take the slack of other lesser players. When you play in a lower team you would think that some of the better players would shine, this sometimes does not happen as players at a higher level read the game in a different way.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Sep 2011 08:51:15
Does anyone else think the abelairas deal could be a nice little shock before the Celtic game. If we sign him today we could get him registered in time for Sunday as I think he has dual nationality, plus he has been training with the squad for the last week so should have a feel for things around the squad (tactics etc for Sunday). I really hope so as he looked a class act on you tube, left footed players always have that x factor right footers don't seem to develop and from what iv seen he seems to have that ability to ping 60yard passes or hit a decent corner/free kick that our squad of right footed players have sadly lacked since Walter came back (Beasley excluded but he didn't really get played cos of his size, whatever people's feelings on him the boy was the best crosser/corner taker we had in our squad at that time). At points last year we had sasa papac stepping up to hit a free kick and as much as I like him as a player he hasn't exactly got a wand of a left foot, although that shows you how poor the rest of the squad is technically jelavic excluded but he should be in the box as the threat anyway unless it's within shooting distance. Sasa just got the job by default.

Let's hope we pull a rabbit out the hat for Sunday and give the hoops a total unknown quantity to deal with, a bit like they did to us with moravcik in the days before transfer windows. Technically gifted players are in short supply in this country where every second touch of the ball is a tackle.

Either way we will prevail but would be a nice statement of intent.

Opinions people??

Believable5 Unbelievable0

A caught a glimpse of him on YouTube he also has pace an can go by players very easily but we played him centre mid in the reserve game would be a good wee morale booster for the fans before th O.F and the players good shout m8

I like anyone can see that Edu isn't playing to a standard that we as Rangers fans expect. But i'm sick and tired of people berating him. Yes he is not the best midfielder we've ever had but he is certainly not the worst. When he first began his Rangers career I admittedly was too quick to judge him. He came through a poor start and began to show some real promise. Eventually having a pretty good first season. This season he's had 1 or 2 good games and the rest, well yes, his second touch is often a tackle. However, as much as a professional is bemoaned at for not doing this, for not doing that...... psychologically what benefit is there in booing the guy and getting on his back every single game.....it will only go as far to make the guy play worse and not improve. Encouragement can go a long long long way in football, while negativity will set you back even further. Lets not forget that this guy can play a bit of football. Let's give him a cheer now and again and hep get it back! He's showed it in the past. He seems like a genuine guy. Give him a little bit of love lads, maybe even a cuddle? Here's him chatting in the Daily Record:

Our team needs support now more than ever....not boo boys!

Completely agree.
Ask yourself this question. Do you want Edu to become the best player he can be? If so then either keep quiet or cheer the odd time. This guy has shown some fine skills and all he needs is a bit of faith.

How many chances do you want to give this guy.. he plays 1 good game in about 15 starts, get a grip! he cant handle the pressure, cant make a simple pass. he should be dropped and someone else should be giving the chance till he relizes that you must work hard for your wages. i feel sorry for davis having to play with him in the middle of the park.. anyway thats only my opinion i'm not ally mccoist.

How long do u want to give him , he might have 1good game every 20 so if u think thats good enough u must be a muppet . Get edu out!

Agree2 Disagree1

U having a giraffe he is the worst midfielder i ave ever seen in a gers top FACT

Agree2 Disagree1

The boys mince. We shouldn't have to cheer and encorage him because the large majority of us don't want him anywhwere near the team. We have far better young players who would benefit from getting a game!

Agree2 Disagree1

How can edu be the worst midfielder. Nuno campucho or Emerson were miles worse

Agree0 Disagree3

People cant stand him because he is crap. Simple fact is that he is not good enough and part of the problem that the team is not performing at a better standard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mo Edu plays MUCH better for the USA national team because he plays further forward.

I think he's ineffectual as a holding midfielder and at breaking things up- I simply don't think he's that type of player
