Ejaria at present not really cutting it, Dorrans out for quite a while, get Charlie Adam in as creative midfielder, ejaria as back up.

18 Aug 2018 00:14:13
What? Sooo you think Adam would fit into our high tempo, fast paced pressing game? No, just no.

18 Aug 2018 00:54:03
Behave.

18 Aug 2018 00:56:05
Charlie is far far passed his best. are you not keen on arfield as the creating mid? Coulibaly (when fit) and jack holding?

18 Aug 2018 01:00:55
Would agree with your post up until you mentioned Charlie Adams name. We definitely need another midfielder that can cut open defenses though.

18 Aug 2018 01:46:50
I'd really rather not.

We're playing a high press system, Charlie Adam isn't exactly known for his hard work and pace.

18 Aug 2018 07:52:18
Agree with all the replays. Never been a great fan of Adam but even less so at this stage in his career. He's been 'waddling' about down south for the last few seasons and would look so out of place in our current side of quick, lean, super fit, high energised players.

18 Aug 2018 08:09:26
He’s no fit or mobile enough mate c'mon to f👀👀k.

18 Aug 2018 12:09:14
I agree about Ejaria. I think he is the weakest of our midfield. Loves his wee flicks and feints but only so far hasn't shown enough for the team. However Charlie Adam is not the answer.

18 Aug 2018 14:05:56
For me our perfect midfield 3 is Jack Arfield and Coulibaly Jack purely defensive Coulibaly box to box and Arfield the creative mid.

18 Aug 2018 14:13:45
Ejaria hasn't been outstanding but he's done alright. Don't think Charlie Adam would keep him outta the starting XI, even if he were to sign for us, which I hope he doesn't.

17 Aug 2018 21:09:59
Last night was fantastic and I have to admit I found it emotional and at the end I had tears ( real tears) in my eyes, it feels like we r Rangers again . Certain footballing bodies, football clubs and whoever else was involved in trying to kill us off have lost their battle and last night to me personally was the day we announced we r back where we belong .

The impact of Steven Gerrard has been nothing short of phenominal and i'm extremely proud to say that he is the manager of our club . Everything about the man oozes class and by the time he does inevitably leave to go to Liverpool he will be not just a legend to the Liverpool fans but he will also be a legend to all of us Rangers fans, you can already see the burning desire within him to take over Celtic and get us back where we belong . God knows what state I'm going to be in when 55 arrives but one things for sure I'm going to love the ride.

17 Aug 2018 23:44:49
Great post FleetwoodBear

Lets hope we can get this final Europa qualifier in the bag! If we can reach group stages It will be regarded as a success! Anything else after that is a bonus

We need to treat the FC Ufa game like a cup final.

18 Aug 2018 09:43:48
I think its already a success I didn't expect to come so far, so fast were way ahead of expectations in my eyes. Let's keep it up as this celtic team are there for the taking.

19 Aug 2018 15:12:53
Everything is going well on the pitch yes I'm extremely happy but I hope to god it's the same off feild no hidden financial disasters.

17 Aug 2018 15:42:12
Peter Lawwell's shakin' and Brenda Rodgers' quakin' because we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Stevie G is smokin' and all the Tims are boakin' because we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

17 Aug 2018 17:50:37
Brilliant 5 disagrees so far. That's 5 tims then on here so far.

17 Aug 2018 20:44:53
Hahaha. brilliant and you have hooked 12 of them into the bargain, they are so gullable.

17 Aug 2018 21:13:24
they have spent £2 million of disco lights for champions league party nights, when do u think we'll buy them on eBay for £80? April? May? it's not too unusual until u realise what it's really for! . kids discos! they'd secured a bulk buy package with haribo, bacardi breezers, rohipnol and ky jelly! to be fair they've decided to keep the rest of the stuff but selling the lights! boom!

18 Aug 2018 03:10:20
Heh the lights have to be off so they don't get caught 😂😂.

18 Aug 2018 12:29:14
Ooops. Sorry guys, I now realise that you have to login to see the disagree button! New to this site.

19 Aug 2018 15:04:45
@CFBear - or the same one with a nervous twitch at the sight of the Gerrard Juggernaut imploding Brenda for good. 👍.

19 Aug 2018 15:09:00
Quality Hugh make sure you ask them to put the DISCO
Lights on for all that dancing.

17 Aug 2018 23:26:34
Are we after this lad?

17 Aug 2018 15:20:52
This next trip to Russia sounds like a trip I to the unknown. A team that's only 10 years old that end up 6th in the Russian league and to cap it off they play on an artificial pitch. Sounds tricky.!

17 Aug 2018 15:26:49
A team that went bust and reformed 20 years ago. Celtic fans will live that.

17 Aug 2018 16:19:49
The worst part is that it is right in bandits country / the middle of nowhere. Some trek getting there sure its about 2 hour flight from moscow.

17 Aug 2018 17:05:02
Lads, I have worked in Russia before and the place I worked was about 400 km east of Ufa in a place called Chelyabinsk . outside of the modern parts of Moscow, Russia is a very grim country. Hell of a trip for the players as well as they’ll likely fly to Moscow and then a further 2.5 hours to Ufa. Our saving grace is that it’s not quite winter yet and therefore temperatures will be similar to home. One things for sure is that if we continue in Europe and play every Thursday and Sunday, we will need a big squad.

17 Aug 2018 17:14:04
Fat fingers. I meant to say 10 and love.

17 Aug 2018 20:07:09
Gers team will fly direct by charter flight to Ufa airport, its 3.5 hrs, not as bad as we think 3pm kick awf, with time difference back in glesga for midnight.

17 Aug 2018 20:18:01
9 and half hour flight. Direct from Edinburgh.

17 Aug 2018 20:31:38
Sorry guys miscalculated its 5hrs direct by charter, still back for midnight with time difference.

17 Aug 2018 22:08:40
Could have done without the away leg right before the Celtic game.

17 Aug 2018 15:19:45
I always used to think that although both allan mcgregor and craig gordon were fantastic keepers, i thought craig gordon just edged it for me and it was down to height. I couldn't separate them, in all other aspects of goalkeeping. Not anymore, as i truly, unbiased rate allan mcgregor a better goalie than craig gordon! Mcgregor is a superb keeper and nudged in front of Gordon for me, since he's got older! What a signing stevie G, on a freebie into the bargain!

17 Aug 2018 15:48:55
The penny dropped, better late than never👍.

17 Aug 2018 15:54:26
Always thought there wasn't much in it but always felt Gordon had a mistake in him whereas McGregor was more solid. Also thought he had more presence, regardless of height.

17 Aug 2018 16:23:11
Mcgregor has been one of the best brittish goalkeepers over the last 10 years imo. Somehow never ended up at one of England top clubs. Thank god though as then we wouldn't have him.

17 Aug 2018 16:48:53
Gordon is the keeper that pulls of a wonder save then loses 3 the next game and has a howler.

McGregor is a solid 8 every game, nothing dramatic but effective and calms the rest of the team.

I know who I’d rather have!

17 Aug 2018 17:07:09
Gordon is a good shot stopper but a bomb scare with the ball at his feet whereas Shagger is comfortable with it. McGreggor has and always will be better than Gordon although he’s no mug.

17 Aug 2018 17:23:03
Gordons hoaching can't catch doesn't come for crossess terrible with pass backs and is forever caught in no man's land running out his goal. Glad we never got him most over rated keeper I've ever saw. Cost scotland both goals in England game at hampden as well.

17 Aug 2018 20:25:05
The tims disagreeing again. Dived out the way of first n watched a cross hanging in air for 60 yards for second kane puts it in from 4 yard while he stands on line.

17 Aug 2018 20:47:13
Shagger always has been and always will be better than Gordon, can't actually belive this debate even started.

18 Aug 2018 05:14:50
Gordon is good at theatrical diving . lookin for a job in Panto methinks.

18 Aug 2018 08:13:04
Both very good keepers.

17 Aug 2018 14:57:11
Good game last night wee Morelos has to watch his temper because he can cost Rangers points other than that everything is A ok.

17 Aug 2018 14:44:42
Seen him praised in a couple of posts, but have to say that Andy Halliday hardly put a foot wrong last night, positioning was good, decent use and retaining of he ball and could well have had a goal.

Not saying he should play week in week out, however I’ve gone from wanting rid, to thinking he’d make a decent squad player and the boy loves it at Rangers, might not be enough but he’ll always give his all.

17 Aug 2018 15:56:37
Correct. Throughout our successful years there guys like him in the squad who bled Rangers but were maybe a level below the starters. When we had Gazza, Laudrup, then Van Bronckhorst, De Boer there were guys like Ian Ferguson and Iain Durrant there. Not on a level with them talent wise but lived and breathed the club and did a job when called on.

17 Aug 2018 16:27:20
Ian durrant would have been the best player rangers ever had or scotland for that matter! !

17 Aug 2018 19:25:31
Got to agree durrant was a fantastic player his first reserve game back after his assalt by neil simson drew an unbelievable crowd .

17 Aug 2018 20:11:40
Aye Currant was definitely world class imo.

17 Aug 2018 21:31:32
Actually can't believe Halliday, Ferguson and Durrant are being used
as comparisons. he couldn't lace any of their boots. I loved Halliday in the championship but honestly i panic more than he does when he has someone running towards him. just one example, didn't clear his lines when backed into the corner and ended up kicking out for a corner. He wouldn't have been on the park if flanagan wasnt barred. Ferguson and Durrant were first team picks week in week out.

17 Aug 2018 14:43:37
Excellent presser from SG and GM, we don't look over the garden fence, fellow bears we all know who likes to do that don't we.

17 Aug 2018 14:29:04
To answer question about adding to capacity when Willie Waddle gave go ahead to the rebuild of Ibrox each new stand could add another tear.

17 Aug 2018 12:52:20
Not a rumour but more just chucking an idea out there because I've seen him on SSN. Darren Bent is without a club, 2 years younger than Defoe who people were clamouring for, and knows where the goal is. Take him even on some kind of pay as you play deal?

17 Aug 2018 13:05:18
hahahahha Darren bent is honking.

17 Aug 2018 13:22:13
Bent would be hopless, we play a high press.

Needs to be a player that will work hard and score important goals = Lafferty.

17 Aug 2018 12:45:21
My reading on UEFA website leads me to believe that barasic can play against ufa.
This is because next round is classed differently.
I may be wrong, any views folks.

17 Aug 2018 13:17:24
you might be right Jboy

i read somewhere he was eligible for the group stages if we got there - but that’s not gospel.

17 Aug 2018 13:26:31
He can play if we get to the groups.

17 Aug 2018 17:14:47
Jboy. Regulations of the UEFA Europa League, article 41.07 states that he is eligible from the group stage onward.

17 Aug 2018 19:32:03
Thanks parky appreciate your clarification.

18 Aug 2018 12:20:51
People keep talking about dislikes. Ican't see anything on the page.

17 Aug 2018 11:54:35
Reasons for improvement, Manager young but vastly experienced in Europe, been there seen it done it for Liverpool and England knows what is required to play in Europe. However main point, Players may not be the greatest however respect for SG and professional pride in wishing not to let themselves down and the manager can raise a players game and performance by up to 20% title this year? 50/ 50.

17 Aug 2018 12:49:33
Spot on Govan guy.

17 Aug 2018 11:51:19
I know it looks like Lafferty is heading back to us, but does anyone think that lafferty could be more effective and help the cause better if he stayed at hearts. He, s already cost celtic 3 points wearing maroon this year and scored on his last 4 outings against them. I do see him scoring for us especially under Gerrards guidance but weakening hearts may only help celtic. Trojan horse mentality.

17 Aug 2018 13:01:59
I’d rather he helped US take the points of Celtic since we couldn’t even do that once last season. Celtic will slip up to other teams than just hearts this year.

17 Aug 2018 11:15:09
Three yellow cards means you miss one match through suspension and so Flanagan is good to go against Ufa. Yellows are scrapped for the group stages and the five picked up last night might not be such a big deal.

17 Aug 2018 11:55:08
Candeias and Ejaria are on two yellows so could miss the away leg if they get booked next week.

17 Aug 2018 12:39:43
Parky we could cover either of these two being out.

17 Aug 2018 12:50:30
Could cope without those two no probs.

17 Aug 2018 13:19:07
Thats a good thing. Ejaria could be done with sitting a few out. haha.

17 Aug 2018 10:54:21
Excellent Professional job done by players and management team. Let's Go.

17 Aug 2018 10:47:22
What a performance last night from a understrength team that mob have scored 12 goals in the last three leagues and we reduced them to just a few shots on goal over 2 legs.

Quite frankly what SG and GM have done in the last 6 weeks is nothing short of amazing and all for under 4 mill. Another 2 transfer windows and we will be hearing that cl music.
I still think that mob will just pip us this season as they have the strength n depth in their squad but based on what I've seen so far if we get a bit of luck with injuries and suspensions this season we will run them close and poss get one of the cups.

17 Aug 2018 11:23:55
Stewartyblue. Three or four more key signings and we won't be pipped.

17 Aug 2018 10:32:55
Morelos turning his back on his captian several times when Tav was telling him to clam down, disrespectful. Apart from that potato headed primary 7 haircut wearing greeting faced liability we were fantastic last night, Andy Halliday sir I salute you, Gerrards subs were spot on, to a man fantastic, and we have some real quality players that were missing last night with a couple still to come in from the transfer market. Group stages here we come.

17 Aug 2018 11:13:40
Is this the same potato head, that has got us to the 4th qualifier? The young lad was getting goad the whole game, in my opinion he dealt with it much better than he has in the past, small steps. Why are we never happy and have to criticise our own player, rather than taking the positives from last night. What a team performance.

17 Aug 2018 11:25:52
It’s healthy to takes both positives and negatives my friend, you have to be balanced, if you ignore the negatives then you’re just ignorant.

17 Aug 2018 11:31:17
People1872, I agree Morelos is playing well but he does need to calm down. A couple of times last I have to admit I thought he might get sent off, especially when he got involved with the guy by sticking his head in his face🇬🇧.

17 Aug 2018 17:31:36
Guarantee you we would be out without morelos. Boys is pivotal to the system we are playing he's been immense holding balls up bringing others into play and winning fouls to take pressure off us. we have no one else capable of doing the job he does for the team and if u can't see that maybe u don't know as much as u think. The days of 4-4-2 are long gone and morelos has everything needed for the modern day striker.

17 Aug 2018 20:51:52
Morelos is a cracking wee player, yes his temperment is something he's going to need to control but I'd rather have a player with a bit of dig and a take no rubbish attitude than some of the dross we've been served up in recent years.

17 Aug 2018 10:20:09
Old firm game moved to the Sunday since both teams playing uefa cup playoff games on Thursday?

17 Aug 2018 11:12:22
It has been moved to the sunday ages ago RFC_Chris!

17 Aug 2018 12:40:35
Thanks supercoop. Booking the Monday off.

17 Aug 2018 12:54:51
Was always on a sunday.

17 Aug 2018 08:49:42
Watched Stevies post match interview. Then took a look at him shaking Maribor managers hand after the game. He says something to him but then he turns back and says something else. I am hoping the second retort is along the lines of " what you doing next Thursday".
The man is class, have a look at that moment, pure Gerrard.

17 Aug 2018 10:08:49
He stood in between the technical areas for a good bit before anyone came over to shake his hand he looked determined not to move until someone did. Shows the class of them especially when Shagger is getting missiles thrown at him at their gaffer is complaining he's time wasting. person.

17 Aug 2018 10:13:19
saying something like that wouldn't show any class.

17 Aug 2018 08:35:42
Thanks to the technical advice from fellow Bears yesterday I watched the game on Rangers TV using a VPN! First off, Halliday was great. He barely put a foot wrong and if all players showed his love for the jersey we wouldn't be far away. I thought McGregor was top class as were Goldson, Katic, Jack and Arfield. Not a failure in the team. Morelos is very good but needs to screw the nut and stop getting into confrontations. Who'd have thought 10 games in under SG and we would be unbeaten? I'm very excited about the season ahead now while keeping my feet on the ground. There is a good opportunity to bring in fresh legs on Sunday and give the like of Middleton and Sadiq a game plus Flanagan and Barisic will be back. By the way, sorry about your result Lennon!

17 Aug 2018 12:34:45
Need some help here guys as i'm old school what's a VPN 🤔.

17 Aug 2018 17:33:11
Vimto pot noodle?

17 Aug 2018 17:35:51
Gman, a vpn is like a private network and if you buy one you can set it so it appears that you live in another country. That means you can subscribe to rangers tv and see all games live as at the moment you can't do that while living in the UK.
Hope this helps.
Easier getting iptv though👍.

17 Aug 2018 19:34:39
Cheers andyboy thanks for that but i wouldn't have a clue how to set up a private network but I'll try and check it out . 👍.

18 Aug 2018 19:02:04
Gman, I've got a firestick and paid £50 to put iptv on it.
I can watch every gers game live no matter where we are playing. even 3pm ko at ibrox.
Every English premier game too.
It's the dogs bollocks 👌.

17 Aug 2018 07:35:03
Our display last night shows just how far we have come this season. We ciuld never have went on an away game in Europe last season and put the shutters up like that. We just need a strong no nonsense centre forward and creative midfielder to link it all up. C'mon the Rangers and well done Stevie G.

17 Aug 2018 08:11:09
Still need a centre half as well.

17 Aug 2018 06:30:18
Great result last night. Has anybody any idea as to why Lasssana coulibally wasnot playing and not even making the bench?

17 Aug 2018 06:34:02
Ekgers, muscle strain.

17 Aug 2018 07:02:33
Thanks. I was worried that some form of discipline problem had occurred.

17 Aug 2018 07:10:48
Will this keep him out of Sunday? And more importantly next Thursday? We need to keep this momentum going!

17 Aug 2018 07:58:08
Can anyone explain why there are disagree buttons pushed here on my post and replies? If anyone has any differing views I would welcome the debate.

17 Aug 2018 08:17:44
Don't sweat the disagrees mate. Some folk on here couldn't agree on the colour of sh*he. Plus all the silent celtic fans that hover this page.

17 Aug 2018 08:50:17
Brian the colour of sh*te varies depending on you diet!

perfect debate for an internet forum too.

17 Aug 2018 09:07:36
Smellies just come on and hit disagree without even reading posts and thus make a fool of themselves and give themselves away.

17 Aug 2018 09:33:40
It beats me mate, How can anyone disagree when you are only asking a smple question?

17 Aug 2018 02:06:42
After seeing Jack tonight believe he is captain in the making. On flip side we are playing too defensive for my liking. No quick movement forward midfield to forward.

17 Aug 2018 05:45:20
I think we're lacking just a little flair in midfield to help link midfield and forwards but it's not such a massive issue playing high pressing like we do.

I'm really happy with how things are going though, this is the most positive I've been about us in years.

17 Aug 2018 07:25:47
I agree completely. A strong no nonsense centre forward and a creative midfielder would be perfect. Or, push Tavernier into midfield, Flannigan to right back and a player with the skills of Ray Wilkins to dominate midfield.

17 Aug 2018 08:02:13
Ok you do realise that we were playing defensive last night because that’s the way Gerrard TOLD them to play and set them up to play. He literally said that in his post match interview. He said ‘people need to realise we will play one way at ibrox and another way away from home’. And even more so in Europe. Last night wasn’t about creative attacking silly football, it was about going away to a very good team on the back of a terrific home result and using excellent game management to get us through to the next round by playing a defensive stuffy type of game and not giving anything away.
Yes we do still need another cf, cb and maybe also a midfielder but no matter who we bring in, for away games in Europe when we have a lead to defend that will always be the way we play.
Them lot across the city like to play attacking expansive football away from home in Europe because deluded Brendan thinks his team can do so and take on anyone, well we’ve seen how that’s turned out plenty of times. So what would you rather, that we play defensive and get through ties or play attacking and get knocked out. (If you’re not sure you might want a word with a certain Sir Walter, he seemed to figure out how best to play in Europe the second time round with us)

17 Aug 2018 08:28:47
A player with the skill of Wilkins Buddy? 😂 You aren't asking for mucb ehh? 😉 A legend of the game!

17 Aug 2018 08:46:22
Buddy Blue

We still have Barisic who can play on the left either at the back or midfield.
We do need a centre forward and centre back.
Mark Allen and SG will have a list of potential signings and hope we get Lafferty.

17 Aug 2018 08:48:33
Millerbrandwilson I'm astonished at your post surely the result was the most important thing last night we executed a game plan perfectly and got the result we needed to get through. if we had gone gung ho and went out SG would have been accused of naivety and we should have e protected what we had etc etc IMO we are ahead of where I realistically expected as I said your post astonished me.

17 Aug 2018 08:48:55
Disagree we defended a lead with a well thought out plan minus 4-5 key players and youngsters on the bench. If we open up and have a pop chances are we are out this morning.

17 Aug 2018 11:37:47
I didn't make the post regarding other nights game which could not be faulted. But play in general. Rangers are winning, great, but their not playing in flowing style yet. More defensive than anything. I'll give SG benefit and say it's young team gelling.

17 Aug 2018 12:56:23
We were playing defensively to make sure we went through and made five changes to the squad. I wouldn't worry about attacking flair just yet. Let the players gel properly before yous let a second leg 0-0 draw worry you. We've made it to the play off against probably the team we would all pick as our opponents. Happy days are here again. Onto Killie and see how we handle them this season because they were a good outfit last season.

16 Aug 2018 23:41:51
If you need a wee reminder of how far we have come. watch tonight's game!

Tactics. Spot on,
Shape. Spot on,
Game Management. Spot on!

Congratulations Mr Gerrard on a fantastic Europe's result away from home! You and your players are the epitome of what we expect

Yes we rode our luck a little and as for McGregor, well I think we've just landed a title winning GK!

We are so stuffy and hard to beat! I don't see many teams playing trough us this season! First time in years I cannot wait to go to the Breeze Block Arena!

17 Aug 2018 03:06:09
I agree totally, we have a solid team that's hard to beat we are missing a little flair and maybe a striker but considering where we were 6 months ago I have absolutely no complaints.

It's amazing how far Stevie G and the board have brought us in such a short time and long may it continue!

17 Aug 2018 08:25:10
In a short space of time sg has got together a hard working organised team that have a resilience about them and more importantly, look like they hate to lose.

Don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but there are similarities to our successful teams of the past.

Most impressive thing about last night was we've first team players out injured, but the replacements slotted in well and kept the formation and philosophy.

Can't help but be impressed with sg and his team.

16 Aug 2018 23:36:46
First time post so go gentle fellow bears! Good battling performance tonight, a game in which we would have folded last season! Love SG's comments with regards to Morelos about clubs not to come knocking on our door with derisory bids! Onwards and upwards on and off the park!

Incidentally, is RonnieR9 (or whatever his name is) waiting on Morelos having a stinker so he can come back on here and slate him? No heard a peep for weeks.

Aye the lad has got his mojo back and is unplayable at times. If he keeps up this form he will eventually go for silly money.

Will only go for silly money if he screws the head twice he nearly lost it if not for tav and halliday taking him away from the situation were he did react to harsh treatment they had planned for alfredo.
