Yes I agree, especially liked his "there's no point in having an academy if the boys can't get in the 1st team" quote, exciting times ahead for us in my opinion I'm sure there will be a few ups and downs to start with but it's looking like we are eventually on the right track. mon the Rangers!

I would just like to congratulate Rangers Youth on another fantastic win this time 5-0 against a full strength Arbroath team. Now we have always had good youth teams but the problem has always been getting them to make the big step up to the first team. I hope that MW can be the man to finally acheive this and get the youth lads to their full potential. I remember listening to talksport a few months back and they had a guy on talking about Rangers, he was saying that he has watched youth sides from all over Britain but the Rangers 14s - 16s were the best he had ever seen. All is looking good, never been so excited for a new season to begin in a long time

assuming there is NO last minute snag, why is it taking so long for an announcement re Halliday?
It has taken ALL WEEK to confirm we are going for him, and since his medical yesterday we have heard the deal is imminent
? it DOES appear slightly strane to me.

What's happening with the money grabber Mike Ashley? Does he still continue to take 75% of fans money?

Are Rangers implementing a good scouting network to be put in place soon?

Those are the background changes that are imperative to this big club

Other than that, I as a Rangers man is happy with the Management and Board changes Let's hope this is a good season ahead

17 Jul 2015 10:41:56
As far as I can tell we are no nearer to ending his contract than we were the day the new board took control and won’t be until his five million is paid back.

Seven more years at least to go I think.

17 Jul 2015 09:08:39
I would have gave boyd another year contract and see how he went . He was brilliant the year before with killie and looked fit there I think warburton would have had him fit again and the new style of play attacking football suiting him perfect . He will proberly start scoring again this season for killie . The team never looked fit at all last season

Believable2 Unbelievable10

17 Jul 2015 09:47:48
well I think your right I posted the same the most sensible thing he said was the team were no making enough chances in a game however we will never know now that he has signed for killie

Agree5 Disagree5

17 Jul 2015 10:20:33
I don't think Boyd would've worked in this Rangers side Andy. Attacking football yes, but not in a style suited to Boyd. He'd still be expected to work for the ball which he's not the best at. Also, what did he do to justify a new contract? People look to his record for Killie on his return from largely failing in England, Turkey etc but this was a guy in need of a club, being forced to get the finger out to rejuvenate a career. Once he'd done that and got back to more money with his pals at Rangers he let his standards slip all too easily. Personally I'd question Boyds professionalism. Boyd and others can cite all sorts of excuses, the atmosphere around the club, worry about the future, lack of decent coaching/training, even lack of service into the box. At the end of the day, for me these are all reasons to work harder to maintain your fitness levels and keep yourself in the frame for new contracts or new clubs. All Boyd has managed to do is sign yet again for his comfort zone club who in reality are not going to achieve anything as they are a mid table prem club at best. No disrespect to Killie but they're not going to win anything other than maybe a Scottish/league cup once in a blue moon. I'd even argue that many Killie supporters won't be over the moon about their club being a comfort zone for players like Boyd. At the end of the day there's a reason why Kenny Miller is still at Rangers and Boyd isn't; and I doubt it's anything to do with triggering clauses in contracts per games played. Miller still had to work to earn that clause to be triggered and for me I'd far rather have Kenny Millers influence on young players than a certain Mr Boyd. Next he'll be telling us he's not fat he's just big boned with a glandular problem 😆. Don't get me started on his lack of class towards Rangers after signing for Killie. You're a big boy now Kris, man up and stop making excuses for your team mates carrying you all the time. You've been paid well for minimal effort. Time to stop drawing attention to yourself, get the heid doon and maybe Killie fans can get what the paid for.

Agree5 Disagree2

17 Jul 2015 10:37:50
If Boyd is fat God knows what u think of harkins, eremenko, madjid bougherra, Gary McAllister when he was playing.

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - McAllister? When was he fat? He certainly was not while playing in English football.}

17 Jul 2015 11:27:24
Ok Cee, maybeb'fat' was a bit strong but in professional athlete terms he is a bit rotund to say the least.
He certainly wasn't as fit or mobile as he had been at Killie. Don't really have an opinion on the others as they weren't at Rangers, with the exception of Bougherra who I thought had a big fat heid but did his job in defence very well. Boyd didn't do his job well at all last season and was a bit plump, hence no new contract.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2015 13:00:51
He came to rangers for the same wages he was on at killie so he wasn't chasing money

Agree0 Disagree2

17 Jul 2015 13:14:30
He wasn't fat ed, but he always had a bit of a belly compared to most footballers from what I can remember, Great player don't get me wrong bu

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - I can honestly not remember him ever having a belly and I have been there in pictures with him next to me and not seen it mate. Maybe I was just comparing him to me so he seemed slimmer than he was??}

17 Jul 2015 13:51:33
Bay
Can't argue about any of the content of your original post. The way I see it Boyd didn't either work or train hard enough to make a right go of it. We all know he is a proven goalscorer at the highest level so it really is his own fault that he couldn't be bothered to make the effort to get himself fit. If he had knuckled down and trained properly he would have scored a barrowload of goals last season. In my opinion. It will be interesting to see how he does back at Kilmarnock this season. If the goals start flying in then I think he should take a good look at himself. He let everybody down last season. Don't get me wrong, I think most of the players did, but, in my opinion there are two simple reasons why Miller is still at Ibrox and Boyd isn't. Attitude and work ethic

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Jul 2015 15:11:07
That's all I was getting at Noddy. Don't think the guy is the devil incarnate or anything. Just think it's his responsibility to keep himself in peak condition and to work hard. I don't feel he has done either of these things. When you look at a certain Mr Weir and the levels of fitness and professionalism he displayed throughout his career it's not hard to see why he wouldn't be singing the praises of Boyd to Warburton. It's no great loss having Boyd away. As for the money thing Andy, I was pretty sure he was being paid more at Rangers but I could be wrong. Where does it say he was being paid the same?

Cheers for the shout KT. Got to say, I enjoy reading your posts too. You tend to have the ability to separate the heart from the mind; an important quality in assessing the last few years.
Yep, W&W are seem to be heading down the route that most of us wanted, and for that I thank Mr King. I'll still not jump in with both feet where he's concerned just yet. However it's a pleasure to be talking/reading about football and what appears to be a quite exciting new direction for the club. As I've said many times before, all I wanted was to feel that this was a club for the fans, a club to be proud of again. Nothing to do with silverware, or psudo success off the back of unscrupulous financial arrangements. If W&W get this right and really set up a forward thinking policy of scouting, modern coaching and maximizing profit from players they could one day have statues of themselves outside Ibrox! 😊 Ok, maybe I am getting a bit over excited😆. Although, I really do feel they could become that important to the club and set the foundation for a Rangers respected across world football for there policies on scouting an nurturing young players. Time will tell I suppose but it looks to me that Rangers will benefit from W&W and in turn, the profile of Rangers will benefit them. I also think a Rangers ran like this could be significant to the continued rejuvenation of Scottish football and our leagues. At the end of the day, like it or not, football is a commercial product. I just think it's high time the fans of all clubs in Scotland get to see something exciting and refreshing. A game where they don't feel bitter about what they get for their money and that they have a club to share with their kids and grandkids. The more clubs that are ran with the future in mind the healthier our game will be. Imagine having a top 4 clubs all with a realistic chance of winning the league? Now imagine how satisfying it would be winning that league with players who'd come through your youth set up?!? Dunno about you but I'd love that.

So talking in a purely football sense (I know football is an alien concept on here lol) so for the season ahead I predict that your club with all the millions invested by Mr King (Big Wull has guaranteed this) and all the great signings made by your new ex stockbroker manager, I can see your club finish 4th and get into the playoffs again. Sadly though no cup runs either.

Believable1 Unbelievable7

17 Jul 2015 09:48:56
Out of curiosity who do you see finishing above us? Hibs are the only team that have strengthened, qos have lost a lot of players and you dontknow what st mirren will be like lol.

It's not going to take millions to win this division Timalloy. Just shrewd signings, fit players, clear instructions and modern coaching methods. Personally if in fact this season is just "purely football" I think Rangers will win this at a canter. If W&W are allowed to just focus on the football the rest should be looking to sort out the infrastructure and put money into stadium and training ground maintenance asap. I also think you're just a bit bored and have decided to go fishing. I don't think you really believe Rangers will finish forth, just like you don't believe Celtic will be in Europe after Christmas. Check the bookies odds for the two scenarios, think you'll find Rangers odds are much better and the bookies are rarely wrong 😘

17 Jul 2015 12:56:24
Bay, spot on, W&W just need a little support re a couple of solid signings, and their ability will get us playing FOOTBALL again. The early games will probably be tense, as players adjust, but if they can instal a free flowing, attacking outlook we, the fans, will be delighted.
A solid defence, mobility and skill in the middle, with fast attacking men up front, then we can relax and enjoy.
As far as the financial side is concerned that is down to board, so hopefully we made the correct choice.
As long as we have a creative team on the park giving 100% then that is all we can ask.

17 Jul 2015 12:38:29

@Naz and Bay, as you mentioned the betting I made a nice few quid last year betting on the "both teams to score" and the "handicap" coupons betting whoever your team played, the biggest handicap you had last season was your PLAYERS lol

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2015 22:52:42
😊 Fair play Timalloy. Got to be honest, I made a few quid on the both teams to score coupons in Rangers games too. Thought I may as well get some joy out of those horrific displays.

17 Jul 2015 23:10:29
I wouldn't underestimate Hibs at all tbh, they're very strong in the middle of the park with Allan, Carmichael, and McGeouch, honestly at the moment a stronger midfield than ours going by last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2015 10:11:13
Bay were rangers not long odds on to get promoted last year? And to win the petrofac cup for the last three years? So the bookies get it wrong more often than you think, lol .

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2015 12:34:57
JDG -McGeouch no longer at Hibs. only 6 mf on their team page. Can see 3 decent players there but not sure if it is strong enough for the season ahead. suppose we should have some indication next week. The question is will we be strong or creative enough to out play them.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jul 2015 07:24:45
See Hibs bolstering their midfield with signing ex Bourmouth/Burnley player pending any departure?

"Proof of pudding is the eating of it"

Let's review squad not just after transfer window closure but after first few games of season.

Warburton strikes me as a manager that won't like losing particularly after the roasting he would get from the fans. He would not want to repeat the experience after the first set back!

Hibs cup tie very interesting they might be best not beating us?

It'll be the usual 4 (RB, CB, CB, LB)
3 in midfield, I'm guessing a CDM and 2 CM(box to box players) a left winger, a right winger and one up front.

Wallace was a total failure in the Championship and constantly gave ball away cutting inside and never taking men on down wing on overlap was non existent in playoffs
