I see our former manager Ally has come out with another one of his stupid statements. Telling everyone that our club when into admin then liquidation. That's all we need to stir that lot up again with that tired debate.

17 Mar 2016 17:29:50
Biffo, I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

17 Mar 2016 18:10:37
Poetic - I do hope you'll stick around after the 17th april. I have a bottle of Bollinger in the fridge we can share.

17 Mar 2016 18:46:14
I don't drink Gram - but I'll be around :)

17 Mar 2016 18:48:33
The new company purchased the assets while the old cpmpany was in administration. The SFA clearly states this in their memoranda during the registration process that ended with the team playing in the lowest tier. Different company, same club. No story here. Move on please.

17 Mar 2016 19:08:02
The seeker

Yes it's that simple however I think our ex manager should have been more careful with his words.

17 Mar 2016 20:20:45
I know. It only provides the ammunition.

17 Mar 2016 20:38:17
He Kept his mouth shut when he was at Ibrox, my st be running
Out of millions needs some dash oh and by the way Ally You did do Walking away and thank Feck for that!

18 Mar 2016 13:29:34
Bongo - Exactly! McCoist never opened his mouth when it would have benefited the club, why start now. And don't give me the 'he was worried to speak out of turn for fear of his job' nonesense.

As for the sevco issue, its just funny watching them all still getting worked up about it. Short memories with regards to Pacific Shelf. 55 will be 55.

Also, not convinced the pathetic poet or whatever he is called doesn't drink having read some of his posts (on another teams website) .

17 Mar 2016 13:19:14
You may or may not Remember I posted, after we lost to St. Johnstone, I thought there was very little between the SPL and at the top of the Chamionship. 9 of you disagreed and 1 deluded guy sorry I mean class act agreed. At the tine there was little evidence to back up my statement other than our defeat. Now we have our draw and win over Kilmarnock, when we did not play well, our beating of Dundee. Hibs beating Aberdeen, Dundee United, St. Johnstone a narrow defeat by Ross County, wins at Hearts and Inmverness.

Pretty clear evidence the point? With no additions we'd be top 4 maybe even 3. We don't need a lot to be challengers let's hope we get that and more.

17 Mar 2016 15:18:19
I think with the current squad we would make top 4 comfortably, probably higher but still think we need 2 or 3 new faces with added quality and also to boost the squad should be get injuries, suspensions etc.

17 Mar 2016 15:45:23
I for one have said all along we will finish in the top 4 next year, possibly 2nd, however that isn't good enough. it is nowhere near good enough. we are Rangers, it's unacceptable not to be the best, it's the way we were all brought up. I'd be happy for 2nd as long as we aren't a million miles away from Celtic next year. I just hope the majority of fans are happy with 2nd aswell, as the journey has honestly just began. still some distance to go.

17 Mar 2016 15:53:32
So Bradford were as good as top two in English premier then? And if football was as simplistic as that we, d all be millionaires?, and using the agree boxes to gauge opinions is pretty silly too, everyone who knows a bit about football knows Rangers must invest in better players for top division, that includes the manager and board AND most of the fans
Tommy.

Onlyshowaround

Sorry but the day I'm happy seeing Rangers second best to Celtic is the day I jump off the Kingston bridge. It may take us a few years to win the premiership but u can't say u would be happy being second best in Scotland.

17 Mar 2016 16:08:58
Bluepete

Hibs have also lost to Dumbarton twice and were spelked by Morton away so does that mean those 2 sides are premiership quality?

17 Mar 2016 16:18:43
On top of Windass and Crooks I'd be happy with an out and out striker of real quality (and blow the majority of the budget to get one) and a LB and RB for cover. Tie up Forrester and King (if possible) . If there was any cash left after that another CB, although I am happy with how Kiernan and Wilson are progressing but we will need cover. Get that sorted and I think we can challenge for the league no matter who Celtic replace Deila with. I really hope it's Lennon as would be all the sweeter to see his face when we do win it!

17 Mar 2016 16:23:40
I think like our great captain Fernando ricksen said after helicopter Sunday FIRST IS EVERYTHING SECOND IS NOTHING. i think that just about says it all.

17 Mar 2016 16:59:39
Biffo316, it's been a long journey mate, if we go up next year and finish 2nd, less than 6 points off celtic I will be very happy. I'd love to see us challenge next year for the title but that is a lot to ask for. it's also unrealistic to expect us to challenge for the title straight away.

17 Mar 2016 17:13:44
onlyshowaround

why would it be unrealistic for us to challenge for title next year?

We have a decent squad, a great manager with, a top class football philosophy, our brand is the best in Scotland, tweak the squad bring in some quality and experience and go for the league. We are not as far off as you may think. Look at hearts, they are what 3rd and we are on course to beat their records from last year, out squad is better than what they had, as is our manger and our brand and our resources to bolster the squad for this year, we can compete next year no doubt.

17 Mar 2016 18:53:29
It is not unrealistic to think that we will challenge Celtic for the title next year. There will be investment and new players will come in. I can't see us being far away tbh. Hearts have made little investment from last year and I'd say we are better than they were. They haven't made such a bad fist of things have they? We will do better mark my words.

17 Mar 2016 17:46:29
M3LVO: If we finish as high as Hearts have in the Prem, that's the test.

17 Mar 2016 17:48:38
Only show: I agree, coming from the long journey to be in 2nd and pushing for the title (or even 3rd) would be a fantastic outcome to next season.

17 Mar 2016 22:01:24
In the same ego stroking frame of mind as the modest bluepete I have posted on here over 3 years (george) that we will win the SPFL first year back the reasoning being every game for us the whole season is an act of revenge mission so every game is a cup final for us add to that celtic have had zero pressure and zero competition yet they are under pressure this and a lot of last season from the sheep

With 5 additions we will have the best team in the top division and we already have the best manager

KT/ george.

18 Mar 2016 00:41:15
No doubt we will need some quality for next year. If we get the quality we need then we will be up there. Obv we want to win the league, we all do, but going the full course of a season is a lot different to playing the SPL sides in a cup game. Don't get me wrong we have the players who are more than capable of beating any SPL side. But to assert our dominant reputation as it was before against sides like aberdeen and hearts then we will need a bit more quality.

Celtic will be the benchmark, kills me to say it but we know they will. We can beat them in the game coming up, they have been horrible this season. Having said that, I think its fair to say that next season they will be a different outfit. New manager, new players, bit of money spent. I know a £2mil price tag doesn't mean a player is great but it gives them an advantage over us. I know we would rather win the league but as was mentioned above, if we lose the league by 6 points we would have made progress. Long road ahead but we are in safe hands. Remember all the pressure is on them now and next season.

18 Mar 2016 07:28:44
I remember O'Neill saying the same thing (Rangers are the benchmark) when he took over and we all know how that turned out! Same again would do me just fine, in reverse of course.

18 Mar 2016 12:37:17
Hope so.

18 Mar 2016 13:11:27
At the start of this season I said to myself if we went up I would be happy to finish 2nd next season but. Now its coming closer I don't think settling for 2nd is an option! as has been said before, we are Glasgow Rangers! 2nd isn't good enough. I think with the right additions a title challenge is not too big a step.

17 Mar 2016 08:47:28
The national team couldn't beat an English premier League club and so I don't think this whole selection debate is one to care too much about. It's a compliment to a player not being selected. I've long given up on the glorious failure brigade and the Strachans and ranked below Iceland sums up the whole sorry story.

17 Mar 2016 09:05:33
I don't see why you added the Iceland bit to be honest? why not highlight how Iran are ahead of us too? other teams are doing better than us. that is purely down to poor managerial selections. Hate to tell you this mate but most of us are Scottish, we want our national team to do well. personally I think with the correct management that qualification wouldn't be so much of a struggle for Scotland.

17 Mar 2016 11:36:55
Who would be the correct manager?

17 Mar 2016 12:06:27
For me it would be steven pressley.

17 Mar 2016 12:17:48
ignore that, brain freeze, i meant Robbie Neilson.

17 Mar 2016 12:17:57
For me it is anyone that drops the Celtic players for English Prem/ Championship players. that would be a massive step in the right direction.

17 Mar 2016 13:15:20
Derek mcinness, David moyes?, go the foreign route?

17 Mar 2016 14:15:39
What really annoys me about wee Gordon is his constant not picking Jordan Rhodes or Ross McCormack, we have been crying out for a goal scorer yet he leaves out two strikers in great form worth a combined 30 million great management Gordon.

17 Mar 2016 14:34:57
best manager for scotland hmmm? someone with a magic hat i think!

17 Mar 2016 16:02:36
Rhodes struggles to get a game for boro despite his price,

17 Mar 2016 18:54:29
So Gordon is doing a good job then Tommy?

17 Mar 2016 19:23:24
So gordon strachen picks brown. for me a hit or miss in scotland jersey is there better player to pick . yes.
Charlie mulgrew. there's is better players than him to choose from
Steven fletcher. there's better players than him also. spl better than championship in england. no chance so strachen contradicts himself. seeded 3rd but finished 4th in group. failure
Can we pick a player from big price tag or name. no but why can't we pick 1 that banging goals in every week in championship. for me strachen got to go and i think david moyes would be ideal to take over.

18 Mar 2016 06:12:18
Please explain to me seeker how you managed to come to that conclusion? Drugs? Drink? I don't understand what you attempted to say, because Rhodes can't get into the boro team Strachan is doing a good job?
I'm used to struggling to comprehend some of the nonsense some people post, u have just added to that, no point in you trying to rectify your strange conclusion, Il talk with people who understand football
Tommy.

18 Mar 2016 07:39:49
I know my football Tommy. Remember I played at a high level as you did. I just think that your posts always seem to be of a negative nature. What is the point of mentioning Rhodes situation? The poster only mentioned Rhodes and Macormack should have been named in the squad and I agree with him despite him Rhodes not playing regularly with his club at the moment You were conspicuous in your absence in the days following the Dundee game as if you were stunned into silence by the display. Eventually though you appeared with the others pouring cold water over the site warning that we were nowhere near good enough to challenge Celtic next year. I admire your pessimism, not! Let's just see how things pan out shall we. And I don't want to reveal the teams I played for as I fear it may give the game away.
