18 Nov 2016 15:43:15
Jim Baxter documentary on again sun at 11.

17 Nov 2016 20:58:58
Only just noticed, Jim Baxter documentary on BBC alba tonight at 9.

18 Nov 2016 10:48:04
Oh for another Slim Jim! A half back line (so called in those days) of Greig, McKinnon, Baxter would solve our defensive ills and a forward line of Henderson, McMillan, Millar, Brand, Wilson would bring the goals. Just for good measure two classy full backs in Shearer and Caldow and Niven in goal. Oh to have these days back again! I'll be recording that tonight.

18 Nov 2016 11:26:56
Had the pleasure of seeing slim Jim before he moved to Sunderland he was truly world class.

18 Nov 2016 11:56:53
Me too Jaws.

18 Nov 2016 12:13:32
i seen him many times the 2 goals at wembley when eric caldow broke his leg also seen him at blackpool playing or sunderland was also at game that got davie white the sack aganst gornik i think in his second spell at ibrox then wullie waddel got rid o him.

18 Nov 2016 13:14:10
Remember that gornik game for all sorts of reasons large bill . Got my foot broke when a police horse stood on it . Bad day that for me lol.

18 Nov 2016 20:54:07
bet it was i remember the headline in the paper the boy david must go needless to say it was written by the said wullie waddel.

18 Nov 2016 21:13:18
A couple of years ago I was speaking to an ex team mate of Jim Baxter's at Forest. He said Jim was the best player he had ever seen but (shock horror) he liked a bevvy now and again! The guy had invited Jim and his wife to dinner at 7pm one night. Jim turned up at 9pm alone and pished, then proceeded to stagger past the guy and his wife, stumble forward and tear down their curtains before falling down behind the couch to sleep it off. Also remember a famous quote attributed to Jim who announced to a reporter that if he found himself in another winning Gers team against them he got to take them home and put them on his mantelpiece. Priceless.

17 Nov 2016 20:49:11
why not recall Ryan Hardie and Jordan Thompson in January instead of blowing more cash on speculative signings? in away they would be like new signings and would try very hard to prove their worth in the senior sqad.

just a thought.

17 Nov 2016 21:39:27
Agreed bill especially young thompson imo i think he's got the potential to make a difference.

17 Nov 2016 21:56:48
I agree with the sentiment but for me we need 2 players that are a class above what we have already and hardue and thomson would be squad players at best. Celtic brought in dembele and sinclair who have made the difference.

17 Nov 2016 22:13:33
Whilst I agree that bringing back Hardie and Thompson would be a good idea in terms of saving money rather than speculative signings as you call them it also depends what you're bringing them back for. If it's just for squad cover that's OK, s'pose but it may mean Thompson who is starting regularly for Raith may become little more than a benchwarmer (unless you think he is better than our other midfield options when fit) . Hardie who has looked a good prospect is not a regular starter (same with Walsh) in a St. Mirren side struggling to stay in the Championship so hardly seems to be in the kind of form where you're bringing him back to start for us. Don't get me wrong I'd rather we brought through our own youngsters rather than wasting money on questionable signings like e. g Senderos (so far) . I know they say if they're good enough they're old enough but I'm not sure Thompson, Hardie or Walsh are showing they are good enough.

17 Nov 2016 22:40:54
they aren't going to get a lot of game time are they? better where they are.

18 Nov 2016 09:20:43
If we can't finish 2nd with what we have then something is far wrong! Weve been well below the level of performance that we should be displaying! I would rather we looked at players for the summer on pre contracts! We shouldn't spend a dime at present! i'd take akpom etc if arsenal pick up the wages! Good business would see waghorn moved on if we get half a million and bring in a young loanee with parent club paying wages.

18 Nov 2016 11:26:23
Who will akpom play in front of? Use our young boys. Get second place and prepare for next year. We should only sign someone in January if they are going to be in our first team without question. Not someone who will take till march to just about make it in our team.

18 Nov 2016 13:43:14
only people we should bring in is a centre back obviously and maybe a poacher that can run off the shoulder of defenders .
me personally I don't care if its loan deals just to see us through or permanent moves, as long as they do a good job unlike what we have at the moment.

17 Nov 2016 13:24:05
I saw waggy in a video clip.
couldn't hear what he was saying but it looked like he was squaring up to a schoolboy who was giving him abuse.

17 Nov 2016 14:14:10
The young lad gave a wee bit of abuse to Waggy by saying you are shite, Waghorn responded by saying come say that to my face and confronted him. Very much putting the young lad back in his place, I honestly don't see the problem, except from Waggy holding a fish supper.

17 Nov 2016 14:50:40
Waghorn was Bang out of order. "say it to my face" the boy did and Waghorn leaves with his tail between his legs.

No way for an adult let alone a professional footballer to behave. The SFA/ SPLF should throw the book at him for bringing the GAME/ CLUB into disrepute.

17 Nov 2016 15:23:03
The boy said sorry actually cprs1.

How on earth did Waghorn bring the game into disrepute? did he beat the boy black and blue? NO. he confronted a kid that thought he was a big man, rightly so. Does this mean that every adult should take abuse from young kids and not bother about it? Screw that, respect your elders.

17 Nov 2016 15:30:19
I stand corrected, the boy does repeat it, however Waghorn seems rather happy with the response, his parting comment is "good lad".

17 Nov 2016 16:22:43
Only show. Condoning a rangers player intimidating a minor for telling the truth. Classy.

17 Nov 2016 16:42:15
It has nothing to do with the fact Waghorn is a rangers player. I'd stand by any player confronting anyone after receiving abuse. I'd stand by ANYONE after receiving abuse and confronting the person.

17 Nov 2016 16:47:45
He is on big wages and a professional footballer he should not be squaring up to kids in the street for any reason period. The kids right as well and he probably knows it and its struck a nerve with him.

Anyway you don't play pro football if you canny take a slagging it goes with the territory.

I have heard verbals worse than your s*ite being direct at pros and they don't loose the heid or any sleep over it I bet.

17 Nov 2016 17:04:23
onlyshowaround: hahaha I knew someone would bite lol

The Kid had a cheeky pop at Waghorn and was not expecting him to respond. having said that, elders are on to a hiding to nothing these days so have to be very careful

No probs with Wags at all.

17 Nov 2016 17:29:48
The boy is a gers fan too I've heard.

{Ed039's Note - I also heard that BW)

17 Nov 2016 18:00:51
bringing the game into disrepute Jesus Christ. crps you are bonkers your club captain is scott f@cking brown who is the master of bringing the game into disrepute.

17 Nov 2016 18:17:35
What does wages or professional have to do with it? Waghorn is more than entitled to stand his ground.

17 Nov 2016 18:43:00
Cee: read all my posts please :D.

17 Nov 2016 20:51:46
When is this going to end, was the fish supper for him or his family? He asked the lad to say it to his face and he replied good lad and walked off.
End of and everyone is still wetting their pants about it. A non story in a rag, get over it and give waghorn the support he needs to get through a bad patch.

18 Nov 2016 09:36:22
I don't see what Waghorn has done wrong, he's hardly gone nose to nose with the boy. This is a complete non story in my opinion.

18 Nov 2016 11:24:58
He should have just said, "yeah but I've got no mortgage" and walked on. Take a leaf out of James Blunt's book.

He walked back (quite a distance) and "confronted" him. Anything could have happened thereafter. The fact the kid just repeated it whilst eating his lunch just made "Waggy" look more of a plonker.

18 Nov 2016 13:48:44
the wee guy said it back but at the same time the look on his face says he was intimidated and no adult wether you are a professional footballer or not should be intimidating young school boys.

its just a disgrace to have a rangers player do this and to be caught on camera.

he should have just laughed at him walked away the boys is probably a tim.

18 Nov 2016 15:33:39
Tbf he was told early on that you guys don't do walking away.

And fwiw I heard he was a Rangers fan.

Either way it's a bit of a non story- certainly nowhere near the level it's been made out to be.

19 Nov 2016 13:14:19
rangers fan? i don't think so . no proper gers fan would give that abuse to a player . like some of the posts on here make me wonder are they from the other side or the glory hunter 9 in a row followers.

16 Nov 2016 23:08:25
RIP Daniel Prodan. Very sad news.

{Ed039's Note - Just commenting on his injuries only a few hours ago, very sad)

17 Nov 2016 08:48:09
Just seen this in the news! Probably remembered as a Rangers player for all the wrong reasons but was still part of our family.

RIP.

17 Nov 2016 10:21:20
Too young to go. Still fondley remebered by rangers fans in a weird way.

17 Nov 2016 10:41:38
This very sad news puts football firmly into perspective! So sad to hear the devastating news, of the passing of our former player, Daniel Prodan, who was only 44 years old! God rest your soul, Daniel Prodan!

18 Nov 2016 11:27:48
Sad news.

I know he became the butt of some jokes and the go-to-reference for Rangers signing of injured players but I remember him scoring an absolute beauty, a real top top drawer goal, against you in the Champions League. Possibly/ probably the reason you signed him.

Sad news indeed.
