Very encouraged by what’s going on in this window. Very shrewd work going on by murty and Allen. Improving on what we have at very little cost with player that know what it’s all about. Then go again in the summer with a bit of cash to buy 2 or 3 quality players instead of giving a rookie Mexican pretender 8 million n letting him buy his pals players. Looks like Docherty will sign so with that pool in midfield I see murty going for an old 4-4-2 . I would
Fods
Tav Martin Wilson john
Murphy jack Doherty Windass
Morelos Cummings.

Seroius competition in the middle of the park. Only worry with the 2 up top is they will both shoot when there’s a pass on for a tap in. Let’s just hope the burst the net
Anyway that’s just my thoughts as it stands (or nearly stands ie Docherty) but looking brighter for the 2nd half of the season. No surrender

18 Jan 2018 22:11:56
Pedro is Portuguese 😱OMFG

18 Jan 2018 22:37:56
Jack shouldn't get in the starting 11 Imo. don't get all the hype about him.

18 Jan 2018 23:18:31
Goss mcrorie and dozza midfield 3 when all fit

18 Jan 2018 23:33:30
Fod
Tavernier. Martin Wilson. John
Cadias jack/ mcrorie docherty Murphy
Cummings morelos

19 Jan 2018 00:44:35
I never want to see Windass on the left wing ever again!

19 Jan 2018 04:34:58
You can’t be seriously putting Wilson in front of Alves, short memories. Wilson has only had 3-4 good games this season and single handily sold about 8 goals. Alves and Martin all day long with McCrorie sitting in front. Don’t talk about speed as Big davie weir had no speed at all, plus Martin isn’t slow.

19 Jan 2018 07:25:28
Alves can jog on

19 Jan 2018 11:24:31
Wilson all day everyday

19 Jan 2018 15:03:04
i like that team huistra

i think goss might play over jack tho given RJs injury and suspension issues

I wld also like to see dorrans back fit and in that team but i worry his injury may be worse than expected hence glut gf midfielders we’re attracting

19 Jan 2018 15:04:26
I don't think we’ll play a set formation every week. he’ll change it accordingly depending on the opponent. for instance his nxt 2 games will be totally different set ups because of who they are (fraserburgh&sheep)

19 Jan 2018 15:09:50
only problem they will shoot when there's a pass on! 😂😂😂

18 Jan 2018 19:46:16
I bet the Portuguese manager is gutted danny Wilson and David bates are not Portuguese becouse he would take the both to the World Cup along with Pepe exc because they are both better than Alves so they would definitely go if he can lol absolutely ridiculous Alves is a much higher quality to them two yet he seems to get all the stick a few good games and people seem to forget how terrible Wilson has been over the past few years and bates is not that great either really is he.

18 Jan 2018 20:35:27
There's a decent player in Wilson, not so sure about bates, he could become a master.
Am sure having alves at the club has improved all the defenders. He's been unlucky with injuries. A fully fit alves is the best centre half in Scotland.

18 Jan 2018 21:41:59
Pretty cheeky about young Bates
Super prospect
Hopefully Alves has played his last game
Not interested

18 Jan 2018 21:58:41
You have to remember Bates is still a young guy and he didn't get man of the match against them for nothing!

18 Jan 2018 22:10:38
If you’re buying a player south of the boarder then just add another 0 so a £500k player in the SPL is worth £5M in the EPL it seems. Don’t dare expect them to pay that outside of there little corner of the market, they just want to keep all that cash sloshing about down there 😡

18 Jan 2018 22:16:13
Bates has potential but still a long way to go. Wilson been better lately and really hope he lives up to expectations but if Alves is fit he starts for me. Even at his age he’s still in the Portuguese squad . His experience can only be good for our young players come on lads

18 Jan 2018 23:35:14
Bates had a good game against them but over all he is not that good seems like people on hear love to mother the shite out of these young players we had all this with dodoo about he has something special give him time to learn his trade he is 23 that is not young! Bates is 21 Alves at 23 was in Porto first team then look in the premiership John stones is only 23 harry winks 21 ldeli alli look at what there doing. We're is the cut off between young and no longer young? Seems like to me some rangers fans are totally obsessed with young talent and call them young and give that young boy a game nonsense untill there like mid 20s just hopeful there going to become a star because they did a few nice touches in a game every so often. Put it this way if bates was foreign and signed from some team in Europe and not raith but played excactly the same over the last two years everyone would be saying get that bates out he is shocking!

19 Jan 2018 02:04:20
Bates MOTM performances against them and the sheep at their midden mind.

Yes he will have his bad games as he’s still learning, just like Mcrorie has had his bad games vs Hamilton at home and Killie away.

Bates and Mcrorie are prospects, let’s not ruin them by being negative and slating them everytime they have a poor game.

Bates was the best thing since sliced bread after he old firm game and our ever-fickle ‘fans’ have turned on him already because he had a bad game in a friendly in the US. No words for folk like that.

19 Jan 2018 11:48:08
21 very young for a cu i think give him the rest of this season and he will be the best we have had in years as long as he ha s decent players beside him is paved, Martin

19 Jan 2018 15:05:09
Bates still got a lot to learn but u can just see by the way he plays, he wants to be here unlike the bang average Alves.

18 Jan 2018 18:45:02
Leeds just sign a player from Middlesbrough for 4.5mill who hasn’t played since dec 2nd yet offer 500k for windass. the English clubs think they can offer peanuts just because the league is less attractive.

18 Jan 2018 21:17:44
Maybe he was just injured tho

18 Jan 2018 21:53:00
Few clubs in Scotland saying that about us though

19 Jan 2018 07:51:36
Keep hearing about 'market value's
1 there has to be a market
2 nobody else bidding over 100k in Scotland
So why is when we bid over half a million for a player there's an outcry.?

19 Jan 2018 11:49:32
Aye they say that about us and then we'll for less to other teams down south of in this league. But **** them

18 Jan 2018 17:41:24
After I pretty much wrote rossiter off, turns out he is back in training. Fingers crossed he comes through it this time.

18 Jan 2018 17:53:08
Here's hoping that he is fit now but will need game time to get match fit so as I said earlier in the week the best thing for him and Rangers would be to get him out on a development loan to a SPL team for match fitness plus to see if he can cut it and stay fit

18 Jan 2018 18:06:49
There has been a few false dawns with Rossiter and I truly hope he can get fit and start playing but I think there is something underlying that'll prevent him from playing consistently and we should get the boy off the payroll ASAP.

18 Jan 2018 18:10:55
He will be fit for about a week, then injured again no doubt.

18 Jan 2018 18:45:49
I hope he gets fit and back playing as he is by far the best DM we have.

18 Jan 2018 18:48:43
I always had high hopes for Rossiter, when we signed him he was captain of England U19’s at a tournament I remember. The way I see it is he has 5 months to stay fit, get in the team and start delivering performances. He would be like a £3m signing. Jury is out though and if he fails on any of the 3 then we have to get rid in the summer

18 Jan 2018 20:11:19
Blue nose what do you base that statement on? His performances at an under 21 tournament? From what I've seen of him playimg for us so far there was a good young player with potential that's it.

18 Jan 2018 20:12:37
Personally I'm delighted to see the boy back in training. He's a young lad with massive potential. Let's not be hasty in getting rid of him

18 Jan 2018 20:17:25
Really think he will never get and stay fit. Just one of these players who will always be injured. Footballers these days seem to think you should be 100 percent before you can play. Nonsense. Butchers, browns, Fergusons play.

18 Jan 2018 20:44:58
To injury prone, needs to go lads. need to think nowadays where we could put his wages, it could be another 12 months before we could even think about getting any money for him if we sell never mind keep him injury free.

18 Jan 2018 22:53:50
You can't judge a players ability on a handful of games. IF only he could stay fit.

19 Jan 2018 08:45:08
I think Rossiter needs to be given a chance he's young if you look at Stevn Gerrard he had the same type of problem missed a lot of games when he was young and still filling out then look what happened he was one of the best midfielders of his generation down south he was U19 captain so they had hopes for him so I'd stick with him

19 Jan 2018 09:12:27
Ross McCrorie has made that DM position his own. Would take McCrorie over Rossiter all day long.

19 Jan 2018 11:52:24
A fit crossover would be the cherry on top of a pretty good january

19 Jan 2018 15:01:33
I think this has got to be his last chance and if he breaks down again its time to cut our losses. i really feel for the boy though

18 Jan 2018 15:51:56
Think our next 2 January signings should be Wilson and Bates on new contracts as both have performed well in our last few games since Murty took over.

18 Jan 2018 16:19:47
Murty said they were discussing a new contract with wilson.

18 Jan 2018 17:01:21
Bates has been good but he showed in Florida cup some bad touches and put us under pressure at times. Hopefully time will tell with older heads like Alves and Martin he can only learn.

18 Jan 2018 17:32:42
I agree about Bates showing some bad touches in cup but he will only be a squad player for the next couple of years but will improve with time which he has on his side

18 Jan 2018 19:34:08
Think bates should go out on loan play week in week out until end of season he is doing well but is still a little raw and with Martin Alves Wilson and cardoso we have cover think it will do him good.

19 Jan 2018 13:48:57
He is 21 not 18 he should be realistically be breaking through just now or be sent on loan to develop in English championship somewhere or league 1

18 Jan 2018 15:22:20
I think windass is 1.5 mill player if we don't get that and 10 or 15 percent sell on then I think the bord haven't changed they say 1 thing then **** us over by doing another

18 Jan 2018
New image uploaded to the
Rangers Player Sightings page entitled, Shut them all up

18 Jan 2018 15:48:10
What player?

18 Jan 2018 15:02:49
I would rather docherty as in 2 or 3 years we have a potential to make real money ie 2/ 3 mill which is much needed brining in another loan the squad will never improve over time. Just a thought guys about Hartlepool they need 200k to avoid administration could we not get 2 or 3 players with sum potential to improve our squad?

18 Jan 2018 15:16:14
they are 17th in the national league so i'm going to take a wild guess and say no. their players will be guff

18 Jan 2018 15:26:40
You do know hartlepool are non league.

18 Jan 2018 15:57:42
have they got any buddy

18 Jan 2018 10:36:23
Hydnman is a very good players and has proved this when he was at us already the lad can score and create goal something we lack in centre mid if we where to make a move for him on loan i would ask bourmouth for first refusal on him if he does not break into there first team at start next season.
with the players we have signed already and squad deph we now have at our disposale i think we will be much closer to celtic come end of the season.

18 Jan 2018 12:28:16
Craig I can't agree with you we have enough loan players we need to get a settled squad not one where we are chopping and changing every transfer window one loan deal for another if Docherty is in their sight get him in he is young Scottish and has played in this league if you could get him in on a three or four year deal it would be good business Hyndman would only be here to get game time then back down south I don't see Rangers as a club who are here to help players get game time

18 Jan 2018 13:35:08
Hyndman for me would be a quality addition to this team as i said i would ask bourmouth for first refusal on the lad if he doesn't make it into there first team he has played for us before and would improve the team.

as for the lad docherty i like the look of him and would like to see him play for us but untill wee match that asking price hamilton will not sell him to us

18 Jan 2018 14:08:51
Hyndman was pretty underwhelming in his first spell, looked lost in the old firm game and scored the odd goal against lesser competition. Would much prefer Docherty permanently than Hyndman on loan.

18 Jan 2018 14:34:26
may it be that we are wanting to sign both off them dochery and hyndman

18 Jan 2018 15:28:48
We won't sign both

18 Jan 2018 16:00:53
JM22 - apologies but disagree over Hyndman. Lad is excellent and Pedro did him no favours towards the end of last season . Good vision, great passer and had a goal threat - will do for me. To be honest I’m not sure we are even in for him, could be his name being banded about to ensure clubs “ Hamilton “ realize we have other options

18 Jan 2018 10:31:25
not getting carried away here about this windows signings. but my god is it good to see a wee bit of decent competition in the squad.

18 Jan 2018 10:30:47
All this talk about our low offers is starting to annoy me.
We all want to buy as cheap as we can its human nature. If I go to buy I have a budget in mind and will look to get what I want within that price.
The club is no different it is then up to the clubs to say yes or no. I don't see where we have said what we have offered, it seems to be the other clubs or press. Gone are the days when things like this were kept behind closed doors the way things should be done.
As a club we have to live within our budgets or we will be back to admin which other clubs in Scotland would love to happen.
Hearts in the summer apparently turned down £500000 for Walker only to sell him for £300000. Was this a clever move or had Celtic made the same offer would they have accepted it we will never know. Everyone has a value for there players and if not reached we can't discuss with the player. The club and the press are the ones that tell the player we are interested in them and have not met their value for the player not us. So why blame us for unsettling their players?
Lots on here would like us just to hand out a blank cheque for players we can not do that again or we will never stop them getting 10 in a row.
We should be happy that we have a value for a player and walking away if not meeting there valuation. Every deal we do is always published in the press this is where the issue starts they then are only to happy to then state we are heading for admin or can't afford to buy. We are the biggest story the press have.
I for one am happy with business so far but would like to see a few players being sold to free up wages and we all have our own ideas who they players should be.

18 Jan 2018 12:22:31
Players to go Kranjcar Bruno (Miller) - Coach role

All these players are on big wages and all 3 contract runs out at the end of the season. Then there will be huge savings on wages.

18 Jan 2018 13:42:03
You can add Herrera, Hodson and Dalcio to that lost as well

18 Jan 2018 14:26:19
Bruno signed a 2 year deal

18 Jan 2018 10:27:42
When's our next game guys.

18 Jan 2018 11:51:55
If this is a serious question it's this Sunday lunchtime away to Fraserburgh in the Cup.

18 Jan 2018 12:25:08
Yes 12pm KO Sky Sports!

18 Jan 2018 10:10:01
Does anyone think we are top heavy with midfield players now. I can count 10 going for 3 or 4 places. Only 2 if we play 2 wingers and 2 front men

18 Jan 2018 11:50:38
Not really Isle of Mull when you consider the loan players are not ours and the 10 that you count some of which are dross! So I wouldn't be allowing too many players to leave this window.

18 Jan 2018 12:29:01
Take out Rossiter and Kranjcar I don’t count them in our midfield. I think Kranjcar should never play again and just retire. I do hope Rossiter gets thru his injury worry’s as he would be a great player.

18 Jan 2018 09:55:03
Why are the media going with the "hearts pip rangers to sign Naismith" patter? he was in the media pleading to get back to us, surely if we wanted him we would have went for him, we didn't want him so we didn't go for him, now all of a sudden hearts beat us to sign him. lazy journalism me thinks.

18 Jan 2018 12:28:38
It's because it's a better headline for them than "Hearts sign player that wanted to sign for Rangers but they weren't interested in him"

18 Jan 2018 17:35:48
thought he said he was only interested in 2 clubs anyway

18 Jan 2018 09:06:36
Why are we so excites about Hyndman, he was ok when he was with us before but please not another loan signing, his manager has already said it would only be a loan deal no option to buy just to get game time, we need to get players in who will be with us for a few years (unless we are offered good money for them ) build a team, not to many loan deals as if there is no option to buy we will never get a settled side so for me go get Docherty from Hamilton on a permanent deal
As for people saying get rid of players, yes we need to free up some positions but the problem we have is who will take them, these players have contracts and are on good money so we might have to buy the contracts out again more money.

18 Jan 2018 09:14:46
I don't believe their is any truth in the Hyndman speculation tbh.

18 Jan 2018 09:30:33
Excellent post. I think most of our recent loan signings will lead to more permanent deals and I agree on your Docherty comment. Let's just get serious about it if that's what the DOF wants and meet Hamilton's price and sign the player. Funny - not funny at all - how we paid the asking price from Mexico. We haven't paid a penny to a Scottish team for a player since we signed O'Halloran from St Johnstone. We are left or burdened with a few players on high wages who are on a good wicket and no one else will take them off our hands. Hindsight's great I know but some of these mistakes should never have been allowed to happen.

18 Jan 2018 10:10:59
Why is it as soon as Rangers attempt to buy a Scottish player and let’s remember keep the money in Scotland they always go all bolshie on us and the price suddenly goes through the roof?
No one likes us huh?
My two pence worth, push the boat out for Docherty, forget the lad at Killie and punt a few of the duds out, best window ever.

18 Jan 2018 14:59:22
I agree with you there, scotty. Whether some of the loans become permanent or not I prefer to see Murty going after younger players

18 Jan 2018 07:15:25
So glad we now finally have a squad as I think it was MW and PC biggest mistake saying they only wanted a small squad to work with. Now we have cover in most positions and good competition. Still think we are thin on the right but do have cover in Martin Hodson MOH and dodoo.

Now we must concentrate on bringing in Docherty which will complete our midfield.

Then we must look to getting large earners of the wage bill that are not first team picks. Hopefully we can send some out on loan then we can recall them if needed that way we can maintain a strong squad which should help us hit second easily

Which players do you all think we should look to loaning out?

18 Jan 2018 07:23:46
Id get shot of Alves and Krankjar

18 Jan 2018 09:19:50
Agree with Alves an Krancjar.

Is Krancjar's contract not up at the end of the season?

Problem with Alves is he commands a high wage and he is injury prone (currently injured also) at 36 years old, can't see anybody wanting to sign him tbh. Another waste of money if you ask me. Think of the players we could have brought in for not even half of his wages.

Review Of The Day 18th January 2018

18 Jan 2018 06:31:48
{Ed's Note - we have posted a new article entitled, Review Of The Day 18th January 2018

18 Jan 2018 18:38:28
Just tell Alves he is third or fourth choice, which I'd say he is. He will be out of Scotland like snow off a dyke. He is only interested in World Cup, nothing up with that. Saves us 30K plus. We only paid 500k for him, so shift him for 300k.
Anyone know what's happening with mccrorie.
