spurs today signed Souleymane Coulibaly from siena for £2m he was in the under 17 world cup with ivory coast scored 9 goals in 4 games why are rangers not looking in these tourneys this lad is gonna be a star hes a cracking player and is no doubt gonna be worth a fortune in a few yrs I THINK THE SCOUTING NETWORK AT RANGERS IS A JOKE AND I THINK MR WHYTE SHOULD LOOK INTO SPENDING SOME MONEY GETTING A DECENT NETWORK IN PLACE arsenal and the likes spend fortunes scouting africa and south america who do we have neil murray and john brown ffs ....we could employ some ex players get albertz to do scouting in germany r.gough in USA . mols in holland .. laudrup in denmark .....

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Cause Neil Murray is one of the most respected agents in Europe? He owns his own agency in Switzerland ffs

Agree2 Disagree0

Because we dont get £60 million a year to spend from sky or we, d pick up some cheap 2 or 3 million pound 17 year olds thats our transfer budget for 3 first team players .

Agree1 Disagree0

The last three years Rangers have had no money to spend. We have hardly bought a player in the last two years; and when we have the majority have been British based players. Therefore no real need for expensive scouting systems. When trying to reduce our budget the scouting network would have been greatly reduced. This could well present a problem for Rangers, especially in this transfer market, as we may settle for the first player/players that are identified, now that we are active in the market. We do not have the the time to be patient to analyse markets properly and get the best deals. I hope Whyte does spend money on improving our scouting networks/system; we need to identify future talent and markets such as in Asia and perhaps South America as they may become very lucrative if we can utilise them effectively. Unfortunately, Celtic, as they have been able to increase their scouting budget, are ahead of us in this sense with the acquisition of players such as Nakamura, and now more recently Kayal and Izzaguire.

Anyone got the Daily Record? Whats does it say on the back page?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It says we dont need tae sign cuellar bartley or davie weir because weve got kirk(superman)Broadfoot who will play in three positions at once -carrying an injury- and asking for a transfer all at the same time and if he does, nt get his own way he, ll ask for a free transfer tae septic.lol

Get real

Celts are bookies favourites for the title.......Miko {Ed046's Note - celtic were also the favourites for the last 3 years......Look how that ended

i think ppl are over panicing a bit about players before champs league deadline, the dead line is for the 2 qualifiers not the whole tournament.
Even if we dont sign anyone the main group of players can do the job... are you telling me you dont think that
McGregor
Broadfoot Whity Weir Papac
Ortiz Mcculloch Davis Wylde
Jelavic Naismith

With full fitness cant beat this swedish mob? We may scrape it but we will win.
I was the bringer of doom until i read the interview on sunday with whyte, i dont belive for a sec we will gt 20M to spend however i do belive they will have the singings but the right ones and if it takes till aug to get them then so be it, we can grind it out. Blue grit

Hey guys, we're sound......we're gonna kick your ass next season.

There's absolutely no danger of Cuellar signing and I'll bet anyone that Whyte won't let McMoist spend any more than £500k on any player. You're all in fantasy land, oh and Gers are debt free too, haha

On a serious note though, Commons, Ledley, Kayal and Brown is, IMO, the best midfield in Scotland by a long stretch and Celts have the better squad - No two ways about it

All bookies have Celts as favourites for the title and Hoops to be top scorer.

Ed47, how do you see it as it stands at the moment, because some of the posts on here are ridiculous......Miko

That midfield was f***in majic against inverness miko ha ha ha what's it like having to go the whole summer talking s**te because you's were the fail fail brigade again u must be used 2 to it by now come on tell us what u got up to, oh no need u have never been off our site I don't normally give a name but for u I will how about the chosen 1 I can't comment on the ridiculous posts on your site as I am scared I will catch something if I went on it can't wait till I hear more off your colin nish keeps me happy and anyway how much of your giro do u use to pay up your pc

Agree0 Disagree0

In regards to your post Miko, I wouldn't necessarily say Celtic have the best midfiled in Scotland...You's most certainly have two of the best players in Izaguirre and Commons...I honestly don't particularly rate Kayal though but at the same time I wouldn't for a second think he wasn't a threat.

Skillwise and uperficially, as it currently stands you's do have the better startring 11 and stronger squad(Primarily due to size) but I'd honestly say we have the ''Better'' squad as I think we have proved.

We've the best Keeper-McGregor, Best Defender in Bougherra along with Izaguirre, best midfielder in Davis and we have the best striker in Jelavic.

I'm as loyal to my team as they come but I'm also honest, and I think this is a fair assessment. Potentially Celtic could have a very dangerous team this year but you have woeful defence and we have amazing staying power/perserverance but that is running on empty with the current tired bodies.

Is Kirk Broadfoot having a laugh? I'd happily drive that man to where ever it is he wants to go And I Don't even fecking drive

Believable4 Unbelievable1

He's chanting about being a regular in the first team. Nobody in our squad (as small as it is) is guaranteed a starting position. He'll have to get his head down and work hard (which i'm sure he does), try and stay injury free and take his chance when it comes. He'll also have to calm down a bit away from football. If he's unwilling to do that then he doesn't deserve to be wearing the Rangers jersey. Or subs trackie lol

I am deligjted coisty is going for tried and tested players. He is a new manager and i was worried he was going yolto buy lots of cheap johnny foreigners like them frae ra doo hut in the east.
Here for what its worth would be what i would do.
Miller 1 mill
Hutton 2 mill
Cuellar 2 mill
Brunt 3 mill
Bartley loan
Weiss loan.

That gives us defensive cover with centre halfs and attacking full back. Midfield cover with bartley too. Left sided mid in brunt not easy to find and a bluenose. Winger in weiss or central "in the hole type". CF in miller who frightens every defender. Thats around 8 mill to buy, no risks and all will sweat blood. Another centre mid i agree would be good but i cant think of one i like or can afford.
In jan window or next summer we could buy the odd foreigner if required.
BTW we will play with 2 up. Coisty hated the sole striker role.

If we got above my team would be
greegs
Hutton, cuellar, boogie or bartly, whittaker
Naismith, davis, edu, brunt
Jellyfish, miller
Subs: laff, (unfortunate), weiss, mcculloch, weir, papac, ness, hutton, wylde.
Quite strong methinks.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Are you bonkers big chap. you would have edu in the team mculloch is 10 times a player he is. mculloch is not the greatest but edu would struggle to play for the manky mob. watp gbtq.

18 Jul 2011 19:24:38
Just gonna give my take on what we have just now, and what I feel we need at Rangers, in order to be successful both at home and abroad in the 2011/12 season.

Never mind all this talk of "X amount for transfers" and "Y amount for wages" ... All this does is provoke crazy speculation, as proved on here on a day to day basis. I'm sure Ally, Mr Whyte and the rest are working very hard to enhance the squad with new players and bring the freshness that we clearly need.

The spine of our team is strong. We have 2 solid goalkeepers who will be here till the end of their careers. We also have tied down a very versatile player in Steven Whittaker, our best technical player in Steven Davis and have strong characters like Steven Naismith and Lee McCulloch on deals for a few more years yet, as well as Sasa Papac for one more year at least.

One thing that jumps out at me is the potential in this squad, we have a great mix of youth and experience. Steven Davis, Steven Naismith, Kyle Lafferty, Steven Whittaker and of course Allan McGregor are all still relatively young but have been around for a while and no what it takes to win titles on a regular basis. On top of this we have Nikica Jelavic who is top class and could be here for 1 maybe 2 more years.

Then we have the youngsters.

Gregg Wylde, for me, has a lot to learn. He has pace to burn and can beat a man, but he needs to learn when to release the ball and when to run at men. His delivery is also quite inconsistent and he drifts in and out of games a little too much.

Kyle Hutton is a big prospect in my opinion. He has a bit of everything. Power, pace, balance, he can tackle, shoot, pass long, pass short and has a great engine. He has a good temperament and never hides, I love that in a youngster.

Ability wise, Jamie Ness reminds me a lot of a young Barry Ferguson in the way that he has a great range of passing and knows when to keep it simple, as well as having the eye to pick out a longer pass with killer accuracy. However, he does not impose himself on games enough and is often found hiding.

John Fleck may not seem like a youngster any longer, but he is younger than all of the above 3. He has the most natural abilty I've seen in a young lad at Rangers, and simply needs games to get his confidence up again. Hopefully he fulfills his potential here, as I would hate to see a repeat of the Charlie Adam situation with John... Who I believe could be even better than Charlie is now.

Kane Hemmings has just come on the scene and looks strong, powerful, quick and seems to have an eye for goal.

So taking all this into account, I feel we need to add 6 players on top of the signing of Juan Manuel Ortiz. 1 central defender, 1 left back, 1 central midfielder, 1 winger and 2 strikers would be on the list for me. The players I would most like to see would be...

Carlos Cuellar (£2m)
Lee Wallace (£1.5m)
Alexei Eremenko (Free)
David Templeton (£2m)
David Goodwillie (£1.5m + add ons)
Kenny Miller (£1m)

On top of these 6, I would like to see the following loan signings at the end of the window:

Kyle Bartley (Loan with option to buy)
Vladimir Weiss (Loan with option to buy)

This would give us another 8 players who would bring their own qualities to our squad and continues the trend of having a mix of youth and experience.

I would also sell Kirk Broadfoot, James Beattie and Maurice Edu as I don't think they are good enough unfortunately.

This would leave us with a squad of:

1. McGregor (c)
2. Whittaker
3. Weir
4. Cuellar
5. Papac
6. McCulloch
7. Naismith (vc)
8. Davis
9. Miller
10. Fleck
11. Lafferty
12. Wallace
13. Alexander
14. Hutton
15. Healy
16. Ness
17. Templeton
18. Jelavic
19. Goodwillie
20. Weiss
21. Bartley
22. Eremenko
23. Wylde
24. Bougherra
25. Cole
26. Hemmings
28. Kerkar
29. Little

Anyway these are just my own thoughts so let me know what you all think.

You have any thoughts on this Ed?

Cheers,

Steven.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Omg is someone actually talking sensible on thiis site

thankyou come again

Agree6 Disagree1

We would win the treble with that team this year and then do well in europe again

Agree6 Disagree1

Are you having a "laugh" Jamie Ness is always found hiding this young man will attract more interest than most players at Ibrox in the next couple of seasons, he has more calm and composure than any midfielder in the SPL and will stick out like a sore thumb with the cheque book teams down south. Sorry mate but you were watching a different player from me last season, he is also one of the factors that Rangers fans need not worry about the lack of signings because he is the real deal and will put the s**ts up Lennon next season. No i'm not his agent but a fan who never saw him hiding once last season.

Agree0 Disagree1

You obviously weren't up at Pittodrie when we won 1-0 then. He barely touched the ball for the whole game. Too quiet on the pitch, he will grow with time, but is not as good as your making out at the moment. People like you putting pressure like that on him will ruin the lad. Look at John Fleck, he got all this talk at 17, and people wonder why he's low on confidence, because he hasn't lived up to the "new Wayne Rooney" tag. Give the guys a chance

Agree1 Disagree0

Never read so much pish in my life whatever i say will not have any bearing on how ness develops however he is one of a few who played in a winning team at Pittodrie in recent years, maybe he was'nt required to have much of an impact in that game as they were a poor lot anyway, dont blame people like me for Fleck struggling at Ibrox its obvious he lacks in confidence but he, s not the finished article yet so dont put Fleck on a pedestal just yet he, s not as good as you think. Lets just**tch and see i think Ness will be in the team a lot more than Fleck this season as composure allows maturity to shine through and i think the lad has the temperment to deliver and if Smith thought this then Ally will have sat up and took notice. As we are fickle as Rangers fans just watch this space and then you can boot my arse if he fails to deliver.

kenny miller no longer allowed to train with burzaspor..

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Spotted this myself aswell . . Bursaspor state that any player who wants to leave the club don't train with the first team. They also haven't included him in the squad for past 3 pre-season friendlys. . Website also claims bursaspor want 1.5m EU for him ( £1.1m -£ 1.2m ) which coincidentally enough is apparently the fee agreed between the 2 clubs. . .

picture the scene, 15 mins into the 2nd half, rangers 2-0 down and struggling, young supers tactics dont seem to be working, he looks up to the stand with a puzzled look on his face in the hope for and old pal to come to his aid, he looks again in despair for his waist-coated friend and to his disbelief the waist-coated friend isnt running down the stairs to help this young man out, how odd thought young super.oh dear gasped young super think i, ll give the wily waist-coated old fox a call as he is a legned and a sir, ring ring ring ring ring-you have reached the orange answer phone please lea..thumpthe game finished to a chorus of boos.
In Ally We Trust?
Did Walter?Does Mr Whyte?Do You?

Believable1 Unbelievable7

Whats the reason for not trusting him, obviously walter didas he would not have recommended him or give him cup games.
and obviously mr whyite trusts him as he would not have gave him such a high transfer kitty, so take your poison little mind back to your own page (the best of the rest) and talk about how good a signing iwulumo is going to be.

went from robbie keane to shane long to craig bellamy to CHRIS IWULUMO.

be afraid be very afraid if you lot keep this up you will be looking back to hearts rather than looking forward to the champs.

Walter trusted him?is that why he was constantly running down from his seat in the stand to bail him out.whyte only trusts him to go for walters ex players and old targets, id rather have iwulumo than james beattie, heard it was super who wanted beattie in the first place, rolf

Agree1 Disagree2

Im sure Ally's up to the task. At least if hes findin it tough he's got someone to phone. Walter Smith. Next time Lennon realises hes up s**te creek without a paddle (happens every other game) will he phone his tactically skilled predecessor tony mowbary? Dinae think so. Four in a Row for Super Ally.

Agree1 Disagree1

Beattie came to scottish football with a cracking record and fine i will accept he has not done anything near what he showed in the prem.

mistakes are made and buying him was a mistake. which we will learn from 1 million lost not the end of the world.

juarez 3 million down the drain
cha du ri 1 mill down the drain,
daryl murphy 2.5 mill down the drain.
rasmusen 2 mill down the drain
hoivelt (spelling) 1.5 mill down the drain

need i continue. 10 million on duds no champs league money, iwulumo must be top end of your budget.

what next tommy johnson done okii in the masters on saturday it will be him you lot will be signing.

now you are taking mphela on trail, is this the same mphela rangers decided wasnt good enough last year?

you lot have no imaginiation, rangers should start putting out press releases saying tyhey are going to sign romario because you would see him in a celtic shirt the next day on 20k a week.

you lot have a 30 man squad and are desperate to get rid of some, only problem is you pay them fortunes and they are pants, they are quite happy sitting on a wage that no other manager is daft enough to pay them.

stormy waters ahead.

This is it guys, i'm not saying i know anything or have any inside news.I just have a good feeling about today, a signing is coming......i can feel it

Namba

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I really hope your right and i hope it's a couple of defenders because i'm slightly worried about the back line at the moment. I'll believe it when i see it. The goings on the last couple of weeks have left me quite feeling quite synical every time i hear about new signings We don't seem to have the knack of getting deals done quickly which is worrying because it alerts other interested clubs and the septic scouting network

Agree0 Disagree0

It's players agents that alert clubs to their availability. If Rangers offer the right money, deals will get done quickly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate but you feeling it isnt enough, i actually have a pit in my stomach fearing that we are going to lose out on king carlos, and yeh we do seem to drag our heels when trying to sign someone, all this talk of 15-20 million, 34 players signed before saturday, a marquee signing. get it sorted and we wiil have flame baws sacked before xmas..

Back to reality with these money grabbers Silverware an medals for life, money means nothing when ur remembered forever a champion

Yeh but strachan signed willo flood, enough said

Think I'd rather have the £2m a year wages, than a bit of tin lying gathering dust.

Agree0 Disagree6

Hes signed conway from scotland that it.

Agree2 Disagree4

Aye he might have only signed Conway so far u t**t, but he's after every player we've been linked with Conway, goodwill, Wallace, miller. He wants robson an Thompson from boro, he wanted Davis, who knows who else the t**t is tranna poach from us That's why gers came out an said they weren't telling anymore players they were interested until it was formally signed Supposedly cuellar turned them down aswell

It would seem we are all confident for next season, me included esPecially if we get Curly and perhaps this Estabariggia dude But let's just remember we signed next to nothing for years and still won everything worth winning, the tic have the same squad as last year I doubt anyone will leave but I do believe they will be better than last season. Lennon will be key( obvious statement perhaps) will his temperament be up to the job, will he stay out of controversy, will he carry some dignity? He could make or break their season. For me Ally needs a quick start and the chance to do that is there with Hearts, who I think will be the main contenders outside the Old Firm. A win there will be tremendous boost for all. My prediction Rangers 3-1. WATP

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yes thats all true, , but what you forget, , we dont have Walter this year, , do you honestly think we would have won the league last year without him, , , , I dont

Agree5 Disagree0

Rangers squad is more threadbare now than at the end of last season, whereas Celtic have signed 3 players and will almost certainly sign a goalkeeper.

Agree1 Disagree0

A really fair point about Smith. I would name a stand after the man. Took a lot of flack for his style, but he is a legend for me. My score prediction of 3-1 tells you that I believe in Ally. I'm almost certain that the team will play for Ally. The question is what formation will he play? Will he be more open and attacking? To contradict myself a mo I honestly think the changes to formation that was forced on Walter (injuries) is what one us the league. Mainly the introduction of 442 and Wylde out left. Not that the lad is a great player just that he forced the full backs back Allowing a more attacking style if play Any thoughts to Ally style Ed? {Ed047's Note - Smith played to what he believed were the strengths of the squad. Hopefully McCoist will have more options in a number of players come in and I suspect he'll be a bit more adventurous

Agree0 Disagree0

Celtic have signed 3 player yes :-

wilson not played in 6 months couldnt get in the forrest team.

to the person who posted the comment about bursaspor signing a new player and miller leaving heres the full story below.Kenny Miller has sent a message to the Busaspor management via his agent, informing them of his desire to return to Scotland in order to be closer to his family. The Scottish international has also agreed a contract with Scottish Premier League side, Glasgow Rangers.

Bursaspor have therefore targeted Sierra Leone international Mohamed Bangura as Kenny Millers replacement. The 21 year old international currently plays for Swedish club AIK, scoring 11 goals in 27 appearances in his first season.

Who is Mohamed Bangura:
Date of birth: 27 July 1989 (age 21)
Place of birth: Kambia, Sierra Leone
Height: 1.77 m (5 ft 9 1⁄2 in)
Playing position: Forward

sounds a no bad wee player worth a punt lol haha ?

Who here thinks mcgregor is best keeper in britain i do see him in champs league and fr scotland

Believable19 Unbelievable0

I think hes the best keeper in britain too the saves he has made to keep us in games/championships eg the game against werder bremen the games against celtic and especialy the one where he saved from samaras mcgregor is a top top goalkeeper

Agree7 Disagree0

His best save ability not mopst important was fr scotland against czech republic i remeber it gordon banks stuff

Agree2 Disagree0

I think the one against bremen as if that went in it would have changed the game around he is one of the best shot stoppers in the world i would say anyway

Agree5 Disagree0

Pepe Reina, Peter Cech, Joe Hart, Shay Given, Kasper Schmeichel, Gomes, Ben Foster, DeGea, will we go on?

Agree1 Disagree6

McGregor is every bit as good as Reina, Cech, Hart, De Gea and Given. As for Gomes, dont make me laugh the guy is a liability. And Schmeichel is living off his father's name, Leeds got shot of him to Leicester because, in the words of manager Simon Grayson they, "lost too many goals which would have been avoidable with a higher quality of goalkeeper" ... So stop talking garbage.

Agree1 Disagree0

Must be a Tom that posted the last message, kasper schmicheal, championship No no, given 5 games in 2 years, because they have been linked with Celtic must mean they are better

Gomes is worse than calamity James and spurs have signed a 40 y/o to replace him Petr chech is good however I would look good in goals infront of the best defence in the league, de gea what because united have spent alot of money on a keeper he must be good, barres, tiabi

And Joe hart made more mistakes than anyone last season

But I agree that that prow reina is good

Next you will be saying fraser foster and pietikosa are better

Your list is wrong face it, an back back to ur own page to get excited about signing iwulumo

Agree2 Disagree1

Kasper Schmeichel, Gomes, =))=))

Agree0 Disagree0

Pietikosa nickname at SPURS is youtube because even youtube couldnae make him look good and thats saying something Ps thanks for posting Iwulumo name couldnae remember it for laffn just remembered it sounded like ayefeckno

Agree0 Disagree0

Given is a sub an doesnt even play he is in top 5 but but i dont believe he is the best

Agree0 Disagree0

Given is the only one out of that list apart from Reina that I'd rate as a keeper, regardless of him being a hateful *obscenity* 10/11 season...Shagger proved his worth, underrated and deserves much more credit.

Agree1 Disagree0

Some better than him but kasper f***ing schemicael

Agree0 Disagree1

Pepe Reina - Yes
Peter Cech - Personally dont rate him since returned from head injury
Joe Hart - Yes
Shay Given - No
Kasper Schmeichel - Will become better than mcgregor
Gomes - Show stopping good , all round goal keeper no
Ben Foster - dont rate him atawl
DeGea - in top 5 goal keepers in the world.

My opinion.

Agree1 Disagree0

Have known Davo's wife and her family for over 23 years and also know Davis himself...Anyone who know's him would know he's not a confrontational guy and whilst Naisy oftens admits to being grumpy in training and on the pitch...he's not gonna give up his dream of being a Bear over the sake of an arguement.
