If ever there is a case for a trial without a jury, it is the Rangers fraud one.
Firstly, it will be almost impossible to select a jury that is impartial.
Secondly, specialist knowledge in company law would be invaluable.
Thirdly, there is not a potential juror that will not have been influenced by media coverage.
They must all be tried and get whatever they deserve, if guilty, but getting to that verdict will be very, very difficult

So every legal case from now on that makes the papers and the web we just disband the Scots Legal system as maybe jurors are too stupid to judge the case on its legal merits rather than media speculation?

A 5 judge system would in fact be better for the complexity of fraud trials but regarding media and its' influence you have no option considering social media coverage of a cat farting goes global

This is exactly why most countries in Europe do not have a jury system for this type of trial, if at all.
Mind you some of the decision there are not great

I believe what BB is trying to say -
If the trial is made up of the unwashed it will go towards a not guilty verdict
and
If they are of the Rangers minded intelligent persuasion then it will be guilty.
But fellow bears please remember if it is a particularly difficult and intricate case(s) the judge will direct the jury.

KT, I don't think it is a dis-service to anyone in this particular instance. The circumstances are unique, with every move disected by the media, with everybody and their granny having an opinion. It is just not a situation that a judge can ask you to forget everything that you've heard and instruct a media ban on publishing comment.
Your opinion is otherwise, but I beg to differ. Fraud trials are controlled by well briefed barristers and the lingo is way above most people's head.

For the best part of four years the directors at Rangers have been saying it is fine - but we all know different - didn't we?
Everything will be fine once all those that are charged and to be charged start whining like a stuck pig and name names. It will be very interesting what comes out in the cross statements and the trial, oh yes!!

billy b if the fiscal is worth his salt he or she will have no difficulty getting a result especially in a fraud case where unless its belts and braces it would not go to trial

I have called Whyte, Green etc spivs from the start, agreed? Wouldn't me celebrating a not guilty verdict mean I encourage spivs etc? So if their actions were illegal then good they deserve guilty. So ABH is correct, the rest of you just don't seem to have the brains to appreciate some of us are CONSISTENT in our criticism of these people. Martybhoy3 The reason DK has loaned the club money and not 'given' it as you put it. Is because until we are floated on stock market again, we cannot do a share issue.
