Ello rangers fans a life long admirer of the famous blue white and red of glasgow im typing from down under where the kangaroos run freely! lol. Me first rumour for you is in the sydney times robbie fowler has been linked with rangers and they plan to take him for 50k when kenny miller says his farewells.my next rumour is rangers will announce a short term link with man utd to get players on loan for free like a feeder club however man utd won't have first choice on OUR players! And finally my work colleague is cousins with "Al Murray" and he wants to go to a rangers game before his next gig at glasgow so he can talk about his love for a real british team.

Just a little? ? on the tax issue at ibrox . from what i have heard that it was murrays international holdings that was paying the players wages ( non repayable loans)which really accounted for there wages .
now if that was murrays company paying the players wages . . . how can hmrc send rangers the bill if it is 2 seperate businesses. ?

TEL AVIV | Wed Mar 24, 2010 8:25pm IST

UEFA relaxed its rules on players appearing for two teams in one season in the Champions and Europa Leagues on Wednesday.

The executive committee agreed that a player who appears for a club in any of the preliminary rounds of the Champions League or Europa League can play for another team in the competition proper as long as his original team is eliminated in the preliminary competition.

"The rules have been relaxed regarding what the English call "cup-tied" players, that is players who have already played for one team in a competition in a season, UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino told Reuters.

"From next season, if a player's club is eliminated and he signs for a new club by the end of the summer transfer window on September 1 he can play for his new club in either competition.

"If he is not signed by the end of the summer window, he can move in the January window."

The one stipulation that remains is that clubs can add up to three new players in January, only one of whom will be eligible if they have previously played in the qualifying rounds.

I found this with Regards Jelavic playing for us in the Europa cup. I don't know if it applies for a team that drops from Champs league to the Europa.

Any ideas Ed? {ed's note - I don't know either, I have been reading the UEFA rulebook trying to figure it out, but it is not entirely clear.}

Is it not the case that Jelavic will now be able to play in the Europa league as it is past the group stages?

Although I do agree we won't and shouldnt buy any SPL striker or any striker from Plymouth Argyle.

Ed any insight ?

Steven {ed's note - I don't think it matters where a player comes from, his ability should be all that matters.}

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Sorry Ed I meant with regards Jelavic being able to play in Europa now the group stages are over. Feel free to just add this to the last post rather than adding a new one.
Cheers {ed's note - you can register one player who played in Europe for someone else.}

For what it is worth, I don't think Kenny Miller is irreplaceable. In fact, I would argue that I think Miller is a fairly average footballer and that has been shown on numerous occasions when Rangers have been involved in Champions League football. Miller was an excellent foil to Kris Boyd and I must admit, I preferred the Miller of last season with pace, energy and the ability to drop off the frontman. He hasn't contributed any of that this season and has become a more old-fashioned striker which, for me, has resulted in a number of lethargic performances in the SPL this season as we have lacked that pace in attack.

I would be more than happy to continue the season with Nikica Jelavic and Kyle Lafferty as both offer completely different attributes and would certainly pose a handful for all defences in the SPL. However, my concern is that we would not be able to rely on two strikers for the whole season. As a fan of John Fleck, I think the current apathy around Murray Park has certainly been a major factor in this lad's stalled development and I certainly do not see James Beattie turning on the form – is he really any more use than Andrius Velicka?

19 Jan 2011 21:07:03

Ed can jelavic play in the europa league for rangers since they have passed the group stages {ed's note - the rule is very confusing, teams can register one player who has played in the other European competition for the other one in this window. But then there is the little addendum that blocks Europa League teams for registering a player cup-tied for the Champions League if the team they moved from drops in the Europa League. It is sheer nonsense and needs to be changed to make it clearer.}

Ed do you think we will get another striker in? Maybe goodwillie ? {ed's note - I doubt it will be him, but I have no doubt a striker will be bought as you are definitely looking for one. Unfortunately it is difficult to find one with the required quality with little money to spend.}

"Can anyone tell me what the story is behind Ebi Smolarek? goodwillie will not be joining because of the rape charge. BWP will possibly sign as he did not fail a medical reading pulled out of the deal but Dont worry fellow rangers fans Walter will look into every ally to bring in new players if possible"

Don't think Ally will enjoy that

We're not signing anybody because we don't have the money. End of. Smith is not seeing any of the miller money. But to be honest I'm more concerned about the fact that cektic can put together an exciting strikeforce of hooper and stokes for £3m but jelavic cost us £4m

Wat r u on? Jelavic has been injured for 3 months so how can u compare! Nothing like giving the guy a chance eh! Jeez

TIMPOSTER Alert, here big yin away and wipe the dribble aff yer chin on your Celtic bed set.

We will get a player in to replace Miller.

I find it incredible that there are some Celtic fans so obssessed with The Rangers that they will trawl our sites looking to try and get us worried.

The fact is we can buy players if Miller leaves, Celtic fans have been saying it for ages "aw yeez are skint" but we keep winning titles.

Rangers banter

Just banter, for what its worth(not a lot) I reckon if is going let him go now for as much as we can get! I would prefer he signed a new contract but he won't.

I am not a fan of Riordan or Goodwillie off the pitch but I think both would do a job for us on it.

When Riordan went to the dark side he didn't get much opportunity out on the left attacking side as they had McGeady and others. We have Lafferty! I would rather see Riordan out there.

Goodwillie is a goalscorer and has more ability in other areas than Boyd and we all know what he did for us! I would however not take him if the allegations turn out to be founded!

As for Bradley Wright Phillips he is nippy and I reckon worth a punt for £300,000.

I don't think all 3 will come but I'd happily take any 2 and let Miller go.

Bluegenius!

how u paying for all these players pal?

19 Jan 2011 14:44:38

An exciting strike-force of Hooper and Stokes? You must be joking, Hooper granted seems to score alot but Stokes is awful, how many non-penalty goals has he scored. Not to mention Celtic's awful defence. Cha and Izaguire can't defend just attack. Majstorovic is awful, Rogne seems ok and Loovens isn't worth mentioning.

stokes is a proven goalscorer don't u remember he scored 21 last season 2 behind kris boyd? hooper has been injured for 2 spells this season or he would have scored more than miller! and another point celtics defence is the best in the spl check ur stats pal

Your obviously a supporter of the unclean mob from the East . .
Point 1 . . No bear would call any Celtic player exciting
Point 2 . . Jelavic is twice the player of Hoops & Stokes combined, so your obviously thick
Point 3 . .You can't even spell your own clubs name . Celtic, not Cektic . . again THICK
Point 4 . . I can smell you from here
Point 5 . . 3-in-a-row here we go

"Not being sectarian but what is the chances of rangers wanting to or going to sign southern irishmen or catholic origin ie adam rooney and connor sammon, think before you post! same with celtic they would not sign any protestant northern irishmen would they ?"

Rangers already have a republican at the club.

Rangers youngster Alan Smith, born in Cork, has been called up to the Republic of Ireland under-18 squad for a friendly tournament in the Czech Republic.

And also celtic have many northern irishmen at their club aswell. . Was it really hard to work out?

Talking about which club signs which religeous denominations is nonsense now and you know my friend both clubs sign players of all creeds and the days of one up manship should be over!never mind though back to jock stein. he was not rc and he carried people off the terracings during the disaster here and never once said anything detrimental about his actions to any club or religeous organisations that Im aware of -which would right away suggest to me that he was a better person than you. judging by your own criteria and comments. .who would agree or disagree with that? ed.

The chances of Rangers signing an Irish Catholic are zero, because the so called people wouldn't want it. But you have already answered that in your question.

Famous Celtic Captain Bertie Peacock and goalkeeper Allen McKnight were both Northern Irish Protestants.

Paints a picture, doesn't it.

Any Celtic fan saying that has a cheek, they hated Gordon Strachan while he was winning the league three times in a row because he was not as many said 'Celtic minded'. I wonder why they really didn't like him.

I was having a look at this wright philips person and he is carrying a knee injury and is not in my opinion skilled or fit enough for rangers.it would be a better option financially to have james beattie and velicka put under the care of a sports psychologist and given till the end of the season to improve drastically or Id cut my losses and send them to the jobcentre reasoning simply is we know both can score goals and might turn around their attitudes both are signed at moment
nothing to lose really beattie is too old I feel in fact he should, nt be here but he is and maybe foster will come over if a deal can be done he at least can offer something but the posts are full of nonsense at the moment, millers gone get over it.
