where does david murray come into it with the tax case after all it was his club at the time and all the directors that were their too who were negotiating players contracts bain etc . david murray said he would only sell the club to someone who could take the club forward, lets hope he kept his word on that.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Let's be brutally honest, dm should be slated for the state that he has left us in. He could not care less who bought rangers as long as got rid before the case. Because if it was still his the whole of his empire would have gone, although that may happen anyway. He is a disgrace and whilst he was the custodian, as he put it, he has put us on the brink of disaster, and yet mr w gets dogs abuse. It is directed at the wrong person. Dm you should be ashamed

DM will feature in this case. Not in the way you think though. If anyone with any business acumen on this (or any other site) took time to study this affair, they would see that DM is playing CW like a fiddle. He will never be the figure head again but he will run Rangers again, and sooner than you think...

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but Whyte knew what he was getting when he took over, I'm a Celtic fan and we have had alot of hard times but Whyte wanted Rangers for a reason and I'm sure over the coming months we will all find out why.

If Rangers do go into Administration there will be alot of cuts but I don't think first team players will go, They still need a team to operate as a business and generate revenue.

Without Rangers or Celtic there is no Scottish football as far as I'm concerned.

Let's get this absolutely clear, we do not owe hmrc £50M, we only owe them £2.8m. The additional £1.4m penalty is under appeal.
The so called big case, we owe nothing until the courts say so. There have been two cases brought by hmrc for the same thing, and both were unsuccessful. There is nothing to suggest that they will win this one either.
If they win the case we will go into administration and hmrc will not get paid anyway. Then we start with a clean sheet, Murray park will be sold and so it should be it was nothing more than an ego trip for the last owner, a complete waste of money and a big expense.
I would remind you that we won the ecwc training in a car park.
Whatever happens we will be here and we will still be the ones to chase

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Lets get this clear... The 1.4m fine was never appealed deluded fool!!

Agree0 Disagree0

When they won the cwc they trained at the albion training ground, over the road from ibrox

Agree0 Disagree0

Which is now a car park

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely based on that logic, if they sell Murray park to Asda you could claim the team used to train in a supermarket.

Mark67

Agree2 Disagree1

Rangers don't own Murray park it's leased from David murray

Agree0 Disagree1

What are you on about? HMRC will be paid, if Rangers lose the case, the terms of the repayments will be administered by the courts, during which time assets will be sold and the clubs credit rating will be non existent. Your club is in the shtoom!....Miko

Agree0 Disagree0

If the club goes into adminestration then HMRC wont be payed but only by having to pay them would make Rangers maybe go into admin. As things stand Rangers are the only debt free club in Scotland

Right I know this might sound a bit mental

Martin Bain, Donald macintyre have both had money have had money frozen by the courts. Now these are both men who resided our club through the mess we now find ourselves in, they were the people making the important decisions that went tits up. Could it be that these men who were getting paid vast amounts of Money to do their job and have arsed it up and claim to have rangers best interests at heart are fullyaware of what could happen with the tax case " Now here comes the mental bit " it could be possible that they know we will win the case against us and then the club will be in a richer state of affairs and are just trying to bleed as much as they can out of white. If we were to win the case whyte could do a couple of things he could then invest more money into the club and follow through on the promises to broaden the clubs reputation world wide. As I said this all sounds a bit mental but everything we read in the papers all just fabricated stories made from thin air most of the time, I am on the fence at the moment with what is going on at the club at the moment I want to bac White but want to see what happens when the case is decided then what happens either, but no matter what happens RANGERS will NEVER fade away into the abyss.

We Welcome The Chase

Believable4 Unbelievable1

We should sue Martin Bain for being a money grabbing little s**t. When we were up to our necks this little person took £200k pay rise. He has always had rangers in his heart, dirty lying money grabbing little piece of crap

The Queen of England was being driven close to a beach in Western Scotland and - just outside the surf - noticed a hapless man wearing a Celtic jersey, struggling frantically to free himself from the jaws of a 20 foot shark!

At that moment a speedboat containing three men wearing Rangers tops sped into view one of the men took aim at the shark and fired a harpoon into its ribs, immobilizing it instantly.

The other two reached out and pulled the Celtic fan from the water and using long clubs beat the shark to death. They bundled the bleeding, semi-conscious man into the speedboat along with the dead shark and prepared for a hasty retreat, when they heard frantic calling from the shore... It was the Queen calling them to the beach.

On reaching land, the Queen went into raptures about the rescue and said, 'I'll give you a knighthood for your brave actions. I heard that the people of Scotland were bigoted and trying to divide the country in two but now I see this is a truly enlightened example of tribal harmony which could serve as a model for other nations.'

She knighted them and drove off. As she departed, the harpooner asked the others, 'who was that?''

That,’ one answered, 'was the Queen. She rules Britain and knows everything about our country.'

'Well,' the harpooner replied, 'she knows F*** all about shark fishing.

How's the bait holding up? Or do we need to get another one?

A Celt, a Ger, a hot blonde and a fat woman get on the tube. They go into a tunnel and the lights go out, and suddenly they all hear a loud slap. When the lights come on, the person has a big red handprint on his face.
The blonde thinks: "Oh, the Shameful One must have made a move for me, but fondled that fat woman by mistake and she slapped him."
The fat woman thinks: "Hmm, that Bluenose tried to put the moves on that blonde and got slapped. Good for her."
The Ger thinks: "Hey, that Tim must have gone for the blonde and she slapped me by mistake!"
The Tim thinks: "Boy, I hope we go through another tunnel, so I can smack that donk again".........lol.....Miko

Lot of rumours and banter about financial turmoil at Rangers and also the shamful exit of John Grieg, the BBC stuff and Craig Whyte etc etc. Just want to say a nice gesture by Rangers and their fans with the banners regarding the Hillsborough disaster. As a Celtic fan, with Liverpool as my English team since childhood, and with the strong links between Celtic and Liverpool, it goes to show what I have said all along. The majority of fans on both sides of the Old firm are as good as you will find anywhere. I still well remember the amount of Rangers fans who came straight to Celtic Park from Manchester after UEFA cup final after hearing of the passing of Tommy Burns and of Rangers fans showing banners in support of Morten Wieghorst and Alan Stubbs when they fell ill. So. Well done to those concerned and to those who share the sentiments shown last night.

Personally, I feel it is a disgrace that John Greig, Mr Rangers, was effectively forced out of the door. I also cannot fathom why some fans are still clutching to the idea that Rangers are not in turmoil. This latest shambles - Greig resigning, more money being ring-fenced, should be unequivocal indicators that dark days are setting over Ibrox. Greig resigning is a travesty, he was an ambassador of the club and epitomizes what it means to support Rangers. Clubs such as Manchester United, utilise the likes of Bobby Charlton for the respect he earned and having him within the club instills a sense of tradition and belief. John Greig played that role for Rangers. He rightly earned the respect of his peers, within Scotland. Britain and abroad. The late Tommy Burns played that role to perfection for Celtic, although also having a more active role in terms of coaching, he would be the first to speak to potential signing targets and youngsters. I'm sure Celtic are sorely missing his early departure, so is the rest of Scotland. Having legends around the club promotes pride and belief. Rangers will be worse off without the likes of John Greig.

The resignation of Greig indicates that troubles are ahead. He would never leave Rangers unless he had no other option. Before now, I have usually given Whyte the benefit of doubt. I have always remained skeptical however, as with any uncertain or ambiguous situation, we should always look for reason, logic and evidence to support ones answer. In terms of the tax case, I, like everyone else only knows what we have read and however we choose to speculate about it. Even as a loyal supporter of the club, if we are found to of acted illegally in terms of tax payments then we deserve all the punishment we get. It is the only ethical response. We will just have to wait and see, we do not necessarily know what evidence HMRC has against us, or even why they chose Rangers as their first major tribunal over this type of tax avoidance. I do think the case will go on for another year however, due to the lengthy and inevitable appeals process. Whoever is seen to 'lose' will almost certainly appeal.

At least we doing alright on the field. Though, to be honest, if we were doing poorly it would likely lead to more demonstrations and protests, with fans asking questions about the future of the club. Our on-field success is only masking our true state.

Graeme

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Graeme well said mate. I'm honestly quite stunned at some fans coming on here having a go at Greig. The mans a legend and deserves the utmost respect. Obviously the few that are giving him pelters know nothing about our history as they are either too young or just plain ignorant. Big Greigy you will be missed by all proper Rangers supporters, a warrior on the pitch and a complete gent off of it.

Right guys let's all be realistic for a minute here. We're probs going to enter administration eventually. Does anyone know the likely, realistic outcome if we were to go into administration?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

The realistic outcome if we go into administration is Whyte as immediate creditor keeps the players, sells Murray Park and will offer HMRC less than half of what they want and then we exit administration.

GovanFR {Ed014's Note - I am no expert but HMRC will look for the full value, it is a legal binding and legally enforceable debt, administration wouldn't bring it down any further.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed014 HMRC cannot get the full amount if Rangers cannot afford it. Administrators asset strip the club, the only asset Rangers have is Murray Park so once that is gone HMRC will have two options take a settlement for arguments sake say 30p in the pound or liquidate Rangers but if they did this they would probably only get 20p in the pound. There is virtually no way of them getting all of their money.

i cant wait for the tax issue surrounding Rangers to be completed, just to stuff the words of the critics of my great club ,down their throats. All these so called experts having the gall to spew garbage as if they know it all.Good luck to Mr Whyte,he put his money up,and was brave enough to take it all on.I hope he wins the tax case, you dont accrue his kind of wealth being a bad business man.Forever Rangers, watp.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

What wealth? Where is the evidence of the wealth? What money has he put in?
Rangers' debt has not been cleared it has been switched so that Rangers now owe the money to Wavetower, which is owned by Craig Whyte's company Liberty Capital, which is registered in the British Virgin Islands.
Craig Whyte has not even payed the 'small' tax bill that he said he would pay as part of his agreement to buy Rangers for £1.00.
Why, if the money is there, did HMRC have to force it out of him in court?
Is that really the way forward if he wants to negotiate with HMRC over payment of the bigger bill.
Why did he sell off the catering deal at Ibrox?
Why did he structure the takeover so that if it goes belly up he gets all his money back, including add ons for management fees, loans etc. charged to Rangers, while others, including HMRC, can sell off what's left to get their money back.
You can also forget the notion that HMRC will settle for nothing. If necessary, they will sell off every last stick of furniture to get some payment.
Please also remember that in this scenario, season ticket holders will also not get their money back and if a 'new' Rangers is formed they will have to pay again to watch them.
Why did John Grieg feel he had to leave and, remember, he was not forced out as some sort of master plan.
I agree that some people can go over the top, but it is equally over the top to hide heads in the sand and just keep repeating 'We are the people and in Whyte we trust'.
Like it or not there is at least the possibility that Rangers fans are being led up the garden path by Craig Whyte.
He is a venture capitalist. Venture capitalists buy companies on the cheap with promises of saving them and then strip out everything of value, make a profit and leave behind an empty out-of-business shell.
It has been asked before, what companies has Craig Whyte actually turned around and saved?
Why has this never been answered?
Why has nobody, apart from Craig Whyte, ever come forward to tell us what a brilliant job he has done in the past?
It really is time that fans took this seriously and started asking serious questions.
However, I suspect that this will get the usual intelligent responses of 'Timposter or Timmy/HMRC/Courts/BBC/Mhedia conspiracy.'
Exactly the response Craig Whyte hopes for because it stops people asking questions and demanding answers.

Agree1 Disagree0

Oh, and before anyone asks, 'What about Motherwell and Dundee?' the difference was that Motherwell were able to enter into a pre-pack administration agreement whereby creditors agree to accept pennies in the pound for debts. This is only possible where the holders of, at least, 75% of the debt left after the secured creditor ( in this case Craig Whyte) has been paid back agree to accept it. In Motherwell's case the amount owed to HMRC did not amount to 25% of the remaining debt so they could not block this move. In Rangers case the amount owed to HMRC is definitely above this 25% threshold so they will be able to do this.
The next oft-repeated statement that Rangers have not yet been issued a tax bill is also untrue.
At the FTT, Rangers are appealing against a bill they have already been issued. There appeal is based on their argument that they don't owe this but a bill has been issued.
Lastly, it is quite right that if the appeal is unsuccessful, Rangers can appeal again but, at the same time, HMRC can demand payment of the full amount, or at the very least arrestment of it, until that appeal haas been heard.

Agree1 Disagree0

Probably wealthier than you.....ya fud knuckle.

pappy

Agree1 Disagree1

'Probably wealthier than you....ya fud knuckle' is exactly the sort of response that is going to ensure Rangers emerge undamaged from all these problems ... isn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't matter what I say in this forum, won't make the blindest bit of difference. Similar to your bs dooms day, bore me to death, comments. I like to talk about football, formations, who's playing well etc. With a bit of banter thrown in. As I said before, you are just a fud knuckle.

pappy

Agree1 Disagree0

Very good, but there are others who are trying to get real answers from Craig Whyte and trying to find ways out of this financial mess so that you can avoid having to exercise your brain power in discussing formations, tactics etc. in only discussing teams other than Rangers if the very real possibility, acknowledged by the courts, former directors and others, of Rangers becoming insolvent comes to pass.
If you don't believe that fans working together can change things and force management into being more transparent about what is going on or you don't believe that events off the pitch can and will ultimately decide whether you even have a team to discuss then I truly feel sorry for you.
If insulting me and anyone else who dares to try and have some intelligent converstaion about the future for Rangers gives you comfort or makes you feel in some way clever please carry on.
If the very real threat facing Rangers 'bores you to death' and the only comment you can make is 'fud bucket' then, if the worst happens, you can count yourself among the people who will have helped it happen by their refusal to even try to raise the very real concerns facing the club you claim to support.

Agree0 Disagree0

I apologise for misquoting you, what you said was 'fud knuckle' not 'fud bucket'.
'Fud bucket' is obviously just meaningless drivel unlike the genius displayed by 'fud knuckle'.

So Mr Whyte buys RFC for a quid right.

He is told that the club has an outstanding debt to Lloyds in the region of 20 million and told to expect an investigation from HRMC which could cost the club 30 million. Worst case scenario is he inherits RFC for approx 50 million once the fines in relation to the tax issue is paid and the debt is cleared. Best case, He wins the tax case and gets the club for the cost of clearing Sir David Murrays debt to Lloyds, approx 20 million. Does this make sence to anyone else?

Surely a self made millionaire businessman like Mr Whyte would not take control of a non profitable business. Buying a football club for 50 million is good business imo, especially a club the size of ours. Getting it for 20 million is a steal !!

J1985

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Haha, na ya donk, once they lose the tax case Whyte will present a petition for sequestration.

Administrators will award Wavetower £18m, as the primary creditor, and these adimnistrators, in conjunction with Whyte, will run the club by order of the court. The court will make an order for regular repayments to be made over a period of time in settlement of the debts - this scheme will be administered by the court!

During this period, the club will lose assets and be unable to replace them with the same quality as solvency is paramount. Whyte will get his money regardless!

Worrying times, bring on Thursday night, 7pm, BBC1.........Miko xx

Agree1 Disagree4

First of all it's not £30m to the taxman it is £50m plus penalties and interest which will take the total to nearer £60m then the £20m to tsb = £80m and don't forget ibrox needs another £15m spent on it to bring it up to scratch . you have more frozen money than iceland and no european income .tim nice but dim has banned the bbc and will be taken to court for that as well , if as expected all this goes against you the january sales will lose you EVERYBODY on more than £7000 a week , ''mr whytes words not mine'' basically you lot are f*****

See the thing is, people like white buy places that are on there bum, sort it out sell it on money made, but it's not always the case. Sometimes they buy it it goes boo boo & nothing else is heard from them.

Problem is rangers is in the public eye unlike some of whites smaller firms he's took over. Now if he takes over a local building firm makes it money job done everyone's happy, if he buys it it goes boo boo it's hardly goin to make the paper is it ? That's the case with rangers he's the main money man at Ibrox, so he's in the spot light. If he pulls them out a hole he will be the next best thing since sliced bread, (if he does that other teams will want him to do the same.) if it goes boo boo he's proberly world wide news that rangers are in the poo poo,but that's the chance that these business men take. If all pays off he's great, mess it up aw well I'm still a millionaire who can just chill for the rest of my days. EVERYONE knows there's no money to be made in the spl (win the spl 1.5 mil win the EPL or championship 90 mil) so how can he make money at rangers ? Play in europe ? Falls at the 1st fence. Sell big players ? Aye ok but u did say u would pump 5 million a year into the transfer kitty plus the wage bill needs slashed by 10 million. that's just the tip of it never mind the tax case or the old board saying he's not got the money to find the club ? Or the rumour is he's not got the money to fund the club till jan or even the end of this month ?

Now do you wonder why he wanted the BBC to not air this thing on Thursday night ? Believe what uses want but when the facts are black & white it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Take lawwell- he's got our debt under a million over the last 3 years with hardly any Europe man/ league money that's why teams down south want him if white pulls it off at rangers do u not thing he will be on the same boat as lawwell

Lenny {Ed001's Note - 90m for winning the Championship or EPL? Where the hell did you get that nonsense from? 90m is the amount they claim the winners of the play offs in the Championship gets, but it is false. That is the total of TV money and prize money for one season, plus the total amount of parachute payments the club gets over the next few years. No competition gives out 90m in prize money for its winners, not even the Champions League.}

Down to business bears, hearts is always a tough game away and this will be no different.

For me the team picks itself and taking last night into consideration I feel mccoist will go with:

Mcgregor
Whitts Goian Bocanegra Papac

Naisy Edu Davis McKay

Jelly Lafferty

Subs:
Bedoya, Ortiz, Wallace, Wylde
Perry & McMillan

For me Sasa is a better left back. Healy is a waste of space on the bench when you can move naisy up top and we have to have 3 u21 so I feel they are the best we have. I was impressed with Bedoya last night in the middle, very effective in there.

Bedoya in for Edu, also liked McMillan last night, would like him to get a run. Surprised Wallace missing as well though

Make up your mind is the sub goalie Alexander or Given?

If Alexander is a given, it is the 21st century after all, live and let live.

Just an observation. Watching the game last night and the couple of times the cameras panned towards Mr Whyte i thought he looked particularly relaxed and enjoying the game so whatever the manky mob supporters say and our very own for that matter i'm sure Mr Whyte knows what he is doing so lets just let him get on with it and we can concentrate on Ally winning the League AGAIN ! leethepee.

Relaxed ?

That's right whites a multi millionaire, 49million tax bill is nothing to him, that's what he makes a day in intrest.

Maybe he's relaxed for now because he cancelled the BBC showing this thing on Thursday night ? Seems white is headin for the brown.

Ps that's the old rangers board ring fenced nearly 2 million of whites money now, David Murray said he would only sell the club on to some one who could take it forward? But it was up for sale for years, only really one bid came in he bites the hand off makes his money then the 'old' board say he's not got the money to fund the club ? There now pumped rumour is there headin for admin by the end of this month then the out come of the tax bill plus the money the board have fenced off?

Even better, when was the last time Murray showed his face for a interview ?

Relaxed ? Lol

Lenny u aint the brightest are ye ?! lol if gers go into admin it will be because of the tax bill ! there is no way we will go into then get hit with th bill ... will just have to wait and see what happens ..........

to the bears fans out there what will be a feeling .....
winning the tax case and seeing the looks on their faces as all hope of the league dwindles .... (again)

or lose the tax case go into admin and STILL win the league...

now i aint asking which outcome you would prefer thats a gimme .. what outcome would give u the most satisfaction .......

Someone actually stated that "Lenny u ain t the brightest are ye?"

Thats like saying Donald Findlay won t be the next pope. Lenny can t help it, leave him alone. Even his make believe friends in his cranium are slagging him off. It is sooooooooooooo unfair.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lenny, is the "further" the same as the FUTURE, or is it a mention of long gone leader of the fatherland?

Who cares that John greig has resigned. Since when being a player entitles you to a job for life. He was a good captain, a reasonable player and a rank rotten manager. He is the past and has gone, bye!

Believable2 Unbelievable4

The man's a Rangers Legend you fud. You obviously never had the privilege of seeing him play.

Agree4 Disagree2

I saw hIm play frequently but I am disappointed he has opted to go into the lifeboat. Should have stayed to help steady the ship, he wasnt on the board for his financial accumen, hardly loyal.

Agree0 Disagree0

The man's Rangers through and through. He's been treated appallingly. Greig will know a lot more about whats going on inside Ibrox than we will and as for jumping ship Whyte has apparently been trying to push him out for ages. It'll all come out in the wash one day but i'd rather see Whyte issue a statement to the fans as to why Greig has gone.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a rangers fan through and through does that mean I should get a job for life, and yes I did see him play and if you are telling me he is the best rangers player then I want a pint of what you are on. He is no Baxter, no laudrup, no gazza. Get real he was a good honest pro with little talent. I would remind everybody that he was present when they were winning nine in a row. He has made a damn good living off rangers, now he has gone, won't be missed
