I'd like to see big Dominic ball as the holding midfielder I'm bored with this eustace will he won't he situation. Even if he does sign how long will it take to get him up to match fitness. I'd give the big man a go in that position and move haliday forward this is certainly not a negative post as I'm over the moon about are start to the season I just think a real cdm is the missing piece.

Who drops out to accomodate this, hooly?

19 Oct 2015 14:41:02
To be honest gkk it would probably be Holt I know it's harsh after he played well on Sat but I think moving forward were going to need a strong holding midfielder.

this post is slightly foolish as Eustace has proven his fitness and will be signing a 1 year deal. Therefore he must be match fit. Warbs knows slightly better to what he wants than you do.

Really how many matches has he played then? So how can he be match fit. So wind your neck in I never once said I know more than mw but I am entitled to give my opinion this is what this website is about.

Am with u hooly dragged on long enough! your idea about ball not to bad but I would prefer him to stay in
Rather than Wilson at the moment.

I think dropping Jason Holt would be a monumental blunder. He reminds me a lot of Ian Durrant. A clever player with an eye for a pass and has terrific workrate. And he chips in with the odd goal. Why would you even think about dropping him, especially after his performance on Saturday?

You've got a point seeker but if eustace does come in to team someone will be dropped. What would u do to get eustace into starting 11.

@ The Seeker you are spot on. Eustace will have to earn his place.

There was no need to rush a deal for Eustace, he has not played in over a year. He is finally getting up to full practice fitness. He is not match fit. That will come in a few weeks Warburton has said. If John Eustace had been fit he would have joined a club down south in the summer. The only reason we got a sniff was because he is coming back from a bad injury. The team seem to be coping just fine without him. When Eustaces fit he Holt, Shield, Law, Zelalem will all be looking for a CM spot.

All will play their part. Personally for a winger I think Andy Halliday has been excellent at putting himself about in defence areas. But I can't see how we can play Eustace and Halliday in the middle without losing creativity. You need guys running in to pockets, Holt does it well. What I want to see is fee more cross balls for Waghorn and Miller. So often we overplay on the final 3rd. Ok we hold on to possession but it allows teams to camp in. We need to get Tav, Wallace, Oduwa hitting the flanks and crossing a few balls rather than always trying the 1-2 give and go. Change it up a little.

Hooly

As a wise man once said - if it ain't broke etc
I wouldn't upset the applecart to bring in a 35 year old imo. Don't think any of the midfielders deserve to be dropped.

Hard to that argue with that seeker as I said in op I'm over the moon with are team. playing the best football since probably the advocaat era. My point is against spl teams we will have to tighten up in midfield.

It may be worth remembering at this point that we only have Zelalem until January! Could be that this was a short deal to give Eustace time.
So basically Zelalem out, Eustace in. When Eustace plays Halliday moves forward a bit. Wouldn't expect Eustace to play every game though!

Hooly78,of course you're perfectly entitled to your opinion but on this one I'm in total agreement with the seeker, there's no way I'd drop jason holt from our first team, holt is a terrific wee player who doesn't get the credit he very much deserves at times with his sometimes unnoticed performances for rangers.

he does the simple stuff superbly well and while I do agree with the seeker again when he says that holt has similarities to the one and only ian durrant I also think wee holty is very similar to wee doddie mcdonald going even further back.

Boys if eustace comes in we drop somebody anyway. sqaud rotation is the key. not 1 of that players other than full backs should be guaranteed a spot. keep them hungry. also out top 3 players are 2 wingers and a striker really with waggy. mackay an oduwa.

surely we can chop and change and play halliday like an attacking midfielder with waggy and other striker either side. oduwa an mackay ain't strikers and waggy plays like a no. 10 so there is a lot of flexibility about it. i think johnny russel would fit into our system.

Fair point Davie. I'm maybe a bit old fashioned and can remember when it was the same 11 every game barring injuries. Nowadays the game is faster and the players will get jaded and lose form from time to time. It's all about the squad- as well as the Rangers of course!
