First and foremost do agree we need to sign a commanding CB with proven track record at highest level who will bring the younger lads on. I hope we don't sign Chamakh as I dnt think he strengthens the team. I believe we need another 2 forwards aswell and I know people don't want lafferty or crouch each to their own on that but I think somebody like that would give another dimension to our game as well and would be great if he had the heart of Big Prso.

Would probably take chamakh before crouch and Lafferty. think with the right service chamakh would score a lot of goals for us he's really good in the air also.

Don't think they would let a player that cost them so much on loan to a lower level of football do think he will do amazing job but can't see it.

No offence but even on Football Manager that wouldn't happen. Why would they loan out their star striker to a SPFL team? As much as I love rumours, I think people need to temper their expectations and trust the hat.

hearing all the rumours about strikers and it's great but hear very little about a centre back I think this is more important than a striker I think we should be taking a look at someone like Liam ridgewell for Portland timbers pacey good in the air dangerous when up for corners don't imagine he would cost all that much.

Bears I don't know who we are going to bring in concerning a CB but IMO it will be a loan along with 2 other attack minded players, so as soon as the EPL teams register their teams and I don't know when that is excactly? I still think Ball will come back and will be used at CB and we still don't know if Warbs has plans for Crooks in that position, but anyways 3 more to come all loans. one more thing Bears I hope that Stewart at Dundee sits tight as I reckon he would be a hit at Ibrox and has a huge future and would fit right in with the way Warbs coaches players.

I feel people are on another planet on here thinking we will romp the league I'd love nothing more. If we continue to defend like we do or don't do being the case better quality strikers and midfielders will badly catch us out. We have to stop trying to walk the ball into the net it kills me to watch 43 passes Waghorn makes a good diagonal and we pass it back to start again. We will destroy some teams this year but will get a few shocks to.

If we don't strengthen our defence we could be very embarrassed. Against Motherwell we could have been three down before we eventually scored. I don't think many of us are getting carried away. We saw the writing on the wall in the Cup Final and we saw it again on Saturday. If we have Kiernan and Wilson as our centre back pairing we will lose a lot of goals, irrespective of who our holding midfield players are.

I keep looking at all these comments and think yeah we could have lost 3 goals against motherwell but we didn't that's just how football is it could be the same for even a team like Barcelona the could be riding their luck then next thing they are 3 up and nobody blinks an eye but with us we always focus on the negatives. I mean take Burnley there is a team that have been together for ages fully working as a unit as they have all been playing in same team with very little additional players added and then we play them with quite a few additional players and we ate trying out new roles and players in positions and yet we are all on here thinking it's brutal to watch and focused on how poor certain players were rather than focusing on how well certain players played after only a FEW games together. I for one think we will have a successful season and we will have a top 3 finish at least which I will be delighted with after watching years of a major rebuild! Onwards and upwards fellow bears!

According to Radio Yorkshire, there has been no word from Leeds about Mariappa, casting doubt over whether the Championship club do want to snap up the defender.

Might still be on the cards then. The article also said he was away on international duty so that may be why it's taking so long. I am of course only speculating.

If we are to challenge Celtic for the league then we need at least one quality defender otherwise we are kidding ourselves.

Midfield and attack should work well for us especially with Rossiter and Barton in there but our defence will be caught out just as it was on Saturday unless it is sorted and fast.

Our major problem remains our defence. Even if we averaged two goals a game with our two centre backs we are not guaranteed to keep the opposition to one goal. Unless we sort out our centre backs we are at risk of conceding at will against fast moving forwards when the take us on the break. I believe that we have the players to score goals but we simply do not have a decent quality centre back on our books!

I never caught the game at the weekend I'm by the sounds of things I think I'm glad.
At the end of the day we all knew we needed another defender, hopefully this just rushes that along.
I still think with that addition and a potential penalty box striker we can win the league with this squad.
I might get shot down for saying this but I think the manager should have made a quality CB his first priority. He has been lured with the likes of Barton, Niko and Rossiter (who are all great signings) into strengthening an area that didn't really need it. Halliday, Holt, Windass and Crooks could have done a job there, maybe with one more brought in and young Murdoch as cover. I'm still glad we got them but most of us on here at the end of last season agreed a quality, proven CB and a 20+ Striker were he priority. To have signed 9 players and to be still waiting for these positions to be filled is a mistake imo. And I never criticise the manager as I think he has been fantastic for us but it is a strange one.

I agree recbob, I still don't understand why especially towards the end of last season we were getting exposed more and more defensively that warbs must have knew a half decent centre back should have been 1st priority, in saying that it is not easy to get these types of players on the cheap, on the other hand maybe he is relying heavily on crooks when he is fit again to fill that void.

I think any great team has to be built from the back and the only area from last seasons team that was under any scrutiny was our centrebacks! the two of them should have been replaced with real quality.

I hate when people confuse the words real quality with age u can get a 21 year old with real quality doesn't have to be all these old guys that some folk keep mentioning.

I'm with you James Stirling, I'd rather someone younger than all the has been a we've been linked with.
I still think Marriapa should be signed, even if we need to break the bank slightly. He's quick and strong, that's what we're lacking.
Good shout about Crooks, I think out of what we've got currently my two CB's would be Wilson and a fit Crooks.

I agree, anyone who knows a bit about football can see we badly need a central defender, but one thing i will say is when Barton, crooks and rossiter play as the midfield 3 it will be better but we definitely need to be better at the back as its the weak link that every other team with a decent striker will expose, the sooner crooks is fit the better.

I'm with Mark Warburton - i'm pretty certain that he hasn't been sitting on his backside thinking all in our defence is rosy!
If the next big thing was out there and available with a decent budget he'd have been signed by now.
I imagine that there are lots of things going on in the background that we punters don't need to know about.
Just because no-one has been signed so far doesn't mean no-one will sign

Why is a 20+ goals striker a priority? . We scored over 100 goals last season and waghorn got about 28 of them. Our defence is shocking that goes without saying. One or two commanding centre backs are required which I'm sure we will try and get. Give waghorn a chance this season before shooting him down.

A striker is not a priority for us, we scored over 100 goals last season with waghorn getting around 28 of them. So in my opinion he should start as cf and give him a chance before you write him off. I do agree with you on the defence though, one of the worst I've seen at ibrox.

Warburton will now who he wants but if the money isn't there then he is hamstrung! My frustration lies with Dave King, he talked a lot about what he would do but so far it is the others that have primarily come up with the funding. If it was the other side of the City then Desmond would come up with the funding to get the player on board. It is really unfortunate that we could lose this league because we are lacking at centre back and the funding isn't forthcoming. When Crooks is fit he should make a significant difference but ideally we want two quality centre backs and right now we don't have any!

I'd go for that. Miller will probably start but we need to actually run in behind defences if we hae the opportunity for the early ball. For me MOH offers height pace and presence and if he's beyond he shouldn't get caught, one goal and a regular run and we'd get a confident player but i trust the manager.

Don't know why we're not making a move for David Wheater, he's out of contract July this year. Wages should not be an issue as he was on £12000 a week at Bolton. No nonsence CB tackles hard but fair and at 29 years old could be with us for a few years.
