Awell time to get behind the old tartan army moan the Scotland.

01 Sep 2017 20:25:35
Playin well first half. Keep it going lads.

01 Sep 2017 21:39:45
Well deserved played well good performance pity Slovakia scored late

01 Sep 2017 22:51:29
Still got a glimmer of a chance to make it.

02 Sep 2017 05:16:57
Can see us finishing 2nd BUT failing to be one of the best runners up! That scenario has US written all over it!

02 Sep 2017 08:11:04
With my Scotland head on I must say brown Armstrong tierney were all superb last night.

02 Sep 2017 17:51:55
One of the best Scottish performances I can recall in years. Wonder what Brown thinking now, his decision to retire and not play in the early fixtures cost us 5 points that may be decisive in us not qualifying.

03 Sep 2017 00:36:30
FD that's some statement mate about Brown, u think he singlehandedly lost us 5 points by not being there?
Wow thanks you must think he is some player, not often a fan of your team gives such high praise.
Now that you realise what you have said are u going into hiding now lol.

03 Sep 2017 07:46:24
Ryman, brown is one of the better players in the scotland team. Is that not what this thread is about? Just saying he let his country down by turning his back and will be a big factor in us not achieving qualification.

03 Sep 2017 11:13:23
Aye Rayman because your supporters were full of good things to say about our players in the past. gees peace.

When Ferguson was at his best and playing for Scotland for example, you'd go a long way to find s Celtic fan that would admit he was a player.

Infact many Celtic fans didn't bother with Scotland until recently. wonder why that is🤔

03 Sep 2017 15:20:06
Fd u never said that u said he cost us 5 points. I not really bothered about international football bear. But i will say ferguson was a good player as was laudrup gascoigne etc. It doesn't bother me saying that but i bet it sticks on some of the peoples throats to say it about Brown.

03 Sep 2017 16:05:21
Ryman, far too much denial in your response i think.

03 Sep 2017 20:45:34
Denial about what mate. Come on be a man u said brown cost us 5 points. At least stand by your statement don't try and get out of it. No player cost 5 points nobody in the scotland squad is that good to make a difference. You only mention it because he a celtic player.

03 Sep 2017 22:06:44
Ryman, with your man brown in the team we would have comfortably beaten Lithuania at Hampden. Also we lost late goals and match in Slovakia, but had majority of possession and with your man on the pitch beliieve we would have won. Nothing to do with fact he is a Celtic. Player he is just a decent player and last season in particular was very good. Very disappointing and selfish on his part to turn his back on his country and then change his mind to play against England. I repeat, when we don't qualify for the World Cup it will he significantly down to your man brown. But then as you say you care very little about scotland and international footballl.

04 Sep 2017 12:08:41
Fd your opinion is invalid because its based on no evidence. At the time brown was strughling with injuries and because of his age thought it was the best thing to do to lengthen his carreer as do a lot of players. He wasnt at his best at the time its nothing to do with turning his back. one thing i can garauntee tho if brown played for dundee utd or southampton you would never mention it so it has EVERYTHING to do with celtic.

04 Sep 2017 15:17:29
rayman, that's correct he was starring and playing in the champions league at the time, check the dates. He made his choice and then changed his mind to play against England at Wembley when it suited him.

04 Sep 2017 17:27:55
Now he starring in the CL. Your going to be popular on here lol.

04 Sep 2017 18:22:50
Still its good to know your such a fan of Brown and you hold him in such high esteem.

04 Sep 2017 18:36:20
rymen, take it you have checked the dates and are in agreement.

05 Sep 2017 11:25:27
The dates are irrelevant mate, even if Brown was at his best on those dates there is no garauntee he would make any difference.
Even if we had messi mate and he did the same it makes no difference, as no one player can make that much of a difference its a team game.
Indeed by your own argument I could say someone else could a played in the games he played in and done better on the day and won the games we didn't, its a moot point totally.
As I said mate we wudnt be having this conversation if he wasn't a celtic player.

01 Sep 2017 13:24:31
I just want to give a congrats to the board and manageement team for not giving in to hearts demands. personally i feel that this could be a win win for our club. first it will let us see if walker if he is a one season wonder or if he scores another 15 goals plus. If he scores another 15 plus i recon he will be pushing for a scotland call up. This would mean we would be getting and international player for nothing and if he doesn't reproduce his form then we walk away. so win win.

point 2

On a side note i'm getting a bit peed off with the anti rangers feeling that is cleary there from other clubs when we try to sign one of their players. it appears that clubs would rather lose hundreds of thousands of pounds b4 selling 2 us but when the sheep or hibs or the unclean come in they are only to happy to sell their players for a reduced or correct valuation of their worth.

point 3

another thing that's i'm not happy about is the money that we have recieved for some of the players that we have recently sold. I feel that the board where so desperate to get these guys off of the wage bill, that they have done the club a dis serves and cost our club a lot of money. i'm sure if we played the same hard ball as clubs are doing to us we would have got a lot more cash for the likes of mckay and Gardner waggy at least 2.5 million for the three of them.

01 Sep 2017 14:33:00
If Walker is a potential international then why not pay the million for him right now rather than hoping to get him on a free in the future?

If he impresses at Hearts maybe some Championship club will come calling offering far higher wages.

Does anybody think that we will challenge Celtic with players that aren't even worth a million nowadays?

01 Sep 2017 16:13:24
To be fair Naz he say IF he has ANOTHER good season then he will be a shout for international.
We should not be paying a million for him with a season to go in my opinion either. He can come for free and if he chooses championship then so be it, he will fade into obscurity, wealthy obscurity, like many others.

01 Sep 2017 18:13:00
Fair points Bluegenuis. I just think for the sake of a couple of hundred grand we should have upped the offer and got him now.

01 Sep 2017 23:08:02
Naz being valued at £1 million doesn't mean you must be good! There's plenty from Celtics team from last season were not bought for £1 million
Being a squad capable of winning games and championships doesn't revolve around transfers fees.
In my opinion we should have more youth players involved, again some of the young guys Celtic brought through were part of that squad last year.

01 Sep 2017 11:08:08
Right, loads of folk moaning about our transfer business over the last couple of days.

We brought 11 players in with 3 being loans and lost 13 I think with 2 or 3 being loans.

Personality I think we needed another centre half but we have 4 so we can get away with that.

Man for man we are better than we were last season, we just need to gel and quick.

In January sign up walker and McLean on pre contracts (maybe a small fee will get them in January)

See how the 11 new guys look and make a decision on what areas we still need to strengthen and look into more pre contracts of players who will improve our squad.

All of this plus make 2 signings of players round about £2.5m. This has to be a long term project (2 seasons) .

If we go into next season with the squad we currently have plus walker and McLean (free transfers) . one more good free transfer and 2 players round about the £2.5m Mark we will have improved massively again.

I'd expect us to have a team capable of putting up a decent challenge for the 2018/ 19 season and a team capable of winning the league the season after. I know a lot of bears won't accept that but look where we were even last season in comparison to Celtic getting champions league and £60m over two seasons.

01 Sep 2017 13:17:03
Far too sensible a post mate, it'll never catch on. ;-)

01 Sep 2017 13:26:38
Why the hysteria over two bang average players? I agree we need to keep adding one or two in every transfer window, but they have to be better than we have or be able to take us to a higher level. Ordinary SPhelL players won't do that.

01 Sep 2017 13:29:57
Very good and sensible post Stuart, I couldn't agree more. As supporters we must realise where our club is financially and that we must cut out cloth accordingly. We don't have the resources to compete directly with Celtic, but with sensible management from the board, the DoF and Pedro over the next few windows, then I'm sure we will be back competing for the league title before long.

01 Sep 2017 13:43:20
F that, just bow down to the anti rangers brigade no chance. We demand results on and off the park. Most on here are becoming used to the idea we are sheite. Either get us investment or sell to someone who has some financial clout behind them and there money isn't being kept by a government body due to fraud.

01 Sep 2017 13:43:41
Or stick the euro millions on dave.

01 Sep 2017 13:45:46
Big Sam. Not only do we need players capable of taking us to the next level but we also need guys who know the league well and know they need to dig in to get results. If we sign walker for free in my opinion we will be signing the best winger in the league out with Celtic and if we sign McLean we will be signing the best midfielder out with with rangers and Celtic. In order to have a squad capable of competing at domestic level and getting into Europe (properly) we need this type of player and the fact they will be free and are rangers fans makes it better.

I'm 31 and have been a season ticket holder for 16/ 17 years so I've been going through the glory days and the real dark days but I just don't understand what some of our fans want? In the past we've signed the best players from aberdeen and hearts and hibs etc so why is it now these players aren't good enough?

01 Sep 2017 15:09:08
Am interested to know from fodtheprod who this mystical billionaire investor is?

01 Sep 2017 15:27:33
Listen guys, let the new DOF settle in and start our scouting system and use his connections. I would hope by January 2018, we have forgotten about Walker and McLean and have sourced great young talent that we will sell in a few years for a lot of money. Our challenge of smeltic with either of those guys wouldn't have made a difference. They are average players in a below average league.

01 Sep 2017 17:43:21
StuartAC I think we both want the same things for our club and our team. But I don't think it will happen by signing this calibre of player. Of course we signed players from other Scottish clubs in the past - the ones that were good enough. I had 30 years experience as a scout and I just don't see where these players would take us. Walker is no Neil McCann, for instance, and McLean is maybe the eighth or ninth best midfielder in the SPL, a poor league at best. I don't understand why some fans think they would bring improvement just because they're Scottish and have played in this league for a few seasons. Actually it begs the question why are they still playing in this league when others of genuine ability (Robertson for instance) have moved on. It wasn't all that long ago we were fielding teams with no Scots, 11 players who didn't 'know' the league and who came from all over the place. Native 'knowledge' will never be a substitute for talent. If I'd still been scouting (long time retired! ) the only players that would have interested me in the past couple of years from a Rangers first team point of view would have been Robertson and Armstrong. The rest had too many 'maybes' about them. All the best.

01 Sep 2017 19:21:05
StuartAC

Are you not a bit concerned about the strikers? Miller and Herrera have never been prolific scorers, Hardie is untried at this level, Morelos has done well and looks a find however if he gets injured we are bang in trouble

01 Sep 2017 20:18:31
StuartAC if you're watching the Scotland match you'll maybe see what I mean.

01 Sep 2017 23:53:27
Big Sam I agree 100% when we were fielding a team of no Scots we had international class players capable of playing at top EPL sides. In the current market how much would Numan, gio, de boer, tugay, amo, Reyna, arteta etc etc cost. Even at the time these guys were playing for decent if not great teams around Europe.

What we really need to do is adopt the Celtic approach to find a van dijk or a wanyama but every £2m spent on that type of unknown player there's another 5 or 6 players at £2m who don't reach the same potential.

Sparky I agree with you also to an extent but let's give Herrera a bit of time. He's got his first goal let's see if he can kick on. I'm sure most teams have the same problem that if their best striker gets injured they won't score as many goals.

Sorry for the long post guys.

01 Sep 2017 23:58:32
Also fod the prod we play in Scotland. No one is ever going to invest millions into scottish football. We need to find "gems" at a couple million at most. When you start looking at £5m players you start paying over £30k a week and we won't be paying that sort of wages until we get champions league football or until scottish football somehow gets major investment which doesn't look like happening any time soon

01 Sep 2017 10:06:00
Dominic Ball on loan to the sheep, great signing, someone that would have strengthened us

01 Sep 2017 10:19:23
aberdeen look like they have a stronger squad than us this year but we still have to gel as a unit
i will be getting behind the team and the manager

01 Sep 2017 11:23:39
Aww well another window closes but the door will be opened for some filthy rich investor to swoop in and save us, either that or we will be raking the transfer bins forever.

01 Sep 2017 12:09:12
Ball was far too slow

01 Sep 2017 12:55:55
Ball played a good match vs celtic but struggled to get a game in our shakey defence. No big loss. Would rather take Bruno and Cordozo over Ball anyday

01 Sep 2017 13:32:22
Is this the same Ball that was average for us in the championship, and since then has hit the football meccas of Rotherham and Peterborough in England's third division, where he couldn't get a game and threw his toys out the pram? Aye.

01 Sep 2017 18:22:50
Aberdeen have a strong squad aye but they are bottle jobs proven time n time again. I think st johnstone will run celtic to the end this year. Well they seem the only team capable of it.

01 Sep 2017 09:26:15
The wonders of Mark Allen were supposed to be truly magical. Though, through all his hard work, we have now been shown how good his business acumen is. His superior list of contacts at every major club in Europe was stated as powerful and very useful to our clubs future. This has surely been overstated. Now, when PC is in Portugal on a course, our DF was in charge of the transfer business. He produced no new signings or use his flawless talents to end the Jamie Walker saga [who we really could use right now]. We did however, manage to bring in before the transfer deadline; two players on loans that are not what I, or many other Rangers fans find satisfactory for our club? What happened to the quality signings I ask the talented Mr Allen?

01 Sep 2017 09:59:35
In: Bruno Alves (Cagliari), Ryan Jack (Aberdeen), Dalcio (loan, Benfica B), Fabio Cordoso (Vitoria Setubal), Daniel Candeias (Benfica), Alfredo Morelos (HJK Helsink), Eduardo Herrera (Pumas), Carlos Pena (Chivas), Graham Dorrans (Norwich), Aaron Nemane (Manchester City, loan), Declan John (Cardiff City, loan)

Out: Clint Hill, Emerson Hyndman (Loan ends), Jon Toral (Loan ends), Philippe Senderos, Andy Halliday (loan, Gabala) Matt Crooks (Northampton Town) Michael O’Halloran (St Johnstone, loan) Joe Garner (Ipswich) , Rob Kiernan (Southend United), Martyn Waghorn ( Ipswich), Harry Forrester (loan, AFC Wimbledon) Joe Dodoo (Charlton Athletic, loan) Billy Gilmour Chelsea.

Are we happy with our ins and outs. And are next transfer Targets going to be Jamie Walker hearts and Kenny Mclean on pre contracts in January. Are we stronger one year on. Me the jury is still out.

01 Sep 2017 10:15:55
Only time will tell if we are stronger etc big test will b 23rd sept to see if we made some progress or get humped again

We get humped again sorry pedro but i think then your time is up but untill then i'm behind our manager

01 Sep 2017 10:16:35
I reckon player for player we have improved, but possibly not by a great deal. Kenny mclean and walker pre contract in jan would be a great start of business. Let's hope some of the new signings come onto a game now and kickstart our season.

01 Sep 2017 10:22:32
mark allen will bring youth players to rangers that are ones to watch for the future its up to us to get them to their potential and bring them into the first team and this will happen and is our only way of being a strong team again as we can't afford to buy the quality players that we need

01 Sep 2017 11:25:49
Our big test was hibs and we blew it. We will beat the sheite pub teams in scotland but anyonw with a bit of backbone we will struggle.

01 Sep 2017 15:00:20
too early to judge the team, we have to let them gel

02 Sep 2017 00:58:30
Hate saying it but the performance of the Referee during the Hibs game was absolutely SHOCKING! Something has to be done to improve standard, and what is going to happen to Beaton? He goes down to Referee in the Championship or Lge 1 for a week or 2. I mean is that it? I think that there should be some sort of fine! These guys get a grand a game and imo if the Ref puts in a performance like that of Beaton then the SFA should Fine them. I really do not know if something like this already exists but it should!

01 Sep 2017 09:16:27
Aberdeen signing Dom Ball on loan, interesting to see how he has progressed

01 Sep 2017 13:33:47
He hasn't.

01 Sep 2017 03:53:10
I know its a fair bit away but do you think Ped will go with a 4-4-2 at Ibrox against Celtic?
Or if we go with something else should we play that system for the games leading up to it.
Personally I think we should play 4-1-4-1 against Celtic. I just feel that we will need to be solid at the back and having Jack offering that added bit of protection will be needed.
A midfield of Windass Dorrans hopefully Pena and Candieas with Morelos up front.

01 Sep 2017 08:44:24
I would play Rossiter in midfield along with Jack and Dorrans. Would be astonished if Pena was thrown in to such a game

01 Sep 2017 09:36:25
Pedro spent 2m plus on Pena so he obviously thinks the guy has quality. I like everyone else have looked forward to seeing him play.
Whether its his fitness or whatever its taken him longer to get into the Team, we have a International break then 3 games before Celtic and I expect Ped to use him and by the time of the Old Firm he should be physically ready so why would our most expensive signing not be involved. I think that having Dorrans and Pena gives us a real attacking threat and both have the technical ability to create.
Can see Jack pushing up when in possession and either Dorrans or Pena supporting Morelos.

01 Sep 2017 00:27:12
Watching Deadline Day and Arsenal ended up keeping Sanchez due to a deal to bring a replacement breaking down. But means that they will probably lose him for nothing OR a hell of a lot less in Jan than the SIXTY MILLION! Man. Ciy bid. There were a few 20/ 30 Million+ Players that Clubs kept with them being in last year of Contract. Its crazy the money Clubs can not only spend but can basically lose/ pass up down South!

01 Sep 2017 05:05:38
English premierships like the hollywood of football out of control lol. I still prefer the battle of the Scottish game :)

01 Sep 2017 00:26:46
Just a thought now that the walker deal appears to have been a non starter what are everyone's thoughts on playing Holt as a left winger he's speedy enough good with both feet just a bit small for the centre of midfield and he's a trier I think it wouldn't hurt to try him there.

01 Sep 2017 07:10:44
We've got to give the new lad Nemane a chance and even tho the Welsh Player Declan I think has been brought in to challenge Wallace he could be used there. We shouldn't rule out Dalcio after a couple of games think we're being a bit ruthless to a guy who's never played the game over here! And I actually do think Pedro will use him from the bench in certain games. I like Windass too, he made some great runs at Fir Park and wasn't afraid to have a crack at goal something which was badly missed against Hearts!

01 Sep 2017 08:41:43
Andy1872

Your lucky if you get 30 mins a game off Windass so if you pinning any hopes on him I think your going to be very disappointed. For all his bit part good play he has still only managed 1 goal against lower league opposition and cannot be relied upon to get many goals

01 Sep 2017 12:16:47
Think we could use Windass as an impact sub with 30 mins left would prefer to see Nemane on the left but told he was only doing the development squad and young john would be OK there as for Dalcio he must have a future in the team as we knocked back a chance to send him back to Portugal as Benfica offered to take him back.

01 Sep 2017 20:15:40
Its just my opinion but I really do think Windass will have an impact this Season!
Regarding our games against the Sheep and Celtic prob Hibs too, I just hope Ped plays the right formation and does not use a 4-4-2. For me we need to pack the Midfield or at least have Jack or Rossiter, sitting in front of the back 4!

02 Sep 2017 03:47:56
Larky how did you know that we knocked back an offer from Benfica? (Not saying we didn't btw)
Im for giving the lad a chance as its too early to judge. But I'm happy to hear that we actually made a decision to hold on to him if the option was on the table to send him back.
We worry about the LW but Dalcio. Nemane. Windass. poss Declan can all play there someone needs to stake a claim and produce.
Even Candieas can play both Wings and young Serg Atayaki might be given his chance and it would basically stem from the collapse of the Walker deal! one Player not getting in, is another Players chance!

31 Aug 2017 23:39:47
Johnny walker is a done deal. £35 out of tesco.

31 Aug 2017 23:14:31
As much as I'd like to sign Walker from Hearts (which doesn't look like it's happening) I'm glad the club won't be held to ransom for a player we could get for peanuts in January or at least a pre contract done in January for next season and get him for nothing. Well done to the board for not backing down and over paying for a player with 1 year left on his current deal. I think the £600k we reportedly offered was a fair price but that's football.

31 Aug 2017 22:40:31
Dodoo swsy on loan to charlton till jan.
