Jota seems to be a wide midfielder rather than a CM. He played a couple of games as an attacking midfielder but looks like a player who likes to cut in from the right hand side.

Jota, yet another player that Warburton has worked with before and has lost his way. He's hardly played during his loan spell in Spain- and he hasn't exactly been on loan at one of Spain's top clubs.
He may well be a decent player, but when will MW show a bit of imagination and ability to grow as a manager?
To catch Celtic, we need to sign higher calibre players on permanent deals. At some point the manager needs to find some, not lost souls from his past.

Got to love the negativity Luigi.
The lad is a much better player than Forrester and O'Halloran so immediately he would increase the quality of the squad. I get your point about looking at different options other than ex Brentford/ Watford players but I think for this lad we make an exception.

{Ed001's Note - there are a few Jotas. The Jota who played for Brentford, and is now at SD Eibar on loan usually plays on the right, but can play left or central. Eibar have mainly used him as a central attacking mid but, in his time under Warburton, he was almost entirely on the right wing.}

With imagination and scouting of lower leagues across Europe (not just England, a market we can't afford, do poor people shop at waitrose? ) there are plenty of bargains to be had.
If we only shop in English market then we can only afford third or even forth rate players.
I'm sure some will disagree, but let's see the logic behind that argument.

Where is the long term plan, where is the team building? Who gave we got on our books that's capable of moving the team forward?
Our whole squad is full of average and decent players. To catch Celtic we need two or three quality players.

Hovering over the positions it tells you how many times he played in each one. In case you can't be bothered, he played RW 31 times LW 9 times AM 2 times and didn't play a single game in CM.

Negative luigi, while I understand your concern about"narrow unambitious recruitment" I have to ask where you think we can realistically get those"two or three quality players"from given quality does not come cheap? Also your points about building a team and taking us forward-I know it hasn't worked out too well so far but surely that's what having young players like Rossi ter, Windass, Dodoo and hopefully Crooks are all about. We've also got a youngster called McKay who looks like he's hitting form again. No we probably won't get that close to Celtic this season but couldn't a couple of well chosen, tried and trusted (ie by MW) signings bring us enough so that a good solid 2nd and a Scottish Cup are strong realistic aims? As for next season that's another matter.

Reminds me of hutton and 450k comp would be a bargain. With him wilson and wallace plus a solid cb i think we would be sorted for years. Only thing is with money tight i'd prioritise an attacking cm.

Djab that's the thing he doesn't get a say in it his contract is up in the summer and is free to speak to clubs in January we will pay 450,000 compensation and he's a Scottish international at 22 years old it's a bargain.

I think Paterson would bring the same problems we have with tav. Gets caught out of position far too often for me. Poor defensively (Tries bicycle kicks in his own 6 yard box under no pressure) . only difference in my opinion is that unlike tav, he scores headers instead of goals from open play with his feet.

I agree with jaws - Patterson has been good at hearts but he would be no better in a rangers shirt than what we have. He has energy but is weak defensively.
We need to concentrate our resources on bringing in quality not numbers.

I read that warburton likens garner to an andy gray type striker. What a compliment for garner from his manager as andy gray was terrific! I do honestly think that joe garner will go on to be a very good and important player for the famous glasgow rangers!

Jimmy Millar was my favourite player when I was a young lad going every week to Ibrox. Great all round player and knew where the goal was. I will never forget when he played as an emergency centre half for one game at the end of his career, in the cup final against you know who! Kai Johansen scored the only goal in a great replay against Celtic when Jock Stein had created that great team. If I remember correctly both sides went on to reach the final of the two European cups the following season. Sadly Rangers lost to Bayern in extra time the week after Celtic won in Lisbon.

guys is it just me. but DW. has got to be one of SLOWEST inadequate CH we have ever had. if we put him up for sale we would get next to nothing. so i don't get what people see in him. all he wants to do is hit diagonal passes all day of which 1 in 10 come of he is a liability and I fear Celtic forwards will expose him once again!

The lad is a terrific talent no one can deny that but to say he is worth 20 to 40 million is a bit optimistic he is playing in the spfl where the standard isn't the greatest if he was doing as well playing bottom to mid table English premiership or top 3 English championship I could see where these figures come from but Imo if he does get sold it would be 10 to 13 million at most just for the fact he plays in scotland as it would be seen as a big risk shelling out the top figures that have been touted for someone his age who has played well for 1 season in the spfl premiership.

TBH the goal at Parkhead was all Miller. Great head to back post which completly caught out De Vries (who is pretty woefull) Reckon the ball was in the net wether Garner was there or not so not really a claim to fame IMO.

Guys Dembele`s worth will not be what he does in the SPL, he could score 30 every seaon for next 5 years and the EPL teams might still not look at him.
It will be what he does in CL that counts, against top quality opposition, and for France 1st team or U21s.
Look at Forster, VVD and Wanyama we would never had got 10-12m for these players for just doing it in SPL.
IMHO right now Celtic wudnt sell for less than 12m, but remember he is only 20 yrs old so he can only improve and if he does and still bangs in goals in CL then who knows what he will be worth when you consider Troy Deeney at Watford was being touted at 30m.
We know players are not worth that but if they daft enough to pay it we will snap their hands off when the time comes.

lh86, there's so much more to garner's play to scoring goals, although i do grant you, strikers are judged on their goals and rightly so. but trust me here my friend, the goals will come for joe garner. he's had to come into a team and adapt to a new system for him which he's now doing, he's getting there! i'll tell you something, joe garner will give your defenders a hellish time imo and they'll certainly know they've been in a game at full time on hogmanay! that i totally guarantee you! joe garner will go on to be a very good player for the most successful football club in the planet, bar none, the famous glasgow rangers! for the record i think we'll beat yous on hogmanay, really do!

Lh86, most of us are realistic and knew we would not come up to the SPL and win it at first attempt, we have came through an awful lot with all the crooks we have
had at our club. If and I think we most definitely will finish second then I personally think that is a good achievement.
We have backed our team through thick and thin with top attendances in the (whole) of Scotland when we were in the lower divisions! I notice your great club still counts seats as supporters as even this season you are not giving accurate crowds looking at the amount of empty seats.
Now we were punished for so called EBTs, tax avoidance, your team have still to be caught out (on going enquiry). The point I am making is, I doubt very much you closet supporters would have backed your team in the same way!
We will be back and then you and your like will sneak back under your Boulder and won't be seen again. Look forward to seeing your crowd tonight 😂.

o clarify last post. TIC had by far more possession but not full story. TIC 28 shots, Well 6, on target TIC 11, WELL 5, that's 60 per cent Well and 25 per cent Tic. Sure Tic midfield created but front was @@@@. Tic ain't great side just making hay until we find our feet.

Hearing a rumour that we could potentially back in the market for Steven Taylor who has quit the MLS.
Potentially Senderos out - Taylor in?
Also, when Rossiter is fit - do we think Halliday will remain in the side or will he drop out?

Rossiter is a better player than Halliday, if he can stay fit. Halliday is not a defensive midfield player and he is not a box to box midfield player so not sure what role he could play if we have some quality in the midwifeld!

I'm sure we could get a better prospect than Taylor. On halliday, just what has the boy done to be continually slaughtered. I agree he hasn't performed to level he is capable of but who has.
Over the last few games he has been superb bar the mistake that led to the goal at hamilton. He is doing all the dirty work in midfield, breaking up play and getting it forward. This is also down to Warburton changing the system too so to drop the boy now when he is starting to come onto a game would be a poor decision.

But and here's the but mate, i actually think by going to all rangers games, i truly think he gets an easy ride from our supporters even after making mistakes, compared to tav, kiernan etc! Its because you'll hear certain bears saying, 'aye but he's a true blue'! I find this wrong to use other gers players as whipping boys and not halliday for mistakes that are being made. If he's not playing well and making mistakes then as far as i'm concerned he gets tarred with the same brush as everyone else! that's the way it should be!

imo I think there are maybe 3 players we need to replace with better quality both cb positions could be massively improved and a left footed L/ Winger.
how long has Weiss got on him contract with that mob he plays with just now. i'd definitely like to see him back with him on one side and McKay on the other they would run a mock with defences.
