Another unconvincing performance against Partick Thistle in the cup with the only highlight being young Ross McCrorrie's impressive debut.

Which gets one thinking?

Why not build a team of youngster from the youth set up i. e. The McCrorrie brothers, Barjonas, Burt, Hardie to name a few.

Squad of 18 players of which 5 are senior players (over 25) max.
Predominately British players (as speaking same language must be a huge advantage)

Manchester United built a team full of youth back in 1992 so it's proven to work.

If they can do it why can't we? We have the best training facility and a good academy.

Ally McCoist had the chance to do it when we were in Division 3 but he didn't. That really annoys me and I doubt we'd be in this position now if he had went ahead with it.

I just don't understand whoever has been the manager in the last 5 or 6 years, why we keep buying sub standard foreigners when we have a well established academy?

20 Sep 2017 22:26:48
Was really impressed with the boy McRorrie does make you wonder how many other young guys would grab their chance if given it.

20 Sep 2017 22:41:53
OK and if they start to lose games like feck wll they be given the backing and support. Get a grip.

20 Sep 2017 23:01:20
I love how the neigh sayers want that I'm sure if someone within the club did it folk would be wanting blood granted mccoist had the chance to do it a bit but he went for over price second rate spl players

20 Sep 2017 23:03:22
they would get booed off the park like anyone else. we don't have supporters we have glory hunters

21 Sep 2017 00:57:30
@b&rsocks - like you say we missed that opportunity when Super Ally was in charge after demotion to Div 3. Unfortunately we have fans who can't go week to week with the odd blip, never mind 3 - 4 years whilst a team of youngsters blend together.
P. S. the Man Utd youngsters were also an extremely talented bunch who nearly all came through at the same time.

21 Sep 2017 00:58:35
You can't win anything with kids.

21 Sep 2017 00:52:02
Pedro has already opened the door to Hardie, McCrorie, Barjonas, Beerman etc all in the space of a few months. It takes time and patience to do this with kids, and to quote the sublime and unique Class of 92 is a bit much as no other club in British (or maybe even world) football has had such phenomenal success with youngsters. Even United have never got near to replicating that. And their team wasn't 'full of youth' there were good senior pros to help them develop as they joined the first team over a three-year period.

21 Sep 2017 01:19:41
We should have done this when we got relegated to a division 3 instead of buying short term crap. We would have been reaping the benefits now. Also, there MUST be a left winger somewhere in the youth academy that can actually play the position. We don't actually have a left winger in our whole squad.

21 Sep 2017 09:28:37
OP:

That ship has sailed.

When the inevitable happened and we ended up in the 4th division, THAT was the time to do that. A team of 17-21 year olds with a few old heads was the way to do it. Instead McCoist paid guys like Daly, Sandaza and Kyle 8 grand a week. A team of youngsters would probably have won that league and then the next one. By the time we were in the Championship they have 80 odd games under their belts and strutting about like peacocks.

Admittedly the right young lads would have had to be available at the time but this didn't appear to have been even considered.

21 Sep 2017 10:33:02
To be fair to Ally, he did play boys like Hutton, Perry, Mckay, Crawford, Little, Murdoch and with the exception of Mckay they were all rotten and they've all went into the wilderness since.

21 Sep 2017 10:38:46
If we don't have a left winger then why did we sell/ give away Mckay?

21 Sep 2017 14:39:52
people seem to forget the likes of aird crawford fleck and quite a few other where given plenty of game time under ally but u can't have a team of just youth players as they wouldn't learn or win often enough.
second rate spl players where good enough to get us through tree devisions with the help of a lot of youngsters look back at the team when we played in the 3rd devision if u are still adamant that we didn't give youth a chance then you should have gone to specsavers.

and we are not manchester united in the 90's its not feasible to have a team of just youth as most in the spl would walk over the top of a youth squad.

i do agree we should maybe bring 1or 2 into the first team like mccorrie and atakiyi and barjonas but use them in the cup games

21 Sep 2017 22:39:42
Bankie, we sold McKay because he had no heart, was inconsistent beyond belief, had a bad attitude and was sheite more often than not. Simples.

22 Sep 2017 12:11:20
Likely because he was going to walk for nothing and we can't afford that.

22 Sep 2017 12:12:56
@bankie - his attitude and form was rank rotten!
P. S. He's been on the bench for Forest as well last couple of games after starting the season well. Sound familiar?

20 Sep 2017 17:56:46
Rangers are confirmed to send a team over to the Florida cup here in Orlando.

21 Sep 2017 00:56:30
Thats the Eusabio Cup and now the Florida Cup, just need to make up another one and you can bag an imaginary treble.

21 Sep 2017 10:31:30
They will be playing in the Tim cup in Italy next.

21 Sep 2017 14:45:04
one thing i hope happens more than anything is to stop u persons from getting ten just to shut u up but even if u do get it it isn't worth as much as your nine in a row or our nine in a row as it just proves scotland are a one team league when we went down and will only be a two team league when we get back to full strength

21 Sep 2017 15:10:22
Peds the bitterness is shining thro mate, an achievement at any level is an achievement.
So Bolts medals don't matter because nobody could challenge him?
So Mayweather is not the best because no one could beat him?
Be it tiddlywinks or the greatest sport on earth if u do it ten times its a great achievement, you are just trying to undermine it because its Celtic otherwise you would have no comment on it.

21 Sep 2017 22:55:19
An achievement is only worth the work you have to put in to make it happen. Bolt had competition, Mayweather had competition, a gulf in finances had nothing to do with either of your examples achievements. You had shedloads of cash more than anyone else and absolutely NO competition. Unless you think it was all down to the skill and tactical genius of Ronny Delia lol.
And bye the way, your a long way off ten yet Rahman.

22 Sep 2017 12:15:08
What pish from you tims. Things a little quiet in Trumpton just now?

20 Sep 2017 16:38:57
Foderingham extends his contract.

Cue the outrage from the 'fans'.

20 Sep 2017 17:21:57
Lol he is a good keeper but I have to say alnwick put in a superb display last night and his disruption was fantastic. He will be pushing Wes all the way for the no1 Jersey

20 Sep 2017 18:17:29
I agree mate, top class last night!

Just feel like Wes is one of the many whipping boys at the moment. Peoooe need to remember he's also had the weakest defences in Rangers history in front of him last season. He's got a lot more shots going his way than keepers before him.

20 Sep 2017 19:52:27
Can only benefit the team having the both of them fighting for the position. Yeah I know, he's grown a lot since he signed and you don't need fresh underwear every time the ball is at his feet anymore.

Just look at all the stuff folk were saying in the paper about Pena, he's not fully up to speed yet but you can tell he's going to be a player already :-)

21 Sep 2017 00:52:12
We should be pleased, we have 2 good keepers.

21 Sep 2017 00:55:48
Campo Alnwicks distribution was fantastic last night what game were you watching he is too slow to get the ball out

21 Sep 2017 04:57:56
I was watching him boot the ball on to a head or chest either on the wing morelos near enough every time. He made one stupid slice in the game right after their keeper did it.

21 Sep 2017 10:34:20
Interesting stat i heard lads! 11 shots on target against us and 8 of them have been goals. Can we blame Fod for any of them?

21 Sep 2017 10:47:38
Camoo, I am not saying he isn't good keeper he is a great shot stopper, but the way our team is set up is when the keeper gets the ball he must use it quickly and turn the opposition round, too many times the other night he was too slow to release the ball. He needs to work on this side of his game. IMO big Wes Is the better goalie at the moment.

20 Sep 2017 10:29:53
My team for saturday, with the hope john and alves are fit would be a 4-5-1

Fod
Tav, Cardoso, Alves, Hodson
Candeias, Dorran, Pena, Jack, John
Morelos.

Would have far more confidence in John pushed forward although I think he will play miller in that position.

Regarding Pena, last night he should signs of why we bought him. wouldn't say I was amazed but definitely showing signs of what he can/ could do for us. I mean the guy has played minutes wise about 180mins and has 2 goals to his name. So I think to many people are being abit harsh on him.

20 Sep 2017 10:44:01
you cannot leave kenny miller out of an old firm game no matter how poor he has been so far this season he has a great record against that mob and no doubt he will relish the chance to keep that record going on saturday. it could be a long long 90 mins and think we will need to ride out luck a few times. here's hoping i am wrong.

20 Sep 2017 11:28:37
Miller will play!
don't know where though

20 Sep 2017 12:16:57
My rangers team against them on saturday, would be similar to fintytint's team! I would play pena instead of windass, as he's improved on his fitness and imo there's a good player there! Regarding windass, again last night against partick thistle he was anonymous yet again! NO wonder he's nicknamed the "INVISIBLE MAN", by a lot of our supporters! I've absolutely NO confidence in him and we can't have passengers against celtic on saturday! He plays the odd 20 minutes here and there and totally hides for long spells, during games! Not to mention how poor in front of goal he is! The guy is well shy in confidence! Pena has scored as much goals for us already, in hardly any game time, than windass has scored in 2 years with us! We can't rely on windass fellow bears imo, simple as that!

20 Sep 2017 15:27:23
Almost there, fintytint. If Alves and John make it, I think the team will be;
Foderingham
Tavernier Cardoso Alves John
Candeias Dorrans Pena Jack Miller
Morelos

This would give us options as to who joins up with Morelos, either Pena, Miller or Candeias, it would allow Dorrans and Jack to help shore up the defence and give us more of a backbone, without disturbing either the formation or the growing familiarity of players. But you know I have a strange feeling Pedro might try something more radical, like playing Morelos wide left and using Herrera as the target man! Over my 60 years of watching football I've seen many managers pulling strokes like this with great success - and dreadful failure!

20 Sep 2017 17:27:03
Kenny was not missed last night. I recon if we can be consistent on the left and get a few more decent midfield runs into the box eg pena style we will have a very good team and score loads. We play some very good football at times but just don't last the full 90. Kennys touch let's him down and he is hardly prolific anymore. i'd play him as a sub for last 20 mins of games.

21 Sep 2017 00:43:05
Pena showed signs of why we bought him? We paid 3mil for this guy and now he is just showing signs. I'm sorry but if we pay 3mil for a player then he has to hit the ground running from the start not show signs of what he might be about after what 8 games of the season, and still he hasn't done 90mins. Why are serious questions not being asked? Time to settle in or get fit doesn't wash. He cost us 3mil!

21 Sep 2017 00:47:04
I think peds trying mind games by saying alves is struggling.

100% this will be line up
Fod
Tav cardoso alves John
Candieas Jack dorrans windass
Miller

Morelos

I'd like to see hodson and John on the left to double up on roberts though.

21 Sep 2017 00:48:08
Alnwick

John
Cardoso
Alves
McCrorie
Tav
Jack
Dorrans

Miller
Morelos
Candeias

21 Sep 2017 00:51:59
Good team for Saturday bigsam, I could go with that. As an alternative would consider:

Fod

Tav
Cardoso
Alves
Hodson

Calderas
Jack
Dorrans
Miller
John

Morales

My team is slightly more defensive and provides cover for offensive runs of Roberts and Sinclair. Tbh I would take a draw from the fixture and win at Hamilton before the international break.

21 Sep 2017 00:57:05
I disagree over Miller, camoo, he's not an impact player he needs time to warm up as he's getting on a bit. I'd play him for an hour then bring on young, fresh legs to run at a (hopefully) tiring defence.

21 Sep 2017 08:49:47
Coldo, you never have said anythying good about Penna. At least he has scored goals. There is a player there and slowly but surely it is beginning to show. Sounds as though you have never played football for more than one team if you have played at all. I have played for more than 1 team and it does take time to get used to your team mates. Oh and by the way I played in both FA and SFA Cup qualifying rounds.

21 Sep 2017 14:07:22
Agreed, Bankie, it's a good option doubling up on the left. I just worry that we might be showing them too much respect (fear) if we line up so defensively in a home game. Courage of selection and the bravery of the players could be a vital factor. Another thing I've discussed with others is the possibility of just going 4-4-2 and lengthen the game, missing out the midfield where people expect us to be overrun. Use cross-field passes to introduce the wingers into the attack, then get tight and hunt in packs when we lose the ball. They will target Morelos and try to kick him out of the game, rile him, get him booked, and the manager must make the lad aware of this. This game, whichever way we go about it, is crying out for somebody to become a hero. My money's on Dorrans.

22 Sep 2017 12:17:08
Whats your point bluetoon? Both pena and herrera are barry white and we should never have paid 5mil for them.

20 Sep 2017 08:37:35
Any thoughts on the team Pedro should play on Saturday subject to injuries? I'd really like to see Pena and Herrera in the heat of an Old Firm match. Should Alnwick be given the nod? And what about young McCrorie if Alves is injured? Suggestions please!

20 Sep 2017 09:31:02
I'm not sure about pitching McCrorie into an old firm. Could be a stroke of genius but if it goes wrong it could spell the end for Caixinha and him.

I would hold Herrera to the bench just now as we should def still go 4-5-1 and it needs to be Morelos up top.

Alnwick did well last night so that is a tough one. Fods not had any disasters to be dropped but Alnwick gives me more confidence. Alnwick in I say.

If Alves is injured I only hope this heightens everyone's need to focus a little more. I reckon only the boss who has seen them all in training can decide who gets the nod.

My other concern is Windass is far to predictable on the left and comes inside giving us no width and cannot team up with John/ Wallace.

20 Sep 2017 09:31:09
Looking likely Bruno and John will be out which realistically leaves us with a back line of Tav Cardoso Mccrorie and Hodson. We need a LM who will track back and defend on Saturday and Windass is useless for that, issue is we have nobody to replace him.

20 Sep 2017 09:52:52
Good posts guys. What about Wilson in central defence if Alves is injured and Beerman at left back? Assuming Alves, John, Rossiter and Wallace are all out injured I'd go with (4-5-1):

Alnwick; Tavernier, Cardoso, Wilson, Hodson; Jack, Dorrans, Candeias, Pena, Beerman; Morelos

Beerman is fast and a left-sided player. We'd have Herrera and Miller on the bench if we need late goals and I've a feeling Pena will relish the Old Firm battle, as will Dorrans. We might not win but I don't think we'll lose either. My prediction: 2-2

20 Sep 2017 10:32:15
Alwick has a magnificent beard so gets my nod lol, in all seriousness though we need john in the team i liked the look of him last night, bruno won't miss out but we have to be harder in midfield in el buffalo we have somebody with confidence up top i really think we could do well, celtic are a team playing well but we can get a result as long as we keep going as we seem to give up, i also think they'll be some meaty tackles in this one can see red cards in it, as long as we win i couldn't care though, pedro did speak sense last night though its all about confidence

20 Sep 2017 10:40:06
DOIGER

I would go with your team. I think given we haven't seen too much of beerman so Pedro might go with Miller on the left.

I thought John, mccrorie, Pena and candias were all good last night. Cardozo did ok but needs to defend better when players run at him.

7 games in and we need to throw boys into the Celtic game by the look of things.

It looks like Rossiter and kranjar are done and I worry about big Wallace. His form has been poor for a while now plus it looks like he is going to struggle with his groin injury.

I think the rebuilding job is much bigger than I expected. I just hope Pedro is the right man for the job as we can't afford too many more mistakes.

20 Sep 2017 11:17:46
I'd like to know what all the doom mongers think about Pedro's signings now, in light of last night's goals. Admittedly it was only Patrick, but you can only play what's in front of you. Surely Pena and Herrera should be given a bit of time now, instead of being slaughtered on here constantly.

20 Sep 2017 12:00:59
We have played six league games with only one defeat and that was when Jack was sent off - we would have won if we had 11 men on the park. We are in the semi-finals of the League Cup and if we beat Celtic on Saturday we'll be within 2 points of them in the league and they've to go to Aberdeen next month. The last four of the League Cup could well be Rangers, Hibs, Aberdeen and Celtic, so that will be tough. The biggest flop was our Europa League defeat but that's gone now. I really do think we'll finish 2nd at worst and also within a single figure points margin from Celtic.

20 Sep 2017 13:11:02
Paddy Roberts has wet dreams about Beerman playing.

20 Sep 2017 13:12:54
I'd take 2nd with a single figure difference as a minimum Doiger.
My team for the weekend is same as most on the right and middle. I do think Alnwick deserves a shot in goal.
I'm not sure about the left. John at lb if fit. Then either beerman on left wing for cover or miller for goals.

20 Sep 2017 14:32:09
Beerman's injured, thankfully.

20 Sep 2017 15:39:20
Rahman,
You don't need to remind us, we all know your mob have wet dreams about guys

20 Sep 2017 15:47:21
Wison? We'd be better off with Davie Wilson and he's 78.

21 Sep 2017 00:28:10
Is Holt worth a try on the left in the old firm game instead of windlass as Berman is injured and don't know if nemane or dalcio are ready.

21 Sep 2017 00:50:16
Alnwick is a good shot stopper but his distribution is not as good as Wes, how many counter attacks does Wes set up each game. Alnwick is too slow getting the ball out which gives the opposition time to get back into position. It is a no brainier Wes is a better goalie hands down

21 Sep 2017 00:54:49
Or even Scott Wilson! Remember him?

21 Sep 2017 01:25:39
RtrTRnF - you are deluded mate, we will not be anywhere near single figures of Celtic this season, we have won 3 games out of 6 and if we lose on Saturday ( which we will ) it will be 8 points already. The sooner wake up and realise this the better.

22 Sep 2017 14:44:23
GraemeH89,you're replying to the wrong poster pal, I think it might be DOIGERS post. It's definitely not mine. And it's RtRnRf as in Rangers then Rangers now Rangers forever!

20 Sep 2017 08:13:01
Struggling for positives last night in general bears. Mccrorie looked excellent when he came on, Alnwick kept us in it (worryingly he had to) and John done ok until he had to come off but other than that there was not one player i'd have given pass marks. Bruno was slow the whole game, Cardoso looked a bomb scare, midfield totally lacked creativity, Windass is worse than a man down and Sammon bullied our defence majority of the game. Need to massively up our game for that mob on Saturday but never say never.

20 Sep 2017 08:52:16
I agree with certain aspects of your post rutherglenbear, however I think candias was a positive as was Pena along with young mcCorrie. Alnwick looked comfortable and Morales put in a hard shift. Jack was ok but windass dorrans and few others were all playing at 50% at most. Not good enough

I would certainly be looking at leaving Miller out on sat and possibly windass. Question is who plays instead

20 Sep 2017 09:25:25
Well that's the thing Bluenose, everyone could see we needed a left mid when mckay left. I mean windass isn't a left mid in a million years, nemane clearly isn't good enough if he can't replace windass, krancjar again, not in a million years and dalcio speaks for himself. I think Miller will get a start but don't think windass should, it's just a matter of who replaces him.

20 Sep 2017 10:22:17
was impressed with cardoso after alves went off last became more commanding winning headears something that i haven't seen from him before pena linked up well with morelos second half and team kicked on in extra time we need start playing the whole game like that tho

21 Sep 2017 13:20:06
If we can find the form we had in extra time then I think we could be unstoppable but that's only if all the other teams were playing the way thistle were in extra time knackered.

20 Sep 2017 08:06:40
Personally looking back to last night I think Rangers superior fitness levels got them through. You'd have thought Partick would have been flying in extra time getting the late goal but they were dead on their feet I'm extra time whereas our boys had that little bit extra in extra time and ground our a result. The extra sub rule in extra time definately helped is with herrera causing all sorts of problems in the final 30 including getting the killer goal. Firhill is a difficult place for anyone to go and get a win and I think Pedro's extra days training per week when most clubs just train 5 times paid off

20 Sep 2017 07:29:55
Im struggling for positives tonight. We qualified and that is all that matters i guess. Alnick kept us from being pulled down and out. If Connor Sammon of all people can bully and ghost past our defenders then we are in for real trouble. Apart from the Pena Header i thought he was lost out there. Terrible first touch, passes going astray. An maybe it is a language thing but what position is he supposed to be playing? He is all over the place. i'm just not a fan. The reason that Pedro claims that other teams raise there game against us and are physical against us is in my opinion is that we are soft and allow it. We need a serious general on that pitch.

21 Sep 2017 01:28:32
You are 100% correct mate. Everyone on here has rangers goggles on and as soon as someone talks sense and tells the truth they disagree. Pena was rotten apart from his header which was a great finish to be fair. We are in for another long hard season and I fear for what might happen on Saturday.

20 Sep 2017 04:12:13
Anyone think Jak Alnwick should be given a stsrt on Saturday sfter MOTM award tonight?

20 Sep 2017 00:19:18
So I deliberately spent my time during tonights game watching Pena. He is still a few games short of full match sharpness but I maybe see what some naysayers on here dont. I saw perfectly timed and weighted passes into the box. I saw a good understanding with Moreles. I saw vision which unfortunately some of his team mates weren't up to speed with the give and go concept. I saw him score a peach of a header. I saw a natural number 10. i'd play him ahead of Miller. I saw effort. Slate me all you want but this guy is a player.

20 Sep 2017 08:26:37
Agree. I tried to keep an eye tonight too and have similar conclusion- still not sharp enough but a better partnership for morelos. Herrera looked sharper too.

Was impressed with mcrorie, he dealt with salmon better than any of our back line. Looks composed too. Miles ahead of the likes of Bates, who reminds me of broadfoot.

20 Sep 2017 08:40:48
Agree. A little more playing time is all that's needed

20 Sep 2017 09:09:09
I agree commonsense Pena is definitely a player who has got a good understanding of the game and he put in some great passes into the box. He is going to play a big part in our success, more than Dorrans and the other players who are always mentioned on here. I also believe Herrera is going to be an asset, play him with Morelos and he could be a perfect partner (maybe not on Saturday) .

20 Sep 2017 10:04:26
Phil - whilst I agree that Pena looked improved, he still does not look anywhere near a ยฃ2m player - that's not just based on his fitness, its based on his weight of pass, and his lack of decisiveness in key moments. I hope he comes good, but for me the jury is still out.

Come Saturday, I wouldn't have him starting in an ideal world as I fear the sheer pace of the game (reference Niko last year) will cause the game to pass him by. That said, our options are thin.
If we were to play a middle 3 - for me it would be Jack Dorrans and Holt (from the players available last night) .

I hope that my negativity regarding Saturday comes back and slaps me in the face but I fear if they turn up in the mood we are onto a real sore one.

On the bright side, John and Tav both looked decent last night

20 Sep 2017 13:16:57
I watched the game last night guys and all banter aside for me it was only fitness that got u thro, aswell as Alnick saving you.
The worrying thing for you guys is that Tavarnier is still your best player and we all know what he is like defensively.

20 Sep 2017 14:20:13
Better than dorrans no chance. Dorrans will be the difference on saturday, he has the passion for the club in him. These mexican guys dontget it. They have never experienced this type of match before and its going to be a war I think. Need to get the strong tackles in early ryan jack will be the man for that.

20 Sep 2017 18:30:55
Oh no fod don't tell me your going to be more aggresive against us than all the other teams.
Thats just no fair lol. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

21 Sep 2017 00:33:02
Theres definitely something there commonsense and i know what your talking abt regarding the passes that nobody seen but i saw them. as for starting on Sat, i'd prob go with him but iv got a hunch Ped will go with Kenny.

21 Sep 2017 00:39:14
I think he did very well tbh and agree that sometimes he has been made to look a bit silly due to teammates being on a different wavelength. I'd start him in a 4 5 1 on Saturday. Not the best performance last night but some very good performances from Pena, Morelos, John and Herrera. Thought young McCrorie was outstanding as well and a nice touch from Pedro to give him a special mention.

I liked the way the team regrouped for extra time and went on to dig out the win. And an unbelievable header from Pena. Good to concentrate on the positives for a change. If we can compete in midfield and keep it tight at the back they are definitely there for the taking on Saturday. Don't forget they also struggled against Thistle and carried luck as per usual. That is due to run out. Just hope that Thompson referees the game fairly for a change

If you lot think Pena is a player yous have lost the plot. Also Iv heard people saying last night was good? Our keeper was man of the match and we drew again for the second time in a row with Partick thistle a team who now havnt won in 12 games, wtf are people watchin that they can be happy with.

A cup semi, outstaying a team way into extra time fitness wise and 3 excellent goals, a mountain of chances too. That's what Graeme!

Think the boy mcrorie could be a real talent looks to have a bit of class about him. good in the air. confident on the ball. couple of nice challenges. early days but looks a great prospect.

Big McCroriental done really well - was very comfortable on the ball - other players were more than happy to give him the ball - he was often last man and was very composed. - A very pleasing debut last night overall -

Very impressed and the boy is very thought of inside and outside of Murray park. As soon as he came on he was pointing and organising which says a lot

21 Sep 2017 00:34:06
He also played a big part in Herreras goal with a crunching tackle

19 Sep 2017 23:33:07
Was worried as full time came to a close tonight, the boys looked pure knackered and Thistle had the momentum. But credit to the boys really good in extra time and won out easily in the end. Young McCrorie looked a player, one for the future. Hope our walking wounded are OK for Saturday. If only we can get the first goal on Sat I really fancy not getting beaten, which i will take as bad as that sounds. Have to say continue to be impressed by Jack nothing fancy but really good work rate and tidys up and protects well, and Dorrans u can see he cares a real Rangers man just what we need and he has quality and can hurt teams. Jury still out on Windass and Pena has to be on bench on Saturday still looks a wee yard or two off the pace, but agree with other posts think he will come good with time. c'mon the Gers can't wait till Saturday.

20 Sep 2017 08:22:25
Windass been at club over a year can you not see by now he isn't what's needed and can't last longer than 25 mins

20 Sep 2017 08:55:23
Windass is great in flashes. He'd be better used as an impact player coming on for the last 20 minutes

21 Sep 2017 00:35:59
I think it was Morelos that was dead on his feet that made us look tired. he was so tired and kept getting deeper therfore our defenders had to sit deeper which invited crosses. u seen that in ET when he went off, we looked re-energized and like a new team. by the way that's not a criticism to Morelos because he put in some shift

Tbh sick of reading n hearing rangers fans slag the team the manager the tactics etc. We have enough of the other side putting us down and they fully expect to put a good few past, us on sat. We are in a cup qtr final. Third in the league and only getting stronger. Its about getting behind the team n let others put us down. But hey that's just me. Old firm week is always exciting

20 Sep 2017 10:14:19
Mate, the simple thing is this, the days of following blindly are gone. Fans are far more astute with regard to tactics and style. I think most sound minded people would expect at least a 3 goal difference on Saturday if both teams show up to their fullest capability and that in itself is damning enough of a club that has spent heavily in the summer. Forums like this are here for people to vent their complaints and their worries, not here to be fan boys that, regardless of circumstance, chant how great that we are.

Come a Saturday, I am sure 8/ 10 of the people you aimed this post at will turn up, and shut up (literally) and watch the game with the best of hopes and intentions. We can then come on here during the week and vent our frustrations. Or would you rather we just all pretended that the ship is steady and that we are world beaters?

If you are happy with the manager, the players, the board and the current situation then I applaud you, however, I know that as a fan base - being in cup semis, being 3rd in the league, expecting to get turned over in a game against them, struggling for any real form and more importantly struggling to find positives about our manager - this is not acceptable for a few reasons:

1 - We pay good money and expect that to be transferred onto the park
2 - Our history dictates that it is not good enough

20 Sep 2017 10:41:32
TBB. I agree in what, you say mate but we are onlyba few games into the season. Had a walter smith or such likes been in this positon then not a peep would be said. Its mostly the fact PC isn't a "rangers man". Yes we have lots to improve on however we have improved and seem to be picking up positives as we go. Its not all gna happen. Over night mate. Ideally, a 1-0 on sat n we can all, enjoy a dram on sat eve lol

20 Sep 2017 13:19:25
Pena still not full fit, could see that a mile, but you could see he is an intelligent footballer and just needs a little more game time. Not sure who Ped will play on Saturday but just hope Hodson is nowhere near the team, a total liability, good honest pro but hopeless. let's get in their faces as there defence not the best

20 Sep 2017 14:40:45
blueblazer: "Fans are far more astute with regard to tactics and style. " ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Made my week, you should be on the stage, mate!

21 Sep 2017 00:45:43
Blueblazer, take a bow, very well said. Far too many yes man fans on here can't handle the truth.

21 Sep 2017 01:35:27
Totally agree blue blazer, to many fans now accepting below par performances, keeper get man of the match against thistle who we failed to beat 2 games in a row over 90 mins and people are jus saying there happy to be in the next round? Not good enough for the rangers.

22 Sep 2017 15:01:16
You know what GraemeH89, I'm getting heartily sick of all the negativity coming from you and some notable others on here. This is a whole new team for God's sake. Sometimes you have to grind out results against so called lesser teams and with a team that have played so few games together, there was some great football, clever touches and obvious signs of a team progressing. smile man!

19 Sep 2017 23:10:39
I fear am absolute hiding on Saturday. Our ball retention is absolutely shocking. When we go ahead we should be making the opponent chase the ball for long spells of the game, draw them out and attack the space. Instead we constantly lose possession and defend deeper and deeper until we eventually concede. Initially I thought Dorrans and Jack in the middle would work but IMO they are not able to control games the way they should. Not sure if they are too deep or too far apart but something has to change/ improve quickly!
