just watching sportscene and did anyone notice wylde ran ( while looking at the fans ) kissing the badge ? contract is done ?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

I noticed this as well - thought it was wierd considering all the negativity that has been surrounding his contractual situation. could this be a hint that he wishes to stay?

First and foremost good performance and cracking result today Hopefully a step in the right direction under mccoist. Thought the youngsters played well on there 1st competitive start. The ball moved more freely and forward without edu or mcculloch in the side and the Ortiz played great tucked in at inside right. I think we are building a squad capable of retaining the title, however the 2 positions I would like to see strengthened are right back and striker. McMillan deserves to keep his place as I feel the boy offers more than Whittaker(play wide right) and as for broadfoot he won't cut it. Therefore IMO right back needed maybe an experienced guy on loan. I think o
Also our first choice strike pair are jelavic and lafferty and a new striker to keep them on there toes is needed and I would plump for rickie lambert at Southampton.
WATP thoughts

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Ricky lambert is a good shout but Southampton r doing well Jst now u think they would sell ?

Agree0 Disagree0

They might do, am not to sure if they are still under finical pressure , worth a cheeky wee bid

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 23:09:15
all the rumours about jelavic leaving has to stop fellow bears he said himself when man utd were linked with him that he WOULD be staying at ibrox for atleast another season

Believable2 Unbelievable1

21 Aug 2011 23:06:43
we played awesome today. to think that we were missing 11 bodies including the 3 new guys, bedoya, bocanegra and mckay, we didnt need them we will be very strong when these guys are on board and it will be interesting how ally lines the team up moving on...

also - does anyone else think we now have too many midfielders? i counted last night and we have well over 10, i would get rid of edu if possible and use the cash to buy a striker to challenge laff and jela

thoughts?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Get the idea of selling edu out your head he is part of whites money making plan to hit american market so wd are stuck with edu for a coupple of years wither he gets a game or not no matter how bad he dose he is staying fact

Agree0 Disagree0

Agee striker is needed for competition but I also feel we need another right back

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd loan out Fleck, I think he would really benefit from a year of playing regularly. I'd rather get rid of McCulloch than Edu because we seem to be keen on Americans so it would be a bit odd to now sell him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 23:02:44
2 more signings need and I firmly believe it will be 4 in row :)

1. Striker - Russell?
2. Winger - Templeton?

MacGregor
Whittaker -- Bartley -- Goian -- Wallace
Ortiz -- Naismith -- Davis -- Templeton?
Jelavic -- Lafferty

Subs: Alexander, Weir, Papac, Ness, Bedoya, Wylde, Russell?

Squad: Boca, Perry, MacMillan, Broadfoot, Hutton, McCulloch, Edu, McKay, Healy, Beattie, Hemmings

I think we actually have quite a strong squad this year.

Banter Please Ed, So People Can Comment :)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Dundee UTD have to sell a player so we could get Russell and Templeton would be good too but I would have Bocanegra in the team-not a squad player

Agree0 Disagree0

No Whittaker mcmillian tens times better

Agree0 Disagree0

Templetons a ponce let our youth flourish perry mcmillan wylde ness ali was backed in 2 a corner today the baby bears dug him out we have to play off the front foot take the game to the opponent we can do it bin walters negativity god bless him this is your 1 chance ally we crave a rangers team who are fearless last 4 games of last season proved that bring it back fortress ibrox ally remember your gallus style as a kid against rangers for st johnstone the baby bears are there play them its in you come on make your mark show us today was your way forward for the rangers do it one special club united forever never bettered gstq highland bear

Agree0 Disagree0

You've also left out McKay, do not underestimate him coz he comes from Aussyland. He is a very skilful player and will be in the first team.

Fourth official claims Coventry in for le fondre on twitter. Is he any good and worth a punt?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2011 22:56:50
just watched st johnstone getting pumped and winning 1-0 , i only saw the highlights and "they" didnt look too bad ,they just didnt hit the net lol but on their site theyr going bananas, a bit like thursday night on here just goes to show what 90 mins can do, so dont go reading tooooo much into theyre result today WATP. jammy D

Believable3 Unbelievable0

I have watched it too. They were terible much as they were against Dundee unt last weekend. the 5-1 score that day just papered over the cracks. celtic are the real club in trouble. We have slod less and brought in more than them, they have a group of players with no direction and a board of directors with massive self interest. Mr Whyte makes no boans about the fact he is not a football man, but there board is running and hiding. They put Lennon on a pedastal last year, sit back and watch how fast they knock him off it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought Celtic looked really lackluster. I haven't seen anything from them to make me worry.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 22:51:23
I would kind of like a move for Tom Hateley. Good free kick deadly with corners as well almost caught out McGregor a few times 2day but we have a great keeper (unlike celtic) think he would be quite good signing cheap as well.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

We should get douf and vlad give young wylde a long term contract and we r set
{Ed047's Note - Diouf? I don't think so. What did he give us last time?

Believable1 Unbelievable4

He gave us all a good laugh at times.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gave us a goal in europe? gave us commitment to our club that he definitely hasn't shown at blackburn since. I amn't too keen on him on account of his recent procrastination but certainly worth a pun if blackburn will sell cheaply and he'd take the wage cut (unlikely)

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 22:19:43
bears did anyone notice that without edu and mculoch in the team the teamwere not only forward thinking but passing seriously we have been waiting to see the team without edu and with wylde in the team and look at the result unbeleivable

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Keep them out, the youngsters that came in today were a credit and showed some desire and energy, which was a breath of fresh air. Play the same squad on Thursday and we will spank Maribor.

21 Aug 2011 22:09:12
can we please move on from this le fondre talk. it doesnt say anywhere that we are even after this guy. on the evidence of todays reults/performances i think that if super ally throws all his eggs into one basket and goes all out to bring in a top striker like walter did with jelavic then i have no doubt it will be 4 in a row. the money that was set aside for goodwillie is still there plus that for the failled attempt to land the hungarian defender = 5million. why not just go and get a top striker for 3-4 million.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Never heard of him, couldnt care less if he signs or not

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 21:41:57
I don't think big jela is going anywhere in the near future. Personally I think he played his heart out today and every time he steps onto the pitch he gives 100% he's a Ger through and through I wouldn't expect him to go anywhere but to sign a new contract :) steven w. WATP {Ed047's Note - He can be here for a few years yet but he does want to try the EPL someday

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Mate,i,m a big gers fan also but if jelavic has any ambition he would get out of this league as soon as he can

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we will stay after this season for a crack at the champions league then move somewhere else after that

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know about that mate if rangers fail to stay in europe id expect a player of his class to leave. thats a worry

21 Aug 2011 21:41:03
Not sure where to start so cogratulations to the whole team especially the youngsters..I know alotta people that post the negative perspective are sellick fans (no doubt) but I believe SUPER ALLY is gonnae be a great manager and we are gonnae have a great season(4IAR) and defeat this Slovenian mob on thursday..AS DO ALL REAL BLUENOSES.....just the facts just the facts...watp...

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Tell you one thing ally is 100% commited to rangers and is a winner he does not accept 2nd best. lets wait and see. the team needs to improve big time but im delighted to see the young boys in the team today. id like to see whittaker droped from the team his defending is mince. {Ed047's Note - agreed

are people on here crazy???

Weiss would be a fantastic signing for the club, 20 year old slovakian international who was exactly the sort of plyr we never had for years, yeah he had a few small flaws but hes young and learning the game also he was playing in a certain defensive system in certain games, but his technical ability and pace is brilliant. but what a steal he would be with

Papac, Weir(not alot), whitty, Bocanegra, Bartley, Wallace, Goian, Broadfoot.

Davis(main man), Bedoya, McKay, Edu, McCulloch, Wylde, Ortiz.

Jelavic, Naismith, Lafferty, Healy.

I think another striker and a winger and the squad looks briliantly healthy.

Top of the league , do the business at ibrox on thursday, players coming in and coming back, the future looks superb, what a time to be a bear, Celtics squad is leeking honestly seen highlights of them today we have no reason to fear them atall the league should be a walk.

if you agree click

GazGer54 {Ed047's Note - were you on this site last week? Have the posters had given up the league. Quite a few saying we'd win nothing this season. Strange how 90 mins can change things. I wouldn't underestimate Celtic by any means but we have to believe 4-in-a -row is very realistic

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Aye get behind ally ffs. tell all you idiots out there something now get out there and buy your tickets for thursday now get behind ally and the team and stop all your crap the team needs to hear us behind them NOTHING m motivates the team more than the fans geting behind them COME ON get out and buy your tickets and support wee ally. or **** off.

dont see what all the fuss is about jamie murphy, he was terrible today and in all fairness that was against jordan mcmillan so how bad would he be against better defenders and would prefer to see chris humpreys as he has the beating of any defender at his best.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Maybe the rumours about him being a bear are correct and he lay down for us? Just a (semi-serious) thought.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 21:23:12
Didnt get to see the game was working today. However saw the highlights and the goals looked great. Lafferty was the pick of the bunch and that was a strike, for me, that sends out a message that if he stays free from injury he could be first on the team sheet to partner Jelly.

Not that I saw much else I was delighted to see Ally high fiving and bouncing on the sidelines, where i would like to him.

Without doubt, I've said it before and will say it again. There is no other Manager that conducts themselves in front of the camera better than Ally. Poised, controlled, articulate. He looks to be growing confidence and with new players coming we are quickly working towards Ally's Rangers and not Sir Walters.

Of course I would expect some abuse for the above from certain so called 'worried' fans. But they must be busy Only interested in posting when it's not all rosy

Now for a much improved performance in The Europa.

Well done Ally

Hi ed is there any truth in the le fondre rumours, no heard much about the guy is he what people would say as rangers class ? I think some of the youngsters deserve a run in the team like Ross perry & Jordan McMillan , think it would be unfair to drop them after playing so well just because there are more experienced defenders becomin available, they should be made fight for the right to pull on the famous blue jersey, what's do you think ? {Ed047's Note - no, as far as I know they are just rumours. I thought McMillan proved he's more reliable than Whittaker in that position and gives more than Broadfoot. Perry unfortunately is up against Bartley, Bocanegra, Goian and Weir for one of the CB positions but I'd have no concerns with him playing.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

21 Aug 2011 17:43:12
hi ed just came across this site keep up the gd work don,t think murphy would enhance our team got enough young boys of our own give them their chance wot u think. watp {Ed047's Note - just came across it? Tut tut! where have you been? Murphy had a quiet game today. Not quite sure if he'd enhance our squad

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2011 20:28:58
I'm really concerned because, whilst trying to keep the Edu and McCulloch bashing to minimum look how wide our play was frequent spells of the game today and how our midfield was more inclined to pass the ball up the pitch and get forward for a change. I honestly, genuinely don't think that would be the case if Edu was playing today...

This concerns me beacuse, he's never gonna get left out of the squad unless he's injured or suspended...meaning he will start against Maribor and we can't afford to have the usual midfiled performance.

I'd try to keep a similar team...Shame, Naisy is out because he was SUPERB today. His workrate, defending and heart was....Rangers class.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

21 Aug 2011 20:13:47

is it only me who thought ross perry done a good job today ?

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Am with yu m8, the boy looks like hes not scared of a tackle, also quite tactically smart and only for a young boy

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought majority of the team were great today. Naismith was my Man of The Match along with Davis but MacMillan and Perry were extremely good also. I'd give them a go against Maribor..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ross perry was great today as was mcmillan bit wayward in some tackles but he was solid .....bigt {Ed047's Note - thought he only had one bad tackle for which he was cautioned. Later he pulled out of a tackle because he knew he'd be sent off. Whittaker. on the other hand, would have charged in like a bull in a china shop.

Agree0 Disagree0

Same here looks solid {Ed047's Note - his positional sense for a youngster is excellent

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't know what all this guff about wiess being a ger and to splash 3 million to bring him home. He warmed the bench most of last season ffs. The only reason ppl are saying bring him home is because he mimicked samarass at the championship party. Hardly a good signing policy is it.

DD

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The only reason Weiss warmed the bench a lot is because Sir Walter, while great... and he was great, prefered to focus first on not losing. Weiss is quick, skillful, intelligent and hungry and as far as i am concerned, and i'm sure my sentiments are shared by the majority of my fellow bears, this would be the perfect time to bring him in as a regular starter. Wylde, Hutton adn Hemmings could all learn from him and his flair would be a massive lift for the appeal of the SPL. Get him Craig... Get him NOW We fans demand it

Excellent performance today. McCoist got his tactics and team selection spot on - albeit he was forced into the changes due to suspensions and injuries. The the counter attacking strategy adopted proved effective as, for the first time this season, we looked menacing going forward. Even Ortiz put in a decent shift and played a cracking through ball for lafferty's goal. Goin looks a good player considering the fee we paid for him and Perry and McMillan were excellent despite minimal appearances in the first team. My only concern is that with Bartley, Bocanegra, Weir and Whittaker to come back, the younger's (Perry and Mcmillan) game time will be fleeting at best. They players deserve a run in the team.

Hopefully McCoist plays 4-4-2 against Maribor; If he does I think we will win fairly comfortably. If he reverts back to his conservative and prohibitive tactics I feel we may struggle.

Good performance today. I thought Naismith was brilliant at CM, much better than Edu or McCulloch. Ortiz was really good, clearly he is an inside right and not a winger, he likes to tuck in and play passes. Great to see Lafferty back and scoring, he could be really important this year.

Finally starting to see why we signed Ortiz today, when played on the right or through the middle his range of passing was excellent and he likes to get up and support the forwards aswell. Thought we had another capucho on our hands but was impressed with his display today, not perfect by a long shot but starting to show promise, one things for sure he is definitely not a left winger Also great to see big laff get on the scoresheet today, the big man looked sharp considering his lack of action. Also heard that Murray Davidson played really well at the piggery the day and got right in Browns face, he will be signed before the end of the window just 100,000 between the two clubs valuations, source Murray Davidson.

day 1 of the season you could tell the presure was on ally, nervous in front of cameras subdued on the side lines, he knows whats expected of him and doesnt want to let any one down, we are a few games in now and he looks like he is settling in more relaxed now in front of cameras, becoming his old self on touchline whittaker should be worried the youngsters came on today and played well, and smeltic lost WATP come on ally

Believable3 Unbelievable0

i have to admit seeing the team i was worried all the young lads done well ally got the team right 2day for a change 1 win doesnt mean he is a great manager either 3 wins out of 7 still makes it the worst start to a gers manager ever thats FACT
we shall see what happens on thursday

T-Bear

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Got tae give ally time to bring in the players he wants and to get the team playing the way he sees it it will come good

Agree0 Disagree0

Unbeaten in the league 3 clean sheets in a row in the league. He has to learn Europe is a different ball game. Cut him some slack he deserves a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Despite the record books showing a bad start to the season we are still top of the table thats all that matters WATP

Agree0 Disagree0

The league for me is all that matters but i aint gona be shouting from the roof tops coz of 1 win 2 day

Really impressed with mcmillan and perry today, dont know why we need all the defenders weve been linked with recently. We should use all our resources to get biseswar and a forward in. Heard also that leigh griffiths could be coming on loan from wolves.

Fantastic result today. Not many people seem to realise just how poor a Celtic team this is. Bridge? Bellamy? Gordon??. Never had a chance with any of them, total smokescreen from Lawell and the their fans are dumb enough to believe it.

Ally is doing fine. To all the part-time fans calling for big spending please realise we can't go down that road again. 2.8 million for Goodwillie is a hell of a lot of cash to spend on a guy who does not have the mentality to play for the Gers.

Everyone enjoy the papers tomorrow.

It actually sickens me the way I was on this web site a day or two ago, i scrolled down the page only to see comment after comment with the same theme of 'sack ally'.

It was all doom and gloom, we were a joke apparently. And now after one wee win, it's 'great performance, we are superb etc.

I think it's about time everyone realised that we are top of the table, we are as good as in the group stage of the Europa League, and we have made two or three decent signings-so lay off Ally Mccoist.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Results have went our way today - we deserved the win i felt with a gritty performance. Alot more positive forward play without McCulloch in my opinion despite davis being a little sloppier than usual in the center. Jela had a few silly misses but did the work for the first goal. Nice to see the youth doing Well (pun intended)

Big difference not having Edu & McCulloch in the Rangers team today. Nice to see Rangers using width with Wlyde & using Ortiz on the Right where he should be. Also nice seeing Perry & McMillian doing well. All Postive. Bring Maribor on for Thursday. Cmon Bears get behind the team

Believable2 Unbelievable0

EDU,S CONFIDENCE IS DOWN AND NO WONDER GIVE THE GUY A BREAK GET BEHIND HIM AND STAY OFF THE GUYS BACK, IAM SURE YOU WOULD BE GOOD AT YOUR JOB IF EVERY C..T WAS SLAGGING YOUR WORK OFF.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, We looked better today than we have done this season. Maybe it was because McCulloch and Edu were not playing. But F.F.S. both of them are Rangers players and will be needed during what will be a long season. Get off their backs and give them your support. My only problem with them is that the 2 of them cant play in the same side. It has to be one or the other. But lets get behind them both. Rant Over.

I think Ross perry deserves the chance of a decent run in the team with his recent performances, what's the cries on this ??

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Perry is the one we need why are we looking for someone else it would put ross down the pecking order just because ally would feel obligated to play a player he paid money for

Agree0 Disagree0

If injuries persits then i don't see why not. However, the fact we've brought in so many defensive reinforcements suggests that youth wont be a focus this year. I think the back 4 will be Whittaker, Goian, Boca, Wallace. I hope Papac gets time to play this season otherwise i fear he may move elsewhere. So consistent for us but Wallace has been our signing of the season so far in my opinion. M

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2011 16:02:35
Great Result today All the lads done their bit but young Wylde was outstanding and surely Ally needs to get him tied down on a better deal. It was interesting to notice how well we do going forward when Davis plays through the middle and Edu is nowhere to be seen. I'd also like to see us make a move for Tom Hately, he is not the greatest defender but his delivery from the dead ball is second to none and with the help of Davie Weir he could turn in to a great talent.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

21 Aug 2011 16:01:15
Good performance on the whole. Fed up with opposing fans shouting cheat at the ref and singing who's the mason in the black. Offensive song? I think so. especially when the ref's decision was spot on

Very impressed with 2days performance. Only player I would be looking to change would be wylde. He runs alot but just never seems to do anything

Mc millian and perry have been excellent and so was Ortiz and big Kyle lafferty.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

U having a laugh? Wylde played his part tody along with the rest of the younger players. Away and finish your tea......

Agree0 Disagree0

Team looked good today young boys
done us proud and Ortiz looks better
on the right, noticed the Tims missed
a pen and are a goal down this day just gets better

Agree0 Disagree0

Wylde took his goal well but i feel that he's trying to advertise himself, going himself and all that... hopefully im wrong and hes actually just showing Ally why he deserves his place, but i'd rather he worked on making a killer pass than making his runs intent on taking a shot no matter how outrageous the position.

Finally McCoist has set up his team right today

Wylde has played great on the left wing, and you can clearly see that Ortiz is much more comfortable on the right. Wee McMillan has been outstanding at right back so far Looking forward to him getting a few more games this season

C'mon the Gers

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Well, not many bears can argue with that We got Wylde playing, we got Davis in the middle, we got sbstitutions and we even had Super Ally shouting. We, in the last 2/3 seasons have been very slow and drab on the ball and reluctant to get forward....We attacked today, defended well and hit the crossbar a couple of times.

Too scared to pass comment on the match so far in case I jinx things lol I will say this though, I notice a positive change already.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I'm still too reluctant to comment until the final whistle but how good has Naismith been? Fantastic. His defending, effort and will to get stuck in and fight for the ball/team has been superb.

Davis looking very good today in terms of energy and pushing forward...Which is a very welcome return. He was starting to get a bit complacent and almost uninterested but that's great stuff from him today.

I think we got a good bargain with Goian.

Now, of late I've been one of the pessimistic gurners in frequent fashion but I AM a real fan and follow my team no matter what and today we're looking more like a team opposed to Glasgow Strangers.

Hopefully the last 20 mkinutes are much the same and we keep a clean sheet and possibly another goal.

Healy is more than capable. He plays for the shirt too, that's undeniable. He had a bad run clubwise and internationally were he almost dissapeared off the map but he hasn't even been giving a chance to prove himself at Rangers.

Heard a brief snippet of Radio Scotland yesterday. They mentioned that should Rangers and Celtic go out of The Europa League next week, Scotland will rank alongside likes of San Marino. Can this really be the case or is it just hyperbole for effect? Hard to believe a nation with a club competing in the final only a couple of year ago could be in that boat, even after a few lean years.

Hope both Rangers and Celtic progress and Hearts can salvage some sort of semblance of respectability in London- that's certainly hard to see though. Was a bit surprised by the sheer magnitude of the apparent gulf in ability at Tynecastle through the week. Don't know if it's just we play each other that often in Scotland that we know each other so well, but the provincials often give Rangers and Celtic a real game at home, however, never turn-up in any of these European games, regardless of the quality of the opposition it seems to me. Sometimes think if my local junior team turned up and called themselves Spartak something or other and took on our provincial European representatives in any given year they'd give them a good horsing- they go in expecting it I think.

He's a player who would settle in easily and one who would play for the jersey This is the kinda player we need {Ed001's Note - if the money is there it would be possible, he would certainly not be averse to returning. But it is his wages that would prove the main difficulty, he gets good money at City. I expect the move to Kiev to be completed this week myself.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Mate lay off the glue. It's not McCoists fault if certain players aren't coming. It's down to the money men. Weiss will be on a packet when he joins Kiev and i reckon Cuellar is gubbed wae injury. Why else would Villa be letting him go so cheaply? It's been said time & time again on here, all Ally can do is hand in a list of players he thinks can improve the team. It's not McCoists job to negotiate with agents and deal with the contracts. McCoist has identified plenty of players recently and Whyte has failed to deliver the majority of them. I'll reserve judgement on Whyte though until the 1st of September. He deserves the benefit of the doubt as does McCoist.
