Actually enjoying the fact a bulk of the support have their reservations before the season has kicked off.

Keeps people's expectations realistic unlike early last season when some clowns thought we were going to win the league after just being promoted.

The loaf said that he aimed to be competitive last year which was so far off the mark but I do expect us to up our level of performance this year and be competitive. We have a more physical side this year which once it finds its feet should be in a better place to dig in when we are up against it in crucial away games etc.

i think a lot is riding on the two Mexicans settling in as these are pedros main two gambles I believe due to fees paid. If they flop Pedro may find himself under pressure as they really need to perform going by the look of the rest of the squad. People may feel dorrans is a gamble but I think he will have no bother settling at ibrox and he is a solid pro.

I still worry about our lack of fire power I do need to admit but it's early days. I will get a good look at the team tomoz at ibrox.

Well said Coplandcafu. With regards up front, i'm hoping if Morelos is actually played as a main striker and he is given decent service he should find the net, just going by his record in Finland.

I honestly don't think it's the strikers that's the problem at Rangers. we see so much of the ball and create so little, case and point; Josh Windass was the player who created most assists last season. I mean how many games did he guy even start? He was out injured constantly also. The stat was something like an assist every 209 mins. There's your problem right there. Let's hope the new midfielders can create for the strikers!

21 Jul 2017 22:42:34
cant put my finger on why, but i get the feeling there is a Judas in the camp and I think his name might be Kenny, just get an uncomfortable feeling, Last season he had a lot to say in the press and I just wonder if he has made the new foreign guys feel a little unwelcome, maybe it will change now Bruno is finally aboard?

22 Jul 2017 00:25:39
Was it tea leaves or the ouija board that told u

22 Jul 2017 01:04:13
Go to bed mate, jeezo

22 Jul 2017 01:32:56
might have been the tarot cards, or maybe I'm right? who knows, remember its a banter site, you should read ALL the posts, it reads like fantasy island full of would be football experts and managers

I keep reading the clamour for more Scots, a Scottish backbone or guys with experience of the SPL.

The Scottish game is crap. The standard is poor, the Scotland team can barely scrape together a win. why should we go Scottish?

Sourness brought in "foreigners" with no SPL experience. The guys like Woods, Butcher, Francis, Roberts and Wilkins were just great players.

We could afford these guys now because of the money in England but we should aim higher than "any Scottish".

22 Jul 2017 09:34:09
BR, A scottish basis has and always will be important.
Souness managed to bring in all these english boys due to money and the fact that English clubs were banned in Europe at the time.
But even during those years it was deemed important to have Scots including Souness himself, Gough, McCall, McCoist etc.

22 Jul 2017 11:34:07
Wilson Wallace Bates Jack dorrans miller holt are these guys French American Italian? Erm naw their Scottish so anyone going on we need Scottish player need too look at the squad lol but at same time how many of these guys are international for a poor Scotland team?

22 Jul 2017 14:06:57
I was referring to players with some kind of pedigree or fight in them Frustratedbear1.
Wilson is a lazy farce. Holt is a passenger most of the time, who was brought in to make up numbers. Bates is a prospect who will be nurtured.
We need players who are willing to go to war every week and play through injury, hence why Dorrans and Jack are a step in the right direction.
Back in 2008 we had McGregor/ Alexander, Weir, Broadfoot, Whittaker, Ferguson, Thomson. Players like Cuellar, Papac and Cousin were a luxury.
Teams that win no what it means to play for us. Just saying. We get the backbone, we start competing.

22 Jul 2017 14:30:21
Foreigners from England totally brilliant.
In case u didn't know mate they have the same passport as us.
Maybe it got lost in translation as most of you speak Brazilian now lol.

21 Jul 2017 16:54:07
IMO the Rangers team is looking good. In order for them to compete at the level we are looking for however, their must be more proven Scottish players added to the mix. Naismith's battling qualities are an obvious requirement and the guaranteed goals of Stevie May being overlooked is alarming. Acquiring the likes of Dorrans and Jack are major steps but do any other fans feel as if the team still lacks a bit of Scottish backbone?

21 Jul 2017 17:28:34
I'm inclined to agree and disagree here Nassau.
A more scottish feel to the team definitely. However I'm not convinced May is a good bet. I'm torn over Naisy.
A Scottish backbone would suggest a CB and striker that are Scottish?
Most Scots CB's are poor currently and I would prefer our top 2 to most of them.
As for striker's there are few I would like to see in a blue jersey, either too pricey or not talented enough (Cummings has talent but again torn over him) .
We should IMO have gone for Paterson at RB. Would like to see Walker still.
I think we should give our keepers this season then sell the worse of the 2 and let Kelly move up or bring in another Scot in there.

So we would have Kelly, Wilson, Bates, Wallace, Jack, Holt, Dorrans, Walker, Naisy, Miller

21 Jul 2017 20:40:11
Bluegenius

Amazed we didn't go for Liam Lyndsay. Made the spfl team of the year and left for a modest sum

22 Jul 2017 07:16:44
I agree Nassau bear, although no sure about may. I think we should. Have went for Naismith, McClean, maybe big Lindsay pushed boat out for Patterson and Walker. Feel Chris cadden worth a wee gamble. add that to jack, dorrans and the Wallace's millers etc . then you could have a few foreigners.

22 Jul 2017 11:25:36
You raise a good interesting point here, Nassau_Bear! I would really like us to sign motherwell striker louis moult, who is a proven goalscorer up here in the spfl! If we don't manage to agree a fee to sign jamie walker then i'd hope we go and sign motherwell winger chris cadden, who's very strong and powerful! Just my own personal opinion here mate, i wouldn't want stevie naismith anywhere near my club ever again and this is coming from a season ticket holder and shareholder of over 40 years now!

22 Jul 2017 14:33:32
"Looking good" please explain to all of us uneducated lot.
WHERE did you see them looking good?
The Progres game?
Maybe the ST. Johnstone game?
We are dying to know

21 Jul 2017 16:27:00
When the Titanic sank, a small band of musicians refused to stop playing music and sank with the boat. Others on the other hand were pushing the women and children out of the way to get on a lifeboat.

Its only when things are not going right when we see peoples true character.

Keep the faith guys and don't get sucked into the negativity.

Rangers till I die.

21 Jul 2017 17:29:30
Keep playing your tune buddy!

21 Jul 2017 18:11:56
"And the music played"

21 Jul 2017 20:43:15
It's difficult to be positive after a 5-1 home tanking, lying down to your greatest rivals in a cup semi and losing your unbeaten home record to Aberdeen. Throw into that the shambolic and highly embarrassing Europa loss and fans are entitled to be worried about the direction the club are going under the current manager

21 Jul 2017 21:27:47
Whats the alternative winge like a weed or take it on the chin and get up again and again, drag your self to the finishing line even if your last. That's what this club is built on if your not up to that then support elsewhere.

21 Jul 2017 23:59:16
And what happened to the musicians?

21 Jul 2017 15:24:17
we sold (gave away) young billy gilmour to chelsea anyone know if we had the wit to get any add ons in the future if he is sold on in years to come?

21 Jul 2017 17:14:21
it would only be guesswork but i hope they did put in an add on or a sell on clause

21 Jul 2017 17:31:13
I am guessing but I don't think he was on a pro contract so we had no way of putting clauses in as we have no rights too him. We only got development fee as far as I understand.

22 Jul 2017 11:24:23
Its a difficult one weebck. As I understand it, the payment we recieved was also for Chelsea to get the opportunity to talk to Gilmour first. I do not think that there will be any other payments regarding add-ons (imo)

But I do think that due to the transfer Chelsea may be more inclined to do business with us via loans. I think that they will promote our Club to certain Players they want to loan out but not all. So I think there is a good chance that we will see 1/ 2 loans arrive near end of Window. These Players may not be top of Pedro's list, the Gilmour deal could have basically strengthened the Clubs relationship.

21 Jul 2017 14:56:21
If we go out and pump marseille 3-0 will fans get behind the manager and team again or will a result like that be brushed off as its only a friendly!? I think a lot of fans have completely written off this team before the season even kicks off.

21 Jul 2017 15:19:22
RfcChris what if we get pumped 3-0 we will be starting the season on the back foot, every Rangers fan hopes we turn things round and win the league this season but have YOU seen anything that makes you think that this is remotely possible? If we win 3-0 tomorrow then that will be a wee sign that we are perhaps on the right track but judging on what I've seen I'm worried.

21 Jul 2017 15:30:28
Jyf, there in lies the problem I'm afraid.
There is very little sense of realism amongst so many of our fans. There is virtually no chance of us winning the league this season. If we finish second, and get within 12 points of Celtic, it will be a very successful season in my opinion. We need 6 or 7 of our new signings to be successful this season and add 2 or 3 quality players the season after and aim to get within 6 points of Celtic in that season and so on, and so on.

21 Jul 2017 16:27:12
Big J there does indeed lie the problem, I expect us to win the league and see that as success where as you see finishing 12 points behind them as not only successful but Very successful and you don't even expect us to win the league next season. With your low expectations then you are without doubt going to have a far happier season than me, bring it on!

21 Jul 2017 20:46:07
Jyf,

I admire your optimism however I have to agree with big J we won't get anywhere near them again next season and will be lucky to win any silverware. I hope I'm wrong and will be first on here to say I was wrong however I don't think that will happen and I think the manager will be gone by xmas.

21 Jul 2017 14:31:31
1st time poster, and as a Rangers fan and season ticket holder of 35 years I'm utterly embarrassed at some of the so called Rangers fans posting on here and calling for the mangers head at this stage!
1st things first - Pedro's record last season needs to completely ignored. He inherited a bunch of players who were bought specifically by Warbuton to play a certain style of football. Most weren't good enough to achieve even that. What chance did Pedro have trying to get them to play to his preferred style - absolutely none.
Secondly, the Progres game came at a time when the majority of our new signing had been at the club for less than 2 weeks (some less than a week) . Granted, it was a dreadful performance, but some degree of perspective needs to be taken here. We hit the bar 3 times in the second half. Had any of those chances gone in, we'd have gone through.
Thirdly, anybody that knows anything about football, knows not to place any emphasis on pre season friendlies, particularly bounce games.
Time to wise up guys. Give the manager and the players a chance, and get behind the team. If we don't, they have no chance of any form of success, because they'll be on the back foot before they even take to the park on a Saturday.

21 Jul 2017 14:46:10
Best post in long time well said think a lot that post here don't support rangers just scared Tim's

21 Jul 2017 15:42:33
Big-J70 if your a season ticket holder for 35 years then you'll know that the fans have called for managers heads that had far better records than pedros.
second, the progress game is the worst result in our history and it happened on pedros watch, if the players were not ready then simply don't play them and play a team that is ready.
Thirdly no-one is placing too much emphasis on bounce games but on top of two humpings by them one by a record score, a fist defeat at Ibrox in 26 years by the sheep and two terrible results against a bunch of amateurs then the emphasis changes.
I'll be at Ibrox tomorrow cheering my team on win or lose but that does not stop me having ( and expressing ) MY opinion on here and if that embarrasses you then i apologise.

21 Jul 2017 16:39:20
Well said Big J-70 I was one of the fans shouting for his head on here and still think few results have been highly unacceptable but all things considered we have no choice but to get behind the team and manager . We can all criticise but that achieves nothing so tomorrow a big loud support is what's needed.

21 Jul 2017 19:11:54
Absolute garbage bigj70 re Ped's record needing to be ignored last season - he should not have been brought in at that time if it was inevitable he couldn't get warbs players to play his way - why would we bring someone in to fail so spectacularly? He is a professional manager and should have done better - G Murty showed him how to play against the untouchables but he ignored it which seems both arrogant and foolish considering what subsequently happened. I am a supporter with over 40 years of experience watching Rangers ; I will always support my team and I pray Ped is a success but it is important that debate and comment are not stifled ; we can all recognise bleating whining knee jerk reactions for what they are; we can all appreciate that time must be given and patience encouraged but none of us can say this is the start we wanted and to acknowledge that is no act of treachery - sticking your head in the and and your a*#e in the air would be, though

21 Jul 2017 20:52:29
BigJ

If you think that last seasons results don't count then your just not in touch with the reality of football management. Which is astonishing seeing as though you say you have been a season ticket holder for 35 years. Any record defeats or shocking displays in cup semi finals against Celtic are always remembered and will always be used against any manager. Throw in the most embarrassing result ever for a Scottish side in Europe and the scrutiny on the manager and his record as manager gets more intense. You can pretend those results didn't happen last year but in the real world they will be used and no matter what you think they do matter

22 Jul 2017 10:58:38
Big j hope you right but have huge doubts in pedro

22 Jul 2017 11:15:57
Jyf. The team that lost so heavily to Celtic and also lost to Aberdeen at Ibrox for the first time in 26 years, was basically the same team that played in the Championship the season before. Had we played Celtic and Aberdeen in each of the cups during that Championship season and lost in the same manner and by the same score, would you have been calling for Warburtons head before he finished the season and got us promoted?
Re your point about Progres game, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

22 Jul 2017 11:39:36
Stevie fyi there is no such thing as a scared tim. They are extinct, cease to be, just like the parrot scetch. We all know now u are no longer the challenge and aberdeen are. Read on these pages and 99 % believe that they just want to close the gap.

22 Jul 2017 12:37:23
Big J you might have had a season ticket for 35 years but you obviously have not been paying attention recently, warbs beat the tims at hampden remember? pedro lost twice in a week with two of the most abysmal performances I have witnessed. HINDSIGHT are you kidding me that was the point of my post, pedro lost heavily twice to them and once to the sheep so the writing was on the wall BEFORE the progress game and it remains on the wall no hindsight needed on my part. I've said it before but you are going to have a good season where I'm expecting to be squirming on my seat week in week out so good luck I really really hope I am wrong.

21 Jul 2017 14:26:57
Can I watch Gers v Marseille anywhere?

I'm in Spain. Is it on Gers tv? Local pub has it.

21 Jul 2017 14:20:23
2 observations from yesterday's training, Dodoo with the senior squad again but doing different work to the rest but more importantly no Rossiter still, either injured again or possibly moving on? The amount of midfielders we have and ones coming in is getting daft so maybe he is. he cost peanuts and Is highly thought of south of the border so it wouldn't surprise me if he's in talks with someone but it's not leaked yet. Anyone know anything?

21 Jul 2017 15:51:41
I noticed that too. I hope Rossiter's just had a wee niggle. can't see us getting anywhere near his valuation until we get at least one full season out of him, I'd be very disappointed to sell him now

21 Jul 2017 12:05:34
well today is a big day so we can actually see what formation we play and see if we are improning or not, I hope we do not make heaps of subsituations we need to get a settled first 11. Prediction Score everyone
3-1 for me that's me been very optomistic.

21 Jul 2017 12:23:15
Now Des getting beat 3-1 isn't overly optimistic is it? ;-)

21 Jul 2017 12:34:18
What makes today a big day?

21 Jul 2017 12:37:56
Well that will probally be the score but i am trying to think we can win as i can't handle losing anymore.

21 Jul 2017 12:44:24
Well parky maybe not for you but Rangers supporters it is we need a win to build confidence in the team

21 Jul 2017 12:47:16

21 Jul 2017 13:20:44

21 Jul 2017 13:57:54
Desrfc. I'm a season ticket holder and shareholder. plus I also know what day of the week it is. A win tomorrow would be good, not sure what you are on about today for.

21 Jul 2017 14:22:36
Today is Friday the 21st though

21 Jul 2017 14:23:45
We won't beat Marseille. plus the game is tomorrow.

21 Jul 2017 17:57:45
Sorry days all mixed up in India working

22 Jul 2017 00:05:09
I'll take that as an apology for insinuating that I am not a Rangers fan Desrfc.

21 Jul 2017 08:18:04
Missed our chance not getting the Aberdeen Manager. Still think he will be the manager by Xmas.

21 Jul 2017 09:28:41
Gees peace

21 Jul 2017 11:50:33
this will def NOT happen, the reason we have Pedro is, that we approached McInnes 3 times and he refused the job, so the board asked ex player Pedro Mendes to find them a manager, hence Pedro, the guy who got this info also said that his informant said Pedro has been sacked 5 times, but also added that he thought the new manager should be given time now that he s here as sometimes you get a club that suits a particular manger and he the club, so let's hope so

21 Jul 2017 13:42:38
Seeing a lot of this, it's all ifs buts and maybes - if he'd come in at the start of the season and things were the same with Europe etc then you'd be calling for his head as well.

Pedro will still be there at xmas, hopefully proving so called 'supporters' wrong - I'll be getting behind the team I've supported all my life and backing the players irrespective of who's at the helm.

A lot of celtic fans here who will be loving the chaos with us bickering and divided, it's the same stuff every day in a slightly different context - we are Rangers, we leave the conspiracies and unsavoury behaviour for those at t towers.

21 Jul 2017 13:44:17
At least we still have 1 player left in europe Hali Hali haliday

21 Jul 2017 14:11:51
Blackness, Caixinha was first choice as manager, McInnes wasn't even spoken to at all about it that's why he was a tad bitter about it recently. Caixinha has only been sacked once, well he actually resigned after having a great season with that same club the season prior.

21 Jul 2017 14:13:14
Well Blackness that has to be the biggest load of Bull on here.

1. McCinnes was never approached by Rangers.

2. Where has Pedro been sack from? Rangers are the 6th team Pedro has managed at all other clubs he was assistant. We had to pay Al-Gharafa compensation so he wasn't sacked there and Santos tried to keep him as manager when he left.

3. The board knew about Pedro from when Warburton came in as he was meant to be assistant to Vitor Pereira but both refused the job as Rangers never won promotion that season.

4. The board concluded there own search for a manager and Mendes was not included in this. They chose Pedro to be manager as he was once ranked the 36th best manager in the world.

Please at least do some research before you spout this rubbish

21 Jul 2017 14:25:56
Sorry for putting this bluntly Blacknessgaffer, but you're talking total, utter mince! From someone very close to Sir walter smith, told me that derek mcinnes thought he had the job but was outvoted by 1 when the casting vote went to douglas park who swayed it pedro caixinha's way! Also and i have this also on very good authority, derek mcinnes would walk over broken glass all the way from sheep land to be the rangers manager, guaranteed! He's never and never would turn down the rangers manager's job!

21 Jul 2017 14:19:24
Ha ha McInnes refused the job? He would gladly have his appendage cut off to manage us!

21 Jul 2017 18:23:21
Supercoopereleven spot on mate Park appointed pedro, Mcinnes would come to Ibrox in a heartbeat.

21 Jul 2017 01:26:51
Tunnicliffe looks useful would give the squad good depth but only if we could move windass and Forrester on.

21 Jul 2017 08:35:45
We need Naismith end of. Proven scorer here in SPL .

21 Jul 2017 11:29:18
Naismith has had his time at Rangers
