Can someone please try and explain to me that at what entry level they would expect Rangers to enter the English Football League pyramid system should it ever be considered. AFC Wimbledon were admitted to The Minor Counties League 10 years ago and they finally gained entry to League Div 2 last year, having gained numerous promotions over the 9 years. This involved playing in the Minor Counties, Ryman and Blue Square Leagues. Surely as supporters no-one could envisage such a long and lengthy campaign. I know this may never occur but it would be interesting to hear other supporters sensible views on this subject.

There has been some pre emptive discussions in entering the championship with I believe some initial positive reaction from clubs in this league. Rangers fan base is a massive draw card, and football is like any other business where there is a potential growth of earnings and profits, why would they not consider such a concept

Agree3 Disagree8

The main problem mate is if Rangers moved to england (and your correct about the path they would have to take) is the size of the club and the running costs. 4-5 seasons before blue square premier, even a staunch support like Rangers wouldn't follow in big numbers through that! Its years in the wilderness, which doesn't do the club and brand any good in the way of growth. Its just too long away from the spotlight. Yes you could say Rangers could start they're own t. v system and flog the games to fans to watch, but the numbers who want to watch that standard will not be enough to sustain it. There is just too many problems with the idea of moving to england. And you can't tell me the clubs of the Northern Premier and Blue Square Premier are just going to let Rangers from Glasgow shimmy past them if they are thinking of a bye into League 2. Its just not going to happen, these clubs don't care who the Rangers are. I don't think it will ever happen. For Rangers or Celtic. I mean people talking about S*y wanting Celtic in the Prem, the prize for the clubs gaining promotion from the Championship get a 60 MILLION windfall! Why the F*ck would they accept Celtic waltzing into the Prem? The same applies for the Championship, why are one of the teams gaining promotion from League 1 to the Championship going to let Celtic nip in front of them and take they're place there?

The whole idea has more holes than a tea bag.

Agree6 Disagree3

See I'm against us in England because with the players we have now & the board we have now in those county leagues we would get lost in the shadows & I just don't think we can afford to play at low level much longer than we already are.

Agree4 Disagree1

The rangers support isn't a draw card to the english they reguard them as mauruding scotts hell bent on violating thier green and plecent land
thats not a pop just a fact and I don't think celtic would be made any more welcome abunch of rowdy jocks comin over the border an taking a slice of thier pie its a complete non starter never be made welcome down there no matter what chuck says he's wasting his time

Agree3 Disagree2

There are many genuine Rangers fans based in England either from work of family links that like our highland fans have to pick and choose which games they can go to. While our home core fans may not get to as many away games if we were to have fixtures in the far flung corners of England I know their numbers would be easily made up by the fans who may finally be given the opportunity to see their team play closer to them this would again have the knock on effect of increasing numbers through them taking friends or family along building the brand awareness as well. It would not be easy quick or simple but then as fans we don't expect it we expect to work for our titles wins and successes (unlike maybe some of our past owners) and at least we may put the small minded parochial attitude of the upper reaches of Scottish football in the past. Though on a final note I have to say the Union bears choice of song won't garner us much of a welcome when they damage the brand. It doesn't take a genius to know there will be comment pieces in the papers in the next few days declaring that Rangers aren't welcome as a knee jerk reaction to the persons singing today.

Agree2 Disagree1

@1 after today's embarrassing and cringeworthy showing from the stands,, I doubt very much that the English teams owners/directors think that the rangers fans would be a great "draw card" as you put it,, do you? Honestly?

Agree3 Disagree2

Yep. Under 45K for winning Div 3 - how does all this add up? 43K for winning the League - a months wages for our older players, and the CEO and his 2 Buddies get 3 Millions each. don't need to be good at sums to see where this is heading.

Believable31 Unbelievable2

It's worse mate. The income from season books and walk ups must have dropped around 30% but the costs will be the same. Mr Green needs to tell the fans the facts of the finances no more "soon to be announced" stuff.

Agree17 Disagree6

The media - print and electronic have continually shied away from asking the obvious questions

Why no progress
no sponsors - shirt or club
no renaming - ibrox or MP
no kit deal

Green talks about revenue streams and capitalising assets

I reckon £3,000,000 in revenue has been lost this season already by the delay
Can he not tie up a deal for any of the above?

So much for financial genius

Agree8 Disagree3

23 Feb 2013 11:22:26
@1 exactly. It still costs the same to open ibrox whether in spl or d3, yet ticket costs are lower. We need answers not pie in the sky stuff

Agree7 Disagree0

@2. yeah he's no financial genius, just a chancer. he got rangers for the cost of 25 average houses, a wee street, and with a loan. paying himself a bonus for winning div 3? he's doing alright but what's he building?

Agree3 Disagree0

How are the costs the same?

Agree0 Disagree1

@5: you can't work it out? Electricity etc. , policing, payment of stewards, catering etc. All cost the same, if not more - as we know, prices go up.

Agree2 Disagree0

@6 I would think @5 thinks all that would be cheaper because they are in div 3!
Maybe he thinks that the club could do what they did last season and just not pay for it! Ah the welfare state has a lot to answer for doesn't it!

Seen someone on here say that we can't hold a grudge against the SFA. And that they did their job. Are u serious? Since when did their job include handing out unlawful transfer embargos, and blackmailing us into accepting clauses before being granted SFA membership? Not to mention the making up of rules as they go along. Juventus got done for match fixing, the mother of all footballing sins, and got moved down a division. We were guilty of nothing yet demoted to the 4th tier. We are being persued for title stripping, despite the big tax case outcome completely blowing that idea out of the water. Our SFA are among the worste footballing bodies in the world. And I truely believe that had it been celtic in our position, it would have been the exact same. Regan and Doncaster didn't have a scooby what to do! I won't be forgiving the SFA anytime soon. I would rather play in the bottom of english football than give them any of our money. They still have our prize mney for finishing second, our money for the transfer of steven davis and are withholding the money they said they would use to pay dundee utd.

Believable16 Unbelievable25

What a load of nonsense. Would you rather the SFA did not give you a membership? Mr Green agreed to all this stuff to ensure there would be a team on the park and a league to play in. The tax case is not "blown out of the water", 30% of the cases were found guilty. The reason the SFA applied sanctions is because as a new club Rangers did not meet the criteria required, three years accounts. You say your prize money for finishing second. Who's money? the money will go into the creditors pot of the oldco, as it's their money.

Agree20 Disagree8

23 Feb 2013 00:21:03
You were not demoted! Why don't you get that?! If this had been say Motherwell, do you think they would have been given the lifelines you have been? Why is it that every other team's supporters can see how they have bent over backwards to keep you actually playing, but rangers fans can't? The big tax case has nothing to do with title stripping. The big tax case was about tax avoidance (which was not all in your favour so get that out of your head, plus it's being appealed). Title stripping is about rangers fielding players who were inelligable due to payments not declared. This is something which has been proven to be true (30% of the big tax case proved players were paid money like a salary but not declared as such-undesclosed payment=inelligable player)

Agree20 Disagree10

What a stupid post. Must agree with the follow up posts even though they sound Celtic orientated. Our own fans need to realise what a serious position we were in, we were lucky to still be allowed to have a team remember a judge said we had committed follies as bad as match fixing. We went into liquidation ( though this could have been avoided if it wasn't for the greed of our present owner who was silly to try and win a CVA with 5.5m. It was never going to happen ). By going into liquidating we had to reapply to join the SFL. The SPL should never have had to vote to allow us back into their league that is the only mistake the SFA made they tried to get us back, even a lot of our fans didn't want this though it may have been for other reasons. I don't know how many times this has to be said stop blaming everybody else and allow others to come on here and accuse us, let's act with dignity and get back to the top where we belong and prove that we are a proud club. A lot of poeple have been very hurt by what's happened over the last year, let's put it behind us and move on. Our club are not innocent victims in all this as are some other clubs but ther are some.
Bobby

Agree16 Disagree4

@2 Several other Scottish clubs out with Rangers have went into liquidation, but funnily enough never received the severe punishments imposed on Rangers Football Club, in fact the severe punishments handed to Rangers have been unsurpassed in any professional world sport for simply entering into administration. If you can find an example of any Professional Club receiving the following punishments for entering into Administration, I will admit I am wrong. Just to refresh your memory, these are just a sample.
Withholding of prize money and gate receipts, Points deduction, Fines, demotion or re-entry refusal to SPL, Blanket signing ban, Inappropriate leverage used to sign over TV rights monies (Blackmail). Four year ban from European competition, Pursuing legal action to strip titles previously won etc. I eagerly await your response and example.

Ozzie Al

Agree8 Disagree18

@1 do you TRULY believe that the sfa will pay the creditors of the old co with our prize money? haha how naive you are. There were NO other teams applied to join the football league in our place but they still resorted to blackmail to get their way. If I were blackmailed and had to pay I would never ever forget.

Agree2 Disagree5

Post (4) sorry to say this but your totally wrong? here the other clubs who have went into liquidation.
Since the demise of Third Lanark in 1967, only three clubs in the Scottish League have been liquidated – Airdrieonians, Gretna and Rangers. In addition to that, the names of Clydebank and Meadowbank Thistle disappeared from the Scottish footballing landscape after being bought out and moved elsewhere.
So I may be wrong but which clubs out of the above didn't suffer the severe punishments? I think you may agree that Gretna, Third Lanark and Airdrieonians (no longer in leagues )is far worse than anything that happened to us.
Its your type of blindness to what actually happened to our club that will eventually be our downfall again. If we the support don't start to accept what happened and just get on with it and get back to the top of Scottish Football, then people like Green etc will again lead us by the nose, blaming the world for our ills as they line their pockets with our money before waking away.
Please accept and think more of the futur than the past.

Agree10 Disagree0

@Ozzie Al# 1; Withholding of prize money and gate receipts were because the club had outstanding football related debts and it was the SFA's duty to ensure these were paid.
2; Points deduction was not a punishment, it was a consequence clearly laid out in the rules
3; Signing ban and fines were levied because the SFA allowed the new club to get the old clubs membership overlooking clubs who had the proper paperwork, three years audited accounts.
4;The club is not BANNED from Europe, it does not have the three years accounts required by UEFA, nothing to do with the SFA
5;Stripping titles. This is a consequence of using non declared contractual payments to players. For every game this would result in a 3-0 loss. Again this is in the rules.
6; Regarding the TV deal you might be correct, I thought this was the deal to gain acceptance to the SFL, again you expect to just walk in?. Have a look at the poster above Bobby, consistently posts sensible views and behaves like a true fan.

Not a rumour as such but who would like to see Kevin Thomson back in a Rangers shirt?2 In my opinion he is the kind of player we should be looking to bring in and I think Ally should take a gamble on him. I know his injuries are/were a problem but he gave his all for us and what more can a fan ask for?!? Players have to move on sometimes, even from a Club they love, with Kevin, he tried his luck in England, and again in my opinion, quite rightly so. Now as a free agent, I believe he would be a tremendous addition to our vastly improving squad.

Believable11 Unbelievable24

He is never fit, and actually never really does anything on the pitch except go sideways. Not for me, would rather have a promising twenty year old.

Agree10 Disagree1

Are you his agent? Far too injury prone for the rigours of the third/second division up here. Be good company for Kyle on the treatment table!

Agree11 Disagree1

Currently training with Hibs but far too injury prone.

Agree5 Disagree0

Hardly ever fit and prone to stupid tackles. Last thing we need is another passenger picking up wages while contributing next to nothing

We are about ten weeks away from the end of the current season and yet nobody knows what the whole setup of scottish football and the structure of the leagues will be for certain.
What we have is a proposal which includes cash concessions (bribes) to teams outwith the spl to vote for the proposed setup
what a total fn shambles and a typical example of how the scottish football authorities run our game
Should our esteemed journalists and bloggers not be writing about that rather than where wales will be training and wild rumours of winding up orders (where has that one gone)

JG

Believable20 Unbelievable17

Bribes? Such a strong word. Was it a bribe Mr Green offered when telling a lower league club chairman he would buy 3000 season tickets for his club in order to gain his support? I don't recall that being written about either do you?

Agree17 Disagree9

You can cherry pick topics all you want but no one will ever know the full extent to the conversations that was made between all parties both sides will have said things they don't want made public

Agree3 Disagree1

The league reconstruction is a disaster waiting to happen. The Swiss FA have sent a correspondance to the SFA telling them of the pitfalls of this new structure. They used it and it failed the country misserably.

Agree1 Disagree2

Spl is trying to force a stupid setup and it is a bribe they must think the the sfl are stupid

Agree1 Disagree7

Would you all be saying it was so stupid if Rangers were still in the SPL?

Agree7 Disagree1

@5 No we wouldn' t as if Rangers were still in the SPL there would be no need for a restructure. As I have pointed out before the restructure is to cover for the losses from Rangers non participation. Last year they had our money from finishing second and other money they blackmailed out of our club. next year they will not have this to keep some clubs afloat, hence the need for change. not the answer you were perhaps looking for but FACT.

Agree2 Disagree10

Its hardly a shambles - rangers need to be provided a fixture list around start of july and then get on with playing. it won't matter what the structure is.

Agree3 Disagree0

@6: change has been on the agenda for years, though, has it not.

And you do know what it generally means when a post ends in the word 'fact' in capital letters?
