Pompey could be bust in 6 weeks. Time to get us in there! If only it was possible our worries would forever be over!

Laughable.the only word for that..........green jhedi

Get us to portsmouth, nah was based there for a while and it was total craig whyte... craig+babybear p.s i think u might find we cant just jump down to the english league p.p.s because we r a scottish team

Agree1 Disagree0

Actually they could buy Portsmouth and change their name to Rangers and play at Ibrox. It wont happen but it would be legal.

I can't believe fans want to pay at gate to stop ticketus getting there money! This is a business that bought those tickets in good faith and are used by clubs throughout Britain so deserve their money back. It was not paying our way that got the club into this mess.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

Regardless of paying at the gate, rangers still owe that money to ticketus, they don't care how rangers get it

taco

Agree10 Disagree1

If Vague Whyte has this liability then let him wear it

He's probably trousered more than that from us

BFH

Agree0 Disagree0

Only difference would be they might put a charge on having to handle money, so would end up costing more... im keeping my season ticket no matter what craig+babybear

Agree0 Disagree0

No ticketus gave money to Whyte not Rangers, so why should Rangers be liable?

Any woodworms about tonight? Come out of the woodwork -to appear suddenly and unexpectedly.
Usage notes: usually said about someone who was not invited or wanted.
Etymology: based on the idea of insects that suddenly come out from under boards in a place where they have been hidden for long spells.

I love the way the Celtic fans have got miles ahead of themselves by winning the treble and competing in Europe already. By doing so they have shown major disrespect to every team in the SPL.
Can't wait to see you slip up at some point we will all be waiting and ready to laugh at the green bottle crashers.

Tired bear

Believable5 Unbelievable9

"they have shown major disrespect to every team in the SPL"...LOL HAHAAHAH, thats a good one! i mean it is a joke right? cause you rankers have not paid other teams in spl the money they are owed as well you have put the spl and Scottish football in a bad light, so wake up and realize how bad/corrupt your club is. The sooner rankers leave the better for the spl, for you have only brought shame and disrespect to it. The only good thing has been the old firm game but your selfish club has put that in trouble. But hey maybe now motherwell can take your place,and well every other team for that matter since you will be fighting for bottom 6 if you stay, now that you have to work like a normal and properly run club.

Wake up and just admite it that your club are cheats and cant run a football club not just to make Celtic fans happy but to show that you fans wont stand for it and maybe just for once you can stand up for what is right and your club can start to change and shed its bad light/shame that it has been carrying with them for so long.

Agree5 Disagree3

Sorry what have I to admit? I never mentioned my club once in my post. The senior authorities at Rangers may have shafted the Taxman but it's no where near as shameful as what went on in Celtics past...

Nothing can take away our recent domination of Scotland and whatever happens we will come back stronger than ever so enjoy it while you can sunshine.

Tired bear

Agree1 Disagree3

Both of the Old Firm have shamed Scotland in a variety of ways but the situation with Rangers at the moment is embarrassing.

Agree1 Disagree1

Whatever happens, you will come back stronger than ever? Not if liquidation happens, mate.

Agree0 Disagree1

The club can be liquidated true but the fans will always be here. Rangers are too well supported to go down the tubes ''mate''.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2012 22:51:23
Have been sitting back and trying to talk it all in, but Im sure there are Rangers people out their taking stock of what is going on and waiting to show their hand. We will not go to the wall no matter what the shisters in green say. Keep the faith and we will all come through this by standing together.

Believable3 Unbelievable5

23 Feb 2012 22:51:05
i have spoken to a number of people today who say that we will almost certainly go into liquidation. apparantly there is more revelations to come which will leave the club with no option but to fold.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

Story running in the herald tomorrow that rangers never paid the police for saturdays game,good job the next game is away from home.

Agree6 Disagree1

It wouldn't surprise anyone regarding the non payment to police, but i believe clubs have 30 days in which to pay for policing costs

We don't do walking away.

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Well done m8 i done 400 wrtp

Agree2 Disagree4

Wow! Why didn't you take up murrays two share issues a few years back and you might not be in this mess and Murray would still be backing you? Instead of waiting till your clubs at deaths door before 'pledging' some money.

Yaaaay! we've raised 20million, lets buy rangers!

out of administration woohoo!

knock knock.....who's there?.....HMRC, you owe us another 80million!

back in administration boohoo!

shut!

taco

Agree14 Disagree1

Craig whyte is nothing to do with it. We will be supporting the blue knights! Even if we liquidize, we will be back debt free and rich! Owned by the fans is the way forward

Agree0 Disagree0

You have'nt pledged anything , it's an opinion poll , it is only a pledge once you give them your bank details.

Agree0 Disagree0

Taco you obviously dont get it do you? Rangers will pay back something like 10p in the pound to their creditors. So say they owe £15 million PAYE + VAT, £75m big tax case and approx £10m to others. So roughly £100m, they will only pay out £10 and probably not anywhere near that.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2012 22:01:07
Ed how much tax is paid on any money that is pledged by the fans? If its 40%or 50% don't you think that hmrc will be laughing up their sleeve? {Ed001's Note - it would depend on how it was presented in the accounts, I am not able to give a definitive answer on that sorry, I am no accountant, I struggle enough doing my own! It was also depend on how it was used, money collect and then spent would be taxed on the purchase, rather than on the collection, I think.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was thinking about this, coz im sad, I can't see how ut could be taxed as a receipt in the hands of rangers, I think for tax purposes it will be matched to an expense so if it is used to pay a tax bill then there is no problem as tax is not a deductible expense. If it was used to pay for travel to matches then the expense would not be allowed. So all in all no tax.
Just as a thought though, with the correct paye and vat references the supporters could phone up and make hmrc payments, im sure other creditors would release details of how to make payments to them too. Why not pay direct then there doesn't have to be any trust in the middlemen right now.
Nevis

Agree3 Disagree2

Cheers ed

Agree0 Disagree0

There is a really easy way round the donations tax liabilities,any accountant will tell you how.surely there must be one accountant in the supporters trust.........green jhedi

Agree1 Disagree2

The amount taxed will be set at 20% and the only way that the tax can be waiverd is by permission from believe it or not HMRC like they do for thing such as sport relief children in need and charity songs
so any amount taken will be subject to 20% tax deduction and paid to HMRC

Agree4 Disagree0

Green jhedi after weeks of pay your tax, tax dodgers etc you're suggesting a really easy way around tax liabilities!

Yes there is one coming out for next season, it's basically a rab c number this is to save on material....... You know cut backs and all

Agree2 Disagree0

New top lol

Agree3 Disagree0

Yees coodnae aford jellyp15hes name own the bac oh his shurt en yer own aboot new strips ffs

Agree1 Disagree0

The club doesn't see as much of the money from shirt sales as you would think. I'm sure Ed001 would back this up as he regularly has to tell fans of English clubs that breaking into the Asian market will not bring huge amounts of cash through shirt sales.

Adi Dassler {Ed001's Note - unfortunately it doesn't bring much at all, it takes years to build up a return, it is more about establishing a fan base, which in turn increases merchandise sales (ie scarves etc) which becomes noticed and leads to improved TV deals with that area. Though the future is in internet rights, the big clubs are looking at making individual deals to stream their games online through subscription sites. That should dwarf the current TV revenue.}

in a few years time we will look back and realise that going into administration was really necessary and probably the best thing as we were going nowhere really fast,Iknow we won the league the last 3 years but that was against really poor teams,in Europe we were getting beat by teams that we would have easily beaten in the 60s and 70s,with some proper investment and good management we can be a force in world football again so have patience fellow bears good times are just around the corner so let the manky mob have their wee bit of fun in between licking their windows

Believable4 Unbelievable5

I heard from a reputable source that McDonalds are considering to offer money for Ibrox.
They do not plan to alter any part of the building as it's listed but are willing to put a Mc Donalds express there.
They will pay Rangers a one of fee of 20 million for the space they require and own that particular part of the building.
The recon match days will be a sell out on food and will be a profitable business acquisition.
They are even making a new Mac Rangers Burger if allowed to complete the purchase.
Personally I would go for a mac chickened out the championship burger.
I would also go for a Her Majesty's Royal Chicken burger or a HMRC for short.

Believable4 Unbelievable3

There's a macdonalds two minutes from ibrox that already makes a fortune for free on match days so I doubt that very much. PaulRFC

Agree3 Disagree3

HMRC=how many recent championships. Three to nil at the last count. And a world record 54.

Rangers will not come out of administration until we hear the result from the tax man what we have to pay them. Until then no one will try and purchase us. No one will buy us then end up getting a massive tax bill. The HMRC case will not be finished until April. So it will be no Europe for the mighty Gers next season. No one in there right mind will touch us until all the mess is uncovered.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

No one really knows what's happening , it will play out in time who all the main players in all this have been, we just watch from the sidelines and wait . There's nothing else the ordinary fan can do about it, we don't move in these circles, time will tell all we can do is not turn our backs and get on the players backs, remember we may have a few of the young team havin to step up, don't kill the boys confidences by giving stick, it will get uncomfortable but nothing else for it Alex McI

Isn't it annoying how people keep saying Rangers did wrong to get into such a mess? No, we didn't. The real Rangers are the fans and team. These f*cktards who make dodgy financial deals using our name are not part of Rangers no matter how many shares they own!! We must be fan owned or at least partly fan owned after this sh*te is over! And, David Murray and his cohorts should be taken apart for their disastrous mismanagement of our club.

Ed.if new allegations of £15 million are to believed accumulated over the 9months Craig Whytes been at the club this equates to £20million over the year.according to Whytes statment it takes £45 million to break even to run our club seems quite high for tax and vat payments.Nearly 50% off all income.something not just right with the figures been banded about.Murray you have a lot to answer for and you Mr Whyte gtf. {Ed001's Note - did the Sky TV money get paid before the takeover? What about SPL prize money? Other than that, I don't see what extra revenue the club could have brought in to make the figures any better. I don't understand how so much could have been lost in such a short time, unless all the income was going to his other companies!}

Yes, there are two that front the operation, but 5 support staff walked out behind them from Ibrox the other day, then there will be accountants, solicitors etc. to pay. {Ed001's Note - the company charges a fee, then it pays the wages of the staff out of it, it doesn't matter how many support staff etc there are.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Ed - I did not mean that Rangers pay each of the individuals. You are correct that the company will charge a fee. The point I was making was that the more people the administrators have involved in the case, the higher the fee is that they will charge. {Ed001's Note - not always true, usually the fee is agreed in advance and they just have to cover staff costs themselves.}

They will want the names and addresses of the three judges to send the private investigaters in ,it will be a British government cover up, they will probably want to stop paying taxes in protest ,that's the few that actually pay them. Hell have no fury like a Timothy scorned. It will be brilliant

Rangers biggest worry is whether they will still be around when the decision is made. You are running out of money and no real money coming in. The moment you start trading insolvently the administrators, by law, must put Rangers into liquidation.

Strathclyde Police confirmed on Thursday they have received a information from administrators Duff and Phelps. stv.tv

looks like all the concerns that whyte was getting his own guys in to help him have been blown out of the water.

Rangers over the last few days strange things happening £250 000 deposited into banstead afc day before administration ,reported on every media outlet, why? Rangers sell there arsenal shares a piece of our history, why?
Whyte getting ready to take money and run as reported in all media outlets why?
Only connection that makes sense
rangers now have a majority in a English football club benstead afc, football association have a rule that no club can have shares in two clubs see fa constitution rangers now only have shares in one club that's why arsenal shares were sold to enable to join the English pyramid system before this is ridiculed think about it both actions widely reported and admitted by rangers .whyte has done what he was put in for to take the flak he will now slip away by his own admission yesterday. Then new investors come in .makes sense. Think the end game is rangers move benstead afc up to ibrox and hey presto in the English pyramid system .that's why the arsenal shares were sold. And my team is Celtic by the way

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Whether your team is Celtic or Rangers it doesn't matter, you're a bl00dy fruitcake.

Away now back to your padded cell for the night.

Agree3 Disagree2

I think we still have 14 shares so that kind of dampens your theory...an if we do have 14 shares in arsenal an they are worth their most in years maybe ever then they have to be looked at to possibly save people's jobs (for a while atleast). PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - I am trying to find the original reports on the shares, it was only reported from an Arsenal perspective initially until it came to light where Usmanov had obtained the shares from. The one thing that is definite is that Usmanov was offered the shares prior to Whyte's buyout of the club, or he asked for them prior, and the nucleus of the deal was in place back then. Whyte merely signed off on it.}

Agree0 Disagree2

Cheers ed so it was probably arranged by Murray but whytes an easy target... The media should be ripping Murray to bits in my opinion, whyte might of done what he's done but he was given his free pass by "sir" David PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - I find it strange because all the reports do agree that it was the old board that suggested it to Whyte when he came in. But Murray is very well liked by the media, he looked after them, so they are loath to stick the knife in. Whereas Whyte is a venture capitalist, he has spent his life preying on the weak and sick companies to make a profit. No one minds sticking the knife into him, he is a very easy target, deservedly so to be fair, but he has done nothing that is not normal for people in his line of work. Murray must have known what he would do when he sold him the company, I really struggle to understand why he agreed to sell to him.}

Agree1 Disagree0

1/4 million did go to benstead afc ..you cannot hold shares in another English club all this in public domain as fact. Mr whyte does not do things for no reason so why invest money in that club. Poster has only stated a theory and it seems logical. Don't think it will happen but would not surprise me. Think you timoths are starting to realise something you will not like may well happen.all you will have is a devalued league title and we will be back facing you lot stronger anddebt free with big backers next season to continue our domination of Scottish football .btw all the real tax experts in the financial domain expect rangers to win the big tax case

This may have been mentioned before and I've missed it.

Iam Legend {Ed001's Note - there must have been some clauses relating to it in the deal, otherwise why is Murray's legal team dealing with it rather than the club itself? Something must have been agreed.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ed - Murray's legal team will be dealing with it as it was also operated by MIH, so they will be dealing with the so called "big picture", as it effects both parties. Rangers are probably being invoiced for legal fees on a pro rata basis.

What is certain about the contract is that Whyte agreed that Rangers took liability in the event Rangers lost the tax case.

Such high powered individuals would very rarely come together in such a collaboration. People like this do come together on more straight forward or shorter term ventures.

I think the Rangers administration could not of come at a better time for Mcoist,
It has totaly taken the heat off him, out of 4 cups at early stages, even without the ten point reduction to be 15 points ahead to 7 points behind is unforgivable. Super ally is a legend there is no mistake about that but sadly i think he is not manager class.

Believable13 Unbelievable4

Difficult to manage a team that has a small squad when your best player is out for the season, your best striker is sold and your other striker is injured. Europe was disappointing although Whittaker and Bougherra should take the blame for that, we were dominating Malmo and one up then went down to nine men. Although when everyone was fit our league form was great so unfair to judge McCoist.

Some of you all talk about "looking out for your children first", well i have 2 children and independence will give them opportunities well beyond what London ever will. The list of pro's is ridiculous. The very first pro is that we will not become a major target for terrorism, we wont be fueling wars where we help kill millions of innocent people around the globe and we wont have any bloody nuclear weapons.

Thinking about your children? I laugh at those who think about their children through their "imagination", when if they truly thought about their children they'd run away from Westminster and NEVER look back.

Do you remember the attack at Glasgow Airport, would we have an intelligence service, an army? We would be sitting ducks. Another point for you, Scotland would have one of the highest welfare bills in the world, high unemployment, obesity, smoking, drugs, alcohol. Welfare dependency would be the future.

Agree0 Disagree1

Simple question for pro-independence people; what currency would we use?

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree0

We'll all vote for independance ha ha , nobody believes anything that you lot say , David Cameron knows all you sheep will tow the Lodge line and vote for the Conservative and Unionist party , so i dont think he's gonnae buy that one lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Govan FR oil as a commodity will only rise in price as it runs out, oil company's tend to underestimate their reserves, but being conservative in their estimates they place it at 1.2 trillion pounds worth, as for a legal challenge if Scotland votes for independence, international law which supercedes Scottish or uk law will state that up to 93% of the fields are in Scottish maritime boundaries . The sea borders were changed in the late 90s transferring 6000 sq miles of Scottish sea to uk control even if you left this as it is now it would only transfer auk and argyll oilfields to uk government, these are small oilfields and are on decline. Although it is widely known that upon voting for independence maritime boundries will revert to pre 1999.

Currency we would retain the pound sterling, which we have as much right to as the rest of uk, you forget that Scotland would own 8.4% of bank of England as it is a uk asset so 8.4% of its reserves would be ours. Sterling which takes it name from Stirling castle which used to be used for weights measurement for grain etc pound Stirling. It's a fully tradeable currency, if and when the time is right the sovereign scottish people would be given a referendum on joining the euro.

The army would become a Scottish defence force much in line with Norway and be around about 25000 personnel , remember we are not attacking anyone so it will be to patrol our shores and protect oil installations, and lend a hand to humanitarian causes where possible. Again we own 8.4% of uk armed forces assets so infra structure already in place, this goes for all uk assets except fixed assets outside Scotland.

As for large companies not trading in Scotland, if you read (McCrone report on oil) it states that Scotland would be able to slash corporation tax so much people would be fighting each other to invest in scotland, it says that we would have an embarrassing surplus and have a currency only beaten by the Norwegian kroner, and be a safe bet for investing in like the Swiss franc. (check out Niall aspens GERS 2006 the great obsification to see the revenue that Scotland generates. And GERS stands for government expenditure receipts Scotland.

As for credit rating that would have to be seen but as we would mirror the bank of England's rates, remember it would not be in the interests of the bank of England to fail its a private company and would be crying out for Scotland's business remember our resources are phenomenal if developed in the right way lets leave a real legacy for our kids, there's loads of this info out there If you want to find it, hope this helps mate. And by the way I'm just a joiner who is rangers through and through, my name is on the John Grieg statue half way down the big list, named after my dads brother, have a research and make you own mind up Alex mci {Ed001's Note - erm, I hate to burst your bubble, but the talk about 'oil running out' is a complete fallacy! You know the Germans developed synthetic oil during World War 2 that can be produced? Also that crops such as rapeseed can be used to produce petrol and diesel? That is why so much of England is covered in fields of rapeseed, the govt started giving farmers a grant to grow it during the fuel crisis in the 70s. The grants still exist and the crops could still be used to produce petrol and diesel.}

Agree2 Disagree0

GovanFR we could use beer tokens.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will use the pound and they cant stop us, the pound is an international currency

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes Ed I know that you can run a diesel car on vegetable oil strait from tesco, also who knows how much oil is left out there, as we get better finding and extracting it, your also correct in that loads of engines run nowadays using fully synthetic oil, it doesn't change the fact that it is only getting scarcer the more we extract it, and the price of it is always going to inflate , don't see petrol and diesel prices getting slashed, and the carry on in Iran will drive it even higher, so I don't see your point about synthetics and such, while there's still oil out there we will spend billions trying to extract it, it is a brilliant asset to have don't you agree

Alex McI {Ed001's Note - no, you are not reading what I said, you can distil proper diesel and petrol from rapeseed, not that you can run a car on veg oil. Two totally different things and you are missing the point completely. Oil is not going to run out, despite the media lies to make the rich oil barons even richer. It can be GROWN, it is not scarce nor is it getting scarcer, it is a fallacy! Even Top Gear did a couple of shows featuring the growing of oil (diesel in that case) and then running vehicles on it. Yet no one seems to have noticed because we are constantly fed lies about its scarcity and how it is running out. Scottish natural gas and oil is a great resource, but of far more long term value is the fact that Scotland has the arable land to grow more and produce their own for the forseeable future.}

Agree0 Disagree0

If we use the pound then Westminster set our interest rates FACT.

GovanFR

Agree1 Disagree1

Do you honestly not see the flaw in Scotland as an independent country. Firstly, have you ever heard of democratic deficit. I see a massive flaw in a country like Scotland where we would alternate between nationalist left wing government and Labour (left wing government). You say we could cut corporation tax but where will we find the money to do this, our welfare bill will be massive, probably one of the largest per head in the world. Smoking, obesity, alcohol, drugs are all serious problems in Scotland. Welfare is just one place where we would have serious problems. Another point have you ever noticed how weak our politicians are; Gray, McConnel, Goldie would you really want these people running this country. Currency, we would be subject to Westminster interest rates and the euro won't be around much longer and even if it survives surely you have noticed that a single country doesn't work. Whilst on Europe, we would not be guaranteed EU entry. The credit rating is a serious issue as well we would not have a triple A. If it would work why are all political parties, bar one against it. No Scotland would make it easier for the Tories to win in Westminster and if Scotland was an independent country then the SNP would be a pointless party so Labour would forever govern us.

GovanFR

Agree0 Disagree0

Right ED I see what you mean, I don't know enough about the production costs involved in biofuels and synthetic oils, all I can say is that 5 litres of synthetic car oil is much dearer than mineral oil, but that would fit with the facts you stated About the oil conglomerates and serious under investment in the bio fuel or alternative fuels shall we say, due to the fact it makes powerful people shed loads of cash and the power it brings, also no idea how much fuel you produce per acre , the environmentalist would go mad if we took over loads of the country for producing fuel, but I agree that it should not be ignored, also the likes of hydrogen could run cars, they say it's cost prohibitive to produce but again could be bulls**t mate. Who knows half the stuff hidden from us by governments and big business. {Ed001's Note - if Scotland were to become independent, they could invest heavily in those areas and give the country something to hold onto for when oil and gas in the North Sea ran out.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We already have a democratic deficit in Scotland Govan FR, at a general election it makes little difference how we vote, we have 55 Mps and the last two elections before we got the Tory libs when labour won it was by more than 55 seats so it didn't really matter the way we voted England decide who they want and we get that. If independence is voted for in Scotland there would be a shift in Scottish politics. As you state the whole reason for the SNP existing is as a vehicle to independence, there success will be the end of there party as it is just now, there would be new political parties forming and in my opinion giving better balance between right and left, there can be no doubt it will change, again I think it's about choices. I know I support free healthcare and education, if my wee ones are brainy enough to do a degree or that I don't want to have to mortgage the house to be able to send her, I don't want to have to pay for insurance to get treatment for my health again can't afford it, I just think that is what we get taxed for, but wouldn't say I'm pure left wing, I'm not right wing either I just try to see stuff logically and make up my own mind, like why are the emergency services paying vat on fuel, that's mental spend money collecting that tax and it's us that get taxed for it anyway, so sort it make all emergency services run on red or government buy it without tax for them all army as well that's got to be cheaper, on the other hand the likes of Abu quatada and that I would loup them out a plane with a parachute at 20000 ft just my opinions mate thought I would share them here, would never dream of telling anyone this is how it is, we're scots and we have the internet, we can make up our own minds Alex McI

Agree0 Disagree0

You would like to think so Ed, I would expect it to be a massive part of our energy policy, also remember being told by a very clever old man who has passed that the next world war could well be about water apparently only 1% of water on the earth is drinkable and some frozen at the north and south poles you can see it in the south of England with hosepipe bans. Probably why all the parties in Westminster all want to privatise it up here if they get this Scotland bill approved, won't happen though SNP will not wear it they are trying to grab back planning powers and Scottish water, it's a Trojan horse. But I think it's something we all need to talk about, it's a monumental decision and we need to be sure it's good for our futures. {Ed001's Note - I don't agree on the water thing, it would be very easy, though not cheap, to build desalination plants.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed you are better informed than me on the desalination plants, fortunately in Scotland water is not a problem. But as water is not distributed equally around the world, and not the easiest thing to transport in meaningful quantity it stands to reason that if the technology is there for it it should be researched and developed, for use when needed, lots of technology will never see the light of day because it's profitable to someone that it doesn't . {Ed001's Note - I worked in Dubai for a time and they were able to freely provide water there due to the desalination plants. Always amazed me how hot the cold water could be at times though, unless the company sprung for a posh hotel. I used to buy bottled water to use to brush my teeth rather than risk burning my tongue on the tap water! To be honest, water is easily shipped and stored, well liquid to use to hydrate yourself anyway. Otherwise Coca-Cola and the like would struggle.}

ed(or anybody else for that matter) can u tell me what these arsenal shares are that whyte has sold? thanks
Ian RTID {Ed001's Note - I am a little confused about this, there are two lots of shares held by Rangers. Two shares were bought in 1910, by Rangers, to assist what was then Woolwich Arsenal. As a thank you Arsenal gifted Rangers a further 14 shares in the 1930s. If he has just sold the 2 bought, which is what the story is saying, are there still 14 held by Rangers? If so, is this as bad a story as it is being made out?}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If what you says true ed then no it ain't as bad as has been made out... Typical daily record trying to make it sound worse to boot us while we are down. PaulRFC {Ed001's Note - I can only find reports of 2 being bought, but I can't find out if Rangers had sold or otherwise disposed of the other 14 in the years following their gifting to the club. If it is the only 2 they have, then it is a disgrace, but if they still have the 14 others, then it is probably a very sensible business decision IF the club received the money. After all they are at probably the highest valuation they are likely to reach.}

Agree0 Disagree0

All 16 have been sold.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yeah I'll re-phrase before I start getting shot at ..., IF it's only two sold for a good price an WE STILL have the 14 gifted to us THEN IMO its not as bad as I PERSONALY thought. PaulRFC

Agree0 Disagree0

The way I read it was that all 16 had been sold. Apparently the previous director of finance had checked with the Rangers Historian about these back in 2007 as they were worth £100,000 at that point, however when they heard they story behind them they left them alone, unlike a certain Mr Whyte and his cronies {Ed001's Note - the only things I have any trust in have only talked about Usmanov buying 2 shares for a record price of £230k. If it is all 16, then I would be shocked as they were worth a lot more and I am sure they would know that.}

Agree0 Disagree0

The Rangers’ April 2011 Financial Report (prepared on 18 May for Whyte just after the takeover) advised Whyte that at that time the value of the Arsenal shares were £188k.

Reports of a sale at £230k several months later would seem in line with this.

Agree0 Disagree0

16 shares were sold in December 2011 for £230k and there was a seperate transaction for the sale of 16 shares in January 2012 for £230k (source: James Traynor on BBC2 Newsnight).

£230k would therefore appear to be what 16 shares are worth. {Ed001's Note - considering the latest sales of shares were reported by Arsenal sources as a record price ever paid, it would seem 230k is doubtful for 16 shares. But the Arsenal end could have been misled, Usmanov is as slippery as Whyte.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Can it get any worse ?

Agree0 Disagree0

16 shares have been sold at a price of £230k. This £230k has been paid into the account of one of Whyte's companies, Pritchard Stockbrokers. No money from this sale has been paid to Rangers.

Separate to this, Pritchard Stockbrokers have had their assets frozen by the Financial Services Authority for using client money to cover their costs.

Just a thought - While i agree that some of the singing at Ibrox was totally unacceptable at the weekend ( I was there and though here we go again when it started ), and i'm not going to defend it at all, however it would be nice to see the SPL take a more balanced view as there were clearly unacceptable songs being sung at Tynecastle a couple of weeks ago by both sets of fans when Celtic were playing Hearts but there's been no invesigation around this. Like i say its unacceptable and undefendable but in some ways it seems easier to kick us when we're down than look at other teams supporters too. And while i'm talking of other teams supporters I'm sickened by some of the chants from the Aberdeen fans when they come to Ibrox but nothing's ever mentioned about that either.

why did david minty not sell to crooky king in the first place,makes you wonder,w,w,t,p,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Crooky King could not raise the £18m to pay off Lloyds. King and Murray proposed that they pay this off over a period of time.

What now makes anyone think that King would invest money when he was unable to do so before and now the situation is far worse.

In any event, King has been found guily by a South African Court of tax evasion - just the sort of man Rangers need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong to above he never sold because king and co wanted murray to take the big tax case with him , so ur wrong considering king ploughed 20 mil a while back 18 mil for the club is a bargain.... whyte took the tax case that is why he got control... craig+babybear

So, if the first payment has gone missing, then questions do need to be asked. The problem is that, as owner, he can take money out of the club, up until it went into admin. Ridsdale, and the rest of the board, gave himself a huge payout, just before Bradford went into admin. While it was disgusting and immoral, it was not illegal unfortunately.}

Rangers running out of cash.

There is only one home game within the next calendar month. With around 10,000 season tickets on sale the income from the gate will be only citca £250k. The catering is already franchised out, so no income from there. Very little other income available.

Whyte had stated operating costs are £3.75m a month, and this is backed up by previous seasons audited accounts.

If Rangers do not get any cash in then they will be trading insolvently and the administrators will have no option under their legal duty but to put the club into liquidation.

Johnston can demand all the enquiries and challenges to Whyte's takeover that he wants, but these will be legally challenged by Whyte, and will take months to resolve, so are completely irrelevant to Rangers survival.

It very much looks like the club will be liquidated within the next 2 - 4 weeks.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

When's your legends game?Can't there be people with buckets at the gates collecting to keep club going through this period?

Aye and look how good whytes lawyers are , im sure if there is enough evidence against whyte he will get hammered and i also think sfa etc will look to hammer him and not rangers because we do need rangers no matter what some deluded people say. he can get removed legally and hopefully will.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Feb 2012 10:14:13
Never been a fan of liquidation but if it does happen Rangers should Refuse to apply for transfer of member ship to SPL and start from 3rd Division

Transfer of membership would lead to handicap start to league (- pts for as many seasons as SFA saw fit loss of percentage of TV rights)

Start in 3rd ask small teams if they want to switch their home games to IBROX to increase revenue be back where we belong in very likely 3 years with solid financial footing and the added bonus of knowing with the sky deal dead that the rest of SPL would be in decline and easy pickings

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Ridiculous post.

Agree1 Disagree2

Ask teams to play at ibrokes, you arrogant fool, they all have their own stadiums, queens park own hampden should they move to ibrokes, how can peterbrough make the trip every week. how would spl be easy pickings if you have quarter full sradium and celtic, motherwell, hearts have european football. {Ed001's Note - I think you are missing the point, he meant home games against Rangers, so that they could get an increased revenue not limited by the size of their own ground. I am not sure SFL rules would allow that to happen anyway.}

Agree0 Disagree0

MY thats a dastardly plan LOL and you think Rangers can go into the third division and play every game at home, and the SPL will decline in thier absence then you return and DOMINATE ! get a grip man !

What would be the situation of we win the tax case? No bank debt, no big tax case debt and from what I gather we'd have the wee tax case (£4m) and the recent inpaid tax of (9m) that's £13m overall debt.

I'd happily sell a few assets eg Mcgregor, Whittaker, Davis to pay that off then leave us debt free. We'd then have 3 years without the full season ticket income so we'd have to operate without full income.

Also the JJB deal runs out in 4 years time so we'd have our merchandising rights back after that. Kit deal is up for renewal next year as well so could bring in someone like Adidas which would increase shirt sales.

If we could come out of admin operating on an even keel (spending what we generate) then I think we could be in a strong position. We'd have to operate a policy of nurturing talent and have a wage cap similar to Blackpool but what I'm trying to say is it's not all doom and gloom. Just have to wait and see what happens with the tax case tbh.

We don't do walking away.

Surely if its now proven that Craig Shyte used Rangers future income to fund his takeover then his Creditor status should be removed?
So I can go into any business offer to clear the debt, become owner then reveal actually the debt is not cleared just moved from £18m to Llyods TSB to £24 to another organisation (ticketus) and the company is still responsible for paying it and NOT the owner??
On another note when is a decision on big tax case likely?
I thought it was meant to be end of Feb to start of March but have heard posters on here stating April I wandered if you could clarify Ed?

Rangers Will NOT Die!!
theglasgowranger {Ed001's Note - no one knows when the decision will be given, that is why it is so vague, all people can do is give a best guess based on similar cases. Morning ed more bad news in the rags today Whyte had made a right cock up of things again when is it going to stop can the admiinistrators not get a court order for Whyte lawyers to get our money . Why do we not take away tickets then we would not have to spend money we don't have . Back to Whyte a think alister Johnstone is right to challenge Whyte it's lie after lie with this guy from day 1 their is not a hope in hell that he would be able to come back to ibrox he would be lynched .... Kenny the prod {Ed001's Note - they can get court orders, if necessary, for certain things, but it takes time and that gives time for the money to be hidden even better!}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Tha dministrators are raking up their fees at about £350k a month. Legal fees to challenge Whyte will be similar. That means less cash. Less cash means closer to liquidation.

Ed001; i think in a case like this the admin team will be informed by a hand delivered letter {Ed001's Note - yes but is it also not true that they are obliged to say nothing until the announcement is made? I am sure they will be just waiting with the texts typed up ready to send etc.}
