I think Jack will be a great player for the gers. Seen him a few times now and I have been impressed. Rossiter looks good. But considering how long he has been with us and the amount of times he has played I'm not holding my breath for him being a regular.
Potential wise could be great.

23 Jul 2017 20:57:56
He's going to be the unsung hero of the team deffo. He'll do all the donkey work and the others will get the credit

24 Jul 2017 11:12:59
I hope he does get credit, i think the importance of a good holding midfielder can't be understated. Can have all the attacking talent in the world but if you can't defend or win the ball back you are going to struggle. Loom at rral madrid after they sold makelele and flavio conceciao. They were getting cuffed 5-1 at home off of teams like mallorca

Any chance of a poll Ed?

Should Kenny Miller be in our starting 11?

I personally don't think so but would be interested to see what others think

Thanks.

Kenny Miller Poll

23 Jul 2017 23:24:39
Who would u replace him with?

23 Jul 2017 23:26:23
Untill someone else can step up and show that they can do the job then I don't think it's even questionable

24 Jul 2017 08:51:26
I would have him in the squad all day long but for me Moreles and Herrera up front. Miller sub. Just my opinion

23 Jul 2017 18:02:33
Harry Forrester has no way of getting into the first team and he knows it. A blatant attempt at getting a big payout with a contract termination, then he will take his pick of league 2 teams in England. What a mistake he has been. Lacklustre and lazy. Content on stealing a wage. Happy to sit and gain 'more weight' than play football regularly somewhere.

23 Jul 2017 23:19:02
Forrester another poor Warburton signing. Done hee-haw other than strutting around big headed during limited game time. Never Rangers class. One of a few sitting taking a wage while contributing nowt. Unfortunately due to length of contracts we either cut losses and pay them off or hope that anyone willing to sign average players on above average wages come in for them.

23 Jul 2017 17:52:46
Rossiter not kicked a ball for us . He wouldn't get in front of dorrans or jack. No way . Hopefully walker signs shortly, I think he will be a great signing.

23 Jul 2017 16:24:32
rossiter is frequently discussed in this forum. And I admire that so many are right behind him. But personally, he is a walking bomb scare. He has no track record, and being so young and injury prone can damage us, if he eventually breaks into team. I say get him out on loan this year, clear wage and let him build game time. Let Pena, jack, dorrans, niko fight this year .
. and ditch windass

23 Jul 2017 17:44:43
Have u ever watched the boy? he demands the ball, yes he's not flashy but he keeps it moving and always drops into space to receive it again! He and Jack are the only two sitting midfielders we have so to send him on loan is a nonsense barring injury he will be a top player

23 Jul 2017 18:03:20
Gotta ask if anyone knows why Liverpool let a youth international go. Did they know his fitness would always be an issue?

23 Jul 2017 21:36:51
Liverpool didn't "let him go" they offered him a new contract, he turned it down. Simple

23 Jul 2017 22:13:11
Would "letting him go" not equate to not matching his contract demands?

24 Jul 2017 06:40:21
No.

He was offered an improved contract at Liverpool that's why we paid compensation to sign him. He was very highly rated there

24 Jul 2017 08:58:51
I liked his honesty during the interview after the european debacle. I really hope he suceeds with us. For me though Liverpool have the money to keep players if they rate them that highly. Just an opinion

24 Jul 2017 10:03:29
Commonsense - I believe the issue was more around game time than money. The lad needed to be playing regular footie and we offered it to him. Sadly he went and broke himself captaining the England U19's. I'm fairly certain he would have been shipped out to league 1 on loan for a couple of seasons with Liverpool. And he wouldn't have won any trophies there either ;-)

23 Jul 2017 16:24:17
Forrester planning to 'stay and fight for the jersey'. In other words he'll sit and take a wage. He's knocked back Southend and now blocked users from commenting on new uploaded photos because he knows he's going to take pelters.

23 Jul 2017 16:28:24
Just shows you he knows he is a poor player skimming a wage that the bread man offered him and Southend was about his level as was Northampton with crooks. MW bought poor so glad we never let him loose with millions.

23 Jul 2017 18:01:36
I really hope Forrester proves us all wrong. I liked him in a few games. except that he chose to go for individual glory instead of the easy pass for a goal. Cost us a few times. should you be correct bruno he will have problems out and about in Glasgow!

23 Jul 2017 15:44:19
Whats the opinions on 442? Who would be our top two would moreles suit herrera!? Personally I'd rather one central striker and an extra midfielder! I'd like rossiter or Jack sitting and pena Dorrans niko and candias/ walker across middle!

23 Jul 2017 17:04:24
352 for me fod in goal bk 3 of cardoso, alves, wilson. 3 in centre of midfield would be dorrans jack and nico or pena. Left midfield miller and tav on the right and morelos and herrera up top

23 Jul 2017 17:26:23
Miller left wing back? 🤔. You not think fitness would be a problem?

24 Jul 2017 09:04:00
I think we have to at least give Moreles and Herrera a go up front. In an ideal world they will start banging them in and teams will fear facing us again.

23 Jul 2017 12:00:23
A lot more encouraging yesterday. Just checked out Marseilles pre season so far and this was there third game won the previous 2 vs sporting Portugal and fernebache so they have been playing and getting results. Shows overall a good performance from us and signs of moving in the right direction.

23 Jul 2017 19:46:59
Sporting Portugal? Do they play in the same league as Inverness Caledonian Scotland?

{Ed001's Note - it is actually Sporting Club of Portugal, though people incorrectly call them Sporting Lisbon in English because they are based in Lisbon. The word Lisbon is not actually anywhere in their proper name of Sporting Clube de Portugal.}

24 Jul 2017 13:01:00
sporting club de portugal*

Reading all these posts about walker and naismith, walker yeah young player good goals return, naismith however done what he did and recently said he wasn't coming back at this point, if it is him we need a poacher and he fits the bill he has a lot to prove but if he scorers goals fair play we do need someone to put the ball in the back of the net. Any thoughts.

23 Jul 2017 12:10:46
Naismith is not a striker he is at best a No10
Never been a prolific goal scorer so people best get that notion out of their heads.

23 Jul 2017 12:21:06
I'd take naismith back in a second my only concern would be our 3 creative/ attacking midfielders would be over 30 years old. That wouldn't be a problem if naismith was free and on a small wage.

23 Jul 2017 11:02:48
Was at the game yesterday and was very encouraged with what I seen. 442 was a suprise and good to see Pedro has it in him to change formation when required.

Liked the look of alves cordoso at the back together it just feels right already even though it was a friendly. Jack looks as if he's been playing in that midfield for years. He had one loose pass but team managed to recover from it. Candias really surprised me and I think he had a great game. Played off the shoulder of defenders and looks as if he has strength and speed to cause problems.

Herrera looks cumbersome with ball at his feet but could be a handful in the air and big asset with corners and set pieces which we have lacked for years. Dorrans had a very average game with some loose touches but you can see he helps the shape of the midfield and will be solid I'm sure.

Alfredo looks busy and strong and I'm excited to see what he can offer this season. Time will tell with him. I would take walker coming in in a heartbeat and ideally another right back even if hodson and tav stay. I would also get maybe a forward on loan. I would try and move waghorn windass kiernan forrester and dodoo on if we can. Keep wee holt as back up.

In summary Pedro seems to have done well in the market at first glance. Dalcio seems to be the only headless chicken of the bunch and he is only on loan.

Going in the right direction for sure.

23 Jul 2017 13:24:50
I was at game to and completely agree with your appraisal. Only point of concern for me is we have an awful lot of central midfield players. While I thought Niko was excellent yesterday I'm not sure he could play on the left week in week out. Then you add the two that played there yesterday and add Pena and rossieter . I'm not sure how we fit all our best players into a starting 11

23 Jul 2017 14:07:19
Okay he's had injuries to recover from but Kranjcar's only 32 and is it really so hard to imagine a professional player not managing to play 90 minutes a week? Not asking that much. The guy's a player of real class and vision. Walker and McLean would be great additions and add a dimension we need in being future potential Scottish internationals. Miller, 5 years Nico's senior, shouldn't be in the first 11, bench yes but we need a better striker if we hope to challenge Celtic. I know he's everyone's favourite and gets what wearing the badge is all about but let's face reality.

23 Jul 2017 14:39:15
What about Pena? Thoughts from anyone who seen him play yet.

23 Jul 2017 15:12:21
Pena came on yesterday mols. wi roughly 15 to go. didn't do much but once he gets up to speed hopefully he will do well. We spent a lot of dough on him so I guess he's gona figure heavily in Pedro's plans.

23 Jul 2017 10:44:36
I don't think Walker and McLean will sign until Christmas, and that will be pre contracts.
Naismith looking more likely and the boy Heneghan that PC has watched regularly at Motherwell.

I hope I'm wrong McLean and Walker sign sooner rather than later though.

24 Jul 2017 01:05:44
is it not moult pc has watched regularly at mwell?

24 Jul 2017 10:07:25
Personally I hope it was Cadden

23 Jul 2017 00:05:29
Unbelievable in the monumentous shift in mood from the closed doors St Johnstone match to today.

It's step by step for us Bears.

We go to Sheffield Wednesday (hopefully with Walker and A. N Other) and build on today.

23 Jul 2017 08:56:02
Better performance yesterday although long way to go before competitive action at Motherwell. Why does Pedro continue practice of telling media and opposition our formation before match,

23 Jul 2017 19:41:56
think we will definitely get walker but the sheep won't give us mclean so easily
