I see rangers have announced a small profit for the six months up until December. I must admit I'm suprised but I'm very pleased! Considering Mike Ashley still has us cornered. It's another small step to getting back where we belong. A European spot is crucial now though!

23 Mar 2017 17:43:24
Great news as I think I heard Ashley is costing us something like 9million a year from the retail. So if could get that sorted and with European football coming next season onwards we are in pretty good shape. Don't understand all the people who slate king and the bored tho of course I would like to see bigger investment on the playing side but we haft to be patient and in two years I think king and co have done a great job considering the mess we were in when they took over.

23 Mar 2017 19:30:40
Great news, albeit a very small profit but we are going in the right direction. With pedro getting the team playing some great stuff last week and now news of a profit, things are looking not too bad at all. God please let king shaft the fat man in court 🙏

23 Mar 2017 18:31:27
Unaudited though.

23 Mar 2017 22:12:59
Yep. the first line in the daily rebel tells you all you need to know. "Unaudited accounts". so basically fabricated figures to paint a picture of all being well. The pr guys have played a blinder to get the rags to depict this as a positive story

23 Mar 2017 22:15:15
Try and ignore that word unaudited Cuillin, I don't think our board wouldn't lie about profits given what we have been through.

Very pleased to see the word profit used in the same sentence as our club, long may it continue.

24 Mar 2017 06:42:46
Rafbob, with them being so keen to get the results out, it may mean the next set have the bad figures in them. I hope not of course.

24 Mar 2017 11:42:23
Very little understanding on here. The issuing of unaudited half-yearly accounts is standard practice, so it's okay for everybody else but when our club does it there's something dodgy going on or the figures are 'fabricated'!

24 Mar 2017 13:42:22
Glad to have a man with your knowledge of unaudited accounts to help us understand more, wee-ecky. I for one am very grateful.

Remembering today the greatness of Davie Cooper. A huge talent and wish we had someone in our side today with even one 5th of his ability.

Davie Cooper, Legend!

🔴⚪🔵.

23 Mar 2017 19:26:02
Loved watching Cooper, as a Celtic fan he was the one Rangers player i would try and copy, out on the old red ash on a baltic Saturday morning. Wonderful, wonderful player.

23 Mar 2017 22:26:10
I remember visiting my grandad up at Craigend and we had a kick about on one of those pitches, not best for sliding around on from what I remember!

23 Mar 2017 21:15:37
Used to meet Davie Cooper in the Avonbridge hotel in Hamilton with my big mate. Singed our cup final tickets when he was in with Jimmy Nic. He also came to my old Primary School in Hamilton and gave us some football skills session and gave us all a Rangers lapel badge.

True gentleman and my hero.
You only see this type of genius rarely. That free kick against Aberdeen quality. Bandy legs did not get near it even on the way out.
I am sure god will be playing DC wide left in the heavens 11.

Red ash pitch, mitre moldmaster fitbaw, freezing Saturday morning leaving a frosty glaze on the pitch, both managers combing the pitch to remove the odd bits of broken gingey bottles. Glesga. What a time to be alive.

24 Mar 2017 10:22:19
Getting skelped in the legs with the mitre then your mum scrubbing out the bits of grit ahhh memories lol

24 Mar 2017 11:53:00
Vote4Pedro that time you are referring to on the ask parks and the broken bottles produced some of the best Scottish talent in the last 50 years. No one plays football anymore other than arrange games with boys clubs etc.

We used to meet up every Sunday at 1.00, 20 lads jumper down and off we went. During the week we were out every night with a ball practicing our skills. The hunger has gone. The mental boys no longer have the football genius.

Now they just appear disruptive and badly behaved and lack the skills. I run a team of kids under 10s we have outstanding kids in a team of 20.

Surprise Surprise the 4 in question are from a council estate and have ability desire skill and hunger to succeed. They do take a ball out on the streets most nights. The some of the kids from more affluent backgrounds don't practice, moan constantly and mess about at training and are being constantly asked to listen.

I would have thought this would be fairly typical of modern society and a mixture of kids. Back when I was at the boys club the coaches would have gave you a shouting or a clip round the lug and told to pay attention.

24 Mar 2017 15:56:52
11TheBest I was genuinely reminiscing about the good ol days. Some great memories. Broken gingeys added a bit of glamour to the affair. No jumpers down for us I'm afraid, partly because our red ash parks had goals (no nets) and we were scared that somebody would bump our jumper. I'm not sure I agree with you regarding loss of talent. I'm pretty sure red ash parks had nothing to do with it. If you're looking for something to blame for that then look no further than media and technology.

24 Mar 2017 17:22:50
Being one myself, i find that its the boys from council estates that have the greater need to do well, a point to prove against society. And most will have had a good working class attitude engraved into their DNA. Its the boys from the same estates from broken homes that our game by passes, be it single parentage, unemployment or all manner of issues, they are simply being priced out of the game, they can't afford the fees or kit, its utterly shameful. This Country has lost more talent that way than it'll ever produce. Its a scandal that young lads can't get to kick a ball about because of fees.

24 Mar 2017 22:59:52
Gents this has been an interesting conversation maybe it reflects society in Scotland today. Me and a few of my mates took a trial for the Accies way back in 1983 unfortunately non of us made it but we played till mid 30s. now coaching my boys team and it feels great to give something back to a game I love. We have a couple of kids that I would love the Rangers to look at but who know what the scouting system is like at Ibrox
I feel like drinking two of our kids down and asking rangers to take a look.

23 Mar 2017 13:08:17
In regards to my last post what I'm saying is we need to start again the players we have are just not good enough and if u think any different u have been watching another team playing if we want to improve we need to start again because English lower league players will never challenge the rotten mob I honestly can't believe some off the rubbish people post get real and face facts we are not good enough as for keeping Miller I did say for one more season prob been our best player at times this year and yes he is 37 what does that say for the rest let's start again and build a better team we deserve better English lower leauge players won't do it.

23 Mar 2017 13:57:52
There's an argument that lower english stuff would compete no worries in our league i think your being disrespectful, what about vardy or ian wright or other guys that came from lower leagues, not good enough i don't think so, we don't and shouldn't have buckets of money to throw at it unless you want us back where we were, we have to be careful not spunk 30 mil up the wall just to compete with them, we don't have the cash to replece, no shirt revenues, pedro will bring people in and hopefully compliment what we have, a bit of management style can do wonders for players

23 Mar 2017 15:26:22
these players are well better than the rest of scottish football just tactics where wrong all season give these guys a chance.

i would however get a new spine of a team

23 Mar 2017 16:45:50
I think you'll find both celtics best players this season were both signed from the English championship. Nondisgrace in shopping in that market as it's one of the most competitive leagues around.

24 Mar 2017 11:43:11
It's not the shopping in lower leagues that's the problem, it's just the people we sent for the shopping came back with damaged goods.

Loved the posts about the old days. In my days if you had Hotspur boots you were rich. A ball was a Bladder. I played in goal with no nets everytime the ball went past you had to run about a hundred yards to retrieve it .
