What about Michu that used to play with swansea?

25 Apr 2016 09:39:24
he now plays in the lower leagues. going for him would be a waste of time. Injury prone, and he has very much "lost his mojo"

24 Apr 2016 19:23:27
So looking at the SPL objectively tells me we have nothing to fear when we retake our place in it. Possibly the worst celtic team in years is having real trouble limping over the line against some pretty ordinary opposition. The 'challenge' from Aberdeen, (who could have won the league) never really amounnted to much in the end. That was probably a chance in a million for another team to win it and they were somehow even worse than celtic, a team that we dominated last week, albeit in a one off game. However, if we can get some strength in depth to our squad, I see no reason why we can't be there or thereabouts come the end of next season. The real difference is without doubt our manager.

24 Apr 2016 19:31:39
Although I agree with most of what u say as yet no one knows who will take over at Celtic and what kind of budget he will get. Nothing to fear from the rest of the teams as you say.

24 Apr 2016 19:35:58
Pieandbovril, i agree with your post, abedeen bottled it on many occasions, but not because they got better, its celtic that have got worst, imho.

24 Apr 2016 20:07:26
True biffo we don't know those things, what we do know however is that our manager is going to take some beating regardless of budgets at celtic. Ours has built a very good team with a very limited budget himself and he ain't finished yet. Whoever comes in for celtic will need to have a bit more about him than the rocket did!
Should make for a very interesting summer.

24 Apr 2016 20:32:56
Every league game we play next year is the oppositions cup final. They are all desperate to beat us as they think they have a point to prove against us, especially the wee Diddy teams like that mob from the East End.

24 Apr 2016 21:32:24
To put things into perspective, Rangers and Hibs played nine of the twelve Premiership teams this season and the one of the nine that didn't lose a game was Ross County. I'd reckon that neither of the other three (Motherwell, Hamilton or Partick) would pose any greater problems. This folks coupled with the fact that Rangers and Hibs will contest the NationalCup Final should tell you just how good the current top league is.

24 Apr 2016 23:02:02
It doesn't matter if someone comes into the Celtic job and gets an amazing budget for players, its not how much youve got to spend on players, its what players you bring in that counts, one player could cost £5 million, and another could cost £500,000, the £500,000 player could be the better player, MW has proved that's how it works and he will continue to prove that's how it works again and again.

25 Apr 2016 07:18:04
Even if Celtic get a big budget next season they already have quite a large squad so i'd image if they are to make wholesale changes a lot of players will need to be sold off as well. Something they may find difficult considering they would want to get rid of under performing players.

25 Apr 2016 08:47:15
WhatATeam

Of course a bigger budget makes a difference. You generally tend to find the teams with the bigger budgets win the leagues. So even with a poor manager a team can still win the league with a bigger budget.

25 Apr 2016 09:34:52
Biffo, what happened to us last season then.

25 Apr 2016 10:35:55
Albertz, McCoist happened. there is a difference between bad management and taking the utter p**s. lack of training, overweight players, an all you can eat buffet. a bad manager with a very fit squad can still win leagues. a bad manager with an unfit, overweight squad will struggle to do anything.

25 Apr 2016 10:13:02
Well put, Albertz. What happened to us last season Biffo?

25 Apr 2016 12:52:18
I agree with Hugh jarse there in not that much of a gap if really any between us Falkirk hibs and maybe even Raith the league should be made to 16 team top flight . we will be strong next year and I don't care about any other team it's about us now and no team can kick us when we are down and if it was 16 teams Dundee u would be the first to be relegated they are a terrible team.

25 Apr 2016 20:53:23
Biffo what's happened in the Premier League this season? Blows your theory out of the water mate. Arsenal for example have a massive advantage financially over Leicester but they have struggled recently.

24 Apr 2016 19:16:17
Like to see O'Halloran play through the middle v Livingston.
Could so be deployed in the No 10 role.

24 Apr 2016 20:01:13
Yes he's not getting on the ball as much out wide.

24 Apr 2016 21:33:36
He's not got going yet has he? He'll be a smash next season when the games open up a bit more. McKay looks good in there too when he comes off the wing.

25 Apr 2016 16:38:28
Games next season aren't going to open up more - we are going to face better quality teams who will be more organized.

Teams will sit in and try and hit us on the break, they certainly aren't going to play an open game and make it easier for us.

Seen loads of posts about how much easier it will be in a better division- don't understand it.

Moh was a panic buy at a time when hibs looked capable of pushing all the way. Posted repeatedly at time that he was not what we needed.

24 Apr 2016 17:52:18
What about Michu the guy that played for Swansea 30 years old good striker don't know what he's like now should get him on the cheap if he's kept his fitness up what do the Bears think.

25 Apr 2016 16:29:59
He has off field problems (depression) and isn't the player he once was.

24 Apr 2016 15:04:59
Was glad to see young Liam Burt get some minutes yesterday, he did ok as well. Got me thinking who is the best player Rangers have ever produced, in my lifetime Ian Durrant and Barry Ferguson and maybe Allan Mcgregor are the best in my opinion, not sure if Davie Cooper was homegrown, if he was he would be number 1. Any of the older posters on here with their own favourites? Like Cooper i'm not sure if Baxter was homegrown? We also have a youngster Zac Rudden who is believed to be very special.

24 Apr 2016 15:20:49
Cooper came from clydebank I think. There's been a few players over the last decade that were home grown but we're either played out of position are just didn't get a chance charlie adam and ross mccormack to name a few.

24 Apr 2016 15:54:01
Janesaddiction, its got to be durrant from me, a great player and some prospect until we played aberdeen that terrible day, .

24 Apr 2016 16:01:21
Bigjoh85

Until that terrible assault by Simpson.

24 Apr 2016 16:37:06
Biffo exactly mate, though i think the whole of us older supporters knew what i was meaning,

24 Apr 2016 16:15:06
unluckily durrant never managed to complete his carreer barry ferguson and alan hutton who is still playing in premieship must be amongst the best.

24 Apr 2016 16:47:57
Coop destroyed us single handedly twice, 3-3 in his last game for bankies, if memory serves, then I think greigy signed him, I remember him against us at ibrox and kilbowie, came from Hamilton, true blue to the tips of his magical toes
Tommy.

24 Apr 2016 18:13:41
Just been told that John Greig and Sandy Jardine were both homegrown so they have to be up there, also I remember John Spencer as a teenager, he looked as if he was going to become the best player in the world at 16 but for one reason or another came nowhere near fulfilling his potential. Same with John Fleck.

24 Apr 2016 18:15:34
Durrant and Fergie were a cut above the rest for sure. Copper although we never brought him through was something special though. Hope wee McKay stays about long enough and keeps improving enough to be mentioned with these guys. Judging by a few of his recent performances I think he could be heading that way.

24 Apr 2016 19:34:15
Janesaddiction

Played against Spencer a few times with my school. Tbh he didn't really stand out however he did have a good career although as you say not as good as a lot of people thought.

24 Apr 2016 19:40:36
Largebill of the two you mentioned ide say ferguson was great for us though i don't put him in the durrant bracket, just my opinion, maybe.

24 Apr 2016 18:15:37
Davie cooper was an absolute wizard I can pay him no higher compliment than that, he had a left peg like a wand, total genius of a winger, in this day and age he'd be worth around 60/ 80 million quid, coop could have played for any club in the world without any doubt, the great ruud gullit said as much.

24 Apr 2016 20:31:24
Modern day it gota be hutton or adams. adams had cracking season at liverpool keeping gerard outa team. mcormack too but for me i'd go adam. would have said fergie but he never did much for blackburn.

24 Apr 2016 23:31:11
Warbbs15 i agree with you regarding cooper, but he never came through our academy, and op was asking about such players.

24 Apr 2016 22:36:46
Durrant was special - such a gifted and talented player -.

25 Apr 2016 09:49:55
Derek Johnstone.

25 Apr 2016 10:20:52
wee Fergie was a fantastic football player but I'd go Durranty.

24 Apr 2016 11:57:24
I think most of us agree that we need a striker, a real no.9 who's a target for crosses, and it seems, the Dundee match aside, we've also really missed Waghorn.

What baffled me yesterday was an Alloa team which is already relegated, pitching up with a 10 man defence. Nothing to lose, why not set out to play football and try to entertain a packed Ibrox? I won't miss playing teams like that next season.

24 Apr 2016 13:06:45
Absolutely kf. You could see the difference in the celtic game where we were able to get in behind them due to the fact they didn't put 10 men behind the ball and defend on their 18 yard line. Though I do concede that's how we got to a European cup final!

24 Apr 2016 13:38:32
We need 2 central defenders, Wilson is a liability, he ball watches and is to easily pulled out of position, we will also need someone to take balls place to sit in front of the back four.

24 Apr 2016 13:46:07
We already have him. Matt Crooks. We also already have a great striker in the form of Ryan Hardie! We also have Luca Gasparotto at CB who I reckon will be in the 1st team next year.

24 Apr 2016 13:41:53
it will be no different next season the rest of the teams will do anything to preserve there top league status of which we could be onebecause there are no certainties of how things will go.

24 Apr 2016 21:57:20
Are you saying you think we could struggle to stay in the top flight next season. Largebill? If so I would take any odds you care to mention. There is absolutely zero chance Rangers will be out of the top division again unless there was another financia meltdown.

24 Apr 2016 21:17:14
We need an experienced old - fashioned physical centre half to replace Wilson. We are powder-puff weak in the air at the back and this must be addressed in the summer. Also, as much as I've loved some of the stuff we have played this season I feel we must vary the play in games like yesterday for instance. Crossing balls into the box may go against Warbs footballing ideaology, but with a strong centre half to attack the ball we'll take advantage of the dozens of corners we win that come to nothing. This is Scotland after all, not Spain.

24 Apr 2016 22:39:22
Definitely agree about Crooks - he is very comfortable on the ball and reads the game well -.

24 Apr 2016 09:40:49
Also Lucas Melano Striker of Portland timbers seen a bit of him 6'1 big guy but skillful with ball at feet Could be tge type of player we are needing up top
Check him out.

24 Apr 2016 09:09:51
2 MLS Forwards Fabian Castillo FC Dallas and Kekuta Manneh of Vancouver Whitecaps have loads of pace and skill both young and both avaliable for 500-900k
Check them out
Thoughts?

24 Apr 2016 08:49:49
Yet again young Hardie scores against Falkirk this time. He needs to be our first choice striker next season, the kid is fantastic, but he also plays off the shoulder of defense and with people constantly sitting deep against us, this may be a challenge.

24 Apr 2016 10:09:30
Hardie would be a better option than Clark.
Clark gives 100% but has failed to match his goalscoring exploits at QOS.

24 Apr 2016 11:25:40
I've been gutted that Hardie hasn't been given any game time for us all season but I think MW has been proved right in the end. He's played way more than we would have given him and scored some big goals.
I would loan him and Murdoch out to bottom 6 SPFL teams next year for 6 months, see how they get on there. They are both coming along nicely though and I expect them to be in and around the team soon enough. Hardie could be a star in the making, some of his goals have been spectacular.

24 Apr 2016 07:37:19
Another two goals for Josh Windass yesterday hopefully will be a good signing for us.

24 Apr 2016 09:44:32
Hopefully both will come up and do a great job for us.

23 Apr 2016 22:03:18
Don't know if anyone noticed but who was the one alloa player who refused to join the guard of honour and instead warmed up in the line?

24 Apr 2016 11:20:14
Michael Duffy on loan from Celtic, no surprise there.

24 Apr 2016 12:29:26
Theirs no rules or procedures that say he has to, it's his prerogative.

24 Apr 2016 17:25:52
Well at least he'll be able to tell his grandweans how much he made an a##e of himself when he grows up. "let your grandad tell about the time when he stood as part of a guard of honour live on tv and, unlike his team mates who showed professionalism and respect to a better team, chose not applaud just so as all his wee pals at the time would see him as a hero. Sure, they've gone on to win many, many more titles since then and are, according to EUFA, SFA and the Lawlords the same Rangers, your grandad and his wee pals know different".

24 Apr 2016 17:51:19
@ Hugh Jarse i agree i would be disappointed if rangers players did not have the class to form a guard of honor and congratulate another team. who ever it may be were to be league champions or we shared a final with.

24 Apr 2016 18:19:51
Pathetic really isn't it, oh well he's found his level, not good enough for Alloa.
Hibs are the same, no class. That's what happens when you get Celtic players on loan, the class just falls right out your Club. Hibs are full of them, that's why the are serial losers😂.

24 Apr 2016 19:24:56
Rangers players gave hearts a guard of honour last year, that's the class of them.

23 Apr 2016 21:55:34
Shay Logan from Aberdeen would be a decent signing, competition with Tav.

24 Apr 2016 15:25:53
Good player but seriously doubt he would come to us to be a backup player.
