all the hype about darren mcgregor leaving played regularly last seasonbut very erratic made loads of blunders but tried hard with plenty endeavour but like bombscare bert konterman if the manager does not fancy him to play him regular we must back his decision and let him move to where he can get game time evry week we must wish him all the best for the future but unfortunetly that's football

Think moving forward we need to be keeping tabs on the very best young Scottish talent and not let good players like Allan slip through the net again.
Any idea what length of Contract Jack Harper has signed at Brighton?
Also love to see Lewis McLeod back!
Other possibilities, David Goidwillie can sign a pre-contract in Jan. I know he's off the boil but fit and focused he could do well in MWs system.

ok heres ma rant for the day. just wish the dark side fans would let go of the sevco patter. just read a post on facebook from a tic fan and he must have mentioned those words . "rangers/sevco" a dozen times . let go lads as those days are well behind our club and as far as i'm concerned this was a Charlie green era .just makes me want malmo to kick their sad arses off the park just for spite.thinking just to end my wee rant that my new name for our national team is scotic.ffs Gordon what you thinkin laddy.deecee

Believable2 Unbelievable4

24 Aug 2015 19:03:58
deecee was it you last week that said you wanted Malmo to win because of John Collins? It's nice to know that on a week to week basis a solitary comment or fan jibe can turn so many of you from all Scottish team cheering enthusiasts to part time Malmo fans for 90 minutes, how refreshingly reactionary with not a hint of longer term bias, haha.

I never want you guys to win in Europe, well actually when younger I did twice (Juventus about 79 and v some German team in the 90's when you got 2 sent off for bugger all, anyone recall it?) but now I don't, the financial rewards are too great but at least I will come out and admit it unlike the faux outraged, grow a pair and just say you hate Celtic deecee, I'd admire you more for it. :)

Deecee the reason they won't let it go is because you have a whole generation still hurting from the years of pain Rangers and namely David Murray inflicted on them.
And I include their baw face c e o, for every slur, dig, and stunt he pulls read David Murray in his pomp! If you're waiting for the sevco s###e to stop I'd suggest you're in for a long wait.
Personally I say bring it on because deep down despite their pathetic attempts at humour they know the Gers well down the road back to the top.

You mentioned Celtic on this "Rangers thread" deecee in fact you started it, might I suggest you have more of an identity crisis than me therefore. As for the site I've been in here longer than most of you, I think I'll stay, ed's permitting. But nice to know we don't need rubbish like a wee guy in a Celtic top beat me at marbles one day when I was five for your sudden burst of Swedishness anymore, say it like it is deecee you keep telling me it's a Rangers site after all.

Anybody else mildly curious as to what the Dh is an abbreviation for? Always makes me laugh when this guy and his cronies refer to Sevco or the Deady Bears etc - it merely proves their obsession of all things Rangers. Isn't it amazing the hatred and obsession they harbour for an alleged new club???

Agree3 Disagree2

24 Aug 2015 22:52:14
As for Delia saying Collins was the most respectful guy, Collins just repeated his complete disrespect for Scottish football players on todays interview, it is a disgrace. Albeit they seem happy to sign players from Scottish clubs, could it just be a bung for ex players.

25 Aug 2015 00:46:33
dh is right Gazza1212 that was stunningly dumb, I mean of all folk to cast up, David Murray! That is perhaps the ultimate face palm moment in here. What's next McCoist's managerial nous v Stein's?

Agree0 Disagree3

25 Aug 2015 09:31:09
To the three who disagreed with me are you actually saying that overall Murray was a force for good for your club when it is all added up? Here's what to remember. He didn't start the Ibrox revolution it was already under way, the big signings and Souness as manager was already the case. Admittedly he spent a fortune but it was the Bank Of Scotland's fortune and his hubris "Every fiver Celtic spend" led to EBT's and £12.5m for Flo ultimately making the club toxic to any respectable investor or buyer. Enter Craig Whyte. Murray was warned off him by the board, we know that, but still sold the club to him for £1, the rest you know but if you reckon those tin pots he gained during those years balance out verse the misery and embarrassment of the past four years (and who knows how much longer that legacy will impact things) then good luck to you. If we do get to 10 in a row, was his exorbitantly bought 9 worth it?

{Ed001's Note - what if they were playing, say Aberdeen, and Aberdeen could go above you in the league if they won, while Celtic were way off the pace, would you still want Celtic to lose?}

25 Aug 2015 12:15:52
I had that very same predicament in 1986 Ed001, Hearts were a good bit clear of us and a Rangers favour would have been welcomed. But Rangers seemingly only won 6 games from November and Hearts beat them. Hence me qualifying it as in Europe, I'm aware that at home I could conceivably need a favour from them at some point.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - exactly, you can't be sure and surely it should be about loving your own team, not hating the opposition?}

25 Aug 2015 14:36:51
Ed in response to your reply to my post above,we are not playing in the same league as Aberdeen or that other shower,so don't get your reply, sorry ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I was just asking if you would still feel the same way should that situation arise, as you said you always wants Celtic to lose no matter what.}

25 Aug 2015 14:55:16
Looking back on your reply ed,IDE naturally be looking for Aberdeen to draw, but by the same length of string,IDE want my team to win as iMessage not one for looking on favours from other teams,as long as my club wins iMessage happy enough to let nature take its course lol.

25 Aug 2015 19:21:12
Billybluenose one game to go in the league it's between Aberdeen and Rangers, Aberdeen are two points clear and a draw wins them the league on goal difference, you wouldn't want us to beat Aberdeen if that was the last fixture?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 19:44:07
Gas you don't make sense pal,if it's the last game of the season between us and Aberdeen how could yours possibly be playing them, considering our game with them is last game of the season,so we simply beat them ,thus winning the league by one point dhhh.

Offers something different up top, could hold it up to flick on to the wingers or advancing midfielders and would get on the end of a lot of these crosses and is a proven goal scorer too ripped Falkirk apart, only problems I could find is his work ethic is maybe not what warbs wants and he might not be able to play they style he wants to play aswell

Believable0 Unbelievable1

24 Aug 2015 19:15:31
Zaliukas away on a permanent.
Aird away on a permanent.
Templeton away on a permanent.

Murdoch out on loan.
Crawford out on loan.
Hardie out on loan (if he won't play)

Bring in a full back (right sided)
Bring on a centre forward (poacher)
Bring in a centre half

I'd be delighted with all of that if possible.

Agree2 Disagree5

24 Aug 2015 20:44:58
Ball and aird will cover right back, why do we need another centre back? Bee have four plus I am sure halkett or another youngster could slot in

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 23:30:36
Aird is awful and should be no where near a rangers jersey. Ball as far as I'm aware is a holding mid/centre half so I'd rather not go down the route of playing players out of position again.

As I said I'd hope zaliukas will be away aswell which would leave us kiernan, wilson and ball to cover centre half. If we have injuries I don't think halkett who hasn't played first team football is ready.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Aug 2015 07:56:49

Still think we need an out and out striker - we have had loads of chances with only a fraction put away.

We also need a 'captain' in midfield.

Are we finished signing till Jan?

Been speaking to my Arsenal supporting brother in law and he can't speak highly enough of the young lad Gideon, in his opinion he's the best young talent the Gunners have had since Tony Adams burst onto the scene, considering Arsenal have produced excellent youngsters over the years like Wilshere etc that's some statement. Also not too bothered about Mcgregor leaving, honest player but no room for Broadfoot type players anymore, he"d be like a fish out of water in current team, dosnt have the technique or speed to justify a place in squad.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I replied to a comment with my view on this earlier, was just curious to what fellow bears thought.

Tav, given he can continue his quality in the SPL (personally I think he will, minus a few goals) will probably be worth somewhere in the region of £1.5m - £3m, depends on who the team is and such.

Can't see McKay being worth more than £500k - £1.5m. Bit lightweight and can disappear for 60 mins of a game. But age is on his side and has the traits to prosper in SPL or English Championship (probably)

As for Waghorn, he is just a work horse, admirable sure, and gets the fans behind him. But he will never ever exceed the £1m mark. Couple of hundred grand at most. Too slow and not silky enough of the wings in England. And not clinical enough to be a centre forward.

Personally I think, that Wes, Halliday, Holt and Kiernan could thrive in MW's system.
Halliday is up for a challenge, composed on the ball and can pick a pass.

Kiernan looks sturdy in the challenge, quality in the air and he's no slouch. He will grown into the football playing system at the back (still early days).

Holt is probably one of the most promising signings, quick, agile, gets about the pitch, can pick a pass and not a bad finisher or dribbler. Can see him being a very good SPL quality player.

Wes Foderingham looks to be a very good shot stopper and looks assured when collecting balls in the box, he will also adapt to playing more with his feet and releasing the ball early on counter, at 24 he's still very young as a keeper. He looks SPL quality already and I'd love to see what he will be like in his peak at 28 - 29. Also Swindon fans highly rated him, so I'm not passing judgement too soon.

AS for players like Bell, Law and Aird. I don't feel like they have a future at us, Law has no fight and very very inconsistent, Bell just doesn't look interested, he clearly developed a massive ego after that Kilmarnock cup final win over Sceptic. Aird doesn't have the techical ability to be a winger for Glasgow Rangers especially under MW.

Thoughts?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

24 Aug 2015 19:12:33
Law has started every game so how u can say he has no future at the club clearly the manager thinks different!and bell am not a fan of him doesn't command his box well enough for me but he's been out injured so how can u say he doesn't look interested?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 19:55:39
Ryan - Law wasn't very clear what I meant, I meant it as in I don't think he will do us any good in SPL he's a coward and far to inconsistent but I admit he does have a moment of class in him. As for Bell, I don't feel like he's looked interested since he's signed. Hopefully that has changed since MW. He can be a good keeper. But I think Wes has it in him to prove to be a top keeper in SPL :) just my opinion

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Aug 2015 20:57:06
There will be a clear out at Rangers next year for us going to the SPL. Zaliaskas, Tempelton, Shields, Bell, Aird, Clarke and possibly Miller (36) will all be out the door come next year. We will be raiding the loan market again next year to bring in better players than these guys plus MW will make moves in the transfer front. Exiting times ahead. The big goalie looks a bit shakey at times as does Kernian but time will tell. Wilson needs to shed a few pun and get the idea that he's Frank De boar out his head, We play nice football out fae the back and he starts punting the ball out of play in trying a long ball out wide. Big Tav has been class and Haliday is nice and neat and gets stuck in. Holt is going to be our main man I think. He is clever and can pick the killer passes out. He is the type of player we have been craving for a long time. Waghorn was brought in as a wide man and no a striker. We just need to get our mits on a mobile striker who can link the play up and score goals. We don't want a big lazy slow fwd like Boyd who canny pass a ball or doesn't cover the ground. We will win the league this year at a canter and next year we will see the reshuffling of the pack. We were a rudderless ship last year but that' all changed.

Rob kiernan looks more than decent but he's not great with the ball at his feet. I'd rather have mcgregor in the side than wilson. I agree we need to get rid of zaliukas and hopefully this happens and we then bring in a commanding centre half.

I think people forget that our team is still gelling, if they hadn't been performing this well, which is so much better than anyone expected, we would be more understanding of the time needed to bring the squad together.

I agree that Wes looks a little shaky at times as does our defence and with time I think our defence can only become more comfortable and I feel criticism only comes because of how well we have been playing.

With time we can only get better.
We welcome the chase.

Believable4 Unbelievable8

24 Aug 2015 14:03:05

Rangers fans go on about a hungry ST, the thing is Rangers had one. Kris Boyd.
Formation,

GK - foderingham
LB - Wallace
CB - Wilson
CB - Ball/Kieran
RB - Tavernier
D/Mid - haliday
RM - Mckay
LM - Oduwa
RS - Aird
ST - Boyd
LS - waghorn

Possibly even Miller as ST too. Or even give Hardie a chance.

But in my opinion Boyd would have been a good player for this team set up. He is lazy but with this team with pace and width he would have been great for a box poacher.

Rangers need that big 6foot ST to boss about that box and no doubt, this team could give Celtic a ran for their money.

W/W style is amazing! Their going back to the days of the way DICK ADVOCATE played, fast and wing play. Someone touched on this is the only manager since Bill struff will 6 games in a row. This warbuton has only win 3 league games. Maybe in 6 weeks time should people start being positive if unbeaten.

I'm loving this new Rangers team oh I am. Their getting back to normal in a way. All football not off the pitch stuff. ( go gers! )

But in fairness to every fan out there and players too. You can't start calling people great till they do great. Rangers 3 players that will stand out this season.

My picks,

1, James Travernier ( best buy ) 2 years on I say £7million easy.

2, Barrie Makay ( great player to have on either wing ) 2 years on ( £5million ) unless your Liverpool and pay over the odds.

3, Martin Waghorn ( runs his heart out ) 2 years on ( £8, 5million maybe )

That's Rangers key players this season and maybe next too and maybe in Europe if Rangers can get there for next season.

Just my thoughts. Anyone agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable12

24 Aug 2015 06:12:44
Hi Tee Boy. Not sure on your team to be honest. Having to 4 wingers in a 4-3-3 formation is suicide(I'm classing Waghorn as a winger in that statement) and personally I think I prefer Boyd not being at Ibrox. He had his time, he failed the second time round. I totally agree that we should give Hardie a go. Kids got talent and needs a run out and I believe that Clark will come good for us. I don't believe that size is a factor in our striker requirements. Clinical finisher is the term I would use. Jordan Rhodes would be perfect in my mind but extremely expensive (His type of player)

I would tend to agree with your player valuations. IF these players were playing in the English premier league! Tavs would be a max 4mill, Mckay 2mill IF he can add goals to his game and Waghorn will maybe reach 2/3 mill, again if he can add goals to his game.

Zelalem will replace either Law or Holt within 2 games. He is a class above Law and Holt would benefit playing with that kind of quality in my eyes.

As much as we played some good football I thought we struggled to break their defence down. Those long balls up the right were so wasteful at times also.

Hibs had a couple of chances to score, I thought we were a bit lucky.

Teeboy 1. We certainly did have a hungry ST in Boyd. That is probably why he was so fat. Look to the future and leave the past behind. Boyd was useless last season and would still be too slow this year. I like what W&W seem to be doing and their style of football. The three loan signings from Spurs and Arsenal should lift the team to another level. I look forward to the cups to see if we draw SPL opposition. WATP.

Need a strong central defender to captain the midfield.

Need a capable striker to put away all those chances, and remember there have been a lot of chances missed not just yesterday but in the previous games.

GK is competent, but not great. Needs to brush up on the silly mistakes which could have cost us.

Find it hard to believe that it is 70 odd years since RFC last won their first six games. Mind you it means my 3 bets are still on.

Good result and reasonable performance
However central defence poor and at times Wilson looked lazy/slow and distribution was poor
Perhaps a sitting midfielder in front would make a difference.
Also think we need an out and out striker who will get us 20 plus goals a season.

dont agree with your team but as far as boyd goes I thought the same but when u put the spotlight on his worth he is lazy overweight and moody on those grounds I now say no we have had too many prima donnas in the past and davie weir is better qualified than anyone to judge whether he would have done a job for us on top of that he has not set heather on fire at kilie

Agree, we showed grit. Hibs came at us and were unlucky not to score, but they mucked our system up and we made many mistakes. I think we are good enough to win the spfl but will struggle in cups -semis stage, so it looks like no more signings this season,
but we def need real quality proven striker ( millers contract will b up) and centre mid for spl next season.
